Liberty Spenders™ - Why Growing Companies Break Without Alignment | Hassan Bash
Businesses rarely break because they lack systems. They break because leaders carry too much themselves, priorities compete for attention, and teams lose alignment. Hassan Bash joins Kurt and Kristen Luidhardt to explain why operational clarity starts long before SOPs, why accountability follows conviction, and how growing companies create bottlenecks when everything flows through the founder. The conversation explores how Hassan diagnoses operational breakdowns, maps customer journeys, builds standards inside organizations, and helps founders focus on the work that actually moves the business forward. Hassan also shares how growing up between American and Saudi cultures shaped his ability to navigate different perspectives, why caring for his mother at a young age developed empathy and responsibility, and how asking better questions changes the quality of decisions. For leaders who feel buried by complexity, this episode offers a practical framework for creating alignment before chasing the next opportunity. 0:00 Intro 06:04 Navigating Cross-Cultural Business Relationships 12:10 Diagnosing and Mapping Business Processes 17:03 Avoiding Overcomplication in Scalable Systems 22:15 Establishing High Standards for Clients 27:41 Overcoming Ego to Foster Growth 32:51 Early Responsibilities and Leadership Lessons 36:05 Lightning Round Resources Mentioned: Hassan Bash https://hassanbash.com/ Dale Carnegie https://www.dalecarnegie.com Tony Robbins https://www.tonyrobbins.com Learn more about your ad choices. New Books in Christian Studies - Brook Wilensky-Lanford, "A God-Shaped Nation: Five Hundred Years of Religion in America" (Atlantic Monthly Press, 2026)
Ever since conquistadores claimed Taino land in the name of their Catholic God and New England Puritans formed their strictly Protestant “city on a hill,” religion has been central to American life. Even as some found religious freedom—Rhode Island welcomed the Quakers, Jews, and Baptists that Massachusetts expelled as dissenters—indigenous people and Africans forced into slavery struggled to protect their religious practices. With the constitutional separation of church and state, it fell to the American people to decide: would they sharpen religion’s formidable powers of division, or reimagine its creative possibilities? In A God-Shaped Nation: Five Hundred Years of Religion in America (Atlantic Monthly Press, 2026) Brook Wilensky-Lanford follows this essential American tension from first contact through the 2024 election. This is an expansive history of extraordinary religious questions, told through the ordinary people who grappled with them. It is a story of defiance: Anne Hutchinson, preaching against Puritan clergy; Reform rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise serving soft-shell crab to his kosher guests at an 1883 banquet; and Wovoka, a Paiute man who envisioned the Ghost Dance movement, which persisted in the face of violent government repression at Wounded Knee. It is also a story of community: Millerites waiting together in vain for Jesus’s return on a rainy October night in 1844; Chinese immigrants bringing Daoist and Buddhist gods to their California temples; Mormons pushing westward to build their “new Zion” in Utah. And in the last fifty years, it has been a story of muscular political power, as the religious right has sought to shape the present and paint the past in its own image. At a moment when religion penetrates even the most secular aspects of American life, understanding its history is more essential than ever before. “It is in history that the very human work of religion happens,” Wilensky-Lanford shows us, “and in ordinary time that even the most carved-in-stone tenets can and do change.” Brook Wilensky-Lanford is a religion writer, editor, and teacher. The author of Paradise Lust: Searching for the Garden of Eden, a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, and former managing editor of Killing the Buddha, her work has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, The New Republic, and elsewhere. Currently the Associate Director of Sacred Writes Public Scholarship, she holds an MFA in Nonfiction Writing from Columbia University and a PhD in Religion in the Americas from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she lives. Liberty Spenders™ - Why Culture Fit Matters More Than Talent in Executive Hiring | Kip Knippel
