Boynton Beach Community Church (BBCC)
by Boynton Beach Community Church
At Boynton Beach Community Church (BBCC), our belief is that, through Jesus Christ, the local church is the hope of the world. Jesus promised to build His church (Matthew 16:18) and is fulfilling that mission today through His followers. The church is not a building but is a community of people who share common commitments to follow Jesus, to intentionally cultivate relationships, to meet the needs of others and to compassionately share the good news about Jesus. How Long, Lord? - Psalm 13 - bring God your 'How long?' receive His 'I have loved you.'
Psalm 13 sermon — ""How Long, Lord?"" A message about lament, waiting on God, and what to do when God feels silent or far away. If you've ever prayed and felt forgotten, asked God ""how long"" before something changes, or wondered whether He's still paying attention to your life, this one's for you. We walk through David's prayer in Psalm 13 — the four ""how long"" questions, the honest complaint, the cry for help, and the turn toward God's steadfast love (hesed). It's a sermon about grief, anxiety, unanswered prayer, the difference between lament and despair, and how the cross answers our deepest fear: that God has hidden His face for good. Preached on Communion Sunday over July 4 weekend, so there's also some honest talk about Christian hope, patriotism, and why our country can't be our savior. Good for anyone walking through a hard, drawn-out season and looking for a faith that doesn't make you fake being okay.If this helped you, subscribe so you don't miss what's next, and share it with somebody who needs it. When Fear Is Loud - Psalm 27 - Fear gets smaller when God becomes your one thing.
Psalm 27 sermon on fear, anxiety, and trusting God when you're afraid. If fear has been loud lately — fear about a diagnosis, your marriage, your kids, money, your job, or a future you can't control — this message walks through one of the most honest prayers in the Bible. David doesn't pretend the danger isn't real. He's got enemies, armies, false witnesses, the whole thing. But his courage doesn't come from the threat disappearing. It comes from God being closer than the thing he's scared of. We dig into what it actually looks like to seek God's face before you obey your fear, why "the LORD is my light and my salvation" changes how you see everything, and how waiting on God is courage — not doing nothing. If you've ever laid awake at 2am while your brain ran every worst-case scenario, this one's for you. This is a Christian sermon on overcoming fear and anxiety through Scripture, biblical hope, and the gospel — how Jesus was forsaken so you'd be received, and why the resurrection turns waiting into expectation. Subscribe for weekly Bible teaching and verse-by-verse preaching, and if you're local, come worship with us in person. We'd love to have you. Boynton Beach Community Church meets Sundays at 9:00am and 10:30am in Boynton Beach, FL. Find service info, directions, and more at https://bbcc.church. Run to the One Who Holds - Psalm 46 - for everybody carrying too much
You were never meant to be the one holding everything together. Psalm 46 was written by a family that watched their own world literally cave in, and somehow they became the people who taught everyone else how to sing.In this message, Pastor Samuel Sutter walks through Psalm 46, the ancient worship song behind Martin Luther's "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God," and shows why its most quoted line, "Be still and know that I am God," is not a call to relax but a call to surrender. If you are worn out from being the strong one, the fixer, the refuge everybody else runs to, this one is for you. We follow the story of the sons of Korah from collapse to worship, all the way to the cross, where Jesus walks straight into the thing we fear most and comes out the other side alive. You do not have to be unshakable. You are invited to run to the One who is.📖 Scripture in this message:Psalm 46 (main text)Numbers 16 and 26:11 (the sons of Korah)Exodus 14 (the Red Sea at daybreak)John 2:19 (Jesus as the true temple)Matthew 27:51 (the earth shakes at the cross)🙏 New here or looking for a church home in Boynton Beach? Fully Known, Still Loved - Psalm 139
What if being fully known by God is not something to fear, but the beginning of freedom? In this sermon from Psalm 139, we explore how God knows our thoughts, our hidden places, our stories, and our fears, and how Jesus makes it possible to be fully known without being condemned. Where to Find God's Glory
Most of us have felt it—the ache that there has to be more to life than the daily routine. We look for it in adventure, romance, career, retreats, nostalgia, new experiences. We chase the mountaintop. In Mark 9, Peter, James, and John actually get one: Jesus transfigured before their eyes, his clothes brighter than anything on earth, Moses and Elijah standing beside him, the voice of the Father thundering from the cloud. Peter wants to stay there forever. This sermon is about what Peter saw, why Jesus wouldn't let him camp there, and where you and I can go today to see the glory our hearts are really looking for—spoiler: it's closer than you think, and it's in a book most of us leave on a shelf. This Sunday is Communion Sunday at BBCC. Come to the table where we remember that the glory of God was revealed most fully not on the bright mountain, but on the dark hill of the cross. Join us at 9:00am or 10:30am in Boynton Beach, FL, with coffee and bagels before and after. What Messes People Up? Mark 7 - You can't raise a heart. Only Jesus can change one.
