Ep. 213 Isaac Acosta - A Crisis of Faith!

🎙️In this episode of Conversations with Buddy, I sit down with Isaac Acosta as he shares his honest and personal journey through seasons of questioning, growth, and reflection. 🙏Have you ever wrestled with faith, questioned what you believe, or found yourself searching for deeper clarity and understanding? ✝️Isaac opens up about different chapters of his life, including challenges he faced during his high school years, his experience with Crohn’s disease, and his journey with diet and health—including experimenting with a carnivore elimination diet. But this conversation goes far beyond physical health. Isaac also shares how his questions about faith and belief led him into a deeper process of exploration and self-discovery. 🙏As Isaac began asking difficult questions and examining his beliefs, he found himself exploring questions surrounding identity, knowledge, religion, and the role that beliefs and practices can play in our lives. Along the way, he discovered the value of humility—the willingness to listen, learn, honestly examine our assumptions, and remain open to growth.Ultimately, this is a conversation about faith, transformation, and the ongoing journey of seeking greater understanding. Isaac also shares the importance of honest conversations, supporting one another through seasons of questioning, and walking alongside those who may be exploring, reexamining, or deepening their faith. If you or someone you love has ever experienced uncertainty or questions surrounding faith, this episode offers an encouraging reminder that honest questions and meaningful conversations can be an important part of personal and spiritual growth.#Jesusfollower #faith #belief #Christianlife #conversationswithbuddy🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact. The Gospel is “good news”… The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4, “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. _ _ _About Buddy Puckett:Buddy Puckett has been in the mortgage and finance space and mentoring men for over 25 years.  A mentoring opportunity all started when he first began in the mortgage industry in 1998, when he began to mentor a younger guy who happened to be married.  This person was not making great choices and it was sadly affecting his marriage.  We all are 1 decision away from something really dumb, so accountability became something Buddy knew he needed as well.  Buddy’s wife, Shawn, suggested he start a podcast in 2022 to share the stories of people who have struggled, failed, overcame by realizing the life of love, joy and peace is only available through a relationship with Jesus Christ! “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Buddy Puckett NMLS #270057, Arizona BK#0018883, AZ LO-1032154; OR ML-176 For more licensing information, please visit www.guildmortgage.com/licensing. Ep. 212 Tim English (Part 2) - God’s interruptions!

🎙️ Tim English — Revive Me!In Part 2 of my conversation with Tim, we talk about what happens when we stop relying on self-effort and allow God to change us. We dive into Ephesians 4, godly sorrow, the Fruit of the Spirit, breaking old habits, and recognizing the patterns and tendencies that can keep us stuck. Sometimes revival starts with something as simple as apologizing to your wife and allowing God to change your heart. 🙏Tim and I also talk about marriage, including insights from How We Love and The Noble Marriage. We discuss memorizing Scripture, finding a life verse, and letting God’s Word transform the way we live. Psalm 40:1-3 has been especially meaningful to Tim—waiting on God, being lifted from the pit, and receiving a new song.Tim’s new album, “Revive Me!”, is a thematic collection inspired by Scripture and his journey with God. We talk about writing songs from the Psalms, trusting God, His amazing love, and the message behind the new song “Revive Me!” 🎶🔥And finally, we talk about something many of us struggle with: rest. Isaiah 30 reminds us that strength can be found in quietness and trust. Sometimes we need to slow down, stop striving, and give ourselves permission to rest. ❤️#Jesusfollower #faith #reviveme #christianmusic #revival #trustGod #conversationswithbuddy🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact. Ep. 211 Shawn Abbey - Life After 50!

Shawn joins me to talk about physical workouts, spiritual workouts, accountability, discipline, and living with no excuses. Hebrews 12:11 reminds us that discipline isn’t always enjoyable in the moment, but when we allow ourselves to be trained by it, it produces the peaceful fruit of righteousness. 🌱🎸 Work Hard, Have Fun & Build Great RelationshipsShawn’s journey is a great story of faith, family, entrepreneurship, and humility. From a stellar childhood and growing up in church to becoming a self-taught guitar player and launching Abbey’s Carpet Care in April of 1991, Shawn shares the lessons he’s learned along the way. 🎸🏡 His philosophy is simple: work hard, have fun, earn respect, and value your team! Competition can bring out the best in us, but the people we surround ourselves with can make all the difference. 👊🔥 Change Your Environment, Change Your LifeWe also talk about the importance of changing your diet, building multiple income streams, adding value, and putting yourself in an environment that produces discipline. Accountability matters! Sometimes the best thing we can do is stop making excuses and ask, “What’s next?” 🚀 Shawn also brings plenty of humor to the conversation—after all, sarcasm is his love language! 😂✨ Shine Your Light! Most importantly, this conversation is about people, faith, and making a difference. Relationship over rules. God loves people anyway. Ep. 209 Scott and Ruth Walker - House of Light - Salem!

