There is something special about being in the space where an artist creates their music. And in this week's episode, that's what I did! I headed  to Des Rocs Queens New York studio to celebrate the release of his third album - TO HELL AND BACK - (Out  6/12) on Sumarian Records  and we album deep dive, discuss how Danny became Des, staying true to your art, opening for your heroes  and more. AND with all the guitars and gear around, Des treats us to an acoustic version of "This Land" and plays us out with his electric magic.It's a special "Record Release Edition" of The Carr Stereo Podcast-  Enjoy. TC Out! LEGEND ALERT! When you hear that Phil Collen (Def Leppard) and Paul Cook (Sex Pistols) are checking in life is GOOD! Phil and Paul have been in the band MANRAZE (their side project) for more than 20 years (along with Bassist Simon Laffy who was in GIRL with Phil) and this killer trio is combining all of their influences and musical inspirations. Conversation's with LJ from Sevendust are always like a catch up with an old friend.  That's what makes them special for me. Sevendust has been an Active Rock force for close to 30 years and their 15th release "ONE" is out and is dazzling. To me, their best yet. One of rock's greatest live bands, one of rock's greatest frontmen. In this Carr Stereo episode Lajon discusses how making this one felt different vocally, fatherhood and the road, playing a sold out  Madison Square Garden for the first time and his distinct style of "Rhythm and Bang".  LJ  checked in from the road, on the bands bus and I'm always grateful for the time when an artist is on tour. Bullets and Octane has always been such a COOL band and I'm thrilled that they have new music out and are still making lots of noise THEIR way. I caught up with their frontman (and punk king) Gene Louis for a deep dive, music business conversation about lasting through trends, ups and downs, 20 years of their RCA major label debut- "In The Mouth Of The Young" and crafting an anthem for TODAY- "Losing My Mind" . Thanks to Gene for the in depth convo. Johnny Van Zant is always a pleasure to hang with.  And the person who has the coolest take on his brother Ronnie. In this Carr Stereo episode Johnny and I discuss various Skynyrd band documentaries, Gary Rossington's final show, teaming up with Jellyroll and friends for their "50 Years Live From the Ryman collection, their massive fanbase and memories of being Ronnie's Little Brother . Catalog, Character and Camaraderie - To me that's Skynyrd. TC Out! GUITAR! We love Guitar. April is "International Guitar Month" and a fantastic excuse to highlight some of my favorite players on Carr Stereo. This week I hang with two legends.  Don and Joe- Felder and Satriani. Don Felder discusses his latest collection "The Vault- 50 Years Of Music' , his touring mantra , his inspirations, and how his legacy combines with a new energy. THEN we jump in with Joe Satriani. Joe talks G3 and the live collection, Steve Vai, how his son ZZ is carrying on the mission and more. Love both of these guys so much. Killer musicians, fantastic people. Enjoy! TC Out! Eva Under Fire is a KILLER band and catching up with Eva front woman and powerhouse- Amanda Lyberg is always energizing for me as an interviewer. Why? Because of her power. The band is releasing their new record "Villainous" on July 10th and it's a collection of hard hitting, Metal infused vignettes, each song painting a different picture and telling a different story. We discuss how "AMANDA" is front and center and how truth rules the music AND the incredible title track that features another QUEEN- Maria Brink from In This Moment.  Detroit grit, and how songwriting can be different when you are a licensed therapist. Fun, Energy, Grit and Sleaze are back in rock! With the third release from Boston's "Bad Marriage" and in this edition of Carr Stereo, I catch up with guitarists Mike Fitz and Tommy Skeoch (formerly of Tesla) who discuss finding "their sound", how being  a "Masshole" defines their vibe,, and putting together their new release "Match Made In Hell" on RFK Media.   It's a killer party rock record where guitars are the main party guest, so it was incredible to have the axe team of Mike and Tommy together for this interview.  There is a great chemistry within the band and you'll get the feel for why when you listen. TC Out! SUPERGROUP ALERT! And this one is fantastic. Downtime during the Covid pandemic brought Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts, Jason Scheff from Chicago together to put together a band that now consists of additional members Tom Yankton and Chris Rodriguez on Guitar and the amazing drum god Steve Ferrone who has played with everyone from Clapton to Duran Duran to Tom Petty. The bands second release "Take 2" is arriving on April 17th on Frontiers music and I sat down with Jay and Jason to discuss "putting the band together" , we break down some tunes on the record, recruiting Steve (who replaced original GR drummer , Journey member Deen Castronovo), Jason's "Rush" moments with Alex Lifeson  and