Braden Bishop Learned Who he Was When major league Baseball Wasn't Enough

Former Seattle Mariners outfielder Braden Bishop lived the dream every young baseball player imagines—making it to the Major Leagues.  Braden  achieved that dream in unforgettable fashion. His very first Major League game came in Tokyo when he replaced Ichiro Suzuki during the baseball icon's emotional farewell. It's the kind of debut Hollywood would reject for being too unbelievable.Yet when I asked Braden about the defining moments of his life, he didn't start with baseball. But as cool as his baseball journey was, it isn't the story that defines him.In this deeply personal conversation, Braden shares how his faith in Jesus took root during his years at the University of Washington, how his mother's heartbreaking battle with early-onset Alzheimer's reshaped his priorities, and how that tragedy inspired the creation of the 4Mom Foundation, helping families facing the same devastating disease.Braden also offers rare insight into life after professional sports, the identity struggles many athletes face, why success alone never satisfies, and how discovering his purpose in Christ fulfilled his need for "completeness".Whether you're a sports fan, caregiver, person of faith, or simply navigating life's unexpected challenges, Braden's honesty, wisdom, and hope will encourage you long after the episode ends. He is a young man destined for even more amazing things! If you want to help with a donation click here!"Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

    Bonus: God continues to work

One of the unexpected blessings of hosting Amazing Greats has been discovering that many of our guests’ stories don’t end when we stop recording. In fact, some of the most remarkable chapters happen after the interview is over.Over the past four years, we’ve had the privilege of sharing the testimonies of athletes, authors, musicians, actors, and business leaders, whose lives have been shaped by God’s grace. While each episode captures a moment in time, God’s work continues long after the microphones are turned off. That’s why, from time to time, I’d love to bring you back to visit some of these familiar friends and hear what God has been doing since we first met them.Today we’re revisiting one of the most memorable guests we’ve ever featured—commercial pilot Ted Greenfield, founder of Invisible Angels. If you remember Episode 77 from September 2025, you probably remember being amazed by Ted’s extraordinary journey. God called him to launch a ministry that provides safe air transportation for survivors of human trafficking, helping move rescued victims to safe houses, medical care, family reunification, and new beginnings. It was a story filled with unexpected turns, impossible circumstances, and one unmistakable theme: God’s faithful provision.Since that conversation, God has continued writing Ted’s story.Recently, Ted reached out and said, “Ric, I have to tell you what happened.”What followed was another reminder that our God is never finished working behind the scenes—and that His timing, provision, and creativity often leave us shaking our heads in amazement. Thus...this short bonus update. And if you never had the opportunity to hear Ted’s original conversation, I encourage you to go back and listen. It remains one of the most inspiring stories we’ve shared on Amazing Greats. Here is a direct link to Ted's full storyDirect link to the Apple Podcast Direct Link to the YouTube videoOne of my hopes for Amazing Greats is that our guests become more than interviews—they become part of a growing family. As God continues to work through their lives, I hope to occasionally bring you these “next chapter” moments. They’re wonderful reminders that God doesn’t stop writing when an episode ends.Neither does He stop writing our stories."Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

On fire for Jesus after 50!

A storm with towering waves has a way of stripping life down to what’s real. When Dr. Arnie Cole found himself staring up at water he was sure would kill him, every confident system he’d built collapsed in seconds and a raw, honest prayer rose in its place. That night didn’t just save his life. It rerouted it, launching a late-in-life faith story that still shapes how he thinks about purpose, behavior change, and what it means to finish well. We talk with Arnie from Lincoln, Nebraska about his unlikely path: from a Christian upbringing to walking away at 19, to building a high-impact career in behavior modification and human-centered design, then retiring early and discovering that comfort can quietly become a cage. He shares how he and his wife, both former Christian skeptics, stepped into church again, learned ministry through Mission Aviation Fellowship and YWAM, and eventually helped transform Back to the Bible from a traditional radio model into a digital discipleship ministry focused on daily spiritual fitness. We also dig into the practical side of personalized Bible engagement, including tools like BTTB.ai designed to meet people where they actually are. Then we get to the heart of his new book, The Over 50 Advantage, and the research that sparked it: many Christians over 50 report worry and criticizing others as top struggles, and many admit they rarely share their faith despite deep Bible knowledge. Arnie argues that retirement culture can sideline the most equipped generation, and he offers a better framework: define what “a win” is now, become your own advocate, and choose daily steps that move you closer to Jesus than yesterday. If you’re rethinking retirement, craving renewed purpose, or wondering why spiritual growth feels stalled, this conversation will challenge you in the best way. Subscribe for more conversations like this, share the episode with a friend who needs a second wind, and leave a review so more people can find these stories of faith and transformation."Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