Ruth & Scott Walker | House of Light 🏠✨What happens when two people decide to spend the rest of their lives serving God? 🙏 Sometimes, He leads you somewhere unexpected—and sometimes He simply asks you to leave room for a miracle. ✨Ruth and Scott met in Cambridge, England 🇬🇧. Ruth grew up in Kansas and California, while Scott grew up in Western and Eastern Washington. They’ve served on staff at several small churches and have learned that ministry isn’t always about a platform—it’s about people. ❤️Ruth worked at Bible Book House on Lana Avenue, then Rainbow West, and now they have their own store: House of Light. 🏠💡 Open just six months, it’s designed to be more than a store. It’s a place of encouragement, refuge, and reprieve for the body of Christ. 🙌They don’t have children of their own, but their home has always had room for extra people. ❤️ And that same heart of hospitality is now part of House of Light.Their message is powerful: God loves His children so much that He gave His life for them and carried their sin. ✝️ If God loves us that much, shouldn’t we love others with that same kind of love?We talk about brokenness, addiction, bondage, repentance, the battlefield we’re living in, and the power of God’s Word. 📖🔥 Sometimes we need to speak up—and sometimes we simply need to “close your mouth!” and let God work. 🙏Through it all, Ruth and Scott keep pointing back to one truth: Only the Lord! 🙌 By the grace of God. Through the power of His Spirit. The light of the Holy Spirit. 💡They’ve seen God make a way when there seemed to be no way. They’ve experienced miracles and moments when they could feel His presence. ✨Their prayer is simple: Keep the light burning. 🔥 God is going to make a way!🎙️ Join us for this powerful conversation with Ruth and Scott Walker of House of Light—and be reminded that God can take brokenness and turn it into a testimony.Know who you are in ME. ❤️✝️#Jesusfollower #disciple #grace #houseoflight #conversationswithbuddy🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact. Ep. 208 Sipili Tuigamala - God’s Grace: Living Proof!

Spil is a man who keeps it simple: he loves the Lord, loves his family, loves sports, and loves seeing other people win. At the heart of his story is a desire to serve and help others. His journey to faith and the people God has placed around him have taught him that strength isn’t just about what happens on the outside—it’s about the work God does in your heart. ❤️ Coming to America brought its own challenges and questions, including the deep question, “Where’s Dad at?” Those experiences taught Spil the importance of having the hard conversations, protecting his family, and keeping God at the center. His priorities are clear: God first, family, and respect. His faith and heritage have shaped who he is, but his relationship with Jesus has become the foundation for everything he does.Spil’s story also carries a powerful message of hope for anyone who feels broken or believes they have gone too far. “Come as you are.” “You’re not too far gone.” “Lord, change my heart.” He believes God can meet us at rock bottom, because sometimes rock bottom is where character is built and where God takes over. “God, it’s all You!”Above all, Spil is a protector, encourager, and servant to his family and those around him. His message is simple but powerful: Never quit. Finish strong. Celebrate the moments. Pick up your cross. Speak life. Tell people that God loves them. Because ultimately, Spil believes there is only one true way forward: God is the way, Jesus is the answer, and when we put Him at the center, He can transform even the most broken places into blessings.#Jesusfollower #disciple #onlyGod #jujitsu #conversationswithbuddy🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact. Ep. 207 Ken Belden - Life Happens… Don’t Fight Alone!

Ken grew up as a “PGK”—a preacher’s grandkid. His grandfather pastored Portland Foursquare Church for nearly 30 years, and Ken made his own decision to follow Jesus at just five years old. After graduating from Bible college in California, he spent nearly a decade in full-time ministry, convinced he knew exactly what God had planned for his life… until life took an unexpected turn.Divorce, family struggles, financial highs and lows, and years of hidden compromise challenged everything Ken thought he knew. Although he never walked away from his faith, he admits he often wrestled with surrender, trying to numb the pain instead of trusting God through it. His story is an honest reminder that even believers can lose their way without losing their faith.God wasn’t finished with Ken. Through careers in ministry, mortgages, business development, even a season at Costco, the Lord used every chapter to shape him. Then came an unexpected calling with Convoy of Hope, where serving others helped renew his purpose and reminded him that God often works through the seasons we never would have chosen.Today, Ken is married to his high school sweetheart, is a proud father of four adult children and grandfather of two, and has a deep passion for helping men who are trying to fight life’s battles alone. He believes the daily challenge is keeping Jesus at the center, fixing our eyes on Christ—the “Author and Perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2)—while surrounding ourselves with the right people and choosing surrender over self.In this conversation, Ken shares untold stories about ministry, divorce, restoration, Convoy of Hope, and how God used the storms of life to call him back. If you’ve ever wondered whether God can redeem broken chapters, or what He’s calling you to do with your time, treasure, and talents, this episode will encourage you to take the next faithful step—and simply do the next kind thing.Reach out to Ken at (503) 313-0120 or [email protected] learn more about Convoy of Hope, go to: http://convoyofhope.org/#Jesusfollower #disciple #golflover #convoyofhope #conversationswithbuddy🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact. Ep. 206 Tennison Shetler - Surrender to Jesus!

