Cascadian Beer Podcast
by Cascadian Beer Podcast
This is not your average beer show. You won't find consistent beer reviews or the latest opinion gossip about the industry. The Cascadian Beer Podcast is about the people behind the local breweries in the Pacific Northwest. Each episode is dedicated to a single brewery; we profile their history, how they started and their place in the local community. Cascadia is a bio-region in the Pacific Northwest which is made up of the US States of Washington & Oregon, as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia. This is an area that helped kickstart the craft beer industry in North America and has seen tremendous growth in recent years.Subscribe to the Cascadian Beer Podcast to learn and discover new breweries in the Pacific Northwest.Visit the website: http://cascadian.beer

Ace Brewing Company - Courtenay, British Columbia
Breweries can be a strong focal point for any community. Many of them align their name with the characteristics or features of their surroundings. Today I find myself mid-island on Vancouver Island in the town of Courtenay, British Columbia. Located on the traditional, unceded territories of the K’ómoks First Nation. Ace Brewing opened its doors in 2019, and is proud of their Vintage Aviation theme reflecting the history of the Comox Valley and Canadian Air Force. I sat down with their head brewer Dan Lake. Passport: Malbygg Brugghus - Reykjavik, Iceland
I recently took a trip out of Cascadia to explore a new part of the world. I found myself in Iceland where craft beer is starting to take off in the country. Beer above 2% ABV was actually illegal in Iceland until 1989 and on top of that, not much agriculture in the country to speak of. So I was curious to find out how much the craft beer scene has grown in that short amount of time and what sort of challenges are faced in making beer in Iceland. I visited a local brewery with a team behind it who started importing craft beer. I sat down with Andri Kjartansson, Ingi Kjartansson and Steinn Stefánsson of Malbygg Brugghus.
