FUTURE HUMAN - 11 THE SOURCE OF HAPPINESS - Ps James Murray

08.05.2016 - 10 AM ---------------------------- Text - Phillipians 3:1-11 (NLT) 1) Don’t put your confidence in the wrong things. Illustration - Jim Carrey Golden Globes. https://youtu.be/uevbPqes7Wo 2.) Don’t waste your time on what doesn’t matter 3.) Don’t just know Christ, but also experience him. RELIGION A - is the label of ‘Christian'. It's the practice of attending church without genuine faith in the living Lord. RELIGION B - is a life-transforming, destiny-changing experience. It's a definite commitment to the crucified and risen Savior, which establishes an ongoing personal relationship between a forgiven sinner and a gracious God

FUTURE HUMAN - 10 HEALING OF WOUNDED SAINTS - Ps James Murray

01.05.2016 - 10 AM -------------------------------- Philipians 2:19-30 1.) Inflamed (sensitive) 2.) Stress and strain on emotional and physical state 3.) Effects the person whole healthcare system Proverbs 18:14 Ephesians 4:31-32 1.) Choose to put away your Hurt 2.) Choose to Forgive as God forgave us. 3.) Allow Jesus to heal "Some have a wounded spirit through the cruelty of men, the unkindness of children, the ingratitude of those whom they have helped, and for whom they have had such affection that they would almost have been willing to sacrifice their own lives. It is a terrible wounding when he who should have been your friend becomes your foe, and when, like your Lord, you also have your Judas Iscariot. It is not easy to bear misrepresentation and falsehood, to have your purest motives misjudged, and to be thought to be only seeking something for yourself when you have a pure desire for the good of others. This is a very painful kind of wounded spirit, but it must not be allowed to be carried too far...let me recommend as a choice remedy for a wounded spirit; an enlarged view of the love of God." - Charles Spurgeon

FUTURE HUMAN - 09 LIFE AFTER SUNDAY, James Murray

17.04.2016 - 10 AM --------------------- Philippians 2:12-18 1. Let salvation do its work (let it work everyday of your not just Sunday) "In a culture that loves speed and efficiency, it is not difficult to get a person interested in the message of the gospel; it is terrifically difficult to sustain the interest. To follow Christ faithfully, requires a long obedience in the same direction.” - Eugene Peterson 2. Do everything different (without grumbling or disputing) 3. Hold fast to the word of God (the how to) Without the gospel we hate ourselves instead of our sin. Without the gospel we’re motivated through all sorts of awful fear and pride to change and it doesn’t really change our hearts; it just restrains our hearts.” ― Timothy Keller

  17. 44

FUTURE HUMAN - 08 THE FREEDOM OF SELF-FORGETFULNESS, Ps James Murray

10.04.2016 - 10 AM -------------------------------- Philippians 2,5-11 Self forgetfulness... ... frees me to let God be God and not try and take his job ... frees me to empty myself and serve others ... frees me to think of myself less Quote: "If we were to meet a truly humble person, we would never come away from meeting them thinking they were humble. They would not be always telling us they were a nobody (because a person who keeps saying they are a nobody is actually a self-obsessed person). The thing we would remember from meeting a truly gospel-humble person is how much they seemed to be totally interested in us. Because the essence of gospel-humility is not thinking more of myself or thinking less of myself, it is thinking of myself less." - C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity)

FUTURE HUMAN - 07 A UNITED COMMUNITY, Stephen Bax

04.04.2016 - 10 AM -------------------------------- Phllippians 2:1-4 NIV "The Christian gospel is that I am so flawed that Jesus had to die for me, yet I am so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to die for me. This leads to deep humility and deep confidence at the same time. It undermines both swaggering and snivelling." Timothy Keller Four types of unity: 1. Have the same mind 2. Have the same love 3. Be joined in spirit 4. Be of one mind

LOVE WON - Easter Sunday, Ps James Murray

28.03.2015 - 10 AM ------------------------------- John 20:1-29 (ESV) 1.) Love won over hatred 2.) Love won over guilt & shame 3.) Love won over death & purposelessness CONCLUSION: By walking out of the tomb on Easter, Jesus declared something life-changing, something subversive and something that cannot be overcome by commercialism. It is a message that refuses to be tamed. The Resurrection says not only that Christ has the power of life over death, but something more subversive. The Resurrection says, “Listen.” - James Martin. The Wall Street Journal. WHO ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

