The Foundation of Wisdom | Proverbs 1:7 | Pastor Marty Beamer

The Foundation of Wisdom | Proverbs 1:7Where does true knowledge and truth come from? In a world saturated by the philosophy of individual autonomy and consumerism, we often fall into the trap of taking the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and we have become the arbiters of what we think is right. True wisdom does not begin with human introspection or personal autonomy—it begins with God.What is the Fear of the Lord?1. To Submit to His Rule: True fear goes beyond casual respect or polite reverence. When we look at the raw, staggering power of God, it should conjure an authentic, holy trembling. But unlike the wicked who tremble and run away, this kind of fear brings us to our knees in absolute submission, ready to bow rather than flee.2. To Covenant with Him Personally: True knowledge isn't about studying an abstract deity; it’s about being personally bound to the Lord in love. When you are in a covenant relationship with Him, obedience stops looking like a rigid checklist and starts flowing naturally out of an all-encompassing, deeply personal relationship.3. To Treasure Him Above All Else: A fool "despises" wisdom, treating God's guidance like a cheap commodity to be traded away—just like Esau carelessly selling his birthright for a single meal. In stark contrast, fearing the Lord means placing Him on a pedestal, recognizing that there is absolutely nothing in this life more valuable than Christ.Takeaways: 1. Do we submit to the plans of God through Jesus? 2. Do we covenant with God through Jesus in love? 3. Do we treasure God through Jesus? Submit to Him. Be true to the covenant with Him. And treasure Him above all things. This is the foundation of true knowledge and life. Promises of Wisdom | Proverbs 1:1–6 | Pastor Marty Beamer | 6/21/26

Purpose: To introduce the promises Proverbs give to those who seek wisdom. In a world filled with complex decisions and shifting cultural landscapes, how do we truly live faithfully? We often turn to slogans or pithy phrases to guide our choices, but applying biblical truth to the messiness of real life is rarely black-and-white. Where do we turn when we need more than just a motto? In this message delivered at Bethel Baptist Church, Pastor Marty Beamer begins our summer study in the book of Proverbs. He explores how this ancient wisdom literature serves as a guide for us to live as a "kingdom of priests." Rather than striving to obtain righteousness on our own, we discover that wisdom is a gift to be received—a tool for crafting a beautiful, God-honoring life. This sermon explores three vital promises offered through wisdom:Wisdom Promises Understanding: Developing the insight to see the truth behind the complexities of our daily circumstances and the lessons hidden within creation.Wisdom Promises Proper Action: Receiving the virtue necessary to implement righteousness, justice, and equity in any situation we face, allowing us to act with integrity.Wisdom Promises Growth: Maturing through "substitute experiences" that allow us to learn from the wise without having to ruin our lives by personally experiencing every destructive path.Ultimately, this message reminds us that true wisdom is not found in our own intellect or life experience, but in a teachable heart submitted to Jesus Christ—the true wisdom of God. Come to Him, listen to His Word, and find the skill to live faithfully.Scripture Reference: Proverbs 1:1–6Speaker: Pastor Marty BeamerDate: June 21, 2026Location: Bethel Baptist Church#ExpositoryPreaching #ProverbsStudy #WisdomLiterature #KingdomOfPriests #FaithfulLiving #BiblicalWisdom #MartyBeamer #BethelBaptistChurch #WalkingWithJesus #ChristianGrowth

