In addition, she spent three of the most spiritually challenging and rewarding years of her life in the heart of American Jewish life – New York City.Amy has a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from East Texas Baptist University and a Master of Arts in Communication and Master of Arts in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and was the first woman to complete a Ph.D. in Theology and Apologetics from Liberty University (May 2016). S8E17 The Intermediate State: Where Do We Go When We Die?
What happens between the time a person dies and the final resurrection? Theologically, this period of time is called the intermediate state. While the resurrection is final ultimate state for a person, the intermediate state is the penultimate essence of existence. But does the spirit live on after death? Dr. Brian Chilton argues that a strong case can be made from the biblical texts that the conscious soul continues to exist beyond the scope of physical death. He will evaluate various texts that speak of a conscious state of being after death, including Genesis 25:8; 35:18; Job 19:25-26; Psalm 16:10-11; Eccl. 3:21; 12:5-7; Matt. 17:3; 22:31-32; Lk. 16:22-24; 23:43, 46; Jn. 19:30; Acts 7:56, 59; 1 Cor. 5:5; 2 Cor. 5:1-3, 8; Phil. 1:21, 23-24; Heb. 12:22-23; Rev. 6:9-10; 19:20; 20:4.(c) 2025. Should families and friends discuss divisive issues with loved ones during the holidays? (Begin with TJ) How should we navigate controversial topics when someone brings them up? (Begin with Deanna) The political environment in this nation is hotter and more volatile than ever before. How can we minister to family members who might be from the other side of the political aisle without compromising our own convictions? (Begin with Tony) How might the "yes, and" method prove beneficial when dealing with family and friends from different perspectives than our own? (Note: The "yes...and" method is where you find a point of agreement with a person, even with a different worldview, and add your perspective onto the point of agreement. From there, a person does not feel attacked and is more prone to listen to what you have to say. I'll explain the method and then open it up to the group for discussion. If you have other methods to consider, please mention them.) As we get set to conclude the fall season of the podcast, let me open it up to the group. What are some things that you are thankful for? S8E1 Origin and Purpose of Angels
On this inaugural episode of Season 8, Dr. Brian Chilton discusses the origin and purpose of angels, as he begins a new series called angelology; that is, the study of angels. The following are the questions that are answered on this episode: 1) What are angels? 2) Are demons also considered angels? 3) Are angels eternal? 4) When were angelic beings created? 5) What purpose do angels serve? 6) If God is omnipotent, then why did He need to create angels in the first place?
