  1. Disciple

    A disciple is a pupil of a teacher or rabbi. To be a disciple you must make a commitment and be obedient. We can strive to be disciples of Jesus .

  2. Discernment

    To discern is to distinguish right from wrong. We don't want to be deceived. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to make clear decisions Having spiritual clarity helps us see through distractions and align with God's will.

  3. The Essenes

    The Essenes were a Jewish sect that lived at Qumran, a settlement by the Dead Sea. We were aware of them through historians like Josephus and Philo. When the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered , we found out more about them. There is still controversy about them because they were mysterious.

  4. Living Water

    We look at some scriptures about Living Water. Water was needed in Isreal, a hot and dry region, and it represented God's presence and restoration. Jesus offers belief in Him as the fountain of Living Water. You will thirst no more.

  5. Upon This Rock

    We look at some scriptures about the church and ideas about the church. Then we look at Jesus and the discples going to Caesarea Phillipi. I used Matthew 16:13-18. There are parallel passages in Luke 9:18-21 and Mark 8:27-29.

  6. Promises of God Part 2

    We talk about some of the promises of God. There are many in the Bible. These promises assure us, as believers, of His faithfulness and unfailing love.

  7. Faith and Works

    When we have faith and are saved, our conversion should show itself in both fruit and works. Bearing fruit is your actions and the way you carry yourself. Works are deeds like looking after someone that is less fortunate than you.

  8. Psalm 110

    We look at Psalm 110. It is a royal psalm. It is built around two statements from God. The first part is a prophetic oracle and the second part is a divine oath.

  9. Humility

    We look at some scriptures about being humble. We need to separate ourselves from the self-centered people who are proud and boastful. We need to think more of others and look at Jesus' examples to guide us.

  10. Fire of God

    We look at the story of King Ahaziah and his meeting with the prophet Elijah when fire fell from heaven and consumed many soldiers. We must remember that God is not only a God of love but also a God of judgement.

  11. Fall of Jericho

    This was the first city that Israel conquered in Canaan, the promised land. Joshua was obedient and followed the Lord's instruction. The walls came down and the evil city was destroyed.

  12. Peter Rescued

    Luke records how an angel of the Lord rescued Peter from prison. King Herod Agrippa I was trying to slow the early church down. Later, in a prideful speech by King Herod, an angel of the Lord struck down the king. Luke contrasts this by saying the word of God grew and multiplied.

  13. Road to Emmaus

    In Luke chapter 24, Luke reports Jesus' appearance on the road to Emmaus. He joins two followers as they travel from Jerusalem. This leads to an incredible revelation. Luke continues as He appears to the other disciples and also as Jesus gives the great commission and ascends to heaven.

  14. Spiritual Empowerment

    We look at the 2nd prayer in Paul's letter to Ephesus. This is Ephesians 3:14-21. We look at what Paul said about being empowered through the Spirit.

  15. Kingdom of God

    We look at the phrase Kingdom of God. It can mean different things in different contexts. It is something that is now and in the future. We look at some scriptures to help define it. If we strengthen the Kingdom now, we will get ready for the future.

  16. Reconciliation

    We look at reconciling and what it can mean. Paul considered reconciliation to be the purpose of his ministry. We look at Paul's letter to Corinth and see what he had to say about it. Sin was in between us and God. Through Christ, we can now be right with God. Let's let others know.

  17. Contentment

    Most people think contentment comes from material wealth. It will lead to greed. I look at biblical contentment and focusing on Christ's sufficiency instead of self sufficiency.

  18. The First Noel

    This year's Christmas carol, I chose to do CeCe Winan's version since it was recent and sounded so good. I look at the history of the song and the lyrics. I chose a short by Guitar Baba for the tune at the end. I hope everybody has a Merry Christmas and let's remember the Real Reason for the Season!

  19. Wisdom

    We look at some of the aspects of wisdom found in the Bible. I found Job chapter 28 interesting and talk about King Solomon and then look at the gospel to find out more.

  20. Psalm 34

    This is a popular psalm that many verses have been used in songs and scriptures have been revered. It is a psalm of David that is said to have been written about his life. We look at the history and some of the meaning of it. Let's give thanks !

  21. Children of God

    John was telling the believers to be aware of the false teachers and to live as Children of God. We can learn from these scriptures in !st John. When we sin, we must repent. We must draw closer to Jesus and let the Holy Ghost guide us.