🎙️ Tennison is a singer-songwriter, worship leader, and storyteller originally from Silverton, Oregon. Since then, life has taken him all over the world—from years in vocational ministry and carpentry to releasing multiple albums of original music. Along the way, he even met his wife while serving in New York City during post-9/11 relief efforts, a story that beautifully reflects a life of faith in action. (Apple Music - Web Player)🎸 In this conversation, Tennison shares why following Jesus isn’t just a Sunday morning activity—it’s a lifestyle of surrender. From his time in YWAM Discipleship Training School, ministry, Jamaica, and worship leading, he explains how God often uses stepping stones, unexpected seasons, and even the death of our own dreams to shape us into who He created us to be.🎵 As a songwriter, Tennison believes lyrics matter. Every song begins with the message first, because great songwriting has the power to convey truth, challenge our thinking, and point people toward Jesus. We also dive into his musical influences, the creative process, and why marrying “a girl who sings” and having an artist for a wife has been one of God’s greatest blessings in his life.❤️ This episode is a powerful reminder to confront the hard questions, dig deeper into church history, and pursue authentic discipleship. Tennison’s passion for Jesus, music, and living a surrendered life shines through every story. In this episode of Conversations with Buddy, Michael shares the principles that have shaped his life, leadership, marriage, and parenting. Michael explains why the strongest leaders are humble, authentic, and courageous enough to remove the masks they wear. His message is simple but powerful: real men are brave enough to cry, ask for help, and live with honesty.Michael opens up about marriage, explaining that while it may not always get easier, it absolutely gets better when both people continue to show up for each other. Simply watching his parents faithfully support their family, those lessons became the foundation for the man he is today. The conversation also explores purpose, time, and personal growth. Michael discusses overcoming the feeling of falling behind, learning to stop trying to control everything, finding mentors, investing in coaching, and discovering his gifts! His challenge is clear: do hard things, double down on your strengths, and don’t be afraid to ask for guidance from people who have already walked the path. From training for a local Ironman to transforming leaders and raising a family, Michael’s story is one of intentional growth and unwavering commitment. If you’re looking for practical wisdom on leadership, relationships, purpose, and becoming the person you’re called to be, this episode will challenge you to stop waiting, make a decision, and take action today.Connect with Michael through Instagram @michaelallenclark or his website at: michaelallenclark.com#coach #committed #perserverance #doubledown #ironman #conversationswithbuddy🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact. Mayra’s story is one of purpose, growth, and building a legacy. As the Owner and Principal Broker of Rocha Realty LLC, she’s passionate about helping families achieve homeownership and create generational wealth. But beyond real estate, Mayra’s greatest role is being a mom to her two daughters, who inspire nearly every decision she makes. Throughout our conversation, she shared why the journey matters just as much as the destination, and how being the “CEO of your family” begins with knowing your values and your motives.Today, she and her husband also help operate Arialo Reforestation, a business whose name combines the first three letters of each of their daughters’ names—a meaningful reminder that family is at the center of everything they build. From starting a Christmas tree farm to teaching their girls responsibility through a summer vegetable stand, Mayra believes some of life’s greatest lessons are learned by working together and growing something that lasts. We discussed the power of surrounding yourself with the right people, giving yourself grace, staying focused on your values, and creating intentional strategic plans for both your business and your life. Great books like Atomic Habits and tools like DISC have helped shape her leadership and decision-making along the way.As we wrapped up, Mayra challenged listeners to think beyond today’s success and ask where they want to be 20 years from now. Instead of dwelling on obstacles, she encouraged us to celebrate the wins, keep learning, and never stop growing. Whether she’s serving clients, raising her daughters, or cultivating her garden, Mayra reminds us that the seeds we plant today can become the legacy we leave tomorrow. Her story is a powerful reminder that with purpose, perseverance, and the right people around you, the sky truly is the limit. To connect with Mayra, reach out through her socials and or website: - Facebook - @rocharealtyllc- https://www.rocharealty.net/#JesusFollower #faith #purpose #family #realestate #committed #perserverance #conversationswithbuddy🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact. Ep. 186 Nathan Pendleton - Saved by Grace Fueled by Faith!