Scientist Dr. Steve Osborne's Case For God From The Big Bang To The Empty Tomb

On this episode of Amazing Greats, we sit down with Dr. Steve Osborne, a lifelong scientist whose identity was built on evidence, research, and reason—until those very tools led him somewhere he never expected. From a childhood with no faith framework to earning a PhD in experimental psychology, Steve’s journey is one of grit, intellect, and relentless pursuit of truth. But everything began to shift when he encountered compelling evidence for Christianity that challenged everything he thought he knew. What followed was a deeply personal and intellectual crossroads—where science and faith didn’t collide, but converged. In this powerful conversation, Steve shares how examining the evidence—from the origins of the universe to the resurrection—led him to a life-changing decision. If you’ve ever wondered whether science and Christianity can truly coexist, or if faith requires you to check your brain at the door… this episode will challenge you, stretch you, and just might change the way you see everything. If this episode got your wheels turning, you’ll definitely want to check out Steve’s book Beyond Chance. Author Doug Hankins on Singleness & Faith

In this powerful episode of Amazing Greats, I sit down with pastor, professor, and now author Doug Hankins to unpack a topic that impacts nearly half of America—but is often misunderstood in the church: singleness. Drawing from his new book Still Single, Still Called, Doug challenges cultural and church narratives that treat singleness as a problem to be solved rather than a calling to be embraced. From his own journey—from teenage atheist to devoted follower of Christ—to decades of ministry alongside single adults, Doug offers a refreshing and deeply biblical perspective: the real issue isn’t singleness, it’s loneliness—and the solution is authentic community. Together, Doug and I explore how churches can better welcome and empower singles, why Jesus and Paul modeled a full life without marriage, and how shifting our focus from matrimony to meaningful community changes everything. If you want to listen to my original conversation with Doug Hankins  where we delve into his personal story, and his great recounting and observations from the revival at Asbury University, check out Episode #45 of Amazing Greats.  To order his book: "Still Single, Still Called: A Guide for Christian Singles and Those Who Love Them""Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

Jim Ryun: Faith, Olympics, Congress & Camps

A lot of people know Jim Ryun as the high school kid who became a three-time Olympian and set a world record for breaking the 4 minute mile (that held for 36 years) and the guy who later served five terms in Congress. We wanted to go deeper than the highlight reel and ask what he’s built that’s lasted the longest: the Jim Ryun Running Camps, now entering year 51, and the simple system that keeps shaping young athletes long after the medals and elections fade. The camps emphasize real distance running fundamentals that parents, coaches, and high school runners can use right away: threshold training, tempo work, smarter recovery, and why rest is a skill. Jim also shares what the camp teaches about nutrition and performance, including a clear warning about how sugar can quietly drain energy and health. We even get into phones and social media, and why attention is one of the most important training tools your athlete has.The heart of the conversation is what makes this more than a running camp. Jim explains how he weaves faith and character development into a performance environment, what spiritual challenges he sees in Gen Z athletes, and why transparency from adult mentors matters. He also tells a personal story from his early Christian life that pushed him out of comfort and into service, a reminder that belief becomes real when it turns into action. If you care about youth sports, endurance training, Christian athletics, or raising grounded competitors, you’ll take something practical from this one. Subscribe, share this with a runner or a parent, and leave a review so more people can find the show. For his in depth life story, make sure to check out our first conversation with Jim on Episode #23  of Amazing Greats from 2021."Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

