As we conclude this week with John 11, we look at the end of the story and Jesus’ command, “Untie him and let him go.” Just as with Lazarus, Jesus looks at the enemy of death, who has us bound, and commands on our behalf that death unbind us and let us go.

Today we consider how all throughout the telling of the raising of Lazarus, Jesus repeatedly underscores his intention: belief. Not just any belief, but faith in HIM, the only Son of God, sent by the Father to redeem the world.

Guest host Elizabeth Rzepka is with us again as we continue looking at John 11. Today we continue to consider why all God does, even painful waiting, is for our good and his glory.

Guest host Elizabeth Rzepka is back to continue looking at John 11 and the raising of Lazarus. Jesus curiously waits to go to his ill friend until well after he has died. In salvation history, God also waits after the fall of man to come in the flesh to save us, dead in our sins.

This week, guest host Elizabeth Rzepka dives into the story of the raising of Lazarus in John 11, looking at this miracle as an archetype for salvation history. In today’s episode, we look at Lazarus as the one Jesus loves. Just like Lazarus, we too are the one Jesus loves!

Today we fix our eyes on Jesus, the Son of Man, who stands at the center of the cosmos and of human history. Even in the worst of circumstances and amongst other gods and idols, Jesus is superior and holds the world in his hands.

In seeing Jesus, John sees all of these different elements of Jesus presented that show that He is trustworthy and true and we reflect on those in our own lives.

As John is suffering, in the middle of it all is him just beholding Jesus. Today we discuss how we behold Jesus, how we look at him in the midst of our circumstances.

As we continue in Revelation, we dive into what it means that Jesus has glory and dominion over all. We reflect on how He has dominion in our lives and how we can yield more and more to Him.

This week we begin the book of Revelation and discuss John’s vision of Jesus as he is exiled on the island of Patmos. Amidst his suffering, John sees Jesus and describes Him as the faithful witness to the Father.

As we wrap up our week in 1 Corinthians 3, we reflect on how we are each living temples of the Holy Spirit and we ask the Lord to help us believe and live in this truth.

As we are tested in the fire, the Word of God tells us that if our works survive we will be given a reward in Heaven. Today we discuss eternal rewards and how all merit depends on the grace and mercy of God.

With Jesus as our foundation, we hear from Paul that as we build upon our foundation with good works, on the day of judgement those works will be tested by fire. Today we discuss how to withstand the testing.

Continuing in 1 Corinthians 3, Paul asks the Corinthians to consider what their foundation is built upon. As he discusses doing the works of the Lord, he preaches that only Jesus is a secure and lasting foundation.

This week we dive into 1 Corinthians 3 where Paul writes to the Church in Corinth about to whom they belong. As he brings unity to the community, he encourages the believers to commit to the work that God has given them to do with excellence.

As we close out this week, we hear the explicit Gospel message found in Ephesians 2. That although we were separated from Christ with no way back, Jesus redeems us because He is rich in mercy.

Back in the studio, we continue to see what each and every human heart was like without the Gospel and without the saving grace found in Jesus Christ. As Paul paints this picture for us, we grow in appreciation for how Christ has saved us.

Wrapping up our time with Fr. Josh Fons, we spend today in the beginning of Ephesians 2, discussing Paul’s description of the human condition without Christ.

This week we hear an interview with Fr. Josh Fons from the Good News Cruise. As we dive into Ephesians 2, we begin by hearing Fr. Josh’s story of how he came to know Jesus.

As we close out Colossians 1, Paul transitions into a proclamation of the Gospel, showing us how jesus has reconciled us with the Father.

Throughout Colossians 1, Paul glorifies Jesus through expounding on His identity. Today we discuss the reality that Jesus is first above all and before all.

As we continue through Colossians, we hear the truth that everything was made in Him and for Him. Today we talk about living in Him, but also see what it means to be made for Him.

In addition to being the revelation of the Father, we see how Jesus is the first born of a new race of people. Today we discuss how Jesus’ saving work begins a new race of people with a new nature.