The Mission of the Church Pt. 3 | Matthew 10:11–15 | Pastor Marty Beamer

What does faithfulness actually look like in gospel mission — and how do you keep going when results are nowhere to be seen? In this sermon from Matthew 10:11–15, Pastor Marty Beamer concludes a three-week series on the sending of the twelve with a clarifying call: God is in charge of the results; we are in charge of being faithful.Drawing on the story of Moses — whose early mission looked like failure yet was never out of God's hands — Pastor Marty shows how Jesus equips His disciples not with a success strategy, but with a posture of faithful perseverance. The church does not advance the gospel through performance metrics and headcounts, but through obedience, wisdom, and trust. As Jesus instructs His disciples on who to invest in and how to respond when rejected, He gives His people two final principles for joyful gospel advancement: use wisdom to discern where to invest, and press on in the mission regardless of how people respond. In this sermon, you'll discover:Why faithfulness — not fruitfulness — is the true measure of gospel missionWhat it means to be "worthy" and how receptivity shapes where we investWhy Jesus tells His disciples to shake the dust from their feet — and what that means for usHow the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah illuminates the weight of rejecting the gospelWhy the people's response to the gospel is never ultimately your responsibilityHow to stay on mission when ministry feels discouraging, fruitless, or unclearScripture References:Matthew 10:11–15 | Genesis 19 | Matthew 7:6 | Exodus 3–6This sermon is part of our series through the Gospel of Matthew at Bethel Baptist Church in Kansas City.Bethel Baptist Church exists for joyful gospel advancement — proclaiming Christ faithfully, loving people deeply, and making disciples for the glory of God.Join us weekly for expositional Bible preaching, gospel-centered teaching, and Christ-centered worship.Service Times: Sunday Worship — 10:30 AMSubscribe for weekly sermons and biblical teaching. The Mission of the Church Pt 2 | Matthew 10:5-15 | Pastor Marty Beamer

The Mission of the Church Pt 2 | Matthew 10:5-15 | Pastor Marty BeamerWhat keeps a Christian going when ministry feels exhausting, discouraging, or hopeless? In this sermon from Matthew 10:7–10, Pastor Marty Beamer explains how Jesus calls His church to continue the mission with joy — even in weariness, suffering, anxiety, and spiritual struggle. As Jesus sends out His disciples, He gives them a pattern for faithful ministry: proclaim the kingdom of God, care for people’s needs, and rely completely on God’s provision. This message explores how Christians today can stay faithful in gospel mission without losing heart. In a culture filled with burnout, fear, discouragement, and spiritual confusion, Jesus gives His people hope. The mission of the church is not sustained by human strength, personal success, or perfect circumstances. It is sustained by clinging to the commands of Christ and trusting the God who saves, keeps, and provides. In this sermon, you’ll discover: - Why joyful Christians are a powerful witness to the world - How Jesus combines gospel preaching with compassionate action - What it means to “act as Christ acts” - Why relying on God changes how we approach ministry - How Christians can persevere through suffering and spiritual exhaustion - Why the commands of Christ are meant to sustain us, not crush us

Speaker: Pastor Marty BeamerScripture: Matthew 9:35-38 https://LinkTr.ee/bbckcIn a world filled with weak leadership and broken systems, where do we find a leader who truly cares? In this sermon from Gospel of Matthew, we see that Jesus is not just a teacher or miracle worker—He is the fulfillment of God’s promise in Book of Ezekiel to come and shepherd His people Himself.Sheep are helpless, dependent, and unable to survive on their own—and Scripture says that’s exactly what we are. But the good news is this: God has not left His people without a Shepherd. This message walks through three powerful truths about Jesus:• He does the work of a Shepherd – teaching truth, proclaiming the kingdom, and healing the broken• He has the heart of a Shepherd – full of compassion for the harassed and helpless• He multiplies the laborers – calling His people to continue His missionJesus doesn’t just lead—He cares, He restores, and He sends. If you’ve ever been let down by leaders, this sermon points you to the only Shepherd who never will.Key Themes:Jesus the Great ShepherdBiblical leadershipCompassion and careThe mission of the ChurchThe harvest is plentifulChallenge:The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.Who will go?📍 Join us Sundays at 10:30 AMBethel Baptist Churchhttps://LinkTr.ee/bbckc#BethelBaptistKC #GospelOfMatthew #JesusTheGoodShepherd #BiblicalLeadership #ChristianSermon #FaithInAction #ChurchOnline #BibleTeaching #KansasCityChurch