A company can hire a proven executive and still end up with the wrong leader. Kip Knippel, president and CEO of KIP Search, joins Kurt Luidhardt to discuss why culture fit often matters more than talent when hiring senior leaders. A candidate can look perfect on paper, but if their values don't align with the organization, the costs can extend far beyond a bad hire. The conversation explores retained executive search, common hiring mistakes, and why the strongest candidates aren't always the right candidates. Kip shares the unlikely path that took him from law to commercial real estate to executive recruiting, what he learned from running for Minnesota state Senate while finishing law school, and why a lesson from endurance sports still shapes how he approaches business today. New Books in Christian Studies - Susanna Drake, "Veiling in the Late Antique World" (Cambridge UP, 2026)
Veiling meant many things to the ancients. On women, veils could signify virtue, beauty, piety, self-control, and status. On men, covering the head could signify piety or an emotion such as grief. Late Roman mosaics show people covering their hands with veils when receiving or giving something precious. They covered their altars, doorways, shrines, and temples; and many covered their heads when sacrificing to their gods. Early Christian intellectuals such as Origen and Gregory of Nyssa used these everyday practices of veiling to interpret sacred texts. These writers understood the divine as veiled, and the notion of a veiled spiritual truth informed their interpretation of the bible. Veiling in the Late Antique World (Cambridge UP, 2026) provides the first assessment of textual and material evidence for veiling in the late antique Mediterranean world. Susanna Drake here explores the relation between the social history of the veil and the intellectual history of the concept of truth as veiled/revealed. Kingdom Writers: A Podcast for Christian Writers o... - #469 Rooted
Rooted "This is what the Lord says: "Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. "But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit." Jeremiah 17:5-8 NLT Why plants & trees need water. Practice: Cultivate silence - creating quiet spaces for prayer, listening, stillness, meditation on God's Word is vital for deepening our roots, perhaps even more in our day and age than at any other time in history, due to the amount of sheer noise. Gratitude - a deeply rooted life overflows with thanksgiving. "Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness." Colossians 2:7 NLT As Kingdom Writers, these practices are nonnegotiable if the words we write are to be fruitful and life-giving. As our roots go down deep into the Living Water of Jesus, we will overflow with words that impact and refresh others. Christian Publishing Show - Can Catholic Authors Use AI?
About a year ago I launched a new podcast and YouTube show called Author Update. It is primarily a news show but recently we covered a news story I wanted to share with you here on the Christian Publishing Show. Pope Leo XIV recently published an encyclical titled MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS. It the the best theological breakdown I’ve seen on AI, and that means a lot coming from me because I’m not Catholic. I’m not aware of any authoritative stances on AI from either the Orthodox or Protestant churches, which means, if and when those do come out, they will be responding to and echoing the Pope’s Encyclical. If you have ever been curious about how, when, and why Christians can use AI I think you will find this breakdown helpful. But I want to share one other news story first that will help give some context. This story is about the Anti AI Butalrian Jihad that my cohost Jonathan Surger and I break down. Support the show

New Books in Christian Studies - William Stell, "Born Again Queer: A History of Evangelical Gay Activism and the Making of Antigay Christianity" (Princeton UP, 2026)
Evangelicals claim that their opposition to homosexuality is an inherent feature of their faith, rooted in their unchanging beliefs about the Bible. Most scholars, journalists, and observers have accepted this account; in Born Again Queer: A History of Evangelical Gay Activism and the Making of Antigay Christianity (Princeton UP, 2026) William Stell upends it. Arguing that the antigay majority in evangelicalism has been less dominant and more vulnerable than previously thought, Stell describes a network of authors, ministers, and professors—all veterans of major evangelical institutions—who worked in the 1970s and 1980s to persuade Christians that their churches should affirm the relationships and ministries of gay and lesbian members. By the late 1970s, some even thought that these activists might shape the future of evangelicalism.Of course, that speculation proved mistaken, and the antigay evangelical majority eventually overpowered the gay-affirming minority. Stell’s history of the rise and fall of evangelical gay activism shines a light on