Why do some kids grow up godly and others grow up greedy—even when they're raised in the same home? Why do well-raised kids sometimes go off the rails, and poorly-raised kids sometimes turn out remarkable? In Mark 7, the Pharisees ask Jesus a ""good parent"" question about tradition and training, and Jesus gives a shocking answer: the problem isn't outside of us. It's inside. No tradition, no policy, no rulebook, no amount of sheltering can change a human heart. Only Jesus can. This sermon is about why the best parenting, teaching, and discipling in the world still isn't enough—and why that's actually the best news you could hear. This Sunday is Moving up week Sunday at BBCC, where we celebrate our students and the families, teachers, and leaders who have poured into them. How to Approach Jesus - Mark 7
There's an entire industry in America dedicated to influencing powerful people. Lobbyists know the right time, the right gift, the right approach. So how do you approach the most powerful person in the universe? In Mark 7, a Gentile woman with a demon-possessed daughter does everything ""wrong""—wrong ethnicity, wrong gender, wrong timing, wrong credentials. Jesus calls her a dog. And her response becomes one of the most remarkable moments in the entire Gospel. This sermon is about how she got it when the disciples didn't, and what her humble, hopeful, unshakable faith teaches us about coming to Jesus with empty hands and a desperate heart. It's also Pentecost Sunday at BBCC—the day we celebrate the gospel going out to the nations, which is exactly where this story is pointing. Join us at 9:00am or 10:30am in Boynton Beach, FL, with coffee and bagels before and after. Waiting Until It Hurts - Mark 5
How long should you wait for Jesus to win? Most of us treat Jesus like a struggling sports team—we stick around when things look hopeful, but we head for the parking lot when it seems the game is lost. This sermon walks through Mark 5, where Jairus has a dying daughter, Jesus stops to heal a bleeding woman instead, and by the time Jesus gets there, the girl is dead. It's a story about impossible delays, irrational timing, and a Savior who says ""Don't be afraid, just believe""—even when it looks like the game is over. If you've been praying for something that hasn't come, if you're tempted to give up on God's timing, this one's for you.Join us this Sunday at BBCC in Boynton Beach, FL—9:00am and 10:30am, with coffee and bagels before and after. A Mother's Trust in the Storm
Ask any mom—storms don't wait for good timing. The fever hits at 2am. The phone call comes during dinner. The hard season arrives without warning. And moms are usually the ones holding the boat steady while everyone else panics. This Mother's Day sermon walks through Mark 4, where the disciples are sinking and Jesus is asleep, and asks a question every mother has probably whispered at some point: don't you care? It's a message about the quiet, gutsy faith it takes to trust Jesus in the middle of the waves—and how good moms have been modeling that kind of trust all along. To every mom, grandmother, stepmom, foster mom, and woman who has mothered someone who needed it—we see you. Thank you for being a shelter in so many storms. This Sunday at BBCC: If you're nearby, come as you are. We meet Sundays at 9:00am and 10:30am in Boynton Beach, FL—coffee and bagels before and after. The End of Religion: Mark 2-3 - Pastor Sam Sutter
#Mark2 #EndOfReligion #Communion"Most people think rules are the key to a good relationship with God. Keep the list, check the boxes, stay on the right side of the line. But in Mark 2 and 3, Jesus walks into a cornfield, heals a man's hand on the Sabbath, and does something the religious leaders couldn't forgive: he claims to be the rest they'd been working so hard to earn. This sermon looks at why Pharisees and Herodians—two groups who hated each other—suddenly agreed Jesus had to go, and what it means that the gospel is offensive to both the moralist and the progressive. It's not "good people in, bad people out." It's "humble people in, proud people out." And that changes everything. This Sunday is a big one at BBCC. We're celebrating communion together and welcoming new brothers and sisters through the waters of baptism. If you've been thinking about what it means to rest in what Jesus has finished, this is a Sunday you don't want to miss. A veteran's story of coming to faith after 40 years of atheism—and what happens when life doesn't line up with the promises you thought you understood. This message walks through David's prayer, the cross, and the resurrection to answer a question a lot of us quietly carry: if God is good, why does life still feel so layered? Misplaced Ambition Mark 10:35-45 - John Leavitt