Two Deaths, Pt 2 | Matthew 9:18-26 | Pastor Marty Beamer

How should Christians think about death? In Matthew 9:18–26, Jesus raises a ruler’s daughter from the dead and shows that His mission is not only to heal spiritually, but to make us completely whole — body and soul. The Bible teaches that salvation is not just forgiveness of sins, but the promise of resurrection and new life. When Jesus says, “The girl is not dead but sleeping,” He is changing the way His people understand death. Because of Christ’s death and resurrection, believers do not face death with hopelessness, but with confidence that the grave is not the end. This passage reminds us that the gospel gives us a different hope, a different understanding, and a different response to fear.In this sermon:• Why Jesus came to restore both body and soul• The meaning of uncleanness and death in the Bible• Why death feels like chaos and disorder• How the resurrection changes the way Christians grieve• Why Jesus calls death “sleep”• Who really has power over death• How fear reveals what we truly believe• Why the resurrection should change how we live every dayBecause Jesus rose from the dead, those who belong to Him will be raised also.📖 Sermon Title: She Is Not Dead but Sleeping | Matthew 9:18–26📅 Date: February 22, 2026Speaker: Pastor Marty Beamer📍 Location: Bethel Baptist Church at Oak Hill Day School Gymnasium📲 Find Us on Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/aEYmjRpZovL1PYo19Visit in personBethel Baptist Church meeting at Oak Hill Day School gymSunday service at 10:30 AMMore from Bethel Baptist Church https://bethelbaptistchurch.com#Matthew9 #ResurrectionHope #DoNotFear #JesusRaisesTheDead #ChristianSermon #ExpositoryPreaching #GospelOfMatthew #BethelBaptistChurch #HopeInChrist #RaisedToLife

Two Deaths | Matthew 9:18-26 | Pastor Marty Beamer

What do you do when life feels broken beyond repair? In Matthew 9:18–26, we see two desperate situations — a ruler whose daughter has died, and a woman who has been suffering for twelve years. Both stories point to the same truth: humanity cannot make itself whole, but Jesus has the authority to restore what sin has broken. This passage shows the reality of spiritual death, the depth of our separation from God, and the hope found in Christ alone. The woman’s condition made her unclean and cut off from the people of God, yet by faith she reached out to Jesus and was made whole. The message of this text is clear:We cannot fix ourselves, but Jesus can raise the dead, cleanse the unclean, and make sinners new.In this sermon:• The reality of spiritual death• Why sin separates us from God• How the woman’s story shows our condition before Christ• The authority of Jesus over death and uncleanness• Why faith means running to Christ, not hiding from Him• The danger of pride and the danger of despair• How Jesus makes broken people wholeNo matter how broken you feel, the promise of the gospel is this:“Take heart, daughter. Your faith has made you well.”📖 Sermon Title: From Death to Life | Matthew 9:18–26📅 Date: February 22, 2026Speaker: Pastor Marty Beamer📍 Location: Bethel Baptist Church at Oak Hill Day School Gymnasium📲 Find Us on Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/aEYmjRpZovL1PYo19Visit in personBethel Baptist Church meeting at Oak Hill Day School gymSunday service at 10:30 AMMore from Bethel Baptist Church https://bethelbaptistchurch.com#Matthew9 #FaithInChrist #JesusHeals #SpiritualDeath #ChristianSermon #ExpositoryPreaching #GospelOfMatthew #BethelBaptistChurch #JesusMakesYouWhole #GraceAlone

Commitment to the Kingdom pt. 2 | Matthew 9:14-17 | Pastor Marty Beamer

Have you ever wrestled with the question, Am I enough? In this sermon from Matthew 9:14 to 17, Jesus answers far more than a question about fasting. He addresses the deeper issue behind it all: the human tendency to measure our worth by what we produce, what we achieve, and what we do for God.The disciples of John believed commitment to God could be proven through visible religious effort. But Jesus shows that true commitment to God is not found in works righteousness, spiritual performance, or trying to patch up the old life. He came to make sinners new. This passage points us away from slavery to self effort and toward the freedom of the new covenant in Christ. In this sermon:• Why the real question was not about fasting• How we tie our identity to performance and usefulness• Why Jesus did not come to patch up the old life• What works righteousness looks like in everyday Christian living• Why despair and bitterness often reveal a transactional view of God• What it means to embrace the new covenant• Why Jesus is enough when we are notIf you have ever felt like you are failing, striving, or never doing enough, this passage is a powerful reminder that your hope is not in your performance but in Christ’s finished work.📖 Sermon Title: You Will Never Be Enough, But Jesus Is | Matthew 9:14 to 17📅 Date: February 22, 2026Speaker: Pastor Marty Beamer📍 Location: Bethel Baptist Church at Oak Hill Day School Gymnasium📲 Find Us on Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/aEYmjRpZovL1PYo19Visit in personBethel Baptist Church meeting at Oak Hill Day School gymSunday service at 10:30 AMMore from Bethel Baptist Church https://bethelbaptistchurch.com#Matthew9 #WorksRighteousness #GraceAlone #NewWineNewWineskins #ChristianSermon #ExpositoryPreaching #BethelBaptistChurch #GospelOfMatthew #JesusIsEnough #ChristianLiving