The operating room is his happy place.  Doing God's healing work with the audio backdrop of Contemporary Christian music and an occasional Bible quiz with his surgical staff.  Dr. Robert Kayal has build a "one stop" orthopedic care empire.  The 20 Kayal Orthopedic Centers in New Jersey and New York were born out of  his love of God, love of people, gifted hands, and an innate desire to "fix things".  It was Dr. Kayal's pastor, who helped to ignite his life long career in medicine by encouraging him to use his God given gifts as his mission field.  Doing what he does to glorify God.  It is on that foundation that he has built his practice.  His staff of over 100 health care professionals are blessed with the deep rooted culture of Christianity at his clinics.  In his recent book, "Mastering the Business of Medicine & the Doctor-Patient Relationship" Dr. Kayal articulates his 7 C's philosophy and shares that with us in this episode as well. Everyone has a unique faith journey...and you'll hear how Dr. Kayal's was as, thoughtful, intense and mindful as his journey to become a surgeon.  Enjoy the amazing, God--centered career path of this inspiring guest on this episode of Amazing Greats. "Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

Music's Healing Power with Steve Siler

Steve Siler has written hundreds of songs , nine of them were #1 Christian Contemporary songs and 45 of them top 10. His songs have been recorded by some of the countries biggest stars...Kenny Loggins, Smokey Robinson, Patty Labelle, the Oak Ridge boys and others. To say the very least his song wrting skills are a true gift from God. Born out of his love of music at a very early age, combined with finding his way to Jesus as a teen was the fertile ground for what turned out to be his life's work. Although he loved writing Christian hits, he found his special niche in writing songs that address the challenges of our current culture:  eating disorders, body imaging, pornography, anxiety, additions, alzheimers, cancer and much more.  You'll hear how music has a unique way of breaking through to help heal wounds and bridge the challenges that so many face.  It was hearing his first hit song played on the radio that changed his musical direction and ultimately launched "Music for the Soul", Steve's non-profit organization that has been doing this amazing work for the past two decades.  In this episode you'll get to hear a brief sample of a couple of his most powerful and well known songs that will help you understand his mission and passion.  Find out more, listen to his healing music and help support his mission at www.musicforthesoul.org."Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

Jesse Butterworth: Musician Blessed with the Gift of Music

Hearing Christian stories in their triumphs and challenges is always inspiring.  In this episode we're tracking the journey of musician, songwriter, worship team member and church planter, Jesse Butterworth.  While many Christian lives start with their roots in early family life, most blossom later as we grow, mature and come to a true relationship with Jesus, in a real way.  And every story is unique.  Jesse's "moment" came in a dorm room listening to James Taylor. It was at this same Christian College that he hooked up with 3 other like-minded musician "want-to-be's" and started  a rag tag rock and roll band that led to an early signing to a record label, recording in Nashville and an album that won them multiple DOVE award nominations and a chance to play on the televised Dove Awards show.   All happening at the age of 22.  A crazy, God driven,  career trajectory!  A career that saw a dramatic change for Jesse in an instant,  while on stage playing a 5 minute 80's rock medley.  You'll hear about Jesse's recording journey to the Abby Road Studios and playing the same piano that John Lennon did, and singing through the same microphone that Elton, the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Adelle, and others sang on over the years.   A dream come true.  You can sample the album  “All The Gold I’ve Struck” recorded at Abby Road and learn more about Jesse's work at: https://www.jessebutterworth.com/You can also watch the hilariously fun video Our Good Old Days that we talk about in the pod.Our conversation is filled with fun and laughter and hopefully some inspiration.  Don't miss a word of it.  Oh and you can help us grow our podcast audience by sharing this with a friend, "liking" it and leaving a review.  It really helps spread the word.God Bless."Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

