🎙 COME, FOLLOW ME MOMS May 4–10 | Numbers 11–14; 20–24; 27 Why Do We Want to Go Back to Egypt? Hey mamas, welcome back to Come, Follow Me Moms. Your weekly Come, Follow Me scripture study where we pull out the meat and potatoes and apply it to real mom life. This week… we are in Numbers. And I’m just going to say it… This one felt personal. Because the Israelites… They saw miracles. They were led by God. They had literal food falling from heaven. And still… They complained. They doubted. They wanted to go back. And I wrote in my scriptures: Why do the people want to return to Egypt? And then I paused… And thought… Why do I sometimes want to? Why do I want to go back to things that are familiar… even if they weren’t good? Why do I go back to old patterns, old thoughts, old ways… just because they’re comfortable? This week is not about a journey across land. It’s about a journey of becoming. How often do we do this? We pray for something… God gives it to us… And then we complain about it. We pray for the job… we get it… and then we don’t like it. We pray for our kids… and then feel overwhelmed by them. Manna didn’t stop being a miracle… They just stopped seeing it that way. As Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught, gratitude is a way of life. “I Can’t Do This… It’s Too Heavy” Numbers 11:14 Moses says: “I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.” That is motherhood. This is too much. I can’t handle this. I feel alone. But God didn’t remove the responsibility. He gave Moses help. He sent the 70 elders. You were never meant to do motherhood alone. God sends support and He sends His Spirit. Personal Revelation Is Everything This part is everything for moms. From Russell M. Nelson: “I plead with you to increase your spiritual capacity to receive revelation… choose to do the spiritual work required to enjoy the gift of the Holy Ghost and hear the voice of the Spirit more frequently and more clearly.” Motherhood clarity does not come from social media, comparison, or pressure. It comes from revelation. Pray. Listen. Write down what comes. Act on it. You don’t need a louder world. You need clearer revelation. “Let’s Go Back to Egypt” Numbers 13–14 The Israelites are right next to the promised land… And they say, let’s go back. Egypt represents what is familiar. Even if it wasn’t better… it felt easier. Sometimes we want: Our old life Our old routine Our old body Our old identity But God didn’t call you backward. He called you forward. Egypt was familiar… But it wasn’t promised. 10 Spies vs 2 Spies Twelve spies go into the promised land. They all see the same thing. A beautiful land. God’s promises. And also… challenges. Ten spies say: We can’t do this. We’re not enough. Two spies, Joshua and Caleb, say: Yes it’s hard… but God is with us. We can do this. Same situation. Different perspective. This is motherhood. You can focus on the hard… Or you can see the growth, the purpose, and God’s hand in it. The difference wasn’t the land. It was how they saw it. Fear says: we’re not enough. Faith says: God is enough. The Brass Serpent — It Feels Too Simple Numbers 21 The people are bitten by serpents. They are suffering. They are dying. And God gives them a solution: Look… and be healed. That’s it. Look at the brass serpent and live. But some people didn’t look. Not because it didn’t work… But because it felt too simple. This is about Jesus Christ. Healing is available. Peace is available. Help is available. But sometimes we don’t look. We’re overwhelmed. We’re anxious. We’re struggling. And the invitation is simple: Turn to Christ. Pray. Remember Him. And we think… That’s not enough. But what if the answer you’re looking for… Is simple… And you’ve been overlooking it? They didn’t die because there wasn’t a cure. They died because they wouldn’t look. Meekness Is Strength Numbers 12:3 Moses was described as very meek. Meekness is not weakness. It is strength, restraint, and submission to God. Meek moms are not passive. They are Spirit-led. Grounded. Surrendered to God. COME, FOLLOW ME MOMS April 27 – May 3 Exodus 35–40 | Leviticus 1, 4, 16, 19 The Tabernacle, The Temple, Come, Follow Me Study “Holiness Is Built… One Small Step at a Time” Hey mamas, welcome back to Come, Follow Me Moms. This week we are in Exodus and Leviticus, and I’ll be honest… I started out thinking, “wow, this is kind of boring,” and it quickly turned into, “wait… this is actually so powerful.” This is one of those weeks where you might open your scriptures and think, “What is happening… and how does this apply to my life?” There are sacrifices, detailed laws, measurements, and instructions. And if you’re a busy mom, it’s easy to check out. But if you lean in just a little, this week becomes one of the most powerful lessons on how we come closer to God and how we actually become holy. Not in a perfection way, but in a real life, middle-of-motherhood kind of way. God brings His people out of Egypt, but getting them out wasn’t the end goal. He wanted to get Egypt out of them. He wanted to change their hearts. He wanted relationship. He wanted holiness. Leviticus 19:2 says, “Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy.” President Henry B. Eyring taught, “The plan of happiness is for everyone. Wickedness never was happiness” (General Conference, October 2019). When God gives commandments, it’s not to restrict us. It’s to lead us to happiness. To teach this, God gives His people the tabernacle. Everything about it is symbolic. Everything points to Jesus. Everything shows us how to come back to God. The tabernacle teaches progression. You don’t just walk into God’s presence. You move step by step. And this is key for us as moms. Holiness is built. It is not instant. The first step is sacrifice. The people bring offerings, not just because they’re told to, but with willing hearts. Exodus 36:5 says the people brought “much more than enough.” These are the same people who just made the golden calf, and now their hearts are changed. That is repentance. Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught, “God cares a lot more about who we are and who we are becoming than about who we once were” (“You Matter to Him,” General Conference, October 2011). So what are you offering God right now? Not perfectly, but willingly. Your time, your patience, your effort, your desire to try again. That counts. The next step is washing. This represents being made clean. Psalm 51:2 says, “Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.” Ezekiel 36:25 says, “Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean.” This is Jesus. We cannot become holy without being made clean first. One of the most powerful insights this week is the difference between saving grace and exalting grace. Saving grace rescues us. Exalting grace changes us. Exodus shows us being saved. Leviticus shows us becoming something new. Emily Belle Freeman taught, “Grace is not just the power that saves you… it is the power that changes you” (BYU Women’s Conference, 2015). Then we move forward into clothing and anointing. This represents identity. Isaiah 61:10 says, “He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation.” We are becoming someone new. One of my favorite lines from this week is this: living differently doesn’t mean we lower our standards or values. It means we rise. Eventually, the progression leads to the presence of God, the Holy of Holies. We don’t live there perfectly, but we are invited to move closer every day. Leviticus can feel intense with all the sacrifices and laws, but these rituals were meant to teach principles like repentance, holiness, and the Savior’s Atonement. Everything points to Jesus. And this is so real for us. Sin can creep in. It’s a slippery slope. It’s also easy to forget the Lord if we don’t take time. President Russell M. Nelson taught, “The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives” (“Joy and Spiritual Survival,” General Conference, October 2016). If we are not intentionally remembering Him, we will naturally drift. So we choose consistent remembrance of God. The Spirit brings a feeling of happiness and assurance that we are becoming more holy. That’s how we know. Not perfection, but peace. John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.” Leviticus teaches us the manner of access to God and the holiness that comes as a result of that access. Holiness is the result of being close to God, not the requirement before. Elder David A. Bednar taught, “We are not expected to be perfect… but we are expected to become better” (General Conference, April 2012). God holds us to a higher standard, not to shame us, but to refine us. The process is simple and powerful. Repent often. Be humble. Have meekness and patience. Doctrine and Covenants 122:7 reminds us, “All these things shall be for thy experience, and shall be for thy good.” Your hard days, your stretching days, your messy motherhood moments are part of your becoming. Like Job, we are invited to stand strong. “Gird up now thy loins like a man” (Job 38:3). Not perfectly, but faithfully. So here is your invitation this week. What do you feel impressed to do? Not everything. Just one thing. One prayer. One scripture. One moment of patience. One act of turning to Him. That is how holiness is built. One step at a time. Mamas, you are not behind. You are not failing. You are in the process. God is not asking for perfection. He is asking for your willing heart.