Commitment to the Kingdom | Matthew 9:14-17 | Pastor Marty Beamer

What does real commitment to God actually look like?In Matthew 9:14–17, the disciples of John ask Jesus why His disciples do not fast like they and the Pharisees do. Behind the question is a deeper accusation: Are you really as committed to God as we are?Jesus responds by showing that true righteousness is not about methods, traditions, or religious routines. True commitment to the kingdom of God puts principles before methods, refuses slavery to religious performance, and recognizes the new reality that has come in Christ. In this sermon: • Why the question about fasting was a loaded question • The danger of trusting religious methods instead of Christ • What it means to put principles before practices • How legalism can grow in sincere believers • Why traditions can become more important than the gospel • How the presence of Christ changes everything • The warning Jesus gives to religious peopleThe greatest danger is not open rebellion. Rebuke to the Religious | Matthew 9:9-13 | Pastor Marty Beamer

What are the signs of false assurance? In Matthew 9:9-13, Jesus responds to the Pharisees after calling Matthew the tax collector. Their reaction to Christ reveals a dangerous spiritual condition: religion without mercy, knowledge without love, and confidence without repentance.Jesus declares, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick… I desire mercy, and not sacrifice… For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”This passage shows that one of the clearest marks of true faith is how we respond to rebuke, conviction, and the call to show mercy to others. The Pharisees knew the law, practiced religion, and looked righteous on the outside, but they did not understand the heart of God.In this sermon: • How false assurance develops • Why mercy is central to true Christianity • The difference between Saul and David • Why Jesus rebuked the religious leaders • How believers can become Pharisees without realizing it • What it means to love sinners without compromising truth • How to live on mission in everyday lifeThe gospel is not only for obvious sinners. It is also for religious people who need to repent.Bethel Baptist Church Kansas City NorthMore from Bethel Baptist Church https://bethelbaptistchurch.com#Matthew9 #FalseAssurance #IWantMercyNotSacrifice #Pharisees #ChristianSermon #ExpositoryPreaching #BethelBaptistChurch #GospelOfMatthew #ChristianLiving #JesusCameForSinners

Follow Me | Matthew 9:8-13 | Pastor Marty Beamer

What does it really mean to follow Jesus? In this sermon from Matthew 9:9 to 13, we see the call of Matthew, a tax collector with a deeply broken past, and discover that following Jesus is not about proving ourselves through spiritual performance, superior knowledge, or outward comparison. It begins with Christ’s sovereign call, requires leaving behind old allegiances, leads to joyful fellowship, and often brings scrutiny from others. This passage reminds us that the gospel is for sinners, not the self righteous. Jesus does not wait for people to clean themselves up before calling them. He calls ordinary people, broken people, guilty people, and then transforms them as they follow Him.This message presses an important question on every heart: When Jesus says, “Follow me,” do you respond? In this sermon: • Following Jesus begins with His sovereign call • Your past does not disqualify you from grace • Real discipleship costs something • Following Christ leads to joy, not just duty • Faithful obedience will often be misunderstoodIf this sermon encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to hear that the call of Christ is still for sinners today.Bethel Baptist Church Kansas City NorthMore from Bethel Baptist Church:LinkTr.ee/bbckc#Matthew9 #FollowMe #Discipleship #JesusCallsSinners #GospelOfMatthew #ChristianSermon #BethelBaptistChurch #ExpositoryPreaching #ChristianLiving #JesusAndSinners