We all have ambitions — but who are they really for? In Mark 10:35-45, James and John make a bold play for power in Jesus' kingdom. His answer flips everything upside down. Elder John Leavitt unpacks what Jesus says about ambition, the cost of following Him, and why service — not status — is the true measure of greatness. Deeper Than You Asked
"Imagine you go to the doctor with a throbbing migraine. You just want the headache fixed. But the doctor runs some tests and says: your head isn't the problem. It's something deeper — something you never would have guessed. The doctor is either brilliant or foolish. Either way, they've told you something about yourself that you didn't know. That's exactly what happens in Mark 2. A paralyzed man is lowered through a roof by four friends, right at Jesus' feet. He wants one thing: to walk again. Every prayer, every hope, every longing he's ever had is tied to that request. And Jesus — with the full power to heal him on the spot — looks at him and says, ""Son, your sins are forgiven."" Not yet ""get up and walk."" First, ""you have a bigger problem than your legs.""In this message from Mark 2:1–12, we look at what Jesus reveals about us and about Himself in one of the most well-known stories in the Gospels. About us: our biggest problem is rarely what we think it is. About Him: the God who came with the authority to judge chose instead to forgive — and it would cost Him His life. They wanted a wish-granter. Jesus was offering something far deeper and far more dangerous: a Savior. If you've ever wondered why Jesus hasn't given you what you've been asking for — it might be because He's trying to give you something better.New here? Now the Story Begins: Easter faith is fearfully following - Mark 16
What if the Easter story doesn't end the way you think it does?In the Gospel of Mark — the earliest written account of Jesus' life — the resurrection narrative ends with three women running from an empty tomb in fear. No joyful reunion. No doubting Thomas. No beach breakfast with Peter. Just trembling, bewilderment, and silence. Most scholars believe Mark ended his Gospel right there — on purpose. It's such a jarring cliffhanger that Christians have been trying to fix it for two thousand years. But what if that ending is exactly what we need? What if Mark left a blank page at the end of the story because we're supposed to fill it ourselves? In this Easter message from Mark 16:1–8, we unpack why the most ""unfinished"" version of the resurrection might be the most relevant one for anyone sitting in church today still carrying fear, doubt, or unanswered questions. Easter faith isn't the absence of those things. Easter faith is fearfully following — obeying a risen Jesus who has already gone ahead of you into whatever comes next. The women trembled and ran. Peter denied and wept. And then they turned the world upside down. Not happily ever after — but something far better.New here? King with a Twist - When Following the King Means Going to a Cross
Imagine a friend breaks something valuable in your home. Someone has to pay. Either they cover the cost — or you absorb it. That's not just an economic principle. It's how forgiveness works at every level. And it's why God said: ""The only way I can forgive the sins of the human race is to suffer. Either you pay — or I will."In this Palm Sunday message from Mark 8:27–9:1, Peter calls Jesus the Messiah and then immediately tries to talk Him out of the cross. Jesus fires back with one of the harshest rebukes in the New Testament — and then redefines what it means to follow a King who came to die. We look at why suffering was the plan and not the backup plan, what Jesus means when He says ""lose your life to save it,"" and why every identity you've built on performance — your career, your family, your moral record — will never be enough to tell you who you are. He's not the king Peter wanted. When God Rips a Hole Through Heaven