It’s about asking:   “How can I make space for God today?” Even if it’s: 5 quiet minutes A prayer in the car Turning off the noise   The Golden Calf (Exodus 32) “They have turned aside quickly…” (Exodus 32:8) After only 40 days… they forgot. And honestly?  It’s not just them… it’s us too. We’ve seen miracles: Prayers answered Strength we didn’t have Help on hard days …and still…  We drift  We forget  We numb out 💬 Emily Belle Freeman: “Don’t let the distraction of the world keep you from the direction of the Lord.”  Moses = A Type of Christ (Exodus 32–33) “Blot me… out of thy book…” (Exodus 32:32) Moses pleads for his people—just like Jesus pleads for us.   💬 Elder Jeffrey R. Holland: “You have not traveled beyond the reach of divine love.”    Prayer Changes Everything One of the most powerful moments this week was a simple prayer. A child praying for his mom… And heaven showing up.  Prayer invites strength  Prayer connects us  Prayer reminds us we are not alone    This Week’s Invitation: Pray for your kids Pray for your spouse Pray for a friend  Say it out loud  Write it down  Send it to someone    “Who Is on the Lord’s Side?” (Exodus 32:26)  Whose side are you on?  Who are you tethered to? This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about:   Who you are choosing    Idols in Our Lives  “Do you want a God in your life… or a calf that doesn’t care about you?” Modern idols: Money Shows Debt Distractions  They don’t care about you.  Truth: We often turn to things that: Numb us Distract us Drain us Instead of the God who:   fills us   💬 President Nelson: “In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the constant influence of the Holy Ghost.”    Grace (Exodus 33–34) “My presence shall go with thee…” (Exodus 33:14) “The Lord God, merciful and gracious…” (Exodus 34:6) Even after failure…  God stays  God forgives  God invites us back  Remember: Grace transforms Grace helps you become Grace heals and delivers   💬 Emily Belle Freeman: “Grace is not the light at the end of the tunnel. It is the light that moves us through the tunnel.”    Final Thoughts for Moms Mamas… You are not: Your worst moment The day you snapped The time you forgot You are the woman God is still calling up the mountain. They praised God immediately. But how often do we move on quickly and forget? What song are you singing in your life right now?   From miracles to murmuring (we’ve all been there 😅) Right after witnessing a miracle, the Israelites started complaining again. And if we’re honest… we do the same thing. This week is a powerful reminder to trust God not just in the miracle—but in the everyday moments too.   Daily manna = daily connection with God God gave them manna one day at a time. Why? So they would rely on Him daily. Not weekly Not when life slows down 👉 Daily Through: • Prayer Scripture Turning your heart to Him “Give us this day our daily bread.”   Jesus is your rock and your living water When the Israelites were desperate, God provided water from a rock. Jesus is: • Your stability when life feels shaky Your source when you feel empty He is what fills you when motherhood drains you.   You were never meant to do this alone When Moses’ hands got heavy, Aaron and Hur held them up. Such a powerful reminder: You are not meant to: • carry everything do everything be everything Sometimes you need support. Sometimes you are the support. We need each other.    A Personal Reminder There are seasons in life where you feel completely overwhelmed… weak… stretched beyond what you think you can handle. But God meets you there. He is with you always. And there is no shame in needing Him.    Questions to Reflect On This Week Where in your life do you feel trapped right now? Where do you need to stand still and trust God? Where is He asking you to move forward in faith? COME, FOLLOW ME MOMS April 6–12 | Exodus 7–13 “Remember This Day, in Which Ye Came Out from Egypt” Hey mamas, welcome back to another episode of Come Follow Me Moms, where we take the scriptures and break them down into the meat and potatoes so you can understand them, feel the Spirit, and apply them to your real mom life. This week we are in Exodus 7–13, and let me just say this… This is the week of the plagues AND the Passover. At first glance, this can feel like a lot. What is happening? Why all the destruction? Why is Pharaoh not listening? But when you really sit in it… This week is about three big things: soft hearts vs hard hearts God’s power and how Jesus Christ is the ONLY way we are set free And honestly… this one hits motherhood in a very real way. Because how many times do we see God show up feel prompted say we’re going to change …and then go right back to old patterns? Yep. Same. And how special that we just had Easter, General Conference, Passover, and even a solemn assembly all in the same weekend. A full weekend centered on Jesus. And now we get to understand where Passover began and why it matters so much. 🧱 The Story (Meat and Potatoes) Quick recap of Moses… He was born when baby boys were being killed. He was saved. Raised in Pharaoh’s house. Then he kills an Egyptian and has to flee. He becomes a shepherd. Sees the burning bush. Speaks with the Lord. And then God asks him to do something that feels impossible. Moses even says he’s not good with words. And yet… God still calls him. Then God sends plague after plague: water to blood frogs lice flies death of livestock boils hail locusts darkness and finally… death of the firstborn All to show: “I am the Lord” “There is none like me in all the earth” And Pharaoh? He asks for relief promises to change then hardens his heart again Over and over and over. This is the pride cycle. And eventually the 10th plague comes. But God provides a way to be spared. The Passover. ❤️ Principle 1: Hard Heart vs Soft Heart Pharaoh is the perfect example of a hard heart. Plague comes he suffers he asks for help God removes it and then… he goes right back Sound familiar? In mom life, it can look like this: “Okay God, if you help me with this, I’ll slow down” “I’ll be more patient” “I’ll stop yelling” And then things get better… …and we go right back. Not because we’re bad. Because we’re human. A hard heart looks like resisting God delaying change justifying behavior forgetting what God already did A soft heart looks like quick to listen willing to change humble remembering God Ask yourself this week: Where is my heart right now? Am I open? Or am I resisting something I know God has asked me to do? 🔥 Principle 2: God Gives So Many Chances The Lord gave Pharaoh so many chances. Not one plague. Ten. Why? Because God is patient. He warns before He corrects. He invites before He intervenes. And He does the same with us. In motherhood, it often sounds like gentle nudges: slow down be present apologize turn to me And sometimes… we don’t listen until things get hard. Think about a time when you felt prompted, ignored it, things got harder, and THEN you turned to God. We’ve all been there. 🐑 Principle 3: The Passover = Jesus Christ After all the chaos, God introduces something sacred. The Passover. The Israelites were told to: take a lamb without blemish put the blood on their doorposts stay inside eat the meal prepared And if they did… the destroyer would pass over them. This is all pointing to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Lamb. His blood is what saves us. Not our perfection not our effort not being a “good mom” Only Him. There was only ONE way to be saved. Not multiple options. Not “just try your best.” The blood of the lamb. And it’s the same today. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way out of spiritual captivity. 🏠 Principle 4: Apply It to Mom Life Mamas… we all have our Egypt. Things that keep us stuck: guilt overwhelm anger comparison perfectionism And so often we try to fix it ourselves. We try to be better try harder do more But freedom doesn’t come from effort alone. It comes from Christ. We are the people God set free by the Lamb. Let that sink in. 