this largely forgotten chapter in American evangelicalism. Drawing on extensive archival research and interviews, Stell documents the work of four prominent activists: the founder of a predominantly LGBTQ+ denomination called the Metropolitan Community Churches, the leader of a gay advocacy organization called Evangelicals Concerned, and the evangelical feminist coauthors of the influential book Is the Homosexual My Neighbor? By recovering the successes of evangelical gay activists and the struggles of their opponents, Stell’s account transforms how we think about evangelicalism, how we talk about the culture wars, and how we approach both religion in queer movements and queer activism in religious movements. William Stell teaches in the Department of Religious Studies at New York University. This episode’s host, Jacob Barrett, is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Religion and Culture track. Liberty Spenders™ - How Founders Replace Hustle with Alignment | USCCC SWC 2026 | Part 1
Grinding harder shows up as progress…until it starts creating the very problems founders are trying to solve. Kurt and Kristen Luidhardt were on site at the U.S. Christian Chamber of Commerce SWC 2026 conference, talking with founders across the event, each one pointing to a different moment where effort stopped working and alignment had to take over. With Kristen behind the camera, enjoy these conversations with Kurt and learn valuable lessons: -Shae Bynes (Author of Grace over Grind & Grace Under Pressure / Board member, US Christian Chamber of Commerce) moved from constant pressure into a model where decisions come through partnership with God instead of personal strain. -Rich Mason (Founder, Alpha Kingdom Capital) calls founders to answer whether the business is the right assignment before they commit to building it. -Elaine Lankford (Founder, She Steps Forward Coaching) identifies the early breaking point where financial pressure and lack of confidence collide. -Jacob Dyke (Founder, Anchor Coaching) shows how growth stalls when founders keep holding onto the same responsibilities that got them started. Across each conversation, the pattern holds: Leaders who keep chasing activity lose control of what they’re building, but the ones who narrow focus and align decisions build something that can actually sustain pressure. Christian Parent, Crazy World - Mother's Day Inspiration: Life-Changing Lessons from the Moms of the Bible (w/ Rhonda Stoppe) - Ep. 183
What if the world measured motherhood, not by perfection or public acclaim, but by quiet courage, surrender, and faith? In this heartfelt Mother’s Day episode of Christian Parent Crazy World, Catherine invites celebrated author and mentor Rhonda Stoppe to lift the veil on the real stories of the moms of the Bible—fearless, flawed, faithful, and sometimes forgotten women whose lives still shape generations. Drawing from her acclaimed new book, Moms of the Bible: Life Changing Lessons from the Fearless, Flawed, and Faithful, Rhonda Stoppe brings wisdom honed by decades of ministry, parenting, and podcasting (Old Ladies Know Stuff). Together, Catherine and Rhonda Stoppe explore what it means to mother in a world obsessed with perfection, reminding listeners that God’s view of motherhood is radically different—and infinitely more freeing. What You’ll Discover in This Episode God Sees and Honors Moms—Even When No One Else DoesScripture overflows with stories of mothers just like you—women who wrestled, wept, waited, and worshiped as God unfolded His plans in unexpected ways. While culture often dismisses the daily work of mothering as mundane or menial, Catherine and Rhonda Stoppe reveal how the Bible places immense value on those unseen acts of love and faithfulness. From Mary’s Brave Surrender to Rebecca’s Mistakes Hear how Mary, the mother of Jesus, chose courageous “yes” in the face of misunderstanding and rejection, modeling trust in God’s unseen plans. Explore Rebecca’s story—a tale of good intentions gone awry as she tries to “help” God’s promises along, unleashing sibling rivalry and a generational legacy. Learn that God works through flawed, real women, not perfect ones, and that repentance and humility write a new story for us and our children. The Power and Danger of Partiality Rhonda Stoppe uncovers the lasting damage of favoritism in families, drawing from biblical narratives and honest reflections on her own upbringing. Listeners are encouraged to honestly assess their parenting, seek God’s agape love, and pursue forgiveness and restoration when favoritism has taken root. When You Feel like the Mom with No Name Sometimes, a mother’s extraordinary impact is never recognized by the world—or even, at times, by her own children. The story