27 Dead Children. 1 Conviction. The Case Atlanta Closed Without a Trial.
Atlanta called itself "the city too busy to hate." Then, between 1979 and 1981, at least 29 Black children and young adults were murdered — and the city's response became almost as controversial as the killings themselves. This episode follows the case from the first bodies found off Niskey Lake Road, through the mothers who forced a reluctant city to act, the fiber evidence that built a case with no fingerprints and no murder weapon, the night on the James Jackson Parkway Bridge, and the trial of Wayne Williams — a man convicted of two murders while 27 other cases were closed without ever going before a jury.📝 Want the deeper dive — case files, contested evidence, and everything that didn't fit in this episode? Pastor Caleb Flynn Accused of Murdering Wife and Making it Look Like a Burglary | Therapist Reacts
Pastor Caleb Flynn Accused of Murdering Wife and Making it Look Like a Burglary | Therapist ReactsA pastor and former American Idol contestant is accused of murdering his wife, Ashley Flynn, and staging the scene to look like a burglary gone wrong and in this episode of Criminal Motives, therapist Matthew Phifer breaks down newly released body cam footage from the night of the shooting in Tip City, Ohio. We revisit the frantic 911 call placed around 2:30 a.m., walk through what first responding officers observed inside the home (including suspicious entry points, an open vehicle console tied to where a firearm was allegedly kept, and the moments police checked on the couple’s two young daughters), and analyze Caleb Flynn’s behavior, emotional presentation, and repeated focus on “the girls” as officers secure the scene. The video also explores why police appeared skeptical early on, highlights inconsistencies raised by the timeline and Ashley being found shot in bed, and follows the case through Caleb’s voluntary DNA collection, his arrest, and his first court appearance where bond and no-contact conditions were set. Caleb was charged with murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence yet key questions remain about motive and the evidence that ultimately led investigators to charge him.Join my free Substack for exclusive case updates, court document insights, and bonus discussions: https://substack.com/@criminalmotives15% off Therapy with Betterhelp: http://betterhelp.com/mattphifer

Mayor Misty Roberts Found Guilty of Raping Son's Underaged Friend at Pool Party | Therapist Reacts
Former DeRidder, Louisiana mayor Misty Roberts became the center of a disturbing criminal case after allegations surfaced about misconduct involving a minor at a 2024 pool party an investigation that quickly unraveled into a web of witness testimony, reported text messages, and small-town power dynamics. In this episode of Criminal Motives, we walk through the timeline from the party and the community shock to Roberts’ resignation, arrest, and the legal twists that followed, including a mistrial and refiled charges, all while examining the uncomfortable role gender bias can play when the alleged victim is a teenage boy and the accused is a woman in a position of authority. We also break down how prosecutors build cases with corroborating evidence, why some survivors may never testify, and what experts say about the long-term impact of abuse regardless of who commits it.Join my free Substack for exclusive case updates, court document insights, and bonus discussions: https://substack.com/@criminalmotives15% off Therapy with Betterhelp: http://betterhelp.com/mattphifer