On this episode of Conversations with Buddy, I had the honor of sitting down with Nathan Pendleton, a man whose story is marked by courage, perseverance, and deep faith. 🇺🇸💪 Nathan is an Army veteran, a father of two boys—including one with cerebral palsy—and above all, a disciple of Jesus Christ. Our connection came through our mutual friend Mike Peterson, and from the moment we started talking, it was clear that Nathan’s life has been shaped by both intense battles and incredible grace. Like many veterans, Nathan carries the heart of a protector, someone wired to stand in the gap for others. 🛡️❤️Nathan spent nearly 10 years as a missionary in Nicaragua, pouring his life into serving others and sharing the Gospel. Unfortunately, due to a complicated personal situation and ongoing legal battle, he was deported and cannot yet share all the details. Even in the middle of hardship, though, Nathan’s faith remains unshaken. His life verse, Proverbs 3:5–6, has guided him through uncertainty: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” That trust has carried him through seasons of pain, confusion, and the refining process that so many believers face. 🙏🔥Nathan also shared his passion for fitness, discipline, and mindset. As a performance-driven athlete, he believes discipline is the key—learning to say “no” to temporary satisfaction in order to pursue long-term purpose… pushing through injuries like a broken tailbone, or battling the mental and emotional challenges that come with PTSD, Nathan emphasized the importance of the internal dialogue we carry. Words are powerful. The question that changed his life was simple but profound: “Who does God say you are?” 💭✝️One of the most powerful moments in our conversation was when Nathan shared about his moment of salvation. Like the prodigal son, he came to the end of himself and cried out, “Forgive me Father… I’m all Yours.” Through the crushing seasons that humbled him to the core, Nathan discovered his true identity in Christ. He describes himself as “saved by grace and fueled by faith”. That transformation reshaped his life, his fatherhood, and his mission. ❤️🔥Today, Nathan is working on his real estate license to be a part of the Eric Beechy Real Estate Team, bringing that same servant-hearted mindset into real estate and lending relationships—especially when connecting with VA buyers and sellers. At the end of the day, Nathan’s story is about brotherhood, resilience, and faith—a “ride or die” commitment to Jesus and to the people God places in our lives. 💪🇺🇸🙏🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact.#JesusFollower 🙏 #Discipleship ✝️ #ArmyVet #rideordie #Proverbs3:5-6 #ConversationsWithBuddy 🎙️_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. Ep. 185 Justin and Emmy Arana - Where God met me in the dirt!

Justin and Emmy Arana join us to share about lifes challenges and how Acres of Hope began! Before we started recording, we paused and prayed 🙏—inviting God into every word of this conversation. At the center of Acres of Hope is genuine faith expressed through love ❤️ and kindness 🤍. Justin and Emmy talk about the seeds we plant in life 🌱—how every action, every response, every act of obedience matters. Some seeds are planted in seasons of joy, others in seasons of pain. But God has a plan for your pain. His plan is beautiful, even when we don’t understand it in the moment. They share how we can’t do this life alone—we need community, an inner circle that prays together and stays together. And we must guard our hearts against comparison, because comparison truly is the thief of joy.One of the most incredible parts of Acres of Hope is the role of horses 🐎. Horses reflect our emotions back to us. They sense fear, confidence, gentleness, and leadership. They demand authenticity. If you come in hard-hearted, they respond to that. If you come in with calm strength and kindness, they respond to that too. It’s powerful to see how God uses these beautiful animals to reveal what’s going on inside of us. Horses become mirrors—teaching leadership, patience, humility, and trust.Justin and Emmy remind us that we will make mistakes—but let’s not keep making the same ones. Growth requires humility. Healing requires honesty. And through it all, God shines His light ✨ into our darkest places. Ep. 184 Pastor Jason Bunse - God’s not done with me!

Meet your new Pastor of Canon Point Church in Salem, OR! 🙏In this powerful episode of Conversations with Buddy, I sat down with Jason Bunse to talk about a journey that only God could write. From designer drugs, alcohol, and running hard in the wrong direction… to standing behind a pulpit preaching the Gospel — Jason’s story is a testimony to the timing and fatherhood of God. What looked like chaos was actually divine pursuit. God wasn’t absent. He was patient.Jason shared the turning point — “I got caught.” The boys in blue. The moment where everything felt like it was over. Broken. Helpless. Chin checked by reality. But what felt like the end became the beginning. In that place of weakness, he picked up the Bible and started reading the Gospels. And when he encountered the words of Jesus — “Neither do I condemn you” — everything changed. We talked about discipleship, counting the cost, picking your friends wisely, and learning to hear the still small voice of God. Jason didn’t just have a moment; he had a transformation. From skid row to studying the Book of Acts. From coping with alcohol to carrying the name of Jesus. From overachiever in the streets to surrendered servant of Christ. The full counsel of God! This episode is a reminder that God is not done with you. He leaves the 99. He redeems the time. He answers prayers. And when He calls you to walk as a man and carry His name, it becomes a badge of honor. If you’ve ever thought, “It’s over,” this conversation will remind you — with God, it’s just getting started.Always point to Jesus! 🙏Click here and connect with Pastor Jason: https://[email protected]🙏 Subscribe to Conversations with Buddy for more conversations that inspire faith, leadership, and impact.#JesusFollower #Discipleship #Salvation #pastor #CanonPointChurch #ConversationsWithBuddy 🎙️_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. Ep. 183 John Werst (Part 2) - The Upward Call!