🧠 Principle 5: Remember God says, “Remember this day.” Why? Because we forget. We forget how God showed up last week. We forget the prayers He answered. We forget the strength He gave us. And when we forget… we go back to fear back to control back to stress So what would it look like this week to remember? Write it down say it out loud teach your kids look for His hand every day 🙌 Final Thought Mamas… This week is not just about plagues. It’s about choosing a soft heart recognizing God’s power and trusting the Lamb You are not meant to stay in Egypt. You are meant to be free. COME, FOLLOW ME MOMS March 30–April 5 “He Will Swallow Up Death in Victory” Easter Lesson | Scripture Study for LDS Moms INTRO Hey mamas, welcome back to another week of Come Follow Me Moms… This week is Easter AND General Conference. We get a double whammy. How special is that? I just love when Conference and Easter land on the same Sunday. It’s so fun getting to celebrate Easter with our kids and listen to the prophet at the same time. Yes, it may feel chaotic… but it’s our kind of chaos. And it’s beautiful. I used to get so frustrated when my littles wouldn’t sit still for hours of conference. I thought it had to look a certain way. But I’ve learned… if you can’t beat them, join them. Now we keep it simple. The kids pick out a Lego set to work on We have a little candy station with words they can listen for If they wander, it’s okay Playdough for the littles Coloring, puzzles, snacks We are teaching them where they are at. And guess what I can actually enjoy conference now too ✨ JESUS CHRIST IS THE CENTER So let’s talk about this week. Holy Week. And I want to start with this truth: 👉 Jesus Christ is the center of everything Not just church Not just scripture Not just Easter Sunday Everything Your life Your motherhood Your healing Your future The scriptures teach us that His life is central to all human history. Meaning… 👉 Every single person who has ever lived or ever will live is connected to Him Before Jesus came People looked forward to Him After Jesus came We look back to Him 👉 But we are all connected through Him 📖 Jacob 4:4 Ancient prophets believed in Him Trusted Him Had hope in Him 🫶 THEY WERE LOOKING FOR HIM Mamas… Sometimes we think the Old Testament is just stories. But it’s actually full of people waiting for Jesus. Hoping for Him Trusting Him Believing He would save them 📖 Isaiah 53:6 He took on the iniquity of us all Not some Not a few ALL That includes you On your hardest day When you lose your patience When you feel like you’re not enough 💔 WHAT HE ACTUALLY DID Let’s bring it back to Easter. Jesus didn’t just come to teach. 👉 He came to suffer 📖 Isaiah 53:4–5 📖 Alma 7:11–13 He took on: Pain Sickness Grief Temptation Sin Heartbreak 👉 There is NOTHING you are feeling that He has not already felt So when you feel overwhelmed in motherhood He understands When you feel alone He has already been there 🧠 MOM HEART CHECK Mamas… What are you carrying right now? Stress Comparison Exhaustion Guilt 👉 You don’t have to carry it alone Because He already carried it for you 🌅 THE VICTORY Now let’s talk about the best part. Because Easter is not just about suffering. 👉 It’s about victory 📖 1 Corinthians 15:22 In Christ shall all be made alive 📖 Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory Let that sink in. Death is not the end Hard things are not the end Your story is not over ✨ RESURRECTION IS FOR YOU Because of Jesus Christ: You can be forgiven You can be healed You can start again You can change 👉 Resurrection is not just something that happened to Jesus 👉 It is something available to YOU Every single day When you try again When you apologize When you choose patience When you turn back to God 👉 That is resurrection in your life 👩‍👧 TEACHING YOUR KIDS Mamas, let’s make this EASY this week. Come, Follow Me Moms Exodus 1–6 “I Have Remembered My Covenant” Hey mamas, welcome back to Come, Follow Me Moms, where we take the scriptures each week and break them down into the meat and potatoes so you can understand them, feel the Spirit, and apply them to real mom life. This week we are in Exodus 1–6, and I need you to hear this right from the start: 💗 God does not forget His people. Because if we’re being real… There are seasons where it feels like He has. When life is heavy When prayers feel unanswered When things actually get harder, not easier This week’s story is for you if you’ve ever felt that way. 📖 The Story (Meat and Potatoes) Let’s break it down simply. The Israelites are multiplying in Egypt. A new Pharaoh comes who does not know Joseph. He becomes afraid and puts them into bondage and slavery. He even orders that baby boys be killed. But God starts working… and He works through women. The midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, fear God more than man. Moses’s mom hides him. His sister stays close and watches over him. Pharaoh’s daughter shows compassion and raises him. Then Moses grows up, flees Egypt, and has an experience with God at the burning bush. God calls Moses to deliver Israel. And Moses responds in a way that probably feels familiar: “Who am I?” “I’m not good enough.” “I can’t do this.” And yet… he goes. Moses obeys. He goes to Pharaoh. And things actually get worse. The people are upset. Moses feels discouraged. And then God says: “I have remembered my covenant.” (Exodus 6:5)  The Purpose This is not just a story. It is a pattern. Bondage Crying out God calls Resistance Deliverance And here is the truth: God is working even when you cannot see it yet.  The Women Don’t skip this part. This is powerful. God did not just use Moses. He used women in quiet, brave, everyday ways. Midwives who chose God over fear A mother who trusted God with her baby A sister who stayed close and watched A woman who showed compassion and made a difference You do not have to be the main character to be part of God’s plan. You are shaping your home. You are raising leaders. You are part of something bigger than you can see. 🤍 Motherhood Connection This whole story is motherhood. Protecting your children Trusting God when things feel unsafe Doing small things that feel unseen One line that stood out so strong: “The same place that saved Joseph’s family… became the place of their affliction.” Sometimes the place that once felt like a blessing now feels heavy. And you find yourself asking: God… why am I here? 🙏 How God Shows Up God shows up in Exodus long before the big miracles. Through people Through small acts Through timing Through protection we don’t even recognize He was working before Moses ever saw the burning bush. And He is working in your life right now, even if nothing looks different yet. 📖 Powerhouse Verses Exodus 1:17 The midwives feared God This is reverence, trust, choosing God over the world Exodus 2:24 God remembered His covenant He did not forget. He never forgets Exodus 3:11 Who am I Moses doubted himself just like we do Exodus 3:12 Certainly I will be with thee That is the answer. Not that you are enough, but that God is with you Exodus 4:10–12 God does not remove weakness. He works through it Exodus 5 Sometimes obedience makes things harder before they get better Exodus 6:6–7 I will redeem you God delivers in His timing 🔥 The Refining In affliction, they grew. Growth does not happen in comfort. It happens in the hard seasons. God was not punishing Israel. He was preparing them. And He is doing the same for us. 💬 Personal Stories I shared how this podcast took me five years to start because I felt unqualified. God was patient with me. Moses did not feel ready either. And I love this real-life example from a friend: She shared that being willing to get pregnant again has been a huge act of faith. It has been scary, unknown, and she does not even have the ending yet. And that is faith. Faith is not knowing how it ends… and saying yes anyway. 🙋‍♀️ Questions to Reflect On Where in your life do you feel in bondage right now? Where does it feel like God is quiet? What is God asking you to do that feels too big? Come, Follow Me Moms March 16–22 Genesis 42–50 “God Meant It Unto Good” Hey mamas, welcome back to another week of Come, Follow Me Moms. I am Cassie, your scripture study companion, and I am so glad you are here. This week we are studying Genesis 42–50, and we are finishing the first book of the Bible. And man, it is a good one. As we finish Genesis this week, we are also finishing the story of Joseph. And honestly, this might be one of the most powerful stories in all of scripture. Joseph’s life had betrayal, prison, false accusations, family drama, famine, forgiveness, and redemption. And at the end of it all, Joseph says one of the most hopeful lines in the entire Bible: “Ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good.” Genesis 50:20 That is the theme for this week. Sometimes life feels like it is falling apart, but God is working a bigger story. But God. Before we dive in, let’s do a quick recap from last week so we are all fresh on what is going on. Joseph was Jacob’s son through Rachel, the wife he deeply loved. Rachel had Joseph, and later Benjamin. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, served in Potiphar’s house, was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife, interpreted the dreams of the butler and the baker in prison, and then eventually interpreted Pharaoh’s dream and rose to power in Egypt. Now we get to the part of the story where everything starts coming together. Joseph Is a Type of Christ When you look closely, Joseph’s life mirrors Jesus Christ in such powerful ways. Joseph was beloved by his father. Christ was the Beloved Son of God. Joseph was betrayed for silver by his brothers. Jesus was betrayed for silver by Judas. Joseph suffered unjustly but later saved his people from famine. Jesus suffered for our sins and saves us from spiritual death. Joseph preserved life. Jesus saves souls. Joseph even tells his brothers: “God sent me before you to preserve life.” Genesis 45:5 Just like Christ came to save us, Joseph was sent ahead to preserve and rescue. God Sends Deliverance Before the Trial One thing that stood out so strongly to me in this story is that God sends deliverance before the crisis even arrives. Joseph was sent to Egypt years before the famine came. At the time, it looked like tragedy. He was thrown into a pit. Sold into slavery. Thrown into prison. But years later we see the truth. God was preparing the rescue before the famine even began. Joseph was exactly where he needed to be, at exactly the right time, to save his family. And sometimes God is doing the same thing in our lives. What looks like hardship today may actually be preparation for something sacred tomorrow. You may be in a season right now that makes no sense. It may feel unfair, painful, lonely, or confusing. But God may be placing things in order that you cannot see yet. The Brothers Had Changed One of the most beautiful parts of this story is seeing how Joseph’s brothers changed. Years earlier, they had sold Joseph for money. But when Joseph tests them with Benjamin, something different happens. Judah steps forward and basically says, take me instead. Let Benjamin go home to his father. That is huge. The man who once helped sell his brother now offers to sacrifice himself for another brother. That is repentance. That is growth. That is a changed heart. The gospel really does change people. And I think that matters for us as moms because sometimes we look at people and think, they will never change. But God is in the business of softening hearts, reshaping souls, and making people new. Forgiveness Brings Healing Joseph had every reason to hold onto bitterness. His brothers betrayed him. He lost years with his family. He suffered deeply because of what they did. And yet Joseph forgives them. Not just with words, but with action. He feeds them. He protects them. He welcomes them. He saves them. Forgiveness does not erase the past, but it allows God to redeem the future. Joseph understood something powerful. Holding onto anger would not heal his family. Forgiveness would. That does not mean what happened was okay. It means Joseph chose to let God write a better ending than bitterness ever could. “But God” If I had to summarize Joseph’s life in two words, it would be this: But God. They betrayed him, but God had a plan. He was sold as a slave, but God raised him to power. He was falsely accused, but God preserved him. He was forgotten in prison, but God had not forgotten him. And in the end Joseph says: You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. That is the hope of the gospel. God can take broken pieces and turn them into redemption. God Is a God of Abundance Something else beautiful in this story is how Joseph cares for his family. He tells them not to worry about their stuff. He tells them to come to Egypt. He tells them he will take care of them and that they will have the best of the land. Joseph provides abundance. And that reflects the heart of God. Our God is not a God of scarcity. He is a God of provision, goodness, and abundance. He is a God who makes room. A God who feeds. A God who provides. A God who restores. The Reunion After more than twenty years, Jacob finally sees Joseph again. Jacob believed his son was dead. And then suddenly he hears: Joseph is alive. Can you even imagine that moment? The reunion. The joy. The tears. The shock. The gratitude. Joseph’s entire suffering suddenly has meaning in a new way. All of it led to this moment. Saving his family. What a reminder that God can bring things full circle in ways we never saw coming. God Can Turn Our Hard Things Into Good Joseph’s life reminds us that sometimes we do not understand what God is doing while we are in the middle of the trial. Joseph could not see the ending when he was in the pit. He could not see it in slavery. He could not see it in prison. But later he could look back and say: God meant it for good. That is faith. Trusting that even when life hurts, God is still writing the story. A Personal Thought One thing I want to share before we close this episode is something personal. As I studied Joseph’s story this week, it hit close to home for me. I have had a season in my life where I felt betrayed and hurt by someone really close to me. Someone I loved and trusted deeply. And if you have ever gone through something like that, you know how painful it can be. It shakes you. It breaks your heart a little. It can change relationships forever. I wish I could say my story ended exactly like Joseph’s, where everything was restored and everyone hugged and lived happily ever after. But sometimes healing takes time. And sometimes it takes both people. And sometimes people are only meant to be in our lives for a season. But here is what I realized as I studied Joseph this week. Even though that season was painful, I can look back now and see where God showed up. I came closer to Christ in that hard season than I ever had before. I learned things about forgiveness. About boundaries. About healing. About who I am in Christ. And because of that experience, I have now been able to help other people who are walking through similar pain. And that is when it hit me. But God. Joseph’s brothers betrayed him, but God used it. And I think many of us have “But God” moments in our own lives. So to any mama listening who has lost a relationship, maybe a best friend, a close family member, a parent, a neighbor, a friendship that broke, or someone you cannot trust anymore, this story of Joseph is for you. Because I have lived a small version of it. And it is hard. And sometimes it really does suck. But if you look around, you can also begin to see where God has been working. Look for Where God Showed Up Let me give you a little illustration. If I had a painting in front of you and I said, you have three seconds, look at this painting and memorize everything that is black, you would study every black detail. Then if I took the painting away and asked you what was pink in the painting, you probably would not remember. Because that is not what you were focusing on. Life can be like that. If we focus only on the hurt, the betrayal, the pain, and the disappointment, that is all we will see. But when we start looking for where God showed up, where He carried us, where He strengthened us, where He comforted us, where He grew us, suddenly we see something different. We see the good. We see the healing. We see the purpose. Just like Joseph did when he said: “You meant evil against me; but God meant it unto good.” Final Thought for Moms Mama, maybe you have some pit moments in your life. Moments where things feel unfair, painful, confusing, or heavy. Joseph’s story reminds us that God is still working. He can turn pain into purpose. Trials into testimony. Broken things into something good. Just like Joseph said: “You meant evil against me; but God meant it unto good.” Thank you so much for listening to this week’s episode of Come, Follow Me Moms. Come, Follow Me Moms Podcast March 9–15 | Genesis 37–41 The Lord Was With Joseph Hey mamas, welcome back to another episode of Come, Follow Me Moms, where we dig into the scriptures each week and pull out the meat and potatoes so you can understand the scriptures, feel the Spirit, and apply them to real mom life. This week for Come Follow Me we are studying Genesis 37–41, and the theme is one of my favorite phrases in the scriptures. The Lord was with Joseph. Here is the interesting thing. Joseph’s life was not easy. In fact, the more righteous he was, the harder things seemed to get. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers. He was sold into slavery. He was falsely accused. He was thrown into prison. He was forgotten by the people he helped. And yet the scriptures say something incredible over and over again. The Lord was with him. Not that the Lord prevented the trials. But that God stayed with him in the trials. I cannot stop thinking about that phrase. The Lord was with Joseph. In the hard season of his life. In the dirty walls of the prison cell. In the ditch his brothers threw him into. And then I started thinking something powerful. If God meets Joseph in the most unlikely places, He will meet us there too. I have believed that for years. God meets us in the dirt. He meets us in the mess. He meets us in the dark seasons of our life. He meets us on bathroom floors. He meets us in our cars. He meets us in places where we feel broken and alone. He might not take the trial away. But He will show up and walk through it with us. This lesson reminded me of the poem Footprints in the Sand. Growing up, that poem hung in our home. I continued the tradition and have it hanging in our home today. It is one of my favorites when I am feeling alone. The message is simple but powerful. In our darkest times, when we feel like we are walking alone, those are actually the moments when Christ is carrying us. You are never alone. God and Jesus never leave your side. When Doing the Right Thing Makes Life Harder One question the Come Follow Me manual asks this week is so important. Why do bad things happen even when we do the right thing? Joseph kept his covenants. But he was still abused by family. He was abandoned. He was falsely accused. Elder D. Todd Christofferson teaches something powerful about this in his talk “Our Relationship with God.” Sometimes we misunderstand the promises of God. Sometimes we think that if we obey, everything will work out exactly the way we planned. But that is not how God works. God is not a cosmic vending machine where we insert obedience and instantly get the blessing we ordered. Instead, God shapes our lives according to His wisdom and His timing. Joseph’s life is a perfect example of this. Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers. He worked faithfully in Potiphar’s house and rose in responsibility. But that progress was taken away because of false accusations from Potiphar’s wife. Joseph could have thought, “So prison is what I get for keeping the law of chastity.” Instead he continued to turn to God. And even in prison, the Lord prospered him. Eventually the Lord placed Joseph in a position of power next to Pharaoh, allowing him to save the house of Israel. Joseph truly lived the scripture that all things work together for good to them that love God. The Lord Was With Joseph One phrase appears over and over in Joseph’s story. Genesis 39:2 “The Lord was with Joseph.” God was with him when he was a slave. God was with him when he was falsely accused. God was with him when he was thrown into prison. God was with him when he was forgotten. One of the biggest lies Satan tells us is this. If God loved you, this would not be happening. But Joseph’s story shows us something different. God does not abandon us in hardship. He walks with us through it. Even in prison. Even in betrayal. Even in seasons of waiting. A Quick Recap of Joseph’s Story Joseph’s father Jacob, whose name was later changed to Israel, was the twin brother of Esau. Jacob received the birthright. Jacob worked seven years to marry Rachel, but he was deceived and given Leah instead. He worked another seven years for Rachel. Leah had many children, hoping Jacob would love her more. Rachel eventually had Joseph, making him deeply loved and favored by Jacob. Joseph received a coat of many colors and was clearly the favorite son. His brothers grew jealous. Joseph also had dreams showing that his brothers would one day bow down to him. This only made their anger worse. In Genesis 37, his brothers planned to kill him, but Reuben convinced them not to. Instead they threw him into a pit and eventually sold him as a slave. They dipped Joseph’s coat in blood and told their father Jacob that Joseph had died. Joseph was taken to Egypt and sold to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. Genesis 39 teaches that Joseph was loyal and trustworthy. Potiphar recognized that the Lord was with Joseph and that everything Joseph did prospered. But Potiphar’s wife tried to tempt Joseph to lie with her. Joseph refused. Embarrassed and angry, she lied and accused Joseph. Potiphar had Joseph thrown into prison. While in prison, Joseph met Pharaoh’s butler and baker. They each had dreams, and Joseph interpreted them. The butler would be restored to his position in three days. The baker would die in three days. The butler promised to remember Joseph, but after he was released, he forgot him. Years later Pharaoh had troubling dreams. No one could interpret them. Finally the butler remembered Joseph. Joseph was brought before Pharaoh. In Genesis 41:16 Joseph humbly said, “It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer.” Joseph explained that Pharaoh’s dreams meant seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Pharaoh trusted Joseph and placed him in authority over Egypt. Joseph became second only to Pharaoh. Joseph stored food during the years of plenty, preparing Egypt for the famine. He also married and had two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. All of this happened because God never left Joseph’s side. Joseph as a Type of Christ Joseph’s story also points us toward Jesus Christ. Joseph was betrayed by his own people. He was sold for silver. He was falsely accused. He suffered even though he was innocent. He eventually saved many lives. Just as Joseph saved people physically from famine, Jesus Christ saves us spiritually from sin and death. Fleeing Temptation One of the most powerful moments in Joseph’s story happens when Potiphar’s wife tries to tempt him. Joseph could have sinned and no one would have known. But Joseph said something powerful in Genesis 39:9. “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Joseph understood that sin is not just breaking a rule. It damages our relationship with God. Joseph did something very important. He ran. He literally fled from temptation. Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is simply walk away. The Story of Tamar In the middle of Joseph’s story we read about Tamar in Genesis 38. At first it can feel random, but it is actually very important. Judah, one of Joseph’s brothers, had three sons. Tamar married the oldest son, but he died. According to the customs of that time, she then married the second son, who also died. She was promised the third son when he grew older, but that promise was never fulfilled. Eventually Tamar took matters into her own hands and disguised herself. Judah later realized what had happened and said a powerful phrase. “She hath been more righteous than I.” Tamar remained loyal to the covenant family. She later gave birth to twins named Pharez and Zarah. From Pharez’s line would eventually come Jesus Christ. This story teaches something powerful. Even when situations look messy, broken, and complicated, God is still working through His covenant people. God can fix what seems unfixable. Many moms need to hear that today. Maybe your family feels messy. Maybe relationships feel broken. Maybe life feels complicated. God can still work through it. Revelation and Preparation Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams as seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Joseph wisely counseled Pharaoh to prepare during the years of plenty so they would survive the famine. This teaches an important principle. Sometimes God gives revelation not just for today, but to prepare us for the future. Joseph’s ability to listen to God and act on revelation saved nations. From Prison to the Palace One of the most remarkable moments in Joseph’s story is when he goes from prison to ruling Egypt. Genesis tells us Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh. Years of hardship. Years of waiting. Years of faithfulness. But God was preparing him the entire time. Sometimes what feels like a prison season is actually preparation for something bigger. Final Thought for Moms If you are in a hard season right now, Joseph’s story reminds us of something powerful. God may not always remove the trial. But He will never remove Himself from your life. He walks with you. In betrayal. In waiting. In hardship. Just like Joseph. The Lord was with him. And mama, the Lord is with you too. COME, FOLLOW ME MOMS Episode 10 March 2–8 | Genesis 24–33 “Let God Prevail”   Hey mamas  Welcome to Week 10 of Come, Follow Me Moms, where we take the weekly Come, Follow Me lesson and pull out the meat and potatoes. I’m your host, Cassie Moore, mom of five (with twins on the way!) and I am so grateful you are here. This week’s reading covers Genesis 24–33 Grab your scriptures, your AirPods, and your favorite drink and let’s dig in. Because this week? There is family drama. Sibling rivalry. Marriage stress. Jealousy. Infertility. Favoritism. Deception. Bitterness. Running away. Twenty years of hard work. And then… wrestling with God. But there is also love. Forgiveness. Covenant. Healing. And God remembering His people. If you’ve ever thought: Why is family so hard? Why is marriage so refining? Why are my kids so different? Why does God allow this tension? Genesis 24–33 says: You are not alone. And the thread through all of it is this:   Let God prevail.   Section 1: Covenant Marriage Matters (Genesis 24) Abraham sends his servant on a ten-camel journey to find a wife for Isaac. Not just any wife. Not a Canaanite. A covenant wife. This wasn’t about romance. It was about covenant. Rebekah wasn’t chosen because she was beautiful. She was chosen because she was kind. She offered to water ten camels. A single camel can drink around 30 gallons of water. That is WORK. She was generous. Quick to serve. Hospitable. Faithful. Marriage in the scriptures is never casual. It is sacred. Eternal. Covenant-centered. Letting God prevail in your marriage looks like: Choosing love Speaking gently Remembering why you covenanted Praying together Staying when it’s hard Covenant brings power. You don’t build a strong marriage by accident. You build it on purpose.   Section 2: Birthright vs. Pottage (Genesis 25) Esau trades his birthright for a bowl of stew. He was hungry. He wanted relief. He wanted something immediate. But birthright meant: Double inheritance Spiritual leadership Covenant promises Sometimes motherhood feels like: “I’m tired.” “Just give me comfort.” “Just give me escape.” But eternal things matter more than temporary relief. Where might we be trading: Patience for yelling? Connection for scrolling? Covenant priorities for convenience? This isn’t about guilt. It’s about awareness. Let God prevail means choosing eternal over immediate.   