Phil Collen and Paul Cook On Making MANRAZE Music

LEGEND ALERT! When you hear that Phil Collen (Def Leppard) and Paul Cook (Sex Pistols) are checking in life is GOOD! Phil and Paul have been in the band MANRAZE (their side project) for more than 20 years (along with Bassist Simon Laffy who was in GIRL with Phil) and this killer trio is combining all of their influences and musical inspirations. Cool thing? They just released LOCK STOCK & BARREL-  a 5 CD boxed set that gives the fans a FULL look and listen - The MANRAZE experience if you will. The first two albums, an instrumental, live performances and "unreleased and unleashed"  a full disc or rarities and songs that never appeared on a Manraze album. We discuss power trios, making music with friends and why the London influence still fuels them. Loved this conversation with Phil Collen and Paul "Cookie" Cook. Rock Royalty, Legends, Great Guys. TC Out! Sevendust's Lajon Witherspoon on 30 Years Of RHYTHM AND BANG

Conversation's with LJ from Sevendust are always like a catch up with an old friend.  That's what makes them special for me. Sevendust has been an Active Rock force for close to 30 years and their 15th release "ONE" is out and is dazzling. To me, their best yet. One of rock's greatest live bands, one of rock's greatest frontmen. In this Carr Stereo episode Lajon discusses how making this one felt different vocally, fatherhood and the road, playing a sold out  Madison Square Garden for the first time and his distinct style of "Rhythm and Bang".  LJ  checked in from the road, on the bands bus and I'm always grateful for the time when an artist is on tour. Amanda Lyberg From Eva Under Fire On New Music, New Energy and Speaking Truth To Power

Eva Under Fire is a KILLER band and catching up with Eva front woman and powerhouse- Amanda Lyberg is always energizing for me as an interviewer. Why? Because of her power. The band is releasing their new record "Villainous" on July 10th and it's a collection of hard hitting, Metal infused vignettes, each song painting a different picture and telling a different story. We discuss how "AMANDA" is front and center and how truth rules the music AND the incredible title track that features another QUEEN- Maria Brink from In This Moment.  Detroit grit, and how songwriting can be different when you are a licensed therapist. (Which Amanda is) Don't miss Eva Under Fire out on the road beginning in July with Five Finger Death Punch (which we discuss and means so much to the band) The perfect way to close out "Women's History Month" . TC Out! An Afternoon With Darryl DMC McDaniels

Truth be told. I love Darryl McDaniels. Well, that's because we caught up at Catfight Coffee - a rock and roll (and horror) themed coffee house in Boonton New Jersey that has not only great coffee, but a magic vibe. Darryl and I hiphop deep dive to the glory days of rap in NYC, how RUN DMC were the pioneers of rock and rap merging long before their Aerosmith collaboration, we discuss his demons, his reinvention, his inspirations AND new music and future plans. A White Lion Deep Dive With Mike Tramp

Truly one of the most underrated bands of the 1980's was White Lion. Great songs, killer guitar player, charismatic, hot singer, talented rhythm section and the "Pride" (no pun intended) of MTV. Then they were gone.....I caught up with their founder Mike Tramp for a candid conversation over 30 years since our last chat (when we both were wearing leather and had GIANT hair!) about forming the band, his relationship with Vito Bratta, why the East Coast means so much to him, and more. What happened? Was there gas still left in the tank? Did their record company support them? And Mike explains how he is still honoring the White Lion song legacy while not being the same guy he was in the 1980's. It was a great ride, with Mike Tramp from White Lion. TC Out! And his new record is something else, with music coming from him and lyrics coming from the writings of Washington's Rules Of Civility (you can't make it up!) Enjoy the musical musings of Paul Gilbert. TC Out! Tune in next week!

Dameon Aranda From Aranda on Success, Loss and Coming Back BIG

It's always inspiring to connect with a band that I have been a huge fan of, that may not be top of mind for rock fans UNTIL they come back with something BIG. That is what this week's Carr Stereo Podcast represents. As a radio programmer, I have been a longtime fan of Aranda. Formed by brothers  Dameon and Gabe Aranda out of Oklahoma City. Aranda  busted out of the active rock scene in the late 2000’s with songs like "Still In The Dark", "Whyyawannabringmedown"- (covered by Kelly Clarkson) "Satisfied", and more- Great sound, big chunky hits.  Then Aranda  kind of disappeared- until 2022 when they returned with  "Recollections Of A Painted Year".  Now they are back-  with a great new single-  "You Don’t Wanna Know" - that was the #1 most added song at rock radio in it's first week- Well deserved- It's a SMASH!  I caught up with  Dameon Aranda - Aranda's guitarist and songwriter to discus where the band has been and where they are going - Don't know them? Kind of remember them" ? You will! Aranda returns. Success, loss and rebuilding - all covered  this week with Dameon Aranda.  TC Out! Tune in next week!

New Music Discovery with Vengent Strays on the 80's, forging their own path and their "Famous" Fans

Carr Stereo LOVES exposing new talent and Vengent Strays are SO talented! Vengent Strays -  Not just a band - It’s a Movement.  Hailing from California, members  honed their craft as one of SoCal's most popular 80's covers bands (Stay Tuned) and have been described as raw energy, cranked guitars, and unapologetic attitude,  delivering a sound that hits like a shot of adrenaline. Now it's time to craft their OWN music. With gritty swagger and an anthemic punch, the band channels classic rock power through a modern lens. Introducing awesome new rock artists is a BIG part of who I am and what I do and "New Music Discovery" is a big part of Carr Stereo.  How does a California kid have the nerve to hit up a member of Tesla, meet Sammy Hagar, and get his band started? Meet Dino Wild from Red Voodoo, a band with a killer vintage vibe, and a DIY mentality. Indie and awesome. "We Are A Gen Z Rock Band"! Chris Daughtry is a force of nature and the release of his band Daughtry's second EP in a year- "Shock To The System 2" has solidified their seat in the current based rock arena and Chris's position as a rock star. In this episode Chris discusses crafting the emotional songs, reinvention, writing your own story and leaving the opinions of others behind to become your authentic self.  Advice from Chris? Bangin' and Twangin' With Chris Robertson from Black Stone Cherry

Black Stone Cherry is one of current based rock music's most dynamic bands and Chris Robertson is not only a super talented frontman, vocalist, guitar player and songwriter, he's also a great friend.  I was so excited when I grabbed the first chat with Chris about the bands upcoming EP - "Celebrate" . Chris breaks down the songs, talks about covering an 80's pop classic with a rock pal and why Dolly Parton is The Goat. If the band comes to your neck of the woods, don't miss them! And "Celebrate" is masterful.  Coming in March 2026. Thanks for listening! TCTC Out! Tune in next week!
