It's hard to see when we look around our country and culture today, is God really involved, at work, caring about His people? Is He doing anything? Why yes, yes He is! Baptism is so highly  misunderstood, and no wonder. There is ritual baptism as identification and there is spirit baptism at salvation, and there are other baptisms for select groups in history. The thing is, not every baptism is for the believer; some were for people in the past and some are still in the wings, waiting for a time in the future. If you have the Holy Spirit of God, in other words you are a believer since all believers get the Spirit, then you are a temple where God dwells. Has the Spirit been given to only prophets and teachers? Or only to kings and priests? Or is the Holy Spirit given equally and permanently to all believers? Where do you go to meet God? Church? A temple? Synagogue? A confessional? None of these places are the place to meet God. If you are a Believer in Christ, then God dwells in you so to meet with Him you simply need to pray to Him where ever you are. Although no outward appearance or physical trait changes, at salvation you become a wholly new creature; you are now a child of God. This is what the Bible teaches the Holy Spirit does for us at salvation in the act of regeneration. But conservatives say there is only one race, the human race. He exists in all dimensions, all times, all places and is simultaneously outside all of these because He created all these. How do we know the Holy Spirit is God in truth and completeness? We hear people talk about the Spirit as a force, an influence, or a vague spiritual energy, and we get why that happens. The Greek word pneuma is a neuter noun, and some take that grammar to mean the Spirit must be impersonal. I'm so glad that the Founding Fathers of these United States were not Jehovah's Witnesses. Why? The Holy Spirit is with us to indwell and give gifts, not to overwhelm us with His presence or to overpower us with His will.
