Wanting out
In this episode I'm sharing something raw and unfiltered — what's actually been happening for me lately. The rage, the flatness, the thoughts of wanting out, and what I do with that.I talk about why healing isn't linear, what suicidal ideation actually is (and why it's different from wanting to end your life), and what it looks like to sit with unbearable feeling rather than run from it. I'm not on the other side of this yet. I'm speaking from inside it.If you've ever had those thoughts and felt scared by them, or alone in them this one might be for you. What to do when you can't feel your feelings: the nothing is not nothing!
Do you ever try to be with your feelings and find... nothing? Just blankness, or a spaced-out feeling, or a kind of not-quite-thereness? In this episode I want to talk about something that doesn't get said enough: that nothing is not nothing. The blankness, the dissociation, the feeling of absence, it's a gateway, not a dead end. And when we learn to be with it rather than push past it, something surprising often waits there. The content of this podcast is for informational and educational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Meditation: Coming back to your body
This is a simple, gentle meditation for coming home to yourself. We begin with what's in the mind, then move into the sensations of the body, the emotions, the resistance, whatever is actually here. Whether you're with strong feelings or simply want to begin a practice of getting curious about your inner world, this meditation creates space for what wants to be seen, felt, and heard. A meditation where we can make room for what is here in this moment. For more info and/or to book a session with Lizzie Bryher go to: www.treasureu.co.ukThe content of this podcast is for informational and educational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The Thing You Want To Get Rid Of
In this episode of Alchemical Meanderings, I (Lizzie Bryher) explores one of the most counterintuitive ideas in healing — that the thing you most want to get rid of might actually be your doorway back to yourself. Drawing on my own experience of severe panic attacks and claustrophobia, and my years of work as a therapist, I take us into the heart of what happens when we stop fighting our inner experience and start turning towards it instead. This is an episode about orphaned parts, about resistance, about shame — and about the unexpected alchemy that becomes possible when we meet ourselves with curiosity and kindness rather than judgement. For more info and/or to book a session with Lizzie Bryher go to:www.treasureu.co.ukThe content of this podcast is for informational and educational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The Life Force We Learned to Suppress
In this episode, I speak to something many of us never had words for. How, early in life, we learned to leave our bodies in order to survive and how that way of coping, though adaptive, can later become a source of suffering. This reflection explores what happens when we begin to gently return our attention to the body, to sensation, emotion, and the life force within us that was once suppressed or frozen. Not as a way to fix ourselves or get rid of feelings, but as a way of coming back into relationship with ourselves.I speak about how feeling helps restore agency, boundaries, intuition, and a deeper sense of connection not only within ourselves, but with others and the world around us.This piece is offered to my younger self, and to anyone who learned to survive by leaving their body. You can find out more about my work at www.treasureu.co.uk. © Lizzie Bryher 2026. Attention on the body produces direct physical affect on it
“Attention, or conscious concentration on almost any part of the body, produces some direct physical effect on it.” Charles Darwin. This episode is a deep dive into these simple yet profound truths and why they matter far more than most of us have ever been taught. We explore what happens when attention, presence, and resistance are understood not as abstract ideas, but as lived, embodied experiences. When we turn toward the body with curiosity rather than force, something begins to shift: sensations soften, energy starts to move, and what has been held, sometimes for years, sometimes ancestrally or culturally, can begin to resolve. So many people have never been shown that within their own bodies lies a natural, intelligent way of processing what might be called stuck trauma or stuck energy from the past. Experiences that were never fully met don’t disappear; they continue to shape how we feel, react, and relate in the present, often from beneath conscious awareness. This episode explores how, by bringing kind, conscious attention to what we usually resist, old patterns can move through us rather than run us, not by pushing or fixing, but by listening, feeling, and staying present. When we learn to work with the body in this way, life can begin to feel lighter, with more ease, more choice, and less suffering. Healing, here, is not something done to us, but something that unfolds through us.For more about my work: www.treasureu.co.uk© Lizzie Bryher 2026. Why it is so important to feel our feelings.
Feelings are energy. Trauma disrupts the natural flow of energy and creates blockages, frozen energy, stuck energy. That energy does not go away unless it is felt. When we are able to feel our emotions and sensations, energy can move again. And when energy finally moves, new life and new energy are created. The past is released, and a future becomes possible. As Prentis Hemphill writes about trauma: “We will continue reproducing it until we understand this. Nothing ever really goes away.”Until we are able to feel all of our feelings, we circle round and round with the same energy. It doesn’t disappear; it shows itself again and again. The invitation is to feel it. And yet the mind, speaking from the voice of trauma, tells us that these feelings are bad or wrong, that they will destroy us, abandon us, take us into a void. And the opposite is true. But we can only know that by finding out for ourselves, by taking that risk, by turning toward what feels all-encompassing and frightening. For more about my work: www.treasureu.co.uk© Lizzie Bryher 2026.