This episode with John was outstanding! He just got back from a trip to South Africa in partnership with the BetterMan group to help a ministry organization called “Church in hard places”. John’s heart is for ministry and specifically helping men through his own ministry, “Covenant Group Ministry”.  To help men create new habits, new life skills, recognize the call to brotherhood and how to learn to walk moment by moment by the Holy Spirit! What is the upward calling that God has for our lives on this earth? How do we live in the newness of a life in Christ and bury the old man?How do we know if we are drifting away from the Lord? These are the reasons why this episode is so powerful! Men coming alongside men, with the Word of God and the Spirit of God and allow Christ to change your life! 🙏This is what John calls… “voluntary accountability”!  It’s your choice if you will or won’t follow Jesus and be accountable to be a better man! Ep. 179 Miss Dany - Transparency creates intimacy!

Great podcast with Miss Dany on life and the lessons God desires to teach each one of us. 🙏She lost her dad when she was 22, and soon after surrendered everything she loved to God. She told Him He could take one thing or all of it—and He took everything except her life. That surrender taught her how to be still, to walk with God, and to trust Him with her heart and reputation 🤍🕊️.“Be still, and know that I am God.” - Psalm 46:10At 31, she lost her husband, her childhood sweetheart, and it crushed her. Then lost her job, car, and house, and nearly drowned in a rafting accident. God had plans for her and it changed how she spoke honestly with Him 💔➡️💛.Later, she asked God to choose her next husband because she couldn’t survive that kind of loss again… that marriage ended in betrayal and divorce, which has been deeply painful, yet the message God has given her about it has never changed—even though it hasn’t come to pass yet 🤍✨.In her final words… “No matter what, I give God my ‘yes’ every day. Even when I don’t understand, I choose love, obedience, and trust. I lead with Jesus, do life with people, and believe we are created to be extraordinary. My heart is full—God doubled my blessing, and He is always part of my conversation!” 💛🙏💖.To reach out to Miss Dany, to meet her and get to know her, you can reach her here: • 503.569.2449• [email protected]• https://www.missdany.com#Jesusfollower #MissDany #SayYES #conversationwithbuddy _ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. Ep. 176 Emily Scheuble - The Lord heard me and I heard I Him!

Emily has been shaped by a lifelong relationship with Christ, one that moved from inherited faith to deeply personal devotion. While she has been a Christian the majority of her life, it was at age 18 that she intentionally began pursuing her own relationship with the Lord. Anchored in Scriptures like Psalm 139, Emily rests in the truth that God knows her fully and intimately. In the quiet moments—when comfort gives way to obedience—her faith was sparked into something active and alive, marked by a steady resolve to keep pressing in and to ask the Lord, “What do You want me to do?”A central passion in Emily’s life is seeing people experience healing through the Lord. For the past 7-8 years, she has served faithfully on the Salem Alliance prayer team, believing deeply in the power of intercession and biblical community. She understands that we are built for community, and that healing often comes through the tangible hands and feet of Jesus—something she has personally experienced through her friends and family. Her life reflects a call to lead by example, embracing hard conversations, facing the music, and being willing to ask, “What was my part?” all while choosing to be the light of Jesus.Emily’s journey has not been without profound suffering. At just twenty-nine, she has walked through significant loss, including divorce and the death of her mother. Her mother’s diagnosis came at the same time her former husband chose to leave the marriage, a season marked by survival rather than thriving. Yet even in that valley, Emily sensed an undercurrent of the Lord’s peace—a quiet but steady assurance that God heard her prayers and was answering them, even if the answers came in unexpected ways. Through grief, she has learned not only how to suffer, but how to embrace healing and trust in God’s redeeming faithfulness.Today, Emily is remarried and a stepmom, learning firsthand the complexities and beauty of blended family life. She approaches marriage and family with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to growth, believing that comfort is never the place where true growth happens. Her story is one of obedience—choosing to step forward even when the path is unclear, trusting the Lord’s timing, and believing that there is always more beyond survival. “It’s time to thrive,” has become both a declaration and a testimony of God’s work in her life.Professionally, Emily is licensed and ordained within the Christian and Missionary Alliance and has served at Salem Alliance Church for the past two years. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in counseling, desiring to walk alongside others with wisdom, compassion, and truth. Her life stands as a doxology in motion—praise lived out through faithfulness, service, and trust in God’s ability to redeem every circumstance. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow… Her story ultimately points upward, declaring that even in loss, healing, and becoming, the Lord remains faithful.Reach out to Emily to hear more of her story and learn what resilience means. #Jesusfollower #Psalm139 #Heknowsme #conversationwithbuddy _ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org). Ep. 172 Josh Heneveld - Enough for today!