Section 3: Favoritism & Family Damage (Genesis 27) Isaac favored Esau. Rebekah favored Jacob. And the family fractured. Even covenant families are messy. Jacob deceives. Esau is furious. Jacob runs. But here’s the powerful part: God does not abandon Jacob. Your mistakes do not cancel God’s promises over your family. He works through imperfect people. He works through imperfect moms. He works through imperfect marriages.   Section 4: Jacob’s Ladder (Genesis 28) Jacob is alone. Afraid. Running. He lays his head on a rock — and heaven opens. A ladder from earth to heaven. Angels ascending and descending. The Lord standing above it. And God says: “I am with thee… I will not leave thee.” This is temple language. This is covenant language. Sometimes your kitchen table becomes your Bethel. Your minivan becomes holy ground. Your quiet prayer becomes your ladder to heaven. Covenants bring power. They bring perspective. They remind us who we are.   Section 5: Leah, Rachel & Real Family Pain (Genesis 29–30) This section is raw. Leah was not chosen. Rachel was barren. There was jealousy. Comparison. Heartbreak. And yet, we read: “God remembered Rachel.” God remembers. He remembers: The mom who feels unseen The wife who feels overlooked The woman waiting for prayers to be answered The one in a long season of comparison He remembers you. God works with imperfect families. Not perfect ones. Real ones.   Section 6: Twenty Years (Genesis 31) Jacob works for Laban for twenty years. Twenty years of: Labor Waiting Raising children Being treated unfairly Quiet faithfulness Sometimes motherhood feels like that. Long obedience. Unseen labor. Faithful repetition. God sees long seasons. Let God prevail in the ordinary years, not just the dramatic moments.   Section 7: Wrestling with God (Genesis 32) This is the turning point. Jacob prepares to face Esau. He is afraid. He prays. And then he wrestles all night. He says: “I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.” And God changes his name to Israel. “Let God prevail.” Jacob’s life changed when he stopped grabbing blessings and started surrendering. Letting God prevail does not mean: Life is easy Family is perfect Marriage is painless It means: God gets the final say. Not fear. Not pride. Not jealousy. Not control. Section 8: Healing Family (Genesis 33) Jacob expects revenge. Esau runs to him  and embraces him. Forgiveness. Healing. Restoration. Is there someone in your life you need to soften toward? Let God prevail in your relationships. Closing Thoughts “The greatest joys and the greatest sorrows we experience are in family relationships.” – Gordon B. Hinckley Family refines us. And the question He asked Sarah is the question He asks us: “Is any thing too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14) Not — Is motherhood too hard? Not — Is this season too hard? But — Is anything too hard for Him? This week we talk about: Waiting faith Leaving faith Sacrificing faith Mountain-climbing faith Faith under pressure Faith that looks forward Faith that says, “Yes, Lord. I believe.” Is anything too hard for you? Yes. Is anything too hard for Jesus? No. Sarah, When Promises Feel Delayed Three holy men promise Sarah a son. Abraham was 100 years old. Sarah laughed. But here is the powerful truth: God didn’t cancel the promise because she laughed. Genesis 21:1 says: “And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken.” He visited her. He fulfilled it. Not early. Not late. On time. God works on His time. Not emotional times. Not panic times. Not comparison times. Maybe you are waiting for: A child to come back to church Healing in your marriage Confidence A financial breakthrough Consistency in scripture study Healing in your health Children for your family to grow Faith doesn’t rush God. Faith trusts His timing. Hagar, God Meets Us in the Wilderness Hagar’s story is powerful doctrine. Sarah sends her away. She wanders in the wilderness with Ishmael. They run out of water. She can’t watch her son die. And what happens? “God heard the voice of the lad.” “Fear not.” “God opened her eyes, and she saw a well.” (Genesis 21) God did not remove the wilderness. He provided a well. Sometimes we pray: “Take this away.” And God says: “I will provide in it.” What is your wilderness right now? Exhaustion Anxiety Postpartum Teen struggles Loneliness Financial stress Physical sickness Spiritual dryness God hears you. God sees you. God opens wells for you. I believe in a God who provides. I believe in a God who speaks to women just like men. I believe in a God who meets us where we are and as we are. Lot’s Wife — Don’t Look Back The angels literally grabbed Lot’s family and pulled them out. That is grace. Lot didn’t walk out perfectly. He was pulled out. But then: “But his wife looked back…” Elder Jeffrey R. Holland teaches she didn’t just glance — she longed. She missed what she was leaving. Faith is forward-facing. What are you looking back at? Your pre-child body? Your old life? Past mistakes? Regret? “Before kids…” “Before this season…” You can learn from the past. But you cannot live in it. The past can teach you. But the present frees you. And faith pulls you forward. Abraham & Isaac — The Mountain of Obedience Three days to Mount Moriah. Three days walking toward what felt like loss. Three days without knowing there would be a ram. Abraham built the altar before he saw the ram. Genesis 22:8: “God will provide himself a lamb.” Genesis 22:14: “Jehovah-jireh” — The Lord will provide. Sometimes God tests us to see what we will do. Do we submit to God’s will like Abraham? This story is a powerful similitude of Christ. As taught in Elder Jeffrey R. Holland’s General Conference talk, Behold the Lamb of God: Only begotten son Carried the wood Willing submission Father offering the son A lamb provided But here is the difference: Abraham was stopped. Heavenly Father was not. When Abraham raised the knife, heaven intervened. When Christ carried the cross, heaven did not stop it. Because that was the ram for us. The ram on Mount Moriah points to the Lamb of God — Jesus Christ. Faith Moves Mountains President Russell M. Nelson taught: “The Savior is never closer to you than when you are facing or climbing a mountain with faith.” Mountains are not abandonment. They are proximity. Abraham climbed. You are climbing. Your listeners are climbing. And the Savior is closer than you think.  What We Learn This Week 1️. God keeps promises in His timing. 2.  God meets us in the wilderness. 3.  God rescues us when we move forward in faith. 4.  God tests us to improve us. 5. God always provides — even if not until the altar is built. And most importantly: The ram on Mount Moriah points to the Lamb of God. Jesus Christ. I believe in a God who provides. I believe He hears the cry of the mother in the wilderness. I believe He remembers His covenant. I believe He multiplies blessings. I believe He provides the ram. And I believe He sent the Lamb. They prosper and become wealthy. Lot chooses the lush land near Sodom and Gomorrah. Abram takes the less desirable land. Lot is captured. Abram takes 318 trained men to rescue him. Melchizedek blesses Abram. God promises seed as numerous as the stars (Genesis 15:5). Sarah struggles with barrenness. Hagar bears Ishmael. At age 99, Abram’s name is changed to Abraham. Sarai becomes Sarah. The Abrahamic Covenant is renewed. Isaac is promised. So much covenant. So much grace. So much waiting.  Righteous Desire Is the Starting Point 📖 Abraham 1:2 “I sought for the blessings of the fathers… desiring to be a greater follower of righteousness.” Abraham did not start perfect. He started with desire. He came from: Dysfunction Idolatry Family trauma And yet he chose righteousness. 💛 For moms: Your background does not determine your covenant future. President Emily Belle Freeman reminds us that covenant is not about perfection,  it’s about walking with Christ. This is grace. Rescuing like Abraham rescued Lot. Trusting God with wealth (tithing). Choosing covenant over comfort. Being peacemakers. When teaching this with my children, the biggest takeaway was this: Abram and Lot didn’t fight. Abram let Lot choose first. Contention does not invite the Spirit. This week in our home, we are practicing being peacemakers. Where can you bless instead of compete? Rescue instead of criticize? Trust instead of control?  Big Takeaways for Moms Righteous desire matters. Covenant is relationship, not privilege. Jesus carries the covenant. Waiting does not mean forgotten. You are called to bless. God is never late. Closing Testimony Maybe the promise hasn’t come yet. But if you have Him… You already have your shield. You already have your reward. Waiting is not punishment. It is refinement. Sometimes we wait: A day A week A year A lifetime But He will come. Satan wants you to feel alone. Christ wants you to know He is with you. Enoch’s city so righteous it was taken up to heaven. This week, Zion is gone… but Noah stays. Why? Wasn’t Noah righteous too? Yes, but scripture teaches us that Noah’s family was the only righteous family left on the earth. Instead of removing them, God asked Noah to stay, build, and lead his family through the storm. Sometimes He strengthens us to stay inside them and lead our families through. 