Kouri Richin’s Trial Update | Shocking Moments From The Opening Statement to Body Cam Footage
Kouri Richin’s Trial Update | Shocking Moments From The Opening Statement to Body Cam Footage Trial is underway in the Kouri Richins case and the courtroom has already delivered some of the most polarizing moments we’ve seen yet. In this episode of Criminal Motives, I’m breaking down the key highlights from opening statements to the body cam footage recorded the night Eric Richins died. We’ll walk through the prosecution’s theory that Kouri Richins poisoned her husband with fentanyl for money and a “fresh start,” including the state’s claims about overwhelming debt, life insurance policies, and messages with an alleged boyfriend. Then we’ll compare that narrative to the defense’s argument that the marriage wasn’t perfect, but Kouri is not a murderer, and that the “manner of death” remains undetermined. Finally, we’ll dig into the most talked-about evidence so far: the police body cam footage, including what Kouri told responders, how timelines were described, what stood out to first responders and family members, and why prosecutors believe the behavior after Eric’s death matters.⚠️ Trigger Warning: This video includes discussion of death, grief, betrayal, trauma, and domestic violence.Trial is underway in the Kouri Richins case and the courtroom has already delivered some of the most polarizing moments we’ve seen yet. Possible Motives Caleb Flynn Would Have to Murder Wife Ashley Flynn
Possible Motives Caleb Flynn Would Have to Murder Wife Ashley Flynn Ashley Flynn was a beloved mother, substitute teacher, and volleyball coach in Tip City, Ohio. Her husband, Caleb Flynn a former praise and worship pastor and American Idol contestant called 911 around 2:30 a.m., claiming a burglar broke in and shot his wife. But as the call unfolds, investigators and viewers alike notice details that don’t add up: the specificity about the shots, the lack of urgency to check on the children, and behavior that feels more like performance than panic.Police initially described the case as a “burglary gone wrong,” but the investigation shifted fast FBI involvement, a statement that the murder was “targeted,” and a claim that the public wasn’t in danger. Caleb Flynn was ultimately charged with murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence, with authorities alleging the scene was staged to mislead investigators. In this episode of Criminal Motives, I break down the 911 call, the inconsistencies, the staged burglary theory, and the most likely motives image protection, control, divorce avoidance, and the possibility of an affair through the lens of family violence dynamics and criminal behavior patterns.⚠️ Trigger Warning: Domestic ViolenceIf you need support, please reach out to a professional or someone you trust.📰 Join my free Substack for exclusive case updates, court document insights, and bonus discussions: https://substack.com/@criminalmotives15% off Therapy with Betterhelp: http://betterhelp.com/mattphifer

Did This DoorDasher Pepper a Food Order?
This Door Dasher was arrested for spraying a customer's food with pepper spray. Meet Courtney. Courtney says that she sprayed pepper spray because she saw a spider and got freaked out. And of course, people had a lot to say about it in the comment section. reading the notes. Extra spicy her when she got banned from Door Dash, banned. She needs to be arrested, which obviously in hindsight she was. Learn more about their investigation. Leslie, well, Jamie Rob, we now know that driver was arrested earlier this morning by the McCracken County Sheriff's Office. Authorities identified her as Courtney Stevenson of Keville, Kentucky near Paduca. Mark Carden sent us this video earlier this week. As we've previously reported, Carden and his wife decided to order Door Dash on December 7th when they eventually realized something was wrong with their food. Video from Mark's doorbell camera caught the suspect, later identified as Courtney Stevenson, spraying the food bag with pepper spray after dropping it off. Cardan told officials after eating the food, they both began feeling sick. This is instance was rather disturbing. Obviously, uh it's not something you see every day a Door Dash driver or a food delivery driver deliberately tampering with somebody's food. Um obviously the word got out pretty quick with the victims posting the video online. It gained a lot of attention even regionally and nationally. Police spoke to Stevenson and say she claimed she was spraying a spider and explained that she is terrified of them. Vanderberg County Sheriff's officials say they don't buy it. I am not an arachnid expert, but I I do know having been a southern Indiana resident for my entire life that spiders don't crawl around in the winter time. And the low that night was somewhere around 35°. Any spider would be warm inside at shelter and would not be uh crawling around on somebody's doorstep. And of course, people had a lot to say about this, especially after we've had multiple Door Dash incidents. And you know that saying that's like you can't eat at everybody's house. I feel the exact same way about delivery services. You do not know what the inside of that person's car looks like. You do not know what happens to your food in between them leaving the restaurant and you having the food physically in your hands. I I'm I'm I'm telling you, Door Dash drivers can be the most entitled, insensitive people you will ever meet. Y'all going to get enough of ordering Door Dash. You going to have to start getting in your car and going to pick up your own food. As tired as we are and as much as we don't be feeling like doing it, you going to have to start picking up your own food cuz these Door Dash delivery people ain't right. So, on one end, we have people saying that they are done with Door Dash and that they would rather pick up the food themselves. And on the other, we have people saying that these are just one-off incidents and that they don't have a problem with Door Dash at all. But what do you think? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.A DoorDash delivery took a disturbing turn when a driver was caught on camera spraying a customer’s food with pepper spray. The driver, later identified as Courtney Stevenson of Kevil, Kentucky, claimed she was trying to spray a spider—but investigators weren’t buying it.Video Credit:@izzyavh via TikTok@rhondatheinventor via [email protected] via TikTok