Josh has been married for 22 years, and the story with his wife stretches all the way back to when they met at church at age 10. God has blessed them with four amazing kids, and together they have stayed deeply involved in their church community. Josh shares about life, selling real estate,  buying businesses and stewarding ministry assets with excellence. At the end of the day, his ministry—both as a family and individually—is simple: help people figure out who God is, who they are, and how to walk in the fullness of their purpose.Learning the power of “Extreme Ownership”. Whether it’s leading at home, growing in faith, or building something in the business world, everything starts with taking responsibility. Being a great husband and father, who models the gospel, teaches victory over sin, and shows what it means to walk with a “perspective of faith.” Life after 40 has made this even clearer. Every day begins best with gratitude, acknowledging that God gives “enough for today,” and trusting Him with the rest. 🙏His marriage continues to be one of his greatest callings… learning to make more space for his wife—emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. Instead of focusing on demands, expectations, or needs, learning to take it all to the Lord first. The goal is simple: win your spouse daily. A better marriage isn’t found in wishing for change; it’s found in taking ownership, stopping the excuses, and choosing love on purpose.James 1:5 is a great reminder: “if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God”—so that’s become a regular habit. Whether leading his home, managing finances as a fiduciary, or discerning God’s agenda for the day, he’s learned to “double-click” on what matters: faith, humility, and obedience. Everything he wants to build—business, ministry, marriage, and legacy—flows from that posture before the Lord.To learn more about Josh and his businesses, go to:https://www.bargaincentersalem.com/https://www.appliancebargaincenter.com/https://premiumnwteam.com/To connect with Josh, you can email him at: [email protected]#Jesusfollower #disciple #bargaincenter #appliancebargaincenter #realestate #premiumnwteam #businessowner#conversationwithbuddy_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org). Ep. 170 Matt & Anna Maceira - Rescued for a purpose!

Matt and Anna Maceira’s story is one of radical redemption and relentless grace. Once trapped in the darkness of drug addiction and homelessness, they experienced firsthand the pain, chaos, and hopelessness that come from a life separated from God. But through it all, God never stopped pursuing them. His grace broke through the chains of addiction and despair, bringing freedom, healing, and restoration. Today, Matt and Anna are not only clean and sober—they are saved, sanctified, and walking in the purpose God always had for them. Their story is a living testimony that no one is too far gone for the love of Jesus Christ. 🙏2 Timothy 4:7 says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Paul wrote these words near the end of his life, confident in where he was going. His faith had been tested, but he remained steadfast. Like Paul, Matt and Anna have fought many battles and continue to run their race with endurance. The question for all of us becomes—when our time comes, will we be able to say the same? How do we, as believers, keep the faith and finish strong? For Matt and Anna, the answer lies in daily surrender—staying close to Jesus, walking in truth, and remembering that every victory is evidence of God’s faithfulness, not human strength. Many people today believe they are too far gone—that God could never forgive them or use them. But that is one of the enemy’s greatest lies. Matt and Anna are living proof that God never forgets His children. Even in their darkest moments, when they felt unworthy and unseen, God was there—pursuing, protecting, and preparing them for the ministry they now lead. Through Be Bold Street Ministry, they share the gospel with people who are still lost, still hurting, still believing the lie that they’re beyond redemption. Their message is simple yet powerful: “You are not forgotten. You are loved. And you can be free.”When Paul said he was being “poured out like a drink offering,” he was describing a life fully spent for the glory of God. That verse resonates deeply with Matt and Anna. They have given their lives to be poured out in service—feeding the hungry, praying for the broken, and declaring the name of Jesus across the Willamette Valley and around the world. They don’t claim to have a perfect marriage, but they have a great one, built on faith, grace, and intentional time together. They live as “Hope Dealers,” choosing every day to be bold in their faith and to live out the Great Commission: “go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,” (Mark 12:29, Matthew 28:19).The vision of Be Bold Street Ministry is clear: to reach the world, one soul at a time. Whether on the streets of Oregon or wherever God takes them, Matt and Anna bring the message of freedom and hope through Jesus Christ. They know spiritual warfare is real, but they stand anchored in God’s promises—especially in Galatians 5:22, which reminds us of the fruit of the Spirit, and 1 Corinthians 13, which calls us to love above all. When asked what keeps them committed, their answer is always the same: We were rescued for a purpose. Their lives now proclaim that purpose—to follow the One who saved them, to love boldly, and to never stop sharing the truth that Jesus still changes everything. To learn more about or connect with Matt and Anna, reach out through Facebook, Instagram or go to their website at: https://www.beboldstreetministries.org/#Jesusfollower #disciple #1Corinthians13 #rescuedforapurpose #HopeDealer#BeBoldStreetMinistry#conversationwithbuddy_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org). Ep. 169 Matt Williams - Every Time I Fall, He Finds Me. (Psalm 40:2)