"Strength in weakness" with Joe Wankelman

God "shows off" with powerful miracles in the lives and stories of his people.  And that is what the Amazing Greats podcast does;  shares those stories. Joe Wankelman's story is an inspiring showcase of God's goodness.  From a childhood of drama with his mother pretty much disappearing and his dad self focused, he was mostly raised by a caring grandmother.  Joe didn't read until he was in 7th grade...graduated with a 1.9 GPA and was called "stupid" by many throughout his years growing up and even labeled himself with that. This story is a modern day showcase of what the Bible says:  In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul quotes Jesus who said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Wankelman's early challenges were God's opportunity to demonstrate his miracle power. Joe became one of the few highly skilled pilots of one of the worlds most sophisticated aircraft, the Apache helicopter, and flew multiple heroic missions in combat during the "war on terror" after 9/11,  hitting precision targets and saving many American soldier's  lives on the ground.   As he describes it, he and the Apache became a unique team of man and machine.  He is truly an American hero.   Make sure to listen to this podcast all the way to the end, because the story just gets better and better.  You've heard me mention the name of my mentor, George Toles, many times in several episodes of AMAZING GREATS, and today you'll get an even greater glimpse of George's impact in 2018 as part of Joe Wankelman's story.  You can reach out to Joe if you are thinking about a forming a small group of men, for his input and advice: [email protected]"Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

Suffering to service with "fitness expert" Jimmy Pena

Suffering can be the gateway to a deeper relationship with God.  For Jimmy Pena, it was a defining moment, that changed everything.  It was the beginning of a climb up his second mountain.  A lifelong Christian....his relationship with Jesus and his life purpose made a 180 degree pivot after a devastating diagnosis and health crisis.  At first it resulted in his questioning everything, re-working his life and heading down a new path.  But it wasn't easy.  I truly loved this conversation with a man who went from being a nationally known picture of health (literally) to  incapacitated, immobile, and struggling to survive. Jimmy Pena, working with the legendary Joe Weider, was one of the most published authorities on fitness, health and body building, including a best selling book, "Prayfit".  He coached some of Hollywood's most elite actors in preparation for movie roles..including Tyler Perry, Mario Lopez and LL Cool J.   That was his first mountain. His first chapter.  You'll hear about that on this episode, but more importantly you'll hear how a Batman Movie helped to flip the script and launch a trajectory of life long service in his powerful 2nd (current) chapter.  I've never met anyone more humble and more committed to living a life of service and committed to loving God.  His amazing life story of mountain tops and valleys is truly inspiriting.Enjoy getting to know Jimmy in this podcast...and dig deeper into the episode by checking out:His "Prayfit" website: https://www.prayfit.org/His latest Book: Finding Re2pite: When Faith & Fitness Meet Grace in SufferingAnd the amazing work of Joni Erickson Tada: https://joniandfriends.org/"Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

The power of building business on Christian values- With CEO Bill Yeargin

Bill Yeargin leads a billion dollar boat and marine supply super company on a culture of service. Service to the industry, yes, but just as important is the service to his 2000 employees as well as serving humanity through dozens of mission trips to underprivileged communities in countries around the world.  Correct Craft was founded 100 years ago with a mission to "build boats for the glory of God."  That remains their mission today under the leadership of our guest, who over the last 15 years turned a struggling company in turmoil into a rapidly growing, and hugely profitable leader in the marine industry with over 21 brands and manufacturing plants all over the United States.  In this episode you'll hear how his decision to take on this challenge, leave his dream home and move his family came in the form of a couple of clear signs from God.  He also shares his three P's for creating a positive, and winning company culture as well as his commitment to modeling Christian values in the workplace without pressuring anyone.  In his latest book, "Faith Leap"  Bill explains in a clear and easy-to-understand manner why he is a Christian.  Throughout the book he shares what he believes to be the layers of evidence that lay an intellectual foundation for belief in Jesus.  Bill Yeargin is a wise leader, speaker, and author who I know you will find inspiring.  Take a listen, share this conversation with a friend...and grab a copy of his book (s).Faith Leap: So, Why Do You Believe That?Education of a CEO: Lessons for LeadersMaking Life Better: The Correct Craft StoryEducation of a Traveler"Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

