Precept upon precept and line upon line. The Bible starts out with simple theology of God, Man, and Nature and then adds to it over time. As God revealed more and more our understanding grew. Never did His slow revealing delete what was given before, instead it built upon it. Covenant Theology, in name, sounds good and accurate; however they start from a faulty premise that the Covenant of Grace for Salvation is the only covenant. In the Old Testament this command carried with it faith, by placing the blood of the lamb on the door it showed God you believed His way and not your way. If God does not discriminate, then He is neither Loving nor Just. God must discriminate against those who rejected His Son and for those who did. Yes, God is judgemental. This is why we are admonished to put on the full armor of God, we are in a spiritual battle even though victory is assured. Holding the high ground, or better yet, the highest high ground possible, demonstrates your tactical and strategic superiority. And Christ has done this by ascending to heaven and being seated next to the Father.
