Today, I invite you to join me on a fascinating journey along the road that connects Maturín to Carúpano in Venezuela. A winding route full of landscapes and, most strikingly, giant sculptures lining the roadside like cultural guardians of eastern Venezuela. Join me on this beautiful road trip. This trip was not just a journey on asphalt, it was a sensory and artistic experience. At every turn, we were surprised by monumental sculptures that elicited a "wow!" from the bottom of our hearts. It was our first time on this side of the country and we were amazed. These works, many of them created by regional artists, are a tribute to the identity, history, and nature of the state of Sucre and its surroundings. The driver who took us there was from Carúpano and gave us a tour full of stories and tales about the region. Here is a brief review of some of the sculptures that made a deep impression on us: El Nazareno de Caripito, a huge and beautiful sculpture with purple clothing and flowers of the same color adorning the central highway. Created by a regional sculptor whom I researched online and found some interesting information about, David Martínez is the creator of several of these beautiful works of art. I confess that even though I was careful to take photos and videos, it was impossible to take good photos because we were moving. When we arrived in Carúpano, we were greeted by the beautiful chapel of the Virgin Mary. It was made by the same sculptor. Unfortunately, we could only see it from the outside because we didn't have enough time to visit inside. This trip was more than just a drive: it was an outdoor art exhibition, a rolling museum that awakens pride, curiosity, and love for our roots. If you ever have the opportunity to travel this road, don't think twice. Stop, admire, take pictures... and let the art of eastern Venezuela speak to your soul. Acompáñenme en este bonito recorrido en automóvil. Este paseo no fue solo una travesía por asfalto, fue una experiencia sensorial y artística. A cada tramo, nos sorprendían esculturas monumentales que nos arrancaban un “¡wow!” desde el alma. Fue nuestra primera vez en este lado del país y quedamos maravillados. Estas obras, muchas de ellas realizadas por artistas regionales, son un homenaje a la identidad, la historia y la naturaleza del estado Sucre y sus alrededores. El chofer que nos trasladaba era de Carúpano y se encargó de darnos una visita llena de historias y cuentos de la región. Aquí les comparto una reseña breve de algunas de estas esculturas que nos impactaron profundamente: El Nazareno de Caripito, una enorme y bella escultura con su vestimenta violets y flores de color violes que adornan la carretera central. Elaborada por un escultor regional al que investigué en internet y me encontré con una información interesante, es que David Martínez es el creador de varias de estas bellas obras de arte. Confieso que por más que estaba atenta por tomar fotos y videos, se me hizo cosi imposible tomar buenas fotos ya que ibamos en movimiento. Al llegar a Carúpano nos recibió la hermosa capilla de la virgen. Hecha por el mismo escultor. Lamentablemente solamente pudimos verla desde afuera porque nos quedamos mucho tiempo como para ir a visitarla por dentro. Este viaje fue más que un paseo: fue una exposición artística al aire libre, un museo rodante que despierta orgullo, curiosidad y amor por nuestras raíces. Si alguna vez tienes la oportunidad de recorrer esta carretera, no lo pienses dos veces. Detente, admira, fotografía… y deja que el arte del oriente venezolano te hable al alma. To be honest, I had never tasted Afogatto coffee before, let alone with the Colombian flavor. My palate exploded with this delicious bitter taste combined with the sweetness of the mantecado ice cream. I was fascinated. In addition to the outdoor garden, the plants inside the cafeteria are located on beautiful wooden shelves, in vertical planters hanging on the wall, on the tables with small pots and even on the pandebono counter there are small plants that accompany the display. In this cafeteria they not only sell Colombian and Venezuelan gastronomic delicacies, you can also buy the same products frozen to prepare them at home, dough to prepare your own pandebono and Colombian coffee beans and ground coffee. I was very happy to receive what I ordered. The chicken stuffed potato and the Afogatto were delicious. My mom and daughter were also able to enjoy the menu, I even took some things to my sister who was at home. Para ser honesta, no había probado antes el café Afogatto, y menos con el sabor de Colombia. Mi paladar explotó con este delicioso sabor amargo combinado con el dulce del helado de mantecado. Quedé fascinada. A parte del jardín exterior, las plantas del interior de la cafetería están ubicadas en hermosas