"Most stories build to the big reveal. Mark's Gospel gives it away in the first sentence: Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. That's not lazy storytelling — it's intentional. Because Mark doesn't want you guessing who Jesus is. He wants you wrestling with what you're going to do about it.In this message from Mark 1:1–12, we slow down and look at the details most of us skip over — the Jordan River, the camel-hair outfit, the mashup of Old Testament promises, and a baptism scene where heaven is literally torn open and the full Trinity is on display. Every detail is loaded. Every image would have sent a first-century Jewish audience out of their seats. The question is whether it moves us the same way — or whether we've gotten so used to the story that we've fallen back asleep. If you've ever felt like your faith has gone numb, like you know all the right answers but something's missing — Mark 1 is an alarm clock. God ripped a hole through heaven to get to you. This message asks the uncomfortable question: are you awake?New here? We'd love to meet you in person on a Sunday morning at 9:00am or 10:30am. What's the Best Thing for Kids? | Mark 9-10
What's the best thing for kids? Jesus answers that directly in Mark 9 and Mark 10 — and it's not what the disciples expected. In this sermon from our Mark My Words series, we walk through three truths every parent, grandparent, and kids ministry volunteer needs to hear: welcoming a child means welcoming Jesus himself, causing a child to stumble puts you in serious danger, and the kingdom of God belongs to those who come like little ones. Reset: What Jesus Said Before He Said Anything Else
"What if the first thing Jesus ever said publicly wasn't ""I love you"" — but ""turn around""?In Mark 1:15, Jesus walks into Galilee right after John the Baptist is arrested and delivers the most audacious opening line in history: ""The time has come. The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news."" In this first message of our new series ""Mark My Words,"" we break down why the order of that sentence changes everything, what the Greek word for repentance actually means, and why some of us have been building our faith on a clock that's been wrong for years.Whether you've never turned toward Jesus or you turned once and slowly drifted — this one's for you.New here? Why do relationships feel so exhausting? Idolatry, broken cisterns, and what Jeremiah 2:13 reveals about the real reason your community feels heavy. In this sermon from our Community Series at Boynton Beach Community Church, we dig into what happens when you ask people to carry your security, identity, and approval — a role that was never theirs to fill. Why Forgiven People Forgive — and Why It Changes Everything | Colossians 3:12-13
We all know what it's like to carry a grudge. Someone hurts you, the wall goes up, and you call it "protecting your peace." But what if the thing you're calling wisdom is actually the thing keeping you lonely? In this message from Colossians 3:12-13, we look at what the apostle Paul says about forgiveness inside real community — not the polished, conflict-free kind, but the messy, honest, stay-in-the-room kind. The kind where wounds are expected, debts get canceled, and truth is wrapped in love. If you've been holding onto a name — the person you've already written off in your heart — this one might be for you. Three things we walk through: Why conflict in community isn't a sign something's broken What it actually costs to cancel someone's debt — and why Jesus paid yours first How to hold truth and grace in the same handNew here? Guilt Stole Your Joy? - How Confession Secures Your Heart
What if the frustration, anger, insecurity, and lack of confidence you're experiencing aren't separate problems—but symptoms of one deeper issue: unresolved guilt? In this life-changing message, we discover how guilt operates like a spiritual debt that weighs us down and damages our relationships with God and others. Many of us have reduced confession to a quick "my bad" that enables destructive patterns rather than breaking them. But biblical confession is radically different—it's not just about words, it's about change. Key Scripture: 1 John 1:9, Matthew 5:23-24, Numbers 5:6-7, Luke 19:8In This Message:• Why guilt affects everything from your confidence to your relationships• The difference between fake confession and biblical confession• Why saying "I'm sorry" to God isn't enough when you've wronged someone else• How authentic confession breaks the cycle of guilt and restores joy• Practical steps to make things right with those you've wrongedThis is Part 2 of our "Who Stole Your Joy?" series. Anger Stole Your Joy? - How Forgiveness Releases Your Heart