This week we dive into Colossians 1 and discuss who Jesus is. Today we see how Jesus is the One who reveals God the Father to us through His incarnation.

Today we celebrate the most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The readings reveal to us truly what is at the heart of God: deep love and intimacy for each and every one of us.

As we celebrate the feast of St. Barnabas, we see ways that he was an encourager to those around him. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us grow in a spirit of encouragement.

Continuing with the prophet Elijah, we read the story of Elijah challenging the prophets of Baal. God provides for Elijha through the sending of fire upon the altar. Again we are challenged to ask how God is providing for us.

The first reading today about the prophet Elijah shows us a scenario in which the Lord needs to be provider. We ask ourselves – are we letting the Lord provide for us in our lives?

This week we spend time in the daily readings from the Mass. In the Gospel today, Jesus teaches on who are blessed in the Kingdom of Heaven. We discuss that the beatitudes are a vision of who God wants to make us into!

Paul’s teaching on the cross and wisdom culminates with the proclamation that Jesus is both the wisdom and the power of God. In Him is found all truth and wisdom, but also the complete and total source of power.

Continuing in our discussion about the foolishness of the cross, we see Paul lift up the way of God in contrast to the wisdom of the world. We ask the Holy Spirit to truly give us eyes to see the wisdom of God and to value it over worldly things.

The wisdom of the world is centered on power, money, and success. Today we discuss how challenging it is not to get caught up in the wisdom of the world but to see things God’s way.

As we continue in 1 Corinthians, we discuss how the Kingdom of god is so different from worldly kingdoms. We see how the cross seems so foolish to those who do not have the spiritual vision of the Kingdom.

This week we dive into 1 Corinthians and discuss proclamation regarding the true power of the cross. For the Christian, power lays in Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross.

As we wrap up our week on Ephesians 1, we take all that we have discussed and emphasize the need to truly see Him and look to Him as the source of our hope, joy, and salvation.

After wrapping up our interview from the Good News Cruise, we read again the end of Ephesians 1. We specifically discuss how Paul has heard of the faith of the ephesians all the way in prison and we ask ourselves what people would hear about the way we treat others.

On our final day of our conversation with Bishop McClory, we read the last half of Ephesians 1. We discuss our destiny in Christ and how we live that out each day.

As we continue with the interview with Bishop McClory, he chats with us about the importance of sharing God’s Word together as a community and how that helps us engage more deeply in the Mass.

Today we dive into a set of interviews with Bishop Bob McClory from the Diocese of Gary, Indiana that were recorded on the Good News Cruise. He discusses with us the role of scripture in his own life and conversion.

Today we receive the truth that perfect love casts out fear. Only the Love of God is perfect, and as we receive his love, we are transformed and freed from our fear because we are secure in His perfect love.

As we get to the high point of this passage, we see John expressing the true reality of God’s nature. God doesn’t love; He is love itself. We grapple with this reality and ask the spirit to help us see it.

John tells us in today’s reading that if we confess Jesus, He abides with us and in us. As we read this word, we dive into how we confess Christ not only in our words but in our actions.

As we continue in 1 John, we hear that we have been given the gift of the Spirit of God. We reflect on how the Holy Spirit reveals God’s love to us.

This week we dive into John’s teaching on being beloved by God. Today we discuss the reality that Christ lives in each of us and if He is in us, we are in Him.

As we wrap up this week, we focus on the virtues of steadfastness and encourage. We discuss what it means to encourage one another in standing firm in the faith.

Part of willing the good of the other is building others up in love. Paul encourages us to express our commitment and love for Jesus through building up the body of Christ with Chairty.

Today we dive into the reality of what it means to will the good of your neighbor. We need the grace of Christ to show us what it truly means to love another for their good and we ask for the strength to do this.

As we continue in Romans 15, we talk about how we practical endure with each other, both with our weaknesses and our failures, but also with our burdens. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us endure with one another.

This week we dive into Romans 15, where we read specifically what it means to offer our lives as a sacrifice in the context of our Christian relationships. We begin by discussing what it means to bear one another’s weakness.