Surviving the saddest story in baseball with pitcher Dave Dravecky

Dave Dravecky, a left-handed major league pitcher who played for the Padres and Giants, brings his infectious zest for life and his compelling life narrative to this episode. He recounts his personal faith journey, starting from a seemingly mystical encounter with God on a playground at the age of 12, a memory that has stayed with him for over 50 years. His path to a deeper connection with God was marked by various pivotal moments, such as a transformative baseball trip to South America where he witnessed extreme poverty, a roommate who shared a small baseball book, and a Bible he found in a hotel room drawer.Listening to Dave share the challenging highs and lows of his journey, which included a battle with cancer, treatment, and an unexpected return to baseball, is truly inspiring. Despite being dubbed the "come-back kid" after his return to the sport,  Dave's life shortly after,  once again took a major turn.  He emphasizes the importance of learning to express his struggles during tough times, highlighting that even Christians can experience depression. His remarkable story is nothing short of extraordinary, and I encourage you to hear all the inspiring details directly from him on Amazing Greats."Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

Here is the heartwarming story of  a man and his canine police partner.  Mark Tappan,  a self confessed "non-planner",  found his way on the perfectly (divinely?) planned  career trajectory that lead him from a "Jesus epiphany" in the US Marine Corp,  to youth pastor to police officer and then the human companion of  A DOG NAMED MATTIS.   Now with 5 million followers on social media and a new book,  he shares his special bond and amazing true life stories along with his 6 year canine crime fighter.  You'll hear some of the inside challenges of police dog training,  and what made Mattis an exceptional straight "A" certification graduate.   Mark is a gifted story teller and has some amazing stories to tell.   He shares a couple of them in this episode, including Angels who sang an unlikely  Neil Diamond song, a heart wrenching story of an  incredible kid who had a heart transplant,  and a Mark and Mattis police chase.  (among others)One might think pastoring and policing is an odd career progression  but Mark is convinced, for him, it was a God inspired combination that helped him find his true gift and passion.  And now he shares his story in a book with 12 chapters,  12 stories, and 12 lessons he learned in the process.  A Dog Named Mattis: 12 Lessons for Living Courageously, Serving Selflessly, and Building Bridges from a Heroic K9 Officer  PS.  Remember,  DOG spelled backwards is GOD.  So, there is that."Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

"Jesus didn't start a religion"- With Doug Burleigh

A $300  a month job, with very little status or perks, upended his career trajectory and shaped Doug Burleigh's next 50 years.  As a "Young Life" summer camper in his teens  he  uncovered what a relationship with Jesus looked like.  After excelling in academics in high school and college, it appeared he'd laid the ground work  for a career to skyrocketing career with several lucrative and prestigious options.  But the God inspired decision he made at that point changed everything,  as he found his passion and success was found in helping to change and shape the lives of young people and later to share the Gospel in he most god forsaken parts of the world.   This Amazing Greats episode traces a truly  fascinating life of serving.  Doug's  Jesus-focused mission was not about promoting religion but rather was laser focused on building relationship.  Relationship with Jesus and relationships with young people in Young Life and relationships with people around the world at Prayer Breakfasts, and other Jesus gatherings as far away as Russia, Ukraine and other countries from the former Soviet Union, South America, and right here at home in Washington DC.    Through a  Non-denominational, non-political group called "The Fellowship" Doug continues today reaching out and sharing the love, grace and  good news of Jesus.   Inspiration, and wisdom  are the hallmarks of this conversation with Doug Burleigh..  Enjoy!

"Super Bowl Seahawk" trusted God -Clint Gresham

You'll love this story of a young "feeling" kid, who is ADHD, filled with anxiety and lacking in self confidence but ends up as a Super Bowl champion in the NFL and a sought after speaker and author.  In this episode we walk through the up and down seasons in the life of Seahawk's long snapper, Clint Gresham.  As a boy growing up in Texas, church was always a part of his story....but it became the focus of his story when he made a radical shift in 2009 when one month changed his life to this day.  It happened with the help of a mentor who cared enough to be present and to speak into his life.  Clint's football story includes times of disappointment, frustration and heartache but his obedience to God, as crazy at it seemed at times, revealed HIS awesome grace on the other side.  You'll hear some inside thoughts on coach Pete Carroll, plus Clint's call to create a prophetic video called, "The Making of a Champion",  as well as the intense emotion that a Super Bowl win and loss  can evoke.  Our conversation took a deep dive into the power of words, and some thoughts on the value of pain and so many other inspiring bits of wisdom. Santana to Hosanna with Leon Patillo