I’m honored to sit down with my long-time friend, Matt Williams.  In this episode, we talk about success and failure, and what it truly means to walk with God in Christ.Matt shares what life was like growing up with his incredible parents, Terry and Debby, who modeled love, hard work, and perseverance.  Learning how to raise his kids with humility and love… to embrace his failures as lessons, and to truly live for Christ! Aren’t you glad we’re not defined by our past? Matt and I have both lived enough life to know that we all have stories—some we’d like to rewrite and others that show just how faithful God really is. 🙏Hebrews 12:1-2 reminds us to “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith”. That’s exactly what Matt has and is learning to do—through triumphs, trials, and everything in between.Matt has had his share of ups and downs—times of success and moments of failure, but the lesson is that God is always good! God does allow pain in our lives to keep us humble and to continue to seek Him as Lord and Savior! “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”  Gal. 2:20This verse is a great reminder that life is a journey from striving to surrender, from self-effort to Spirit-led living.#Jesusfollower #disciple #realestate#conversationwithbuddy_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org). Ep. 168 Nelson Adams - Grace in the journey!

Nelson joins Conversations with Buddy to talk life and marriage and share a story that’s both rugged and redemptive. Growing up in Scio, Oregon, Nelson’s early life looked like something out of a storybook — a three-story log cabin on five acres. But when his parents divorced, everything changed. He and his siblings found themselves without a home, living in tents on a friend’s property before settling into a run-down single-wide trailer in Marion, Oregon. Those early struggles shaped Nelson’s resilience and faith, even when life didn’t make sense. As one of five kids and homeschooled until high school, Nelson’s transition into public school was one of his hardest challenges. But it was through life’s bumps and bruises — both physical and spiritual — that he began to understand who God really is. Though he grew up in a Christian home and always believed in God, it wasn’t until age 30, after reading Frank Turek’s I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist, that Nelson’s faith became concrete and personal.A thrill-seeker by nature, Nelson poured his energy into extreme sports like BMX and snowboarding, collecting more than his share of injuries along the way — from concussions and fractures to a blown-out knee. These days, his passion is disc golf, though even that hasn’t been injury-free! But beyond the competition, Nelson finds joy in the simple, grounding moments — especially cooking for his family. He’s the chef of the house, preparing 90% of their meals with creativity and love.In this episode, we dig deep into themes like self-reflection, forgiveness, leaving the nest, and what it really means to live courageously. Nelson’s story is one of grace, grit, and gratitude — a reminder that God often uses the hardest chapters to reveal His greatest work. From living in tents to standing firm in faith, Nelson’s life is a living picture of what it means to walk in God’s purpose.“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”~ Ephesians 2:8–10 (NIV)#conversationswithbuddy #faithandresilience#graceinthejourney #Godshandiwork#courageousfaith_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org). Ep. 167 Terry Williams - Running the Race to the End!

Terry is a man whose life has been defined by faith, family, and a deep love for the game of basketball!  Being married to Debby for 52 years and having the opportunity to raise 3 kids, Matt, Joel and Allison, has been and is a huge blessing from the Lord!!! 🙏🙏🙏Known throughout the Keizer and Salem communities, Terry’s passion for God and the church has shaped everything he’s done — from the way he’s coached teams to the way he’s led his family. For more than 46 years, Terry poured his heart into coaching, impacting athletes at every level — from youth in the Keizer Youth Basketball Association (KYBA) to college players at Western Baptist (now Corban University). His leadership on and off the court reflected his core belief that purpose always trumps circumstance, and that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9–10).Over the years, Terry has been honored with several awards that reflect both his skill and his character — including being named Keizer’s First Citizen, receiving the Beacon Award from the Salem-Keizer School District, earning Corban’s Golden Alumni Award, and being named National Coach of the Year twice by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). But for Terry, the true reward isn’t in trophies or titles; it’s in seeing the young men and women he’s coached grow into leaders, parents, and people of faith. Some of his favorite memories come from championship seasons at Western Baptist, not just for the victories, but for the spiritual and personal growth that happened along the way.Over the past 20+ years, Terry has faced multiple health challenges, yet his joy and faith have only grown deeper. Many who know him marvel at how he continues to radiate peace and purpose despite the struggles. His strength comes from a steadfast trust in God’s promises — knowing that even in weakness, God’s grace is sufficient. His spiritual gifts of exhortation and compassion shine through in every conversation, every encouragement, and every prayer he offers for others. As Terry reflects on his life, he measures his legacy not in wins and losses, but in love and faithfulness. He hopes to be remembered as a godly husband, father, and grandfather who lived for Christ and poured into others with mercy and joy. His story is a testimony to Romans 3:23 — that while we all fall short, God’s grace redeems and restores. Whether coaching, mentoring, or simply walking through life’s challenges, Terry’s defining moments all point back to the same truth: God’s grace and mercy are all that we have! 🙏Thank you, Coach, for being on the podcast! 🙌#Jesusfollower #disciple #servant #coach #familyman #conversationswithbuddy_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org). Ep. 166 Fausto Ramos (Part 2) - Let go of the leash!