🛠️ Part 1: Noah Preached Repentance in a World That Didn’t Want It Noah wasn’t just an ark builder, he was a preacher. “Noah called upon the children of men that they should repent.” — Moses 8:20 But the people rejected him. “They hearkened not unto his words.” — Moses 8:20 Scripture describes Noah’s world as: Corrupt (Genesis 6:12) Filled with violence (Genesis 6:13) Rejecting God’s voice (Moses 8:24) Sound familiar? ✨ Modern-day connection: Just like Noah, we have a living prophet today. God still warns before the flood, invites before destruction, and leads through prophets because He loves us. 🛟 Part 2: Following the Prophet Is Spiritual Safety “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” — Genesis 6:22 Noah didn’t obey partially. He obeyed completely. As Allen D. Haynie taught: “A perfect and loving Father in Heaven has chosen the pattern of revealing truth to His children through a prophet.” — General Conference, April 2023 🩷 Motherhood application: Prophets aren’t sent to scare us, they’re sent to protect families. Listening today may look like: Simplifying family life Protecting what enters our homes Prioritizing covenants Centering Christ daily That’s not restriction that’s refuge. 🕰️ Good, Better, Best (Choosing Obedience in a Busy World) In Dallin H. Oaks’s talk Good, Better, Best (Oct 2007), he reminds parents that overscheduling and busyness can crowd out what matters most. “Some uses of time are better, and others are best.” 🩷 Motherhood takeaway: Obedience often looks like: Choosing better over busy Saying no to good things to protect sacred ones Preserving time for prayer, scripture, and family connection Sometimes the most obedient thing we do is slow down. 🔨 Part 3: God Makes Ark Builders Out of Weakness Noah wasn’t a shipbuilder and God didn’t ask for a résumé. “Make thee an ark of gopher wood.” — Genesis 6:14 No explanation. No blueprint in the scriptures. Just trust. 🩷 Reflection for moms: What have you done that once felt impossible? Motherhood Unexpected trials Strength you didn’t know you had God takes women who say “I could never do that” and turns them into women who do with Him. 🚪 Part 4: The Ark Was Hard… But It Was Safe “And Noah and his sons… went into the ark.” — Genesis 7:7 They were there almost a year—crowded, loud, smelly, exhausting. “And the Lord shut him in.” — Genesis 7:16 Noah didn’t shut the door. God did. 🩷 Motherhood truth: Boundaries can feel tight. Obedience can feel inconvenient. But the ark even when hard was the safest place on earth. 🌊 Part 5: The Flood Was Mercy, Not Cruelty “The earth also was corrupt before God.” — Genesis 6:11 Wickedness had reached a point where agency and righteousness couldn’t flourish. God preserved humanity by preserving one righteous family. 🩷 Motherhood lens: Love sometimes looks like: Protection Removal Saying no Drawing lines That isn’t harsh. That’s holy. 🌈 Part 6: Rainbows, Covenants, and Remembering “I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant.” — Genesis 9:13 Rainbows remind us: God keeps His promises Storms don’t last forever Covenants anchor us 👩‍👧 Teaching kids: What helps us remember Jesus? What helps our family feel close to God? 🧱 Part 7: Babel vs. Zion, Two Ways to Reach Heaven “Let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven.” — Genesis 11:4 The people of Babel wanted heaven without God. “Therefore is the name of it called Babel.” — Genesis 11:9 Contrast that with Zion: “They were of one heart and one mind.” — Moses 7:18 As Jeffrey R. Holland taught in Broken Things to Mend (April 2006): “Broken things need mending and we cannot mend ourselves.” 🩷 Motherhood application: We don’t reach heaven by stacking bricks. We reach heaven by kneeling. 🩷 Closing: Grace Still Finds Families “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” — Moses 8:27 Grace didn’t stop the storm. Grace prepared Noah before it came. But more importantly: Zion is not just a city. It is a condition of the heart and spirit. The Lord teaches: Doctrine and Covenants 97:21 “Zion is the pure in heart.” That means: Zion is not perfection Zion is not a Pinterest home Zion is not quiet kids or perfect routines ✨ Zion is who we are becoming. 📖 What Happens in Moses 7? (Quick Overview) 1. Enoch Preaches Repentance (Moses 7:1–16) Enoch is called to preach to a very wicked people. At first, they reject him but many humble themselves, repent, and turn to God. We learn: Zion begins with repentance Hearts change before societies change 2. Zion Is Established (Moses 7:17–21) As the people repent, something remarkable happens: They become of one heart and one mind There is no contention, pride, or inequality There is deep unity and love Zion is not just a place… it’s a people. 3. Jesus Christ Is the King of Zion (Moses 7:53) Enoch sees Jesus Christ and learns that Christ is the King of Zion. This teaches us: Zion only works when Christ leads Unity flows from Christ-centered hearts 4. God Weeps for His Children (Moses 7:28–40) One of the most tender moments in all of scripture. Enoch sees God weeping over: Violence Wickedness Suffering Lost potential This reveals: God is not distant God feels with us God loves His children deeply 5. Enoch Weeps Too… but God Gives Hope (Moses 7:41–69) Enoch sees: The Flood Future wickedness The coming of Jesus Christ The Restoration The Second Coming Even in sorrow, God gives hope: Christ will come Redemption is real Zion will return God’s work will succeed 💛 Zion Is People (Friendship & Pregnancy Story) This week includes a personal story from a recent girls’ trip sharing how powerful it was to be surrounded by friends who were genuinely happy for each other. There was: No judgment No comparison No jealousy Just love, joy, and celebration This verse from Moses 7 describes it perfectly: Moses 7:18 “And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind…” One heart → no jealousy One mind → no comparison Dwelling in righteousness → choosing love and kindness ✨ That is Zion. And it is seriously the best feeling. 🚫 Stop the Comparison (Strong Mom Moment) As moms, it’s so easy to compare what we’re doing with what others are doing. So let’s say it clearly: STOP IT. Why? Comparison does not lead to happiness Judgment does not create peace Zion cannot exist where comparison lives We revisit Moses 7:18 and learn: You cannot be of one heart and one mind if you are constantly comparing yourself to other women. This section also references Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf and his powerful reminder from “The Merciful Obtain Mercy”: When it comes to judging others—STOP IT. Judgment divides. Mercy builds Zion. 👑 Jesus Christ Is the King of Zion (Moses 7:53) This verse invites an important question for moms: What does it mean to have Jesus Christ as your King? Does it: Change how you parent? Soften how you respond? Release some pressure? ✨ When Jesus is King, we don’t have to be. 😭 God Weeps (A Tender Truth for Moms) In Moses 7:28–30, we learn something sacred: God weeps. God sees: Our effort Our exhaustion Our heartbreak He weeps with us. This section includes a conference tie-in from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, reminding us that God’s love is: Personal Emotional Near 🌅 Jesus Will Come Again… Are We Ready? (Moses 7:59–67) Jesus promises He will come again. So what does it look like to get ready as a mom? Open the scriptures The Bible or the Book of Mormon And just start ✨ You aren’t late. ✨ You are right on time. ✨ One verse a day is better than none. God loves effort. 👨‍👩‍👧 Teaching Zion to Our Kids A simple family activity shared in this episode: Sing “Follow the Prophet” (Enoch verse) Read Moses 7:18 Make a paper heart Cut it into pieces Hide it around the house Let the kids search for it Why? Zion is one heart, one mind, one purpose. 🏡 Building Zion Starts at Home Zion: Starts in hearts Grows in homes Is unity and shared purpose Is people If your home feels loud, messy, or far from Zion that’s okay. God is a God of progression. Every day we try. And when we fall, He picks us back up. 🤍 Final Thought: Zion Is People What would it be like to have dinner with Enoch? What would you ask him? What might he ask you? Zion does not mean perfect. Zion is people choosing connection over contention. God’s whole work is people. Jesus’ whole work is people. Right here.   Genesis 5 may look like a boring list at first: Adam → Seth → Enos → Cainan → Mahalaleel → Jared → Enoch But God doesn’t waste chapters  and He doesn’t waste seasons. “Just because a season feels quiet doesn’t mean God isn’t working.” I remember a season in my own life when everything felt easy. Health was good. Relationships were good. Finances were good. Life felt calm. What I didn’t realize at the time? God wasn’t leaving me alone ; He was preparing me for what was coming next.   