Alcohol and substance abuse are detrimental to a marriage. The amount of stress, familial distress, anger, resentment, dysfunctional communication, financial strain, interruption of healthy family dynamics, and negative mental health affects that alcoholism brings to a marriage is hard to quantify. However, statistics point to alcohol abuse leading to an increase in divorce rates by at least 20%. With estimates showing that between 10% to up to 45% of marriages in the United States are impacted by alcoholism, this is a problem that the Church must address. In addition to the destructiveness of dealing with an addiction in marriage, if co-dependence is present, the situation is further complicated. In the world today, there is an opportunity around every corner to become offended. Our culture's climate is ripe with reasons to be disillusioned and disappointed every single day. The Holy Spirit has gifted some people specifically for the building up and training of the Body of Christ. At salvation the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within every believer. Ministry Gifts are described as "ministries or abilities that the Holy Spirit gives to Christians for the edification of the Church." (Lexham Bible Dictionary). These gifts are how we "ad-minister" God's love, grace, healing, and Truth to others. Everyone wants to know what their purpose is. There are a plethora of questionnaires and quizzes available to help people hone in on their inner talents and gifts, thus guiding them to how they can find fulfillment in contributing to the greater good. However, like most of all the big questions in life, the answer is found in the God's Word. At salvation, The Lord has given each of us spiritual gifts through the indwelling Holy Spirit that are used to serve distinct, specific purposes within the Body of Christ, all of which function together as a whole.  It is important that we all discover what our spiritual gift(s) is/are so that we can  in the way we were created, minister to others, and find personal fulfillment, all of which glorifies God. Spiritual gifts are found in various passages of scripture as lists, most of which are not identical, but have some overlap. These lists are found in Romans, chapter 12, 1 Corinthians 12-14, and Ephesians 4. These lists have been categorized according to their corresponding Greek translation for better understanding.
