S2 Ep67: Short Story Wednesday -- The Beach & Big Goals
This week’s Short Story Wednesday is a little different. We’re sharing two recent moments from our own lives that have had us thinking a lot about gratitude, purpose, and what might be ahead.First, we share a little about our recent trip to the Oregon Coast—a place that holds a lot of meaning for Mikaela. Years ago, she went there during one of the hardest seasons of our infertility journey, wondering why the one thing she wanted most still hadn’t happened. Seven years later, we returned to that same beach with our two kids running through the sand.It was a beautiful reminder that some of the things we have today are the very things we once prayed desperately for. Then we share some pretty big dreams for the future of Angels Among Us. We don’t just want to grow a podcast—we want to use this platform to become angels for other people. Whether that means helping with groceries or bills, helping a family with adoption or IVF, or simply being there for someone who needs it.We don’t know exactly where this journey will take us, but we’re putting the dream out there—and we’re grateful you’re along for it.Go look for those angels. 🤍

S2 Ep66: 12 Hours Later... A Miracle -- Hunter Rasmussen
In a matter of seconds, Hunter Rasmussen’s life changed forever. While hunting with his cousin, Hunter was accidentally shot in the leg. As he was being carried toward a Life Flight helicopter, unsure of what was going to happen, he asked God, “Is everything going to be okay?”The answer came clearly: “Hunter, everything’s gonna be okay. It’s gonna work out.”What followed included emergency surgery, the loss of his leg, an incredibly difficult recovery, and moments that tested Hunter physically, emotionally, and spiritually. But through it all, that simple promise stayed with him.In this episode, Hunter shares the remarkable circumstances surrounding his rescue, the angels he believes were working on his behalf, and the faith that helped him move forward when his life suddenly looked completely different than he had planned.Hunter’s story is a powerful reminder that God’s promise that things will work out doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll work out the way we expect—but it does mean He can be with us through all of it.Go look for those angels. 🤍Follow Hunter here: https://www.instagram.com/1_legged_hunter/Content note: This episode includes discussion of an accidental shooting, serious injury, amputation, and medical trauma.Have you encountered angels? S2 Ep65: Short Story Wednesday on a Thursday
Short Story Wednesday… on a Thursday. 😂This week we're sharing a few life updates, an incredible act of generosity from one of our own “angels,” and a simple challenge that we're bringing into our home: choosing a scripture each week to ponder, memorize, and carry with us.And this week's scripture couldn't fit Angels Among Us any better:“Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” — 2 Kings 6:16Sometimes we can only see what's right in front of us. But what if we could see everything God has placed around us? What if our eyes were opened, like Elisha's servant, to see that we have never been as alone as we thought? We hope you'll join us in “ponderizing” a scripture each week—and maybe start with this one.Go look for those angels. 🤍

S2 Ep64: Someone Fought For Me -- Tracey & Hannah Gray
Tracey’s life began in circumstances no child should ever have to endure. After entering the foster care system as a baby, he experienced severe childhood trauma and abuse that eventually led to addiction, treatment facilities, suicide attempts, and years of trying to outrun his past. But God kept placing people in his path who refused to give up on him.His adoptive parents. A caseworker who fought for him. A judge who saw something worth saving. And eventually Hannah—the woman who would become his wife and help him realize that what he had been through did not have to define who he was.Today, Tracey is a husband, father, firefighter, and paramedic. And in an incredible full-circle chapter of his story, the former foster child eventually became a foster father himself. When Hannah and Tracey welcomed Austin into their home, they had no idea how many “Godwinks” would surround his adoption—including an unbelievable connection between Austin’s case and Tracey’s own foster-care story decades earlier. This is a powerful conversation about trauma, recovery, faith, marriage, foster care, adoption, redemption, and the angels God places in our lives when we need someone willing to fight for us.And Hannah and Tracey leave us with this beautiful truth:There is nowhere you can go that Jesus won’t still love you. Your sin can never outrun God’s grace.Go look for those angels. 🤍Content note: This episode includes discussion of childhood abuse, sexual abuse, suicide attempts, addiction, and the death of a child.Have you encountered angels? S2 Ep63: Short Story Wednesday -- I Know That My Redeemer Lives
In this week’s Short Story Wednesday, it’s just Brent and Mikaela, and things get a little bit all over the place. 😂We’re calling out a few states that apparently need to step up their Angels Among Us listening game, talking about hitting more than 100 episodes, dreaming about some new Angels Among Us merch, and sharing a beautiful story about a little boy who remembered the grandfather who “brought him to earth.”But underneath all the fun is a reminder we both needed.Sometimes God’s answers don’t come through huge miracles. Sometimes they come through a phone call, a friend who stays, a spouse who carries us through a hard season, or someone who says exactly what we needed to hear. And sometimes the difficult things we go through are the very experiences that help us come to know our Savior personally.Brent shares why he can say with confidence, “I know that my Redeemer lives,” and Mikaela reminds us that when heaven feels quiet, the answer to “Where are You, God?” may be standing right beside us.We hope this episode reminds you to notice the people God has placed in your path—and to remember the truths you already know. And as always…Go look for those angels.