of David’s unnamed mother powerfully affirms the kingdom value of unseen, faithful work. “The influence of unnamed mothers has shaped nations, inspired leaders, nurtured artists and motivated ordinary children to accomplish extraordinary achievements.” – Rhonda Stoppe Real Talk: Healing from Deep Wounds In a moving post-interview segment, Rhonda Stoppe addresses the pain of those raised by abusive mothers through the biblical story of Herodias and her daughter, offering hope, the necessity of Christ-centered forgiveness, and the invitation to seek healing through biblical counseling. Why This Matters In a culture that honors mothers with a day, but often disenfranchises the work of motherhood, this episode re-centers the sacredness, complexity, and generational reach of a mother’s influence. Catherine and Rhonda Stoppe invite you to see your mothering through the eyes of God—full of purpose, dignity, and hope. About the Guest Rhonda Stoppe is a bestselling author, speaker, mom of four, and grandmother of fifteen. Known for her practical wisdom and biblical insight, Rhonda is host of the Old L

Liberty Spenders™ - Surviving Prison After the System Decides You’re Guilty | Jeff Martinovich
A 14-year sentence didn’t start the fight… It forced a new one. Kurt and Kristen Luidhardt sit down with Jeff Martinovich, who went from running a billion dollar wealth management firm to federal prison after cooperating with regulators during the financial crisis. By the time the case reached trial, public allegations had already collapsed the business and stripped away capital, reputation, and leverage. In prison, Jeff Martinovich rebuilt structure day by day. Law library in the morning. Physical training at night. Classic literature, scripture, prayer, and meditation filled the gaps. That routine became the only thing he could control when the system had already decided the outcome. What follows is how he endured it, and what he rebuilt (even better) on the other side. 0:00 Intro 06:45 The Black Swan Moment 11:54 Facing a 14-Year Sentence 18:21 Public Shaming Strategy 23:26 Courtroom Power Dynamics 29:41 Attorney Betrayal 34:57 Prison Survival and FOIA Discovery 40:03 Asset Protection Failures 46:52 Daily Survival Structure 51:50 The 1% Discipline System 59:33 Lightning Round Resources Mentioned: When Not If by Jeff Martinovich https://a.co/d/0j1y5iOw Jeff’s website: https://www.jeffmartinovich.com Ash Business Advisory https://www.ashbizadvisory.com/ Lifeforce https://www.mylifeforce.com/ Connect with Liberty Spenders™: • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/libertyspenders • Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/libertyspenders • LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/libertyspenders • Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/c-6192506 • YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXn-vzlA03r59neWZD0ofJA • X: https://x.com/LibertySpenders Connect with Kurt and Kristen Luidhardt: • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/luidhardts • Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/luidhardts • LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/luidhardts • Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@luidhardts • X: https://x.com/luidhardts Liberty Spenders™ Podcast Join Kurt and Kristen, founders of Liberty Spenders™ on a groundbreaking podcast that unveils the secrets to tapping into the immense potential of the faith-based conservative market. New Books in Christian Studies - Philip Abbott, "Sounds for a New World: The Christianizing Soundscapes of Late Antiquity" (Oxford UP, 2026)
In the Greco-Roman world, gods were known to tame soundscapes, or acoustic landscapes. Zeus, Apollo, Orpheus, and other Classical deities demonstrated their power by bringing order to chaotic sound worlds, replacing cacophony with harmony. In late antiquity, Christians took up this archetype and applied it to Jesus. For many early Christians, the advent of Christ resembled the modern phenomenon of a musical key change, but on a grand scale: Jesus initiated a recalibration of the cosmic soundscape, ushering in a new world. However, according to many Christians in late antiquity, this universal key change was not yet complete. Late ancient Christians believed that they could participate in the ongoing sonic work of Christ by Christianizing the acoustic landscapes of the world. In Sounds for a New World: The Christianizing Soundscapes of Late Antiquity (Oxford UP, 2026), Dr. Philip Abbott explores how late ancient Christians envisioned themselves as participants in the worldwide retuning effort, harmonizing the Classical world to the new Christian reality. Rejecting the sounds of traditional Greco-Roman and Persian cultures, Christians