the guys tell some fun stories during our chat. Mega talent "warning" on this one....TC Out! I love having my industry pals on Carr Stereo to discuss music and this week it's one of my oldest and dearest pals, Gary Jay, the founder of Land Shark Promotion Studio who joins me to talk - "Criminally Underrated 80's". Why do some bands/songs become hits while others are misses? Gary and I break down 22 of our favorites from an amazing decade of tunes. I have known Gary since his days working for TVT records and Land Shark is a company dedicated to the artists they represent and have a great track record of breaking amazing artists. Legendary vocalist Robin McAuley hangs on Carr Stereo on release day for Black Swan's third record- PARALYZED- and we break down some tracks from this phenomenal supergroup that also features guitarist Reb Beach, bassist Jeff Pilson and drummer Matt Starr. Will the band do live shows? What was record #3 like? What is the future for Black Swan? And what exactly does "Black Swan" mean? Robin fills us in. Robin's work with Michael Schenker, solo and with Black Swan has put him in the category of rock's A List vocalists.  I always love catching up with him. TC Out! Truth be told. I love Darryl McDaniels. And I have always loved RUN DMC.  I have known DMC coming up on 20 years and he is the most interesting, engaging, passionate yet humble guest. Do you hear some "background noise"? Well, that's because we caught up at Catfight Coffee - a rock and roll (and horror) themed coffee house in Boonton New Jersey that has not only great coffee, but a magic vibe. Darryl and I hiphop deep dive to the glory days of rap in NYC, how RUN DMC were the pioneers of rock and rap merging long before their Aerosmith collaboration, we discuss his demons, his reinvention, his inspirations AND new music and future plans. Darryl is the greatest storyteller and I'm honored to have spent some time with this rock and roll hall of fame and living legend on Carr Stereo. ENJOY! TC Out! Tune in next week! 

Truly one of the most underrated bands of the 1980's was White Lion. Great songs, killer guitar player, charismatic, hot singer, talented rhythm section and the "Pride" (no pun intended) of MTV. Then they were gone.....I caught up with their founder Mike Tramp for a candid conversation over 30 years since our last chat (when we both were wearing leather and had GIANT hair!) about forming the band, his relationship with Vito Bratta, why the East Coast means so much to him, and more. What happened? Was there gas still left in the tank? Did their record company support them? And Mike explains how he is still honoring the White Lion song legacy while not being the same guy he was in the 1980's. It was a great ride, with Mike Tramp from White Lion. TC Out! Racer X, Mr. Big, and Solo- Paul Gilbert is the GOAT! Sheer guitar brilliance on a whole other level and I loved picking Paul's  brain on his upcoming release WROC, early inspiration, teaching days, hearing loss and more. Paul is also such a character with his ability to weave stories through his musical accomplishments, he's a dream interview. And his new record is something else, with music coming from him and lyrics coming from the writings of Washington's Rules Of Civility (you can't make it up!) Some people sing, some deliver songs. John Corabi does both. John has fronted some super cool bands like The Scream, Union, The Dead Daisies and of course Motley Crue and has put out some fantastic music over the years. This time, he has outdone himself. His first (official) solo record - "New Day" comes out on 4/24 and he has out together an incredible group of players and songs. In this episode John discusses why music shouldn't "be boxed", his friend and touring mate Tom Keifer, songwriting, the magic of Marti Frederiksen, covering Sly and The Family Stone, Philadelphia and New Jersey music scene memories and more. When I interview "The Crab" (as he is called) I call it "Going Crabbing" and I love talking to John! Damon Johnson is putting the band back together! His band that is. In this episode of Carr Stereo, the Brother Cane founder discusses the bands first new full album release in 28 years - Magnolia Medicine and it's first single - "If This Means War" and why the time was right to revive the power of this awesome 90's band. Damon has played guitar with so many over the years including Alice Cooper, Thin Lizzy, John Waite and of course is STILL a member of the legendary :Lynyrd Skynyrd, and not only do we talk about new music, but Damon talks about writing with his "old friend and secret weapon" Marti Frederiksen , Skynyrd moments and Brother Cane's first big tour with the mighty Van Halen. Thanks for catching up Damon, can't wait to see you on tour! TC Out! It's always inspiring to connect with a band that I have been a huge fan of, that may not be top of mind for rock fans UNTIL they come back with something BIG. That is what this week's Carr Stereo Podcast represents. As a radio programmer, I have been a longtime fan of Aranda. Formed by brothers  Dameon and Gabe Aranda out of Oklahoma City. Aranda  busted out of the active rock scene in the late 2000’s with songs like "Still In The Dark", "Whyyawannabringmedown"- (covered by Kelly Clarkson) "Satisfied", and more- Great sound, big chunky hits.  