This week we play off our Real To Reel movie and ask the question: Are cryptids relic survivors of extinct animals? People believe the Loch Ness Monster is a Plesiosamur, a marine reptile that died out 65 million years ago.There stories out of the Congo of dinosaur-like crypts that should also have died out millions of years ago and many believe that Sasquatch is, or at the very least, is the direct ancestor of the Gigantopithecus, which by all accounts died out around 300 thousands years ago. On this episode of Real to Reel Nick dives into giant crocodile lore by first going over a beast named Lolong, a 20 foot 3 inch long croc that was caught in 2012 and remains to this day the largest croc ever officially recorded. but it seems they get bigger than that! Do fae folk exist outside of Ireland? i know we here at Almost Canon believe they do! So this week were venturing deep into the arctic circle and investigating the stories of the 'Little People', specifically the Arctic Pygmies. This week we take a look at the Ariel School UFO incident, which happened in September of 1994. On the morning of September 16th, 1994, 62 children, while playing out at recess, witnessed a mysterious object fall from the sky and land in the field near their playground. What happened from there is something straight out of a Spielberg or Cameron film. Four entities exited the craft and began psychically communicating with the students, showing these 10 years olds, all sorts of images of a dying world. This week we talk with W. Boyd, who came face to face with a dogman one morning, while bow hunting with his father. The two had started their trip by parking in a lot near a piece of property they owned and began walking into the woods. It wasn't long until Boyd began hearing something something them. It would walk when they walked and stopped when they stopped. He pointed this out to his father, who couldn't hear that good, but they continued on to their hunt. But it didn't take long for Boyd to figure out what was following them because it was already at his hunting spot, seemingly waiting there for him! This week we talk about Bigfoot in Vermont otherwise known as the Green Mountain State. Vermont is one of the smallest states in the Union but it is incredibly wooded. After hearing from friend of the show, Thom Pollard, and being told about an abandoned campsite found not too far from me, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I decided to cover two Missing 411 cases that have fascinated me for 15 years. Our first case takes place in Washington State and involves a climber who seemingly disappeared from the end of a climbing rope, almost as though he unclipped and stepped out into the sky. This week Nick kicks off Spooky Season with his own haunting! He tells the story of a spirit who could mimic the voices of others and was intelligent enough to hold complete conversations. This was something Nick experienced while living in Northern NH in an old, house that even looked haunted to the casual passerby. After that we re-listen to another story of a haunted house in New Hampshire. This is one of the best ghost stories we've heard on the show and stands several generations, going all the way back to the 1870's, where an assault on a young woman by a traveling farmhand, may have resulted in murder. there's even some physical evidence associated with this case, which was collected while renovating the house.