Behind every outburst, every cold shoulder, every bitter thought is a simple reality: you didn't get what you were convinced you deserved. Someone owes you. And that unpaid debt is destroying your joy, your relationships, and your spiritual health. In this powerful message, we discover that anger—like guilt—is fundamentally about debt. But unlike guilt (where "I owe"), anger says "I am owed." The tragedy is that many of us spend our lives waiting for debts to be paid that cannot be paid, transforming from people who are angry into angry people.Through Paul's radical command in Ephesians 4:31-32, we learn that forgiveness isn't just a feeling—it's a decisive action that mirrors how God forgave us in Christ. This message provides a practical, four-step process for forgiving those who have wronged you and experiencing the freedom that comes from canceling debts that can never be repaid.Key Scripture: Ephesians 4:31-32, Matthew 18In This Message:• Why anger is really about unpaid debts• How victims become prisoners of their own bitterness• Why forgiveness is a decision, not a feeling• A practical 4-step process for forgiving anyone• How to handle recurring memories of past hurts• The connection between God's forgiveness of you and your forgiveness of othersThis is Part 3 of our "Who Stole Your Joy?" series. Who Stole Your Joy? - The Heart Heist
What if the joy, peace, and gratitude you were designed to display have been stolen—not from the outside, but from within? In this powerful message, we explore Jesus's revolutionary teaching in Matthew 15 about the real source of our struggles. It's not about behavior management or following more rules—it's about surrendering our hearts to the only One who can restore what's been taken.Using the imagery of a museum heist, we examine how we can look secure on the outside while the treasure inside—the fruit of the Spirit—has been stolen. Jesus exposes the Pharisees' obsession with external religion while their hearts were far from God, and He challenges us to stop building our own security systems and instead allow Him to do the deep work of heart transformation.Key Scripture: Matthew 15:1-20, John 10:10, Galatians 5:22-23In This Message:• Why behavior modification never leads to lasting change• The symptoms that reveal your joy has been stolen• How to identify the real heart issues behind your struggles• The difference between religious performance and heart surrenderThis is Part 1 of our "Who Stole Your Joy?" series. Why Knowing God Is Better Than Knowing What to Do | Ruth 4:1-12
Are you paralyzed by options? Drowning in choices but doing nothing? You're not alone. So many of us don't act—we don't obey God, we don't step into our callings—because we're overwhelmed by endless options. We call it "waiting on God" when really we're just stuck. We're not lacking direction. We're drowning in it.In this message from Ruth 4:1-12, we discover a life-changing truth: Knowing God is better than knowing what to do.In this sermon, you'll discover:• Why "praying about it" is sometimes just Christian-speak for "I'm scared"• How Boaz navigated an impossible decision with courage and faith• The hidden theme in Ruth that changes everything about suffering and uncertainty• Why you don't need more information—you need more of God• Practical steps to stop overthinking and start moving forward in faith• How to trust God with your next step when you can't see the whole staircaseThe problem isn't that you don't know what to do. The problem is you want to know the outcome before you obey. You want God to show you the entire map before you take the first step. You want Him to guarantee success before you risk anything. But that's not how faith works.Faith doesn't wait for perfect clarity. Faith moves forward even when—especially when—you're uncertain.Join us as we explore how God was working behind the scenes in Ruth's story, weaving together "coincidences" and human choices to bring about redemption. And discover how the same God is working in your story today—even when you can't see it.This message is for you if:✓ You're stuck between endless options and can't decide what to do✓ You're waiting for "perfect clarity" before you move✓ You feel disconnected because you haven't taken the first step✓ You're terrified of making the wrong choice✓ You're spiritualizing your fear instead of trusting God✓ You need encouragement to do the next right thing in front of youKey Takeaway: You don't need to see how it all works out. You just need to know the One who's working it out.Stop waiting for perfect clarity. Stop collecting more opinions. Stop spiritualizing your fear. Just do the next right thing in front of you—and trust that God is working behind the scenes.
