Jesus redeems our past, present and future. In our failures our guilt and our shame he does shy away from us. Like Peter he comes to meet with us and direct us back into his will and purpose even when we find ourselves Pulled back into our own lives. 

John 19 tells the story of Jesus' crucifixion through the lens of His unwavering love. Though fully aware of the betrayal, rejection, and suffering ahead, Jesus willingly went to the cross anyway. This message explores His finished work and our response to it.

The heart of fatherhood is summed up this way - one whom, in love, is willing to take responsibility for things beyond himself. Acts like these can only come from our character. Fatherhood changes who you are  - we cant show what we don't know.The areas we struggle with the most are the very areas we allow Gods love in the least.Biblical fatherhood is not about conjuring for ourselves the right moves at the right moments but rather letting the example ofGod to you - flow through you.

Jesus prays for you! That we would be kept unified and in him despite hardship in this world. With the ultimate goal being, that we experience perfect unity with God. Has disunity or “truth” not found in Gods word lead you away from God in the past? How about now? Knowing Jesus’ prayer for you, what action can you take towards Jesus’ prayed will for your life?

When your joy is in the Lord, and you know you're not alone because God is with you then you don't have to be the overcomer if you know the overcomer. Where are you currently experiencing sorrow? In that experience are you fighting to work it out yourself? Or are you trusting that God will turn into joy?

Jesus warns us of the hate we will receive following him. As Christ followers we have to face and deal with our sin. Jesus calls out the sin in our lives. In order for us to become more like him and to be free. The world rejects Jesus and therefore will reject us as we follow him. 

As people, but especially as mothers. We can feel the things we do go unseen by the world around us. Little things we do everyday to keep things together can be missed and this can be discouraging. But we serve a God who sees us and desires to meet with us in whatever stage we're in.

This past weekend at NLC we had the pleasure of hosting Tim Hart to speak on the topic of Spiritual Gifts as well as Spiritual Conflict. This weeks episode was recorded during our Sunday service where Tim introduced his next part of his sessions on Spiritual Conflict:" Christian’s we are saved, regenerated as new creations in Christ, and sealed with the Holy Spirit-  yet while we live in the world, we live  in on-going spiritual conflict with 3 enemies: the world the flesh and the devil. Each one of these is just as evil as the others and our responses to each of these differs (resist the devil, crucify the flesh, be in the world but not of the world). The good news is that God has fully equipped us to walk in full victory and triumph over each through Christ."

The Holy Spirit is given as a “Helper”, the help is to empower us to love God through actions of obedience. Jesus in his words brings us to an understanding that we will either obey the father or the world. What is one thing in our life that is drawing us away from obedience to God? What would it look like to lean into the “Helper” in order to love God and experience Christ manifestation in your life?

As the last supper continues to unfold, Jesus makes a powerful truth statement. He claims that he is the truth, the way, and the life! How does this impact the church? How does this impact our lives? Knowing that Jesus is the only way to the Father - how do we move forward knowing this ultimate truth. 

Listening vs. Understanding, knowing the difference, andknowing one is required for the other (you have to truly listen totruly understand). Are we willing to commit yourself to learning and listening to Jesus teaching, so that we may understand the truth. Join us for our Easter message.

John 13 is the story of Jesus and his disciples at the last supper. Jesus gets up and serves his disciples. At this moment Jesus is modeling what it means to be a servant. No matter our position, or statues we are called to serve and to lead well. Jesus is the king of kings and yet, is humble enough to serve his own followers. How do we respond?

Jesus isn’t passive in our suffering, like at Lazarus’ tomb, he is deeply grieved and angered at the state of our suffering, even though healing is guaranteed for those who believe in him. Can we be willing to lean in to our own suffering and allow Jesus to lean in with us. Rather than asking him to take us out, invite him in, to ease the burden, not avoiding our hurt.