Authority to Forgive | Matthew 9:1-8 | Pastor Marty Beamer

What is our greatest problem… and what does Jesus actually have authority to fix?In this message from Matthew 9:1-8, we see the climax of a series showing the authority of Christ. Jesus has already shown authority over nature and over demons, but in this passage He makes an even greater claim. He declares that He has authority to forgive sins. When a paralytic is brought to Him, Jesus does something unexpected. Instead of healing the man first, He says, “Take heart, my son, your sins are forgiven.” This moment reveals the deepest truth of the gospel: our greatest need is not physical healing, changed circumstances, or relief from problems. Our greatest need is forgiveness and a heart restored to God.This sermon explores what true authority is, why forgiveness is the greatest miracle, and why the gospel demands a response from every person. It also reminds us that those who receive forgiveness from Christ must become people who freely forgive others.Main passage: Matthew 9:1 to 8In this sermon: The meaning of Christ’s authority Why forgiveness is our greatest need Faith and the forgiveness of sins Why Jesus’ identity proves His authority How miracles confirm the gospel Why the gospel demands a decision The call to receive forgiveness and to give itJoin us as we continue our verse by verse study through the Gospel of Matthew.Bethel Baptist ChurchKansas City NorthlandMore about Bethel Baptist Church: bethelbaptistchurch.com#BethelBaptistChurch #Matthew9 #AuthorityOfChrist #ForgivenessOfSins #GospelOfMatthew #JesusHasAuthority #FaithAlone #ExpositoryPreaching #ChristianLiving #BibleTeaching #ChurchOnline #KansasCityChurch #Forgiveness #GospelHope

Power Over Demons | Matthew 8:28-34 | Pastor Marty Beamer

In this message from Matthew 8:28 to 34, we see Jesus confront the powers of darkness and show that even demons are subject to His authority. This sermon helps us avoid two errors: denying the spiritual realm altogether, or becoming so fixated on it that we go beyond Scripture. The main point is clear: Christ has absolute power over every spiritual force. As Bethel Baptist Church gathered in an unusual setting due to weather and logistics, this message also reminds us why meeting together matters, why the church needs the steady preaching of God’s Word each week, and why we should remember and care for those who are regularly unable to gather with the body.In this sermon, we consider what the Bible teaches about demons, the authority of Jesus, and what spiritual warfare really looks like for ordinary Christians. Scripture points us not to sensationalism, but to simple, faithful obedience: obey, meditate on the Word, pray, and proclaim the gospel.Main passage: Matthew 8:28 to 34In this sermon: Jesus’ authority over demons The reality of the spiritual battle Why Christ is more unsettling to the world than darkness How Christians fight spiritual warfare biblically The call to obedience, prayer, meditation, and gospel proclamationJoin us as we continue our verse by verse study through the Gospel of Matthew.Bethel Baptist Church Kansas City NorthlandMore about Bethel Baptist Church: BethelBaptistChurch.com#BethelBaptistChurch #Matthew8 #SpiritualWarfare #JesusHasAuthority #AuthorityOfChrist #GospelOfMatthew #ExpositoryPreaching #ChristianLiving #BibleTeaching #KansasCityChurch #ChurchOnline #FaithAndTruth #ArmorOfGod #JesusIsLord

Why Are You Afraid | Matthew 8:23-27 | Pastor Marty Beamer

In Matthew 8:23 to 27, the disciples follow Jesus into the boat and immediately find themselves in a violent storm. As the waves crash in and panic rises, Jesus asks a piercing question: “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” This sermon helps us see that fear is not just an emotional struggle. It often reveals what is ruling our hearts. This message explores how fear grows when we lose our sense of control, when we put the wrong emphasis on our circumstances, and when we lose sight of what is true about Christ. The storm was real. The danger was real. But the disciples forgot who was in the boat with them.Jesus does not merely calm storms. He reveals that He is Lord over them.If fear, anxiety, uncertainty, or the pressures of life have been shaping your thoughts and decisions, this sermon is a call to lift your eyes to Christ, repent of fear where it has become controlling, and rest in the One who has authority over wind and sea.Watch, share, and connect with Bethel Baptist Church: BethelBaptistChurch.com#BethelBaptistChurch #Matthew8 #JesusCalmsTheStorm #FaithOverFear #LittleFaith #TrustInJesus #FearAndFaith #ChristianSermon #BiblePreaching #ExpositoryPreaching #JesusIsLord #HopeInChrist #ChurchSermon #KansasCityChurch #NorthlandKC #BethelBaptist #TurnYourEyesUponJesus