  22. Walk in the Spirit

    If we are to live a Spirit-led life, we have to realize that division between the flesh and our spirit. We are naturally inclined to sin but we must grow a relationship with the Holy Spirit, pray and read our Bibles. I look at some of Paul's letters about the flesh and the Spirit.

  23. Strive

    The word strive has many meanings. We strive against sin and temptation. We strive for righteousness or spiritual maturity. It takes dedication and perseverance. I'm dropping this on Podcast Day..

  24. Promises of God

    Sometimes we need encouragement and we can look to promises of God to get this. We can look at what God has done for us and know that He is unchanging and will come through for us.

  25. Repentance

    Since the beginning, we have had sin. There were sacrifices in the Old Testament and shedding of blood. Jesus came and shed His blood so that we can repent and be forgiven. We must do this as believers.

  26. Idolatry

    Throughout the Old and New Testaments, the first and most important law or rule is about our relationship with God. Are we putting God first? Let's get the distractions out of the way and get closer to Him.

  27. Faithfulness

    Faith is an attitude of trust that comes through our obedience to God. In our relationship with God, He is always faithful. We often fail to be faithful to God or even to each other. Let's look at this...

  28. Saved By Grace

    Remember that the only reason we can stand unashamed is not because we're worthy but because of His mercy. We are saved by God's grace alone. There is nothing we can do to merit such favor.

  29. More Psalms

    Today I'm looking at Psalms 33, 66 and 130. These psalms were praising God. Let's remember when we offer praise to God, we are reminded of what he does for us. This is also a way for the lost to learn of His goodness.

  30. Paul and Silas in Jail

    Paul and Silas were misunderstood and got beaten and thrown into jail. They were not griping and complaining, they were praising God. Lets remember that this kind of praise moves God.

  31. Seeking God's Will

    Have you had life changing decisions or career path questions? God has an opinion in the matter and He has a definite plan. He IS interested in your life and He would like to lead you in your decisions.

  32. Human Condition

    Our body, soul and spirit work together to help us live and react to the world. To help our eternal soul go to heaven when we die, we need to live a disciplined life that leads to a Spirit-led life.

  33. Paul in Athens

    When Paul was waiting in Athens, he was brought before the council of Aeropagus and he delivered a message. Many of the Greeks were Epicureans and Stoics which didnt believe in God. This would be a tough crowd to win over...

  34. Jesus and Nicodemus

    Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a member of the Sanhedrin. He was in the educated elite but he was seeking the truth. He recognized Jesus as a great teacher who came from God.

  35. Accountability

    When we become saved, we acquire a responsibility. What are we going to do with the resources that we have been given? Lets get busy and make sure before its too late.

  36. Challenged By Dark Forces

    There seems to be more dark behavior lately. When we try to reach out to people, we may be challenged or even attacked. Lets look at some scripture and ideas to help combat this.

  37. Abide in the Light

    I thought by explaining some of the Greek words and remembering John's experiences with Jesus, we could get a clearer picture of his message to this group. Let's abide in the Light. Lets walk in fellowship with God and realize that we have Jesus as our advocate to make us right with God.

  38. Power-ups (unclutter your mind)

    I have several things we need to do to unclutter our minds. If you feel out of touch with God or just need a boost, try these things.

  39. Selfishness

    In this culture of self focus and selfishness, let's try to consider others that are less fortunate. Lets strive to be more like Jesus.

    What would you do if you got betrayed and accused like Joseph?

  41. Doors in the Bible

    We look at some different doors in the Bible. A door can be an entry or an exit. It can be closed or opened. Think about these examples.

  42. Children of the Light Pt. 2

    This time we look at Paul's letter to the Ephesians. In Chapters 4 and 5, Paul talks about getting out of the darkness and living in the Light.

    This year's Christmas carol is Hark the Herald Angels Sing. I used the Amy Grant version. Lets remember the real reason for the season.

    Benaiah was a mighty man of King David. He also served King Solomon. Let's look at this skillful, courageous soldier and some of his accomplishments.

    I look back on some social media and then we look at witnessing. We can come up with conversation starters and if nothing else, we can "drop a seed" on someone. Lets tell the world about Jesus.

  46. House of Cornelius Pt. 2

    In this episode we look at The Holy Ghost poured out on the Gentiles, Peter's explanation being accepted by the Jews and the start up of the Early Church in Antioch.

    This is the 1st part of the story. The Lord brought two men together to bring the Jews and the Gentiles together in starting the Early Church.

    We look at leadership qualities and Joshua as he takes his role from Moses and the Lord.