    PERFECT LOVE, Ps James Murray

25.03.2016 - 10 AM --------------------------------- 1. John 4:9-18 (NLT) ‘PERFECT' = Entirely without any flaws, defects or shortcomings. 1.) Our love is based on the hope that we will be loved in return. Gods perfect love is one way! It hold not agenda. Text - 1. John 4:10 2.) Our love has limits, God's perfect love is limitless. Text - Ephesians 3:18-19 3.) Our love says we would die for someone who we loved. Gods perfect love died for people who where bad and didn’t even deserve love Quote: “To some, the image of a pale body glimmering on a dark night whispers of defeat. What good is a God who does not control his Son's suffering? But another sound can be heard: the shout of a God crying out to human beings, "I LOVE YOU." Love was compressed for all history in that lonely figure on the cross, who said that he could call down angels at any moment on a rescue mission, but chose not to - because of us. - Phillip Yancey. 21.02.2016 - 10 AM ------------------------------------- Phillippians 1:6-11 (ESV) 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace,[a] both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. 8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. 1. Jesus isn't finished with You 2. We are in this together 3. Trust the Love of God

Why Series - Why Worship - Ps James Murray

24.01.2016 - 10 AM ------------------------------------ John 4:5-26 Worship = The object of adoring reverence , To give Worth to something. 1.) Worship isn’t Blind - Acts 17:23(ESV) 2.) Worship isn’t Empty - Matthew 15:7-9(ESV) 3.) Worship isn’t Forced - Colossians 2:18 "What is worship? Worship is to feel in your heart and express in some appropriate manner a humbling but delightful sense of admiring awe and astonished wonder and overpowering love in the presence of that most ancient Mystery, that Majesty which philosophers call the First Cause, but which we call Our Father Which Are in Heaven." - AW Tower # Worship is my truth encountering his truth # Worship is personal before its public # Worship is me giving God greater worth than anything else # Worship is my mind and my heart being poured out to God "Worship must be vital and real in the heart, and worship must rest on a true perception of God. There must be spirit and there must be truth. . . . Truth without emotion produces dead orthodoxy and a church full (or half-full) of artificial admirers . . . . On the other hand, emotion without truth produces empty frenzy and cultivates shallow people who refuse the discipline of rigorous thought. But true worship comes from people who are deeply emotional and who love deep and sound doctrine. Strong affections for God rooted in truth are the bone and marrow of biblical worship." - John Piper

Why Series - Why Church - Ps James Murray

17.01.2016 - 10 AM ----------------------------------- Matthew 16:13-18 2 Corinthians 5:14-18 Addiction - “The state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming" I am addicted: A) I am addicted to judge others B) I am addicted being selfish C) I am addicted to NOT being transparent D) I am addicted to avoiding other people burdens E) I am addicted to pleasing people F) I am addicted to expecting forgiveness when I need it, but withholding it when someone else needs it. 2 Corinthians 5:14-18 The church is place where: 1.) We learn and are reminded to be controlled by the love of Christ (v.14) 2.) We learn and are reminded to no longer live for ourselves (v.15) 3.) We learn and are reminded to stop judging people by the outside (v.16) 4.) We learn and are reminded that we are a new creation (v.17) 5.) We learn and are reminded that we are reconciled to God (v.18) 6.) We learn and are reminded about the reality of grace (v. 18) Romans 7:15-25 “The day we find the perfect church, it becomes imperfect the moment we join it.” ― Charles Spurgeon