God Does Not Waste You President Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught: “The Lord uses the unlikely to accomplish the impossible. He uses the humble to accomplish the magnificent. God does not waste time, and He does not waste His children.” (“You Matter to Him,” October 2011 General Conference) Quiet seasons are forming seasons.   What’s Happening in These Chapters Genesis 5 A genealogy from Adam to Noah Generations matter Faith is passed down quietly, daily, over time Moses 6 Expands the story Introduces Enoch in detail Shows how God calls imperfect people Introduces repentance, covenant, baptism, and the Holy Ghost Mom takeaway: God works through families. Through generations. Through you.   🌱 God’s Timing & Motherhood Elder Jeffrey R. Holland taught: “Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until heaven—but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come.” (“An High Priest of Good Things to Come,” October 1999) This is motherhood in a nutshell: Waiting Stretching Trusting God’s timing   🌸 Created in the Image of God Genesis 5:1–2 (KJV) “Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam…” Why this matters: Male and female created in God’s likeness “Called their name Adam” → unity and partnership Motherhood is not secondary — it is divine and intentional You were created in the image of Heavenly Parents. Your nurturing, creating, loving heart reflects God. I even went on a little deep dive this week: The Hebrew word for God, Elohim, is grammatically plural — showing unity and oneness. Just like marriage. Just like family. Just like God’s design.   ✨ Theme: God Knows You by Name Moses 6:31 “Why is it that I have found favor in thy sight, and am but a lad…?” Enoch felt unqualified. God called him anyway. If you’ve ever thought: Why me? I’m not enough. Someone else could do this better. You are in very good company. God sees you: Changing diapers Packing lunches Saying tired prayers You are not invisible to Him.   🌿 When You Feel Unqualified I want to gently invite you to listen to Elder Holland’s talk “Lord, I Believe” (April 2013). It carried me through my own faith crisis, and it’s my go-to when I feel weak or unqualified. One powerful reminder from that talk: “Except for Jesus, there have been no flawless performances on this earthly journey.” Imperfect people are all God has ever had to work with — and He does incredible things through them.   🚶‍♀️ Walking With God Is the Goal Moses 6:33–34 “Therefore walk with me.” God doesn’t say: ❌ Figure it all out ❌ Be perfect He says: ✔ Walk with Me For moms, walking with God looks like: Messy prayers Scripture on in the background Worship music in the car Texting a friend because their name popped into your mind Walking with God isn’t escaping real life — It’s inviting Him into it.   🌱 Repentance Is Progress Moses 6:27 “Go forth and say unto this people, Repent…” Repentance is: Loving Hopeful Forward-moving In motherhood, repentance looks like: Apologizing Resetting Trying again tomorrow Letting Christ help you grow You’re not behind.  Come, Follow Me Moms January 19–25 | Genesis 3–4 · Moses 4–5 The Fall Was Not a Failure... It Was the Beginning Welcome to another week of Come, Follow Me Moms. I’m so glad you’re here. This is your weekly space to study the scriptures without pressure, connect them to real mom life, and feel the Spirit meet you right where you are. This week we’re studying Genesis 3–4 (the Bible) and Moses 4–5 (Pearl of Great Price). While these accounts are similar, the Book of Moses gives us deeper insight into why the Fall mattered and how it fits into God’s loving plan for us as mothers. ✨ Episode Overview At first glance, the Fall of Adam and Eve can feel tragic. But this week’s lesson reframes everything: The Fall was not a mistake. It was necessary so growth, agency, families, repentance, motherhood, and joy could exist. This episode explores: Why God allowed the Fall How agency applies to motherhood Why opposition doesn’t mean you’re failing How Jesus Christ was the plan from the very beginning Why God runs toward us with grace—not shame   Mom Life Connection: “God Is Not the Dress Code Police” I share a story from my time as a substitute teacher at a charter school with strict dress code rules and how often kids try to hide when they’re “out of compliance.” So many of us treat God the same way. We hide. We avoid Him. We assume He’s waiting to mark us off for our mistakes. But that’s not who God is. God is not checking boxes. He is inviting hearts. He gave us agency because He wants us to choose Him—not fear Him.   The Big Message This Week The Fall Was Not a Failure ... It Was the Beginning The Fall made motherhood possible. Before the Fall: No children No growth No real choice After the Fall: Families Learning Agency Joy through experience   Pain does not mean failure. It means you are living mortal life the way God designed it. Key Teaching Moments 1️⃣ The Fall Made Motherhood Possible God knew Adam and Eve would partake and He allowed it. Just like us as mothers: We guide. We teach. But we don’t control every choice because growth requires agency. There is beauty in learning, even when it’s messy. 2️⃣ Opposition Is Evidence of Progress Satan didn’t show up until Adam and Eve chose growth. If you feel: Tired Stretched Unsure Those are not signs you’re failing. They’re signs you’re becoming. 3️⃣ Jesus Was the Plan from the Beginning Genesis 3:14–15 contains the first promise of Christ. Adam and Eve rejoiced after the Fall not because life was easy, but because hope was guaranteed. Their joy came from knowing: Jesus was already coming. 4️⃣ God Clothes Us When We Feel Exposed Adam and Eve tried to cover themselves with fig leaves. God lovingly clothed them with skins.  For moms: When you feel inadequate, ashamed, or exposed God doesn’t scold you. He covers you with grace. Even then, sacrifice preceded covering pointing us directly to Jesus Christ. 5️⃣ Sacrifice Is About the Heart Abel offered willingly. Cain offered resentfully. God doesn’t want burned out obedience. He wants willing hearts even when the offering feels small. 🧒 How to Teach This to Your Kids (Simple & Safe) “Adam and Eve chose learning instead of staying comfortable.” “Jesus helps us when we make mistakes.” “Hard things help us grow.” “We can always pray when we feel far from God.” “God knew families would be hard—and He planned help.” 👉 Ask your kids: “Can you think of a time something hard helped you grow?”   And make up Scenarios where kids can practice making mistakes or opportunities for growth and ask them if they think God won't love them anymore. Not when life is quiet. Not when you’ve “caught up.” Right where you are.   Moses 1:  Identity Before Assignment Moses 1 comes from Joseph Smith’s inspired translation of the Bible and records a powerful vision given to Moses before he returns to Egypt to lead Israel. Before Moses does anything big… God reminds him who he is. “And he saw God face to face, and he talked with him…” (Moses 1:2) Moses is transfigured so he can endure God’s presence teaching us that God strengthens those He calls. “Behold, thou art my son…” (Moses 1:4) Why This Matters to Moms Before God asks anything of Moses, He reminds him of his identity. And God wants you to know who you are too. You are a daughter of God before the to-do list, before the chaos, before the calling. “Man Is Nothing”  What Moses Is Really Learning “Now, for this cause I know that man is nothing…” (Moses 1:10) This isn’t about worthlessness. It’s about dependence on God. As moms, we often feel pressure to do everything alone. Moses teaches us: Weakness doesn’t disqualify you It qualifies you to rely on God God makes weak things strong. Moses vs. Satan  You Have More Power Than You Think In Moses 1:13–16, Moses confronts Satan and refuses to be deceived. “For behold, I am a son of God…” Moses recognizes truth because he knows who he is. When Moses calls on God for help, he is strengthened and Satan is commanded to depart. Motherhood Application That power wasn’t just for Moses. You can call on heaven. You can pray out loud. You can ask for strength. You can tell Satan, “Get thee hence.” God is bigger than your fears. Bigger than your doubts. Bigger than the chaos. Moses 1:39  -  Motherhood Is God’s Work “For behold, this is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.” God’s work is people. Which means your work as a mom: Folding laundry Teaching kids Wiping tears Showing up on hard days Is holy work.   You are not distracted from God’s work. You are doing God’s work.   Abraham 3 : Your Children Are Not Random In Abraham 3, we learn about: Pre-earth life The eternal nature of spirits God’s divine plan “And God saw these souls that they were good…” (Abraham 3:22–23) Your children were known, loved, and seen by God before they came to you. You were chosen to be their mom not because you’re perfect, but because you are who they need. “Here Am I, Send Me” A Mother’s Prayer “Here am I, send me.” (Abraham 3:27) Motherhood often feels like sacrifice  and that’s okay. A powerful mindset shift for this season: “Here am I, God with what I have, where I am.” Meet me in the mess. Meet me in the chaos.