advocated a variety of sonic practices to realize their grand retuning endeavor, including shouting, singing, silent meditation, chanting, and even belching. From the Latin West to the Syriac East, late ancient Christians formed a polyphonous chorus of diverse voices all joining in the great harmonizing work of Jesus as they Christianized the soundscapes of the world. For years, scholars have noted the monumental changes that took place in early Christianity during the so-called Constantinian Revolution. But Dr. Abbott turns our attention to an unexplored aspect of this transitional moment, arguing that it was not simply a political or religious revolution - it was a revolution of the senses. Central to this sensorial transformation was sound. As Christianity gained imperial power in the fourth century, Christians began the process of re-tuning the world for Christ. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Pastor Writer: Conversations on Reading, Writing, ... - Matt Erickson — The Image of A Pastor
"We are not machines; we are living things. And the church is not a factory; it is a garden."What are the images that shape your ministry? For many leaders, the dominant metaphors are often corporate or industrial—efficiency, scale, and production. But as the cultural landscape shifts, many pastors are finding these images are no longer sufficient for the soul-work of the local church. In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Matt Erickson, Senior Pastor of Eastbrook Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Matt brings a unique blend of urban pastoral experience and a deep commitment to the Christian imagination. A graduate of the Eugene Peterson Center for Christian Imagination, Matt has spent years thinking through how the metaphors we use dictate the health of our leadership. We discuss his new book, The Pastor as Gardener: A Renewed Vision for Ministry (releasing at the end of March). Kingdom Writers: A Podcast for Christian Writers o... - #467 Lighted Path
Light for my path Psalm 119 is divided into 22 sections, which represent the 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet. "Nun" = 14th of 22 Hebrew letters. It signifies a "fish" (representing life/continuation) or a "faithful/bent-over servant," symbolizing humility and submission. (Joshua son of Nun) "Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." Psalms 119:105 "A Lamp for the next sentence" As Kingdom writers, we often want God to show us the whole story at once—the full outline, the perfect ending, the flawless draft. But this little verse reminds us that God usually gives light for the next step, not the entire road. A lamp doesn't flood the path with daylight. It reveals just enough to move forward safely. In the same way, God's Word may not reveal your entire book, message, or calling today—but it will illuminate your next paragraph, your next idea, your next faithful act of obedience. "For their command is a lamp and their instruction a light; their corrective discipline is the way to life." Proverbs 6:23 "Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet's own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God." 2 Peter 1:19-21 If we give God's Word daily attention, it will provide us with the direction, correction, and wisdom we need to be the best Kingdom writers we can be. We are humbling ourselves and acknowledging our need when we open God's Word. We won't find anything in the world that matches its substance and guidance. It's 'alive and active' as Hebrews 4:12 says, because the same God who spoke creation into being by His word is the same God who spoke the words in our Bibles. He's the same God who will empower our own written words that point to Him. Closing: God is not asking you to see the whole journey. He is asking you to trust Him with the next line. Christian Audiobooks - The Tradition - St. Bonaventure - On The Degrees of Ascension to God
After leaving the Parisian chair, Bonaventura retires in meditation on Mount Verna, to embark on a contemplative itinerary that leads him to God. The first stage of this journey is the contemplation of the creatures. Bonaventure shows the reader the degrees of the ascent to God, degrees that man can know and travel through the prayer. The physical world is described as a mirror and as a book through which it is possible to reach God: «He who is not brightened [illustratur] by such splendors of created things is blind; he who does not awake at such clamors is deaf; he who does not praise God on account of [ex] all these effects is mute; he who does not turn towards [advertit] the First Principle on account of such indications [indiciis] is stupid.»https://inters.org/Bonaventure-God-Vestiges-Universe