repisas de madera, en jardineras verticales que cuelgan en la pared,en las mesas con pequeñas macetas y hasta en el mostrador de los pandebono tienen plantitas que acompañan el exhibidor. En esta cafetería no solamente venden exquisiteces de la gastronomía colombiana y venezolana, también puedes adquirir los mismos productos congelados para prepararlos en casa, masa para preparar tus propios pandebono y el café colombiano en grano y molido. Me sentí muy feliz al recibir lo que ordené. La papa rellena de pollo y el Afogatto estaban deliciosos. Mi mamá y mi hija también pudieron disfrutar del menú, incluso le llevé algunas cosas a mi hermana que estaba en casa. Tuve que llevarme un tarro de crema de pistacho porque después de probar el café pistacho que pidió mi mamá, fue inevitable querer prepararlo en casa. Me encanto ese detalle especial de escribir a mano un mensaje motivacional en las bolsas donde empacan los pedidos para llevar. It has been a difficult process of adaptation to the outside environment (out of the incubator) but he is a strong baby and today I can tell you that he is doing very well and that in the medical check-up a week after discharge, he managed to gain weight and adapt very well. While we were in the hospital, 23 days of anguish, helplessness and desperation, the expenses for medicines, tests and medical supplies were exorbitant. Every day they were spent at a rate of 200$, and at one point the whole family's accounts were at zero. This led us to pass a statement through social networks to raise funds. Thanks to the wonderful artisan community, which I have always considered my family, an initiative was made to support me with these expenses. More than an economic support that I am infinitely grateful for, it was the impact that all those beautiful messages and prayers we received had on me and my family. They were loads of hope and faith that we would come out of this bad moment victorious. When I read them I felt accompanied. As I know what we like in this community, I will show you a nice detail I made for my son Angel Alfredo: a personalized rosary with DIY beads, which is in trend for baptisms and first communions. En esta oportunidad paso por aquí para agradecer a todos los miembros de la casa de artesanos por el apoyo que me dieron en el momento más difícil que una madre puede atravesar. Hoy mi bebé tiene 17 días de estar en casa con su familia. Ha sido un proceso difícil de adaptación al medio exterior (fuera de la incubadora) pero es un bebé fuerte y hoy puedo decirles que está muy bien y que en la revisión médica una semana después del alta, logró aumentar de peso y adaptarse de lo mejor. Mientras estuvimos en el hospital, 23 días de angustia, impotencia y desesperación, los gastos en medicamentos, análisis e insumos médicos fueron exorbitantes. Diario se gastaban a razón de 200$, que llegó un momento en el que las cuentas de toda la familia quedaron en cero. Esto nos llevó a pasar un comunicado por las redes sociales para recaudar fondos. Gracias a la maravillosa comunidad casa de artesanos, que siempre he considerado mi familia, se hizo una iniciativa para apoyarme con estos gastos. Más que un apoyo económico que agradezco infinitamente, fue el impacto que tuvo en mí y en mi familia todos esos hermosos mensajes y oraciones que recibimos. Eran cargas de esperanza y de fe de que saldríamos de ese mal momento victoriosos. Cuando los leía me sentía acompañada. Desde mi corazón de madre, hoy feliz por tener a mi bebé recuperandose en casa, les digo que no tengo palabras para agradecer a todos, moderadores y artesanos, incluso personas que no acostumbran a realizar manualidades hicieron su gran esfuerzo para mostrarnos su solidaridad. A todo mil gracias y que se les multiplique en mucha salud y bendiciones. Como yo sé lo que nos gusta en esta comunidad, les trigo un bonito detalle que hice para mi hijo Ángel Alfredo: Rosario personalizado con cuentas DIY, que está en tendencia para los bautizos y primeras comuniones. Les invito a ver el video para no perder detalle del proceso creativo. Materiales para las cuentas principales: 25 gramos de masa de porcelana fría Piedras para incrustar Alambre de bisutería Pinzas Pegamento blanco Resina Elaboración: Tomamos la masa de porcelana fría y vamos a darle el color que necesitamos. En este caso me gustaría combinar blanco y dorado así que mi masa será de color blanco. Estiramos la masa sobre un plástico en una superficie plana. En mi caso utilicé un cortador en forma de flor. Colocamos la piedra incrustada en el centro y a los lados unas argollas que haremos con el alambre de bisutería. Luego que están endurecidas las piezas, vamos a dar una capa de resina y dejamos secar por 8 horas al aire libre. Con estas piezas podremos comenzar a armar nuestro rosario personalizado.
