    The disappearance of Israel Rosado

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/usedtobedoe/rosado-israel-may-13-2004-t11791.html https://www.fox61.com/article/news/local/outreach/awareness-months/cold-case-israel-rosado/520-c4570a05-3fb7-4374-a105-a0cdc3b33ec4 **Synopsis:** On May 13, 2004, 21-year-old Israel Rosado mysteriously disappeared after a court appearance in Waterbury, Connecticut. His last confirmed sighting was early that day, which left his family and friends deeply worried. His mother, Carmen Colon, reported him missing on May 19 after six days of silence, an unusual occurrence for a young man who regularly contacted his family. Detectives Renee St. George and retired Detective Roy Bredefeld initiated a comprehensive investigation into his disappearance. Israel had a minor criminal history, which led detectives to interview his friends and associates. Despite his charm, he lacked steady employment, complicating the search for leads. Though some reported sightings surfaced in the months following his disappearance, every lead ultimately led to dead ends. The investigation revealed that Israel attended court on the day of his disappearance to address stolen firearm charges, and his calm demeanor during that visit raised additional questions. After his court appearance, Israel's cellphone went silent despite having paid his phone bill for the month. This sudden loss of contact heightened suspicions, and concerns escalated for his mother, who was expecting a new baby. The detectives entered DNA samples into the FBI's VICAP system to connect Israel’s case with ongoing investigations, but to no avail. Interviews revealed no signs that Israel feared for his safety. His girlfriend noted that he was last seen getting into a vehicle with an unknown person on May 13, a detail that troubled investigators. The absence of struggle or signs of premeditated disappearance raised concerns of foul play, as he was known to carry cash and travel frequently between Bristol and New York City. The Bristol Police sought public help in locating Israel, stating they had pursued every lead but needed assistance. Despite collaboration with various agencies, including the FBI, the investigation yielded few results. Those who knew Israel continue to hope for his return, though the odds of closure appear slim over time. Israel Rosado’s case remains an open investigation—a haunting true crime mystery, waiting for the truth to emerge.

    The disappearance of Samantha Sayers

On August 1st, 2018, Samantha Sayers disappeared while hiking Vespar Peak in the Cascade Mountains. Her disappearance triggered an extensive and prolonged search operation, one of the largest in Snohomish County's history. The search, spearheaded by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, mobilized an impressive array of resources. Over three weeks, eighty initial searchers expanded to include multiple county agencies (Everett, Seattle, Tacoma), state emergency responders, the U.S. Air Force, and a vast number of volunteers. Air support comprised helicopters SnoHawk 1 and King County's Guardian 1, utilizing infrared and thermal imaging, logging a combined 357 hours in the air. Ground teams covered 12 square miles of extremely rugged terrain, facing steep slopes, waterfalls, and dense undergrowth. Drone teams contributed 150 hours of aerial surveillance. At least 14 teams of trained search dogs were deployed, some camping on the mountain to maximize search time. Volunteers selflessly contributed over 7,904 hours. The sheer scale of the effort is evidenced by the combined total of 868 hours from official air, ground, and water units, exceeding the hours in an entire year. The murder of Kelly Nolan

It was June 23rd, 2007, a Friday night in the town of Whitewater, Wisconsin. Kelly Nolan, who was preparing to start the fall semester of her senior year at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, decided to spend the evening downtown with her friends. The night was filled with laughter and music, but as the clock struck 11:30 PM, Kelly's friends were ready to call it a night. However, Kelly was not quite ready to end the evening, so they parted ways, each heading home alone. In the early hours of Saturday morning, Kelly placed a quick call to her sister April. Whatever the conversation entailed, April has never revealed its contents. When Kelly failed to return home on June 25th, a wave of worry swept through her friends and family, leading to a missing person report being filed, and an investigation promptly initiated. One crucial lead emerged from the owner of Amy's Café, who informed investigators that one of his employees had started to walk Kelly home from the Lava Lounge on the night she disappeared. However, their journey was interrupted when they encountered a man who claimed to know Kelly. The employee left her with this man, and from that point on, the trail went cold. The search for Kelly Nolan ended when her body was discovered sixteen days later in a wooded area in the town of Dunn. Police did not disclose much information, except that they believed Kelly's killer crossed paths with her after she separated from her friends, and is a local. On January 9th, 2014, it was revealed that Kelly's death certificate had listed her cause of death as homicidal violence including blunt force trauma to her torso with fractures. It has been over two decades since Kelly Nolan's body was discovered, and police have never announced a suspect. Who killed Kelly Nolan?