He was the lead singer of one of the worlds most popular rock bands, and hung out  with the likes of Smokey Robinson, The Pointer Sisters, Earth Wind and Fire and more.   Leon Patillo was the lead singer for Santana and his music career was legendary.   In the late 70's his life pivoted and he made the dramatic switch to what turned out to be the very beginnings of Contemporary Christian Music.  Creating music that worshiped God with lyrics of praise in a totally new musical form with catchy choruses and rock band styling.  Drums, electric guitars and electronic keyboards helped to bring the word of God to a whole new generation.  And it all started as a kid on a homemade cardboard keyboard.Leon worked closely with Bill Graham, the  concert promoter,  and then Billy Graham the evangelist.   From being baptized by the renowned pastor who was at the heart of the Jesus Revolution, Chuck Smith, to a concert tour in Ukraine, and the launch of a program for Kids, called SING...Leon's story has Jesus all over it.   A movie about his fascinating life and the true story of a bullied suicidal teen  are in the works, likely to be released in 2025.  Enjoy these few minutes with Leon Patillo.

Homeless in LA, then, in-demand actor with Jonathan Cotton

Sometimes it takes a leap of faith.  Literally.  It was a leap with no real landing spot for this creative genius when he packed his vehicle and headed off to the entertainment capital of LOS ANGELES.  His only destination for sure was a storage unit there for his possessions.  His wife and five kids were dropped off with friends in Redding and he was headed for a God inspired adventure into the wild world of acting....voice acting.  No home, no job, just a promise from God that this was where he needed to be.  God's never wrong.  Jonathan listened and responded to the call, in faith, and is now a  successful talent in one of the most competitive industries in the world.  His cast of character voices, set him apart from most, and his "story teller" voice is smooth, natural and able to relate any story with ease.  Bible verses, book readings and musical vocals he does it all.    In this episode you will hear his work, get to know this warm and loving Christian man, and walk away inspired by his life story and Christian Journey.  Jonathan Cotton  and his story are indeed AMAZING!If you are struggling with a major life decision or have taken your own leap of faith at some point...you will be able to relate to what listening and responding looks likeWhat's next for Jonathan?  We asked.  I loved his answer.                               ___________________________________________________________Also in this conversation we mentioned another voice talent we talked to in Episode #12 , Melissa Disney. We briefly brought up another actor who has become the voice of the Bible on the YouVersion App,  Max Maclean, our guest on Episode  #24. #voicetalent, #Jonathancotton, #voiceactor, #amazon, #jeffBezos,#animation"Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

Pumping iron for Jesus with Gym owner PJ Glassey

Our Amazing Greats episode today focuses on  the science of fitness combined with the power of spirituality.  Our guest, PJ Glassey, was our  guest to make the youngest alter call at the age of 6,  which launched a life long journey in Christ.  From that, combined with his passion for fitness, was the starting place for the birth of the XGyms and the XGym app.  His unique approach to fitness was built on 3 characteristics:  It is designed for people with a busy life style, it's safe and focuses on strength and endurance, not on body building and bulk.  You'll hear the specifics on how his fitness methods work and the science behind it.  PJ explains his thoughts on the power of the mind and the importance of faith in developing a healthy and fit lifestyle.  He clearly outlines the need to understand your body type and your mental strengths and weaknesses before you launch your fitness journey, and how to be successful in making a healthy life change that can be sustained over time.  The Bible says that our bodies are our temple and a gift from God.  It is with gratitude for that gift that we are called to take care of it.  You'll hear PJ's awesome God moments, and challenges and how fitness can be obtained by all of us no matter what shape we are currently in.I hope you'll find his story inspiring and a call to take our health seriously celebrating God's gifts without consuming our lives. Here is the link to the XGym App https://xgym.com/membership-account/membership-checkout/And the Home page for the Website:https://xgym.com"Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