Fausto is a young man who embodies the principle of making the effort. He lives with intentionality — choosing every day to show up, serve others, and grow into the person God designed him to be. He understands that true freedom begins when we “let go of the leash” — the need to control, to hold onto pride, or to live by fear. In letting go, he makes space for faith to lead. His life is marked by compassion and awareness — always making a difference for that one, always looking for those whom God places in his path. When he says, “I see you,” he means it. His presence reminds people they are known, valued, and loved.Fausto lives with the conviction that mentoring never ends — it simply evolves. As the seasons of life change, so do the questions. He sees mentorship not as a duty, but as a calling — to guide others in discovering who they are, who God says they are, and who God has called them to be. Through his own journey, he’s learned that pride is the silent killer of relationships. To love deeply is to surrender the self, to listen more than you speak, and to forgive more than you’re comfortable with.Life has taught Fausto to run the race with endurance and humility, to check the bag and stop carrying the luggage that no longer serves God’s purpose. Forgiveness is the key — the choice between whether one walks in peace or drinks the poison of unforgiveness. His life mirrors the truth of Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.” In that stillness, Fausto has found clarity, courage, and the calm strength to live his calling. Stop by The REC out in Keizer and say hi to Fausto! #Jesusfollower #disciple #servanthood #conversationswithbuddy_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org). Ep. 165 Gregg Peterson - Speaking from the heart!

Gregg is a man who has lived with passion, vision, and a relentless work ethic. From a young age, he dreamed of owning a restaurant, and today that dream has become a reality with Independence Grill. For Gregg, it was never just about cooking food or running a business—it was about creating an atmosphere where people feel welcome, cared for, and valued. He has always believed in visualizing the life he wanted to live, and with determination, he stepped forward to make it happen. In many ways, Gregg is living the dream he once imagined as a child. But his journey has not been without challenges. Gregg knows firsthand what it means to be “guilty by association,” to face the sting of arrest, and to feel the weight of being called to the carpet by God. Like Paul on the road to Damascus, Gregg encountered moments where he could no longer hide from God’s truth and love. Those moments of conviction became turning points, reminding him that real change starts on the inside. Through prayer, humility, and faith, he renewed his relationship with Christ and found his true purpose. John 3:16 became more than a verse to him—it became the heartbeat of his testimony.“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” ~ John 3:16Gregg is not a man afraid to show emotion. He believes deeply that men do cry, and that real strength is found in honesty, humility, and dependence on God. He often prays, “God, what do you need me to do?” and lets that guide his decisions. His calling now extends beyond his restaurant, as he works with the Be Blac Foundation to inspire others.  He knows that without faith, life has no true purpose, and his desire is to take every opportunity to share that message.Leadership, to Gregg, is about serving others and seeing value in people. Whether through a kind word, a shared meal, or a heartfelt prayer, he seeks to remind others that God’s grace is real and available to all. His story is a powerful testimony of redemption, resilience, and renewal—a living example that change comes from within, and that with God, even the hardest seasons can be turned into opportunities for growth and purpose. To connect with Gregg or learn more, go to: https://beblacfoundation.org/#beblacfoundation #Biblebeliever #Jesusfollower #conversationswithbuddy_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org). Ep. 164 Tim Mumma - Don’t die without Jesus!

Tim is a man with a deep passion for both his hobbies and his faith. He has owned Kliever’s Abbey Carpet and Flooring, where he has always found joy in helping families make their homes beautiful.Outside of work, Tim is well known for raising and showing pigeons—he owns over 250 and travels across the country with them. He also has a love for classic cars, proudly driving a ’69 Camaro and a ’34 Ford, both of which are true showpieces. Family is central to Tim’s story; he has two daughters whom he had the honor of baptizing, and more recently, he celebrated as his grandson was baptized. His heritage also carries unique stories—his father coached legendary athletes Dusty Baker and Mark Spitz. In this conversation, Tim shared openly about faith, surrender, and transformation. Though he admits he doesn’t naturally like structure, he believes strongly that men need it—and that true change only comes when a man surrenders to God. Tim described how, in an instant, his heart was changed when he gave his life fully to Christ. He’s passionate about finishing well, reminding others that “God’s not done with me yet” and boldly declaring, “Give me Jesus.” He views life as a journey where the “death of man” is necessary for Christ to live through us, a message he carries with conviction.Whether talking about his pigeons, his cars, or his faith, Tim’s enthusiasm is contagious. He sees life as a work in progress, one where he is continually being shaped by God’s hand. His message is clear: only God can change a man’s heart, and when He does, everything is transformed. Tim’s story is one of passion, surrender, and hope—a man determined to live with purpose and to finish well.#GivemeJesus #finishwell #faithandfamily #passionandpurpose#Godsnotdonewithmeyet #conversationswithBuddy_ _ _For more stories like this, go to: https://www.youtube.com/@BuddyJamesPuckettIf you or someone you know want to be on the podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram @conversationswithbuddy or text me at 503-851-8031. “Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’.” John 14:6Guild Mortgage Company: Equal Housing Opportunity, NMLS #3274 (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org).