Why Series - Why live by the Bible - Ps James Murray

03.01.2016 - 10 AM --------------------------------- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 WHY THE BIBLE 1.) Because it is written by God the Bible is the only book that claims to be the actual words of God. (out of any religion) The Bible was written over a 1600 year period by approximately 40 men. The time of the writing was from 1500 BC to AD 100. There were several secular historians who wrote about the events of the New Testament at the same time the Bible was being written. Josephus is the most well-known of them. He was a Jewish historian. Tacitus was a Roman historian who would have no benefit from not telling the truth. Both these men, as well as others, can be used to back up the historical accuracy of the Bible. 2.) Because it guides me in every area of my life Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. “The Bible was not given for our information but for our transformation.” — D.L. Moody 3.) Because it is full of freeing truth to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. John 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Quote: Jesus proclaimed unmistakably that Gods law is so perfect and absolute that no one can achieve righteousness. Yet Gods grace is so great that we do not have to. By striving to prove how much they deserve Gods love, legalist miss the whole point of the gospel, that it is a gift from God to people who don’t deserve it. - Phillip Yancey 4.) It prepares and equips me. 5.) Because it reveals to me that I have a purpose

Planning to Trust - Ps James Murray

27.12.2015 - 10 AM ----------------------------------- “PLANNING TO TRUST" Proverbs 16:1-3 "The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established" John 15:4-5 "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. Jeremiah 29:1 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 1. The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord 2. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit (motivation) 3. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established" Quote - Matthew Henry The great concerns of our souls must be committed to the grace of God, with a dependence upon and submission to the conduct of that grace; all our outward concerns must be committed to the providence of God, and to the sovereign, wise, and gracious disposal of that providence. Roll thy works upon the Lord; roll the burden of thy care from thyself upon God. Lay the matter before him by prayer. Make known thy works unto the Lord, not only the works of thy hand, but the workings of thy heart; and then leave it with him, by faith and dependence upon him, submission and resignation to him. The will of the Lord be done. We may then be easy when we resolve that whatever pleases God shall please us.

Why I need Christmas - In With Them

20.12.2015 - 10 AM ------------------------------------- Why I need Christmas series- “IM WITH THEM” Matthew 1:18-23 Colossians 1:15-16 1.) It’s not because we are good, but because He is Good. JESUS DIDNT COME TO MAKE US PERFECT IN THE SIGHT OF OTHERS, HE CAME TO GIVE US PERFECT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD Psalm 86:5 Quote: “God is too good to be unkind. He is too wise to be confused. If I cannot trace his hand I can always trust his heart.” - Charles Spurgeon 2.) Not because we deserve it, but because he loves us. Ephesians 2:4-9 “God’s Word tells us that God has spoken of old in many portions and in many ways through His servants concerning His heart’s desire and that He loves us. But man did not understand. Therefore, God had to personally come to this world and become a man. This man is Jesus, the Christ, whom we know.” ― Watchman Nee 3.) Not because we wanted him, but He wanted us. Deuteronomy 4:24

Why I need Christmas - The problems with happiness and the reason for joy

13.12.2015 - 10 AM ---------------------------------------- 1. It is the good news of the presence of God Psalms 46:1 2. It is the good news of the power of God There is something in Christian hope that the shadows can quench-and that something is the conviction that God is alive. No man is hopeless as long as there is the grace of Jesus Christ; and no situation is hopeless as long as there is the power of God. - William Barclay 3. It is the good news of the peace of God John 14:27 (ESV)

    Why I need Christmas

06.12.2015 - 10 AM Service ---------------------------------------- Luke 2:1-19 (NLT) 1) Jesus came to show once and for all Gods ability to clean things up is far greater than our ability to mess things up Quote: “(Sin is) The human propensity to #%# things up, because what we're talking about here is not just our tendency to lurch and stumble and screw up by accident, our passive role as agents of entropy. It's our active inclination to break stuff-- "stuff" here including moods, promises, relationships we care about and our own wellbeing and other people..." - Francis Spufford (article in the Huffington Post) Romans 5:20-21 (NLT) 2) Jesus came to show that relationship with God is not restricted to a select few Luke 2:8 3) Jesus came to declare that the message of God is great joy and good news! Luke 2:10

Losing my Religion - Religion vs Release

29.11.2015 - 10 AM Service ----------------------------------------- Galatians 5:1-7 (NLT) 2 Corinthians 3:17 (ESV) 1.) I am released from trying to Validate myself and constantly seek the approval of others Galatians 2:19-21 “As long as we are seeking our worth in anything and everything but the gospel of God’s grace, we will keep seeking and keep wearing ourselves out in the process. But in Christ’s finished work is ultimate and eternal validation. And ultimate and eternal rest.” ― Tullian Tchividjian 2.) I am released to bring my sin and shame before God and find forgiveness Text - Romans 6:18(NLT) 3.) I am released from all past, present and future hurt.

