at sea (the dolphin song) delta 3

i wrote this song live in a private ceremony last night. it was stuck in my head afterward, so i produced a studio version. simple as that. dolphins are cool.

    safe to say

i wrote this song tonight in the bath tub, recorded it on my phone as a demo and then figured i could finish the whole thing in one shot. it's written about a recent realization i've had about letting go of things and people who are no longer aligned with me. it's also a lot about my reflections of being a people pleaser and how when i finally started looking after myself and other people got mad or didn't understand, it was okay. i was okay. i figured i'd rather have them mad at me than me mad at me. y'know?

    so long

i wrote this song after watching and recording family VHS tapes to use as cinematic field recordings in my music. i started reflecting on the relationship between my siblings and i. they are both estranged from me, and i'm uncertain what happened to cause that... i've grown to accept it and understand and send love and peace to them every day. this song is my sonic reflection of what i'm sure is more common than i'd like to imagine; the coming to terms with parting ways with someone you loved. it's also done in a binaural brainwave entrainment, theta 4hz for focus. wear headphones for the full effect.

    a life remembered forward

This track is a "plant-powered" sonic reflection of one's past, present and future and the transition into death that many of us have a hard time navigating. I utilized multiples tempos, binaural pure tones and my own 3D field recordings throughout to create a full soundscape, taking the listener from Alpha, to Theta before finally landing in Delta, as well as biofeedback from a fig plant and a field mushroom. Turns out they're great guitarists and piano players... This song was created for a client of mine who provided the biofeedback from the plants in memory of her grandparents and the mark they left on her. Please feel free to leave comments on the file in the link or here in discussion. Thank you for your input.

    alone (through the walls)

I wrote this song while an all-nighter house party was going on upstairs. I recorded the party with my 3D microphone from my basement suite. At first, I was irritated because I felt left out, and then because it reminded me of a crazy house party I was forced to host in 2010. it reminded me of the feeling that I often had of having to be the coolest guy in the room who everyone liked. I feared being disliked all my life. it specifically reminded me of a crazy house party I felt like I was forced to host in 2010. My buddy invited strippers and drug dealers and the cops showed up and my dog ran away and we had to put out a search party and strangers were making out in my closet (that's going to be a song) and we had to kick the strippers and drug dealers out... It was stupid and wild and crazy and it made me contemplate my life decisions up til that point. Anyway, this song was written, mixed and produced in it's entirety a few nights ago amidst an absolute bender of chaos going on upstairs and thus includes some of Calgary's finest broadcast and music industry professionals in the background if you listen close. This one goes out to Kelley, sending love and prayers, my man.