Then Aranda  kind of disappeared- until 2022 when they returned with  "Recollections Of A Painted Year".  Now they are back-  with a great new single-  "You Don’t Wanna Know" - that was the #1 most added song at rock radio in it's first week- Well deserved- It's a SMASH!  I caught up with  Dameon Aranda - Aranda's guitarist and songwriter to discus where the band has been and where they are going - Don't know them? Let's jam with a hit machine! 38 Special! So many killer songs and as we enter a new year that has so many band hitting the road for 50th anniversary tours, I'm thrilled that 38 Special is one of them. I caught up with my old friend, 38 Special founder Don Barnes to talk about that magic catalog of tunes, advice he got from Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, his songwriting heroes, and the "MUSCLE and MELODY" that sustains a band for 50 years. AND the band has a new release to celebrate their 50th called- "MILESTONE" - and Don opens up about crafting their first new record in 20 years. SFN is a Podcast for Rush fans, and is one of the best Rush casts I've found. I was honored to have been a guest once (discussing radio programming and embracing RUSH) so having the guys on with me was fantastic. I have also known them both for over 20 years. What happens when a kid from Langhorne Pennsylvania becomes a fan of Slipknot, Meek Mill and Shinedown and decides to write and produce his own music at age 8? Chances are things will turn out pretty cool! Matt Cullen morphed into Zero 9:36 after being inspired to create music. And create he has. I had a blast getting to know Zero and catch up with him live from the road just before he dropped his new album- "They Were Always Here" - which he describes as a "mixtape of the sounds I love". Fresh familiar, future. TC Out! Cory Marks is such a unique artist who combines the songwriting sensibility of country with the loud guitars of rock and metal and the Canadian hit making of Bryan Adams, I first met Cory and saw him live a few years back and was not disappointed. His new release "Sorry For Nothing Volume 2" is out now and we caught up the day before he left for tour with SEVENDUST on the "Southside Double Wide" Acoustic tour.  In this episode we touch on country vs. rock, collaborating with producer Kevin Churko, believing in yourself, Bryan Adams, Rush and more! Bella Perron is a fantastic young guitar player who many know from her time with the all female rock band PLUSH, and her current band The Midnight Cowgirls. Bella is branching out and crafting instrumental rockers and in this episode, she discusses reinventing her sound, feel and not being afraid to jump in and take a chance.  We also discuss her new songs "Enlighten" and "Mirrors" and how being an instrumental performer differs than being a band member. What a blast catching up with New Jersey's own Emerson Hart from one of the underrated bands of all time- 90's hit makers - TONIC. Emerson checked in to discuss kicking off a cool holiday tour with his pals Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray and Kevin Griffin from Better Than Ezra as a part of his "Ezra Ray Hart" project - which mixes the catalogs of all three bands with holiday tunes and a few surprises. Emerson also talks about Jersey roots, the special feel of their million selling record "Lemon Parade" surviving the 90's and why being a faceless band of the ear was actually a great thing. TC Out! Des Rocs is as real as they come when it comes to authenticity in music. A New York kid (4 generations strong) who was born Danny Rocco, Des first entered my radar in 2018, but it wasn't until I saw him perform live (opening for The Rolling Stones in a stadium!) in 2019, that I started to connect Des with a new sound of New York. We discuss his new tune "This Land" from the Borderlands 4 gaming series, crafting sound, tone, touring, grit and polish and more. And a new album which is coming in 2026. Dinosaur Pile-Up is such an epic band- Hailing from the UK, their brash, quirky, unique vibe is contagious! So where have they been? Their 2019 debut "Celebrity Mansions" was killer and then they were gone.  Their frontman Matt Bigland joins me for an in-depth chat about his health, survival, falling in love and getting creative again. Ayron Jones is a master at reinventing what we love about rock. Guitar driven passion, storytelling authenticity, and a fusion of sounds and styles.  Ayron is  a ground breaker with his solo artist chart topping rock history.  His debut release "Child Of the State" launched him into rock stardom and his second release "Chronicles Of The Kid" kept him on the road - non-stop touring with every genre of music and helped him get hand picked by The Rolling Stones to open their shows.  What's it like to hold the record for chart positions as a black solo artist?