" The Eve Of Destruction" launched Barry McGuire's God story

Barry McGuire rocked  the world of Top 40 music with a brash,  scathing depiction of a world in turmoil.  His number one hit song  "Eve of Destruction"  focused on the chaos surrounding the  Vietnam war , the draft,  Nuclear weapons,  civil rights,  and communism.  It was so controversial,  some radio stations and some countries banned the song from the airwaves.  It jumped to the the top of billboard magazine in 1965, bumping the Beatles "Help" out of the number one spot. Although that song helped Barry McGuire capture a place in rock history, his life story is a slice out of the American music narrative.  McGuire was a key player in the very early days of folk and rock music.  He started with the New Christie Minstrels,  hung out with the best of the best musicians in LA, was a singer song writer and produced 26 albums, acted in movies, was part of the cast of the Broadway smash, 'HAIR' and was a devoted follower of Jesus from 1971 to today.  It's all here on this episode of Amazing Greats.  If your are looking for even more proof  of God's presence take a listen.

He has shared his story with tens of thousands of people helping them turn their “mess” into a “MESS-AGE”...of hope, in a world of chaos, misery, confusion and dark oppression.#brianarnold #mafia #cardshark #suicide #depression #amazinggreats #christianpodcast"Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.

The powerful God movement at Asbury University- Pastor Doug Hankins was there.

God is up to something among Generation Z.  Young people at Asbury University and dozens of other college campuses across the country are experiencing a movement of love and connection with Jesus that has grabbed the attention of people around the world.  Not unlike the Jesus movement of the 60s and 70s a youth revival seems to have taken  shape.  On this episode of Amazing Greats, Pastor Doug Hankins a theological revival historian,  shares his unique perspective on this awakening by taking us on a day trip to Asbury in the midst of the recent revival.  An event that grew organically out of a typical Chapel service on the Morning of February 8th 2023.  An event that lasted over 300 hours and 16 days.  It wasn't programmed or planned, it was not well produced and slick, there were no celebrity singers or guest speakers.  It was a raw outpouring of God's grace where the X Factor was clearly the presence of Jesus.  If you are as intrigued by what's going on, as I am, you will find this conversation really powerful and hopeful. A quick 8 minute Asbury video recapThe Jesus Revolution movie trailer.“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. God on the move- ask Wayne Pederson

It was one year ago that we had the opportunity to hear the story of broadcaster and Christian , Wayne Pederson.  As a young disc jockey he was in love with the radio business, but at one point was willing to give up this passion for a more powerful force in his life:  his commitment to Jesus.  The God nod was....do both.   That's when he launched a career of using AM, FM,  Shortwave and the internet to bring God's word to some of the most isolated and least Christian parts of the world.   In this episode Wayne shares his most challenging life chapter, 2022.  A year he faced  critical health challenges and experienced God's great miracles.  Please listen to the amazing events as they unfolded.  Good is good.

The creator of K-Love radio - Bob Anthony

A new music industry blossomed when radio stations began giving Christian Music artists a platform to reach millions nationwide.  In a world where Christian radio was dominated by pay-for-play teaching and preaching programs one guy had a new idea.  His name is Bob Anthony.   You'll hear how a rock and roll Top 40 DJ helped ignite an all new way to share the Gospel.  He put the first high energy, lively and engaging music driven radio station on the air in the late 70's that proved successful in building a new kind of Christian radio audience.  Young contemporary artists emerged and began to write a new kind of worship music, many of which took their origins from the book of Psalms or other scripture and gave them a good beat, catchy melody and created hit music that glorified God. That was the start of what has become the worlds largest Christian radio network, K-LOVE,  that reaches 7 million people every week with  positive and encouraging music in a presentation that is not unlike what Top 40 stations have been doing for years.  You can watch the complete K-LOVE story beginning with Bob Anthony's original idea right up to the legendary place it holds in contemporary Christian Music today on this YouTube video. https://youtu.be/GzLrjdleLXk"Amazing Greats"  is a library of interviews with highly successful people who have amazing career and life stories and who share how God has impacted their journey.  Hosted by broadcaster Ric Hansen & produced by Klem Daniels.   Available on Apple,  Spotify, iHeart, Google and our  YouTube Channel. Please help us grow our audience by "liking", "subscribing and "Sharing".   Thanks so much.
