And the reality is that the deepest cuts tend to come from betrayals rooted in misunderstandings or false accusations from those closest to us.In week 3 of “Comeback Stories,” we pick back up in Peter’s writings to the church facing false accusations from the Romans. Just like Jesus, Peter encourages the early Christians to live a life that gives no evidences towards the allegations and instead points non-believers to Christ.

What does it mean to be different? The Bible calls for Christians to stand out from the world and be holy, but that’s a word that can sometimes just be used with no explanation. Today, we change that. In his last days, David made a mistake that would cost the lives of 70,000 people. And yet, the last words he would write were filled with praises for God. In the face of all the mistakes you've made and trials you've been through, what do you want your legacy to be? In the final week of "Beautifully Broken," we study David's costly decision to take a census in 2 Samuel 24 3-24, and his final writings that would follow in Psalm 145.

But the value of those gifts is determined by how we use them, and using them for our own gain over God's glory often leads to our demise. The Old Testament follows a cycle of God delivering the Israelites only for them to forget His faithfulness, and it's easy for us to fall in the same trap. The upper room was a significant place for Jesus and his disciples, but they weren't meant to stay there after the resurrection. And just like the disciples, we're not called to stay where Jesus meets us. In the final week of "All I Need is a Miracle," we read John 20:19-29 where Jesus makes it clear that he wants to use US to carry out the miracles others are praying for.

You set the limit on what God can do in your life. God's definition of what is possible is far different from ours, but too often we settle for what we can map out and understand ourselves. As we read from Mark 6 and John 6, we see the 12 discliples do the exact same thing. But just like Jesus is waiting to do in our lives today, he shows that we can't box a miracle into our own limitations by feeding the 5,000 (and then 4,000 more).

Christmas feels different for everyone. For some it is a time filled with joy, love, and family, and for others it is a season of grief, memories, and loneliness. But Jesus is ready to meet you wherever you are, just as he did the woman in Nain in Luke 7:11-17. That's the setting for the next miracle in our Christmas series, as we see firsthand the miracles God wants to work through us in our own seasons of emptiness.
