This week we looked at Luke 18:9–14 and focused on the truth that Jesus is the standard by which we are to measure ourselves, not other people. Pride leads to comparison!

Do you ever measure your worth by comparing yourself to others? The truth is, there’s only one comparison that truly matters—Jesus. He’s the standard, and He’s the one who makes us good. Time with Him shapes how we live and helps us grow to look more like Him.

This week, Frank taught on the dangers of legalism versus true Christianity as expressed in Galatians 5. We explored how false teachers were telling the Galatians they needed Jesus plus religious rules (like circumcision) to be saved. Paul strongly refutes this, explaining that legalism—trying to earn salvation through works—is actually a false religion that severs us from Christ, while true Christianity offers salvation by grace through faith alone, empowered by the Holy Spirit and motivated by love rather than rule-keeping.

Christians have been set free from spiritual slavery and adopted as God's children. Yet, we often face the temptation to return to legalism and religious rule-keeping. In Galatians 4:1-20, Paul reminds believers that through Christ, we've been rescued from empty worldly principles and given a new identity as sons and heirs with direct access to God as our Father.

How do the law of God and the promises of God work together? The Galatians wondered exactly that! In this talk we'll learn from Galatians 3:15-29 that the Law had purpose, but the purpose was never to save. Justification is only received through faith in Christ and being a part of His family.

This week Grant taught on missions! God has called us to live on mission and for some to be sent on global missions. Are we hearing God’s commission and ignoring it? Or will we be obedient to His Call?

Hannah teaches on Galatians 3:1-14. Paul calls out the Galatians for turning from grace back to the law. He calls them foolish for it! From the Old to the New Testament, a gospel of faith alone is preached. Paul reminded the Galatians that they received salvation through faith and now ought to continue in faith.

In this week’s talk, Frank walked us through Galatians 2:11-21. In this passage, we are given a front-row seat to Paul confronting Peter due to his hypocrisy. Peter’s sin risked confusing the truth of the gospel, and Paul’s confrontation sought to lead his brother and others back to the truth in Christ. In this passage, we also learned emphatically that obedience to the Law cannot save anyone. Christ had to die in our place because we could not and cannot measure up to the Holy God. In many ways, Tuesday’s lesson served as a precursor to one of the primary themes of this powerful book. We can only be made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus. Genuine faith will lead to real change, as God works within us from the inside out.