While heading home after completing his route, he came across a car stopped on Locust and East Elliott streets, outside the United Parcel Service facility where a male and female were in a heated argument. Upon hearing the female scream, Bill attempted to intervene, but the car quickly sped away at 60 mph with the female hanging out of the passenger side. Unable to pursue, Bill alerted a truck dispatcher who contacted the police at 4:50 am. Subsequently, the police received a call from an unidentified individual using a fire-call box on Locust Street, reporting a woman being dragged by a car without providing further details or the victim's name. Officer Martin Burke responded to the call and attempted to follow the car heading south on Wethersfield Avenue without any lights on. Despite his efforts, the car escaped, leading Burke to discover a trail of blood, hair, and flesh that ultimately led him to the partially clothed body of the female on Jordan Lane in Wethersfield. The victim was later identified as Leah Ulbrich, a 24-year-old who had struggled with drug addiction since her teenage years. Initial investigations revealed that Leah had been involved in a physical altercation with the driver of the car before tragically being dragged to her death after getting her arm stuck in the seatbelt. Nearly 30 years have passed since Leah's murder, yet her killer remains unknown. The circumstances surrounding her death raise questions about the relationship between Leah and her assailant on that fateful day. Despite a potential eyewitness who called from the fire-call box, the identity of Leah's killer remains elusive. The mystery of who killed Leah Ulbrich continues to haunt those involved in the case.

    The murder of Betsy Aardsma

On November 28th, 1969, a somber cloud hung over Penn State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. The brutal murder of a young college student named Betsy Aardsma sent shockwaves through the campus and the community. Betsy, a diligent and ambitious student, had set out to the library that fateful afternoon. She and her roommate, Sharon Brandt, had planned to reunite later at the local movie theater for a night of relaxation and entertainment. Little did they know that their plans would be shattered by a chilling act of violence. As Betsy delved into her studies, she encountered her professor and obtained the reference she sought from the card catalog. She proceeded to the second floor of the library, selecting a book for an upcoming assignment. However, within a narrow time frame between 4:45 and 4:55 pm, tragedy struck. In the quiet confines of the library, Betsy was ruthlessly stabbed in the chest, the single blow causing fatal damage. The heartless act severed her pulmonary artery and struck her right ventricle, leaving her life slipping away. The library, once a sanctuary of knowledge, now bore witness to a horrifying crime scene. The news of Betsy's murder spread like wildfire, prompting an intensive investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police. Thirty-five determined troopers were assigned to the case, combing through the campus and pursuing every lead. The weight of justice demanded answers. A reward of $25,000 was offered, a significant sum at the time, to incentivize anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the killer. The community rallied, hoping that someone would come forward, shedding light on the darkness that had befallen them. As the investigation progressed, a few suspects emerged, casting shadows of suspicion. William Spencer and Larry Maurer were initially considered, but their involvement was swiftly dismissed through thorough scrutiny. However, Richard Haefner's name lingered, raising eyebrows among those still invested in the case. Yet, he was never officially declared a suspect. Despite witness accounts, tireless police work, and the passage of time, the case gradually turned cold. The Pennsylvania State Police refused to let go, their determination unwavering. They continued to seek any information that could potentially solve the mystery and bring long-awaited closure to Betsy's family. Over forty years slipped by, leaving an agonizing void in the hearts of those who loved Betsy. The perpetrator of this heinous crime had eluded justice, living a life of freedom they did not deserve. The Aardsma family was burdened with the knowledge that their loved one's murderer remained at large, a haunting presence in their lives. The story of Betsy Aardsma's tragic murder stands as a reminder that some mysteries remain unresolved, even with the passage of time. However, the determination to seek justice endures, as the Pennsylvania State Police remain committed to bringing closure to this cold case and ensuring that Betsy's memory is honored with the truth finally revealed.