How do we know the voice of the Good shepherd? At one point or another we'll end up following something. But only following Jesus leads to abundant life. 

At times, God uses our hardships for His glory and eternal purpose. The blind man had to walk in faith + obedience before experiencing God’s miracle. Are we willing to do things God's way, in Gods timing, for Gods glory? Even if it means suffering a while in a world that questions God’s work in us when it happens?

How did Jesus respond to those convicted of sin? While influential figures of his time called for judgment and condemnation, Jesus answered with boundless grace. In John 8, we're reminded that only God has the right to judge, and we are called to mirror his compassionate response to others. 

We need to be about God’s business not our own. Purpose comes from being faithful. We are often so busy searching for significance, recognition, to be seen that we miss what God truly has for us. We are distracted, overworked, and busy doing the wrong things that we might be missing the God things.

In John 6 were pointed to a fork in the road we all eventually face, an impossible situation that weights out our resources, our abilities. At times they can make us desperate, however, what if God at times uses these to shift our focus off of what we can do, to what he can do. 

In John 5 Jesus heals a man that was paralyzed for decades. He also addresses two very people types. As we read on, likely well see that we’ve been both. This week we look at what Jesus’ message is to all of us through this chapter.

Why would Jesus call his followers to willingly make their lives more difficult? Is there a reason for the hardship? Short answer is yes. God wants our character to be formed more into his likeness than our own. God's way of life actually leads to more peace, purpose, and joy. The hardships we face actually serve to make us better. Not just for our own lives - but for the lives of others.

NEW SERMON SERIES "GOD +"Jonah runs from what God calls him to. As much as this is a story of how an undeserving people group receive Gods grace, it's also a story of how an undeserving prophet gets used that the delivery equipment for that Grace.

The last sermon on the book of James, a book written to mature the believer in order to reach their full intended purpose. What is that purpose? And what is the cost of not doing the hard work of maturing faith. 

We're entering the last chapter of the book of James! Chapter 5 opens with a harsh warning to rich oppressors. Riches can take us away from the now. Advancing the kingdom of God takes a long term perspective. How can we steward what we have now and make an eternal impact.

Who has the right to Judge? According to James, only God does, so when we judge, what does that make us? We can be a doer of the “law” or a judge of it. This Sunday, we’ll look at how to surrender our feelings of injustice to God. 

What caused fights among the early church? What causes fights now? James refers to the cause as “Passions that war within”, war within… woah! So whats God guidance with this stuff? And what does James mean by “Passions” were digging into that, join in, learn how to put God 1st in all aspects of your life along side us. 

What does it look like to walk in Gods living wisdom? How can we also spot dead wisdom when it arises? Both happen in our lives but lead very different places.

What drives people towards partiality, or favouritism? This is an issue the author of James turns to address. Especially in the community of christians. Since God doesn’t show favourites, how do we ensure we remain in him and abstain from.

Have you ever struggled to listen and obey God? In the book of James, we get an insight to how we can become doers of the word, not just listeners. Our faith is made complete when we practice what we believe!

Gods is good! His goodness is not a season that comes and goes but rather an ever present reality. In this part of the book of James, we shift our focus to remembering this. How observing how his goodness carries us through life. Join us as we continue one with our sermon series: The Road to Maturity.

What is temptation? Where can it lead? How should we deal with it? In this portion of James, we look at the trial of temptation. We will look at James' advice for external trials and hardship, but what about when they come from desire within? How can we remain faithful? Where do you find your security? It's easy to think that what we accumulate in life offers us security. The money we have, the cars we drive, and the status that comes with it. But true security comes from our relationship with Jesus. Knowing that whatever we gain or lose in life, we always have Jesus.

The book of James says there is a way to get wisdom and a way not get it. If we're honest, we don’t want to be known as lacking wisdom. But, truth be told, that happens, sometimes it's lacking. So whats the solution? Find out as we continue our sermon series "The Road To Maturity".