S2 Ep62: "Mom, I Was Told To" -- Melody & Krissa
What happens when the miracle isn’t the ending you prayed for?In this powerful episode of Angels Among Us, Melody shares the story of her son Adam—a little boy whose life was filled with unmistakable moments of faith, miracles, and angels.Years before Adam became sick, their family survived a terrifying car accident. Just before the crash, six-year-old Adam turned around and grabbed onto the seat—a decision that may have saved his life. When everyone later told him how smart he had been, Adam simply told his mom:“Mom, I was told to.”A few years later, at just nine years old, Adam was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer. What followed were years of chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, hospital stays, moments of hope, and devastating news. Through it all, Melody and her family began to recognize the many ways God was preparing them, carrying them, and placing angels in their path.Perhaps most powerful of all was Adam’s own faith. As his cancer progressed, Melody asked him if he knew what it was like to die. His eyes lit up.“Yes, Mom. You’re with people that love you. And you don’t have pain.”Not long after, Adam told her he needed to prepare because he would be “leaving on my mission really soon.”This episode is about childhood cancer and unimaginable loss—but it is also about something much bigger: a loving Heavenly Father who does not leave us alone in our hardest moments.Melody’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes angels come as family members, neighbors, doctors, church members, or strangers who simply show up when we need them most. And sometimes, those angels may be on the other side of the veil.We hope Adam’s story strengthens your faith, helps you recognize God’s hand in your own life, and reminds you to cherish the ordinary moments with the people you love.❤️ If this episode touches you, please share it with someone who may need it today, and subscribe or follow Angels Among Us for more stories of faith, hope, miracles, and the angels God places in our lives."Go look for those angels."Have you encountered angels? Sometimes the most meaningful miracles aren’t dramatic—they’re spoken. While on a family reunion at Bear Lake, Brent and Mikaela tried a simple activity with their kids, nieces, and nephews: everyone took turns sharing something they genuinely loved about each person in the car. What started as a fun conversation quickly became emotional as hearts opened and people heard things about themselves they had never heard before. In this short episode, Brent and Mikaela talk about why we so often leave kind words unspoken, how hearing sincere encouragement can change the way we see ourselves, and why God often uses ordinary people to remind us that we are loved. This week, we have one simple challenge for you: tell someone why you love them. You never know how much they may need to hear it.Go be an angel. Sometimes the message God wants someone to receive is one that He sends through you.

In this deeply personal and emotional episode of Angels Among Us, Brent and Mikaela sit down with someone incredibly close to their hearts—Alex. If you’ve been following along, you heard Heidi’s side of this story last week. Now, Alex shares her perspective—what it was like growing up adopted, navigating relationships with both her adoptive and birth families, and eventually meeting the people she had only known about from a distance. From childhood curiosity to teenage questions, and finally to a powerful, full-circle moment meeting her entire birth family, Alex opens up about identity, love, and the complexity of belonging to more than one family. She shares the quiet struggles—wondering where she fit, trying not to hurt anyone, and processing emotions that many adoptees face but don’t always talk about. But more than anything, this episode is about love—the kind that spans years, distance, and circumstances.Alex also shares touching experiences where she felt guided, protected, and reminded that she was never alone—including a powerful moment on Christmas Day that changed her perspective forever. This is a story about adoption, faith, identity, and the undeniable truth that we are placed exactly where we’re meant to be.Follow Alex and her business here:https://www.instagram.com/alexbeautyglow?igsh=MTJmbWJxamwzNmxkaw%3D%3D&utm_source=qrHave you encountered angels?
