Episode 5: Making Sense of Memes with Silvia Dal Dosso

In this episode of Art & Tech Today, Silvia Dal Dosso explores memes as one of the defining cultural languages of the internet age. From questions of authorship and collective creativity to AI-generated content and online belief systems, Dal Dosso argues that memes are far more than disposable jokes. They are tools for creating meaning, expressing cultural anxieties, and negotiating shared realities in increasingly complex digital environments.Drawing on her work with the art collective Clusterduck, she reflects on the myth of the lone artistic genius and the differences between artistic appropriation and the large-scale extraction of creative work by AI companies. The conversation also explores irony, internet subcultures, the phenomenon of AI-generated meme cults, and what Dal Dosso calls "high frequency meme magic".Silvia Dal Dosso is an artist, researcher, and member of Clusterduck, an interdisciplinary collective investigating internet culture, networked communication, and contemporary mythologies. Through artworks, publications, and exhibitions, Clusterduck explores how memes, online narratives, and digital folklore influence the way we understand ourselves and the world around us.

Episode 4: Feeling the Effects of Digital Technology with Lil Internet

In this episode of Art & Tech Today, Lil Internet argues that 'understanding' digital technologies isn’t enough. We need to feel what they are doing to us.As social media and algorithmic systems reshape our cognition, memory, and behaviour, this conversation explores why theory has failed to translate into real awareness. Lil Internet argues that we need to see digital technologies as environments that actively shape who we are. He advocates for a more embodied, intuitive, and even slightly paranoid relationship to the digital world - one that recognises the depth and strangeness of its influence.Lil Internet is a co-founder of the media platform and podcast New Models, where he first began sharing his experimental monologues and radio plays. He has worked as a video director (Beyoncé), music producer (Azealia Banks), and pop theorist (Artforum, Texte zur Kunst, Kaleidoscope) and has lectured on culture and the internet for the Museum of Modern Art, New York; CPH:DOX, Copenhagen; Dubai Art Forum; and Bundeskunsthalle Bonn. Lil Internet lives and works in Berlin.

In this episode of Art & Tech Today, we speak with cultural and media scientist, Paul Feigelfeld. From digital addiction and data extraction to the myth of decentralization, this conversation explores how today’s technological systems are shaping democracy, community, and the way we think. Why are programmers rarely trained to consider the ethical and political consequences of what they build? Episode 1: Navigating ‘The Bastard Fields’ with Most Dismal Swamp & Rebecca Edwards

In the debut episode of Art & Tech Today, experimental artist Most Dismal Swamp sits down with curator Rebecca Edwards for a deep dive into The Bastard Fields—a trippy, disorienting film that drags the emotional and cultural undercurrents of online life into the light. The conversation spills into the chaos of the digital psyche: neural media loops, meme-speak spirals, depressive realism, and the shadowy “dark forest” where niche subcultures hide out. Together they map the ways digital spaces seep into our moods, instincts, and the stories we tell ourselves. About the speakers: Most Dismal Swamp is the project of curator, artist, and researcher Dane Sutherland (b. 1985, Scotland). Operating through multimedia commissions and speculative collaborations, Most Dismal Swamp spans video, installation, and online hallucinations dredged from the slumgullion world of digital, platform, and neural media. Rebecca Edwards is a London-based curator, writer, and producer whose work explores experimental curatorial methods, new forms of cultural production, and the intersections of technology, digital aesthetics, and internet culture. Formerly curator at arebyte (2017–2024), she is currently co-host of the Future Artefacts Podcast and an access worker for artist Petra Szemán.