The disappearance of Maureen Leianuhea Kelly

On June 9th, 2013, Maureen Leianuhea Kelly went on a camping trip with her friends in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Before the sun set, she informed her friends she was going to go on a spiritual request, which she had been expressing her desire to do for months. Maureen stripped down and left with only a fanny pack that had a knife, matches, and a compass. After failing to return by midnight, her friends reported her missing. The only clue police and searchers were able to find was footprints that matched Maureen's shape and size that lead to a road. Due to the terrain, underbrush, and lack of available resources Maureen had when she disappeared, investigators have announced they believe Maureen succumbed to hypothermia, while her family and friends believe she may not want to be found. The murder of Cortney Clayton

It was a Friday night in Stamford, Texas on September 2nd, 1988, and seven year old Cortney Clayton wanted to buy a soda from the convenience store less than a block away from her home. After begging her father, he gave her money and instructed her to wait for her brother, Ryan, outside of the store to cross the street. Cortney headed to the store at 8:42PM, and purchased a cup of soda at 8:47PM. Ryan left their home three minutes after her, and when he arrived outside the store at 8:50PM, he did not see Cortney waiting for him outside. After searching inside the store for her, the clerk told him that Cortney had paid for her soda and left. He then headed home, assuming Cortney had arrived back. Unfortunately, when Ryan returned home, Cortney was not there. After searching the nearby alley and neighborhood to no avail, Cortney's parents, Stan and Candace Clayton, reported her missing at 9:20PM. At the start of the search, investigators learned from witnesses that Cortney was seen at the convenience store and was last seen heading north at 8:48PM. Numerous sightings were called in, searches were conducted, and a witness who saw a man parked outside the convenience store was able to provide a detailed description that resulted in a composite sketch being distributed, but no progress was made. On March 26th, 1989, a hunter discovered a skull, which lead to the recovery of an arm, leg, and rib bones the next day. The remains were identified as Cortney Clayton. Almost four decades later, there has been no identification or arrest of Cortney Clayton's killer. Who killed her? The murder of Blake Chappell

October 15th, 2011, marked a memorable day for Blake Chappell as he attended the homecoming dance at East Coweta High School with his girlfriend, Rion. The couple enjoyed dinner together before joining their friends at the dance, where they danced and celebrated the night away. After the dance, Blake went to Rion's house and spent some quality time with her, watching a movie before eventually heading to his friend's place. Wanting to extend their time together, Blake made a daring decision to sneak back to Rion's house, entering through her bedroom window. However, their secret rendezvous was abruptly interrupted when Rion's grandmother discovered Blake's presence and alerted Rion's mother. Blake hastily left through the bedroom window and began the long walk back to his friend's house. Along the way, he sent multiple apologetic texts to Rion and her mother, expressing remorse for his actions. He even claimed to have encountered a police officer during his journey. Rion contacted his friend the next morning, only to learn that Blake had not returned. Alarmed, she immediately sensed that something was amiss. Blake was reported missing, and a search operation was launched, yielding several reported sightings. However, despite the efforts to locate him, Blake remained elusive. Two months later, on December 18th, 2011, a tragic discovery was made. A body was found facedown in a creek near the SummerGrove Golf Club. Although no identification was found at the scene, the body's distinctive lip piercing and Playboy bunny tattoo on the chest confirmed it to be Blake Chappell. The mystery surrounding Blake's death deepened. Who was responsible for his murder? Had the body been originally left at the creek or was it dumped there after his demise? These unanswered questions added to the sorrow and confusion surrounding Blake's untimely end, leaving his loved ones grappling with grief and seeking justice for his tragic fate. The disappearance of Brianna Maitland

March 19th, 2004. It’s 11:20 PM and 17 year old Brianna Maitland just finished her shift at work. Her coworkers invited her to stay and hangout, but she declined the invitation. She had an early shift at her second job the next morning and needed to go home and rest. Her coworkers watched her enter her car and drive off. None of them knew they would never see her again. Her car was found one mile down the road backed up against an abandoned farm house. Connections with drug dealers and other murders became the main focal points in the investigation of her disappearance. Searches were made throughout the Vermont area as her family pleaded with law enforcement to continue the search and take all tips that come in seriously. From being thrown in a river to being killed over a drug dispute with her dealer, and being held hostage in a drug house were only some of the endless tips that whirled around the disappearance of Brianna Maitland. Dead end after dead end has left both police and her family grasping for explanations. The trunk of her car was filled with her belongings, her history of drug use came to light, apparent doppelgangers being spotted around the tri state area, has all made the case of learning what really happened to the teenager all the more confusing. It has been almost two decades since Brianna Maitland disappeared that night, and investigators are no closer now to solving it than they were back in 2004. She came from a small community. Surely someone saw something. Does no one in the area know anything about what happened to her? Was she taken? Did she run away? Is she still alive? What happened to Brianna? Will we ever know? Or will it be a mystery forever?