Losing my Religion - Religion vs Realness

22.11.2015 - 10 AM Service -------------------------------------------------------- Luke 11:37-46 (NLT) Luke 4:16-22(ESV) 1. Religion promotes preference. While Realness holds tight to truth (V.38) 2. Religion cares about the outside, realness deals with the inside (V.39-41) 3. Religion cares about ritual, realness cares about meaning (V.42) 4. Religion seeks to get personal glory, while realness seeks to give Jesus glory (V.43) Religion crushes, Realness liberates. (v45-46)

  39. 22

Losing my Religion - Religion vs Redemption

15.11.2015 - 10 AM Service ----------------------------------------------- Romans 3:21-26 (NLT) 1.) Religion leads to uncertainty about my status with God because I don't know if I have done enough. Redemption leads us to confidence because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross (V.21-22) 2.) Religion says the world is filled with bad people and good people. Redemption says the world is filled with bad people who are either repentant or unrepentant (V.23-24) 3.) Religion is about what I have to do. The gospel is about what I get to do. (V.25-26) “The temptation of the age is to look good without being good.” ― Brennan Manning, "The way of religion is concerned with what man can do for himself, the way of grace (redemption) is concerned with what God has done and will do for him"

  40. 21

Losing my Religion - Religion vs Relationship

08.11.2015 - 10 AM Service -------------------------------------------------------- Matthew 11:28-30 3 TYPES OF PEOPLE 1. People who carry the weight of sin 2. People who carry the weight of religion 3. People who have the relationship with Jesus. “When Jesus came on the scene in human history and began calling followers to himself, he did not say,”follow certain rules. Observe specific regulations. Perform ritual duties. Pursue a particular path.” Instead, he said, “Follow me”. With these two simple words, Jesus made clear that his primary purpose was not to instruct his disciples in a prescribed religion; his primary purpose was to invite his disciples into a personal relationship.” - David Platt

That Church in Cronulla - A strictly inclusive Church, Ps James Murray

01.11.15 - 10 AM Service --------------------------------------------- Galatians 2,11-20, Romans 15:7 1. It's REAL - 2 Corinthians 12, 9-11 "There is a beautiful transparency to honest disciples who never wear a false face and do not pretend to be anything but who they are ... . To live by grace means to acknowledge my whole life story, the light side and the dark. In admitting my shadow side I learn who I am and what God's grace means." - Brennan Manning 2. It's RAW "I have never met the man I could despair of after discerning what lies in me apart from the grace of God." - Oswald Chambers 3. It's RELENTLESSLY INCLUSIVE "The gospel is one big open invitation to a party intended for all. The dress code is the real you. You don't have to bring a gift as it will be provided for you when you arrive. You come in through gates of God's goodness and then walk through the beautifully welcoming doors of repentance. The theme of the party is love and mercy, and the host of the celebration is Jesus. The gift you receive is God's grace and forgiveness, and you are welcomed to sit at never ending table of fellowship with God your creator. There are reserved seats all around which have been left for your friends, your family, your enemies and complete strangers who you have been encouraged to invite and share to party with. You've been invited to invite, included to include, and loved to show love." - James Murray

That Church in Cronulla – Authentic community, Ps James Murray

18.10.15 - 10 AM Service ----------------------------------- Acts 2:42, Romans 15:5-7 We devote ourselves to ... 1. ... the teachings of Jesus 2. ... fellowship 3. ... sharing life together 4. ... prayer 5. ... generosity 6. ... worship Quote: “Jesus comes not for the super-spiritual, but for the wobbly and the weak-kneed who know they don’t have it all together, and who are not too proud to accept the handout of amazing grace…Something is radically wrong when the local church rejects a person who is accepted by Jesus…Any church that will not accept that it consists of sinful men and women, and exists for them, implicitly rejects the gospel of grace.” - Brennan Manning
