Getting the decorations ready for a dear friend's birthday by D-rock [Esp]-[Eng] Hi, friends at Espavlog and Hive! I hope you're all doing great. This is a short little video, but it has a really sweet purpose, and it was totally worth it to see that person happy on their birthday. Today I want to share this with you and have you join me in planning a little decoration for a dear friend of mine. Her name is “Sarah”—to be honest, I don’t know why it ends with an “H” hahaha—but hey, to each their own. Don’t worry, I always tease her about it, though it’s a mystery I’ll always have. Ella cumplió años el 15 de abril pero se lo celebraron el 18, osea el fin de semana de esa semana, y su querida madre me pidió el favor a mí a qué la ayudará a resolver parte de la decoración y parte de unos juegos que íbamos a hacer ese día. Her birthday was on April 15, but we celebrated it on the 18th that is, over the weekend of that week—and her dear mother asked me to help her with some of the decorations and some of the games we were going to play that day. Fué un arduo trabajo no les voy a mentir, y solo tenía pocos días y poco tiempo para yo poder terminar toda la decoración y cosas que tenía que hacer, pero fué bonito, hace bastante tiempo que no hacía Manualidades y menos decorar un cumpleaños, yo sé que no fué la gran decoración pero de verdad me esforcé bastante para qué quedara bastante lindo y siento que así quedó. Tenía un presupuesto limitado pero la mamá de ella y yo, no nos dimos mala vida ya que todo era para un ratico, pero tampoco dejando la intención de la linda sorpresa. It was hard work I won’t lie to you and I only had a few days and very little time to finish all the decorations and everything else I had to do, but it was nice. It had been a long time since I’d done any crafts, let alone decorated for a birthday. I know it wasn’t the most elaborate setup, but I really tried my best to make it look nice, and I feel like it turned out that way. I had a limited budget, but her mom and I didn’t stress about it since it was all just for a little while, but we didn’t want to compromise on the nice surprise either. I made some posters with photos of her as a little girl for the photo shoot, party hats with her face on them, letters spelling out her name, numbers showing her age, and a few other little things I really liked. I’m here again today to share with you a wonderful experience I had recently at the graduation ceremony for one of my latest students in my stilt-walking classes. I’ve been a stilt instructor for almost a year now, and it’s been wonderful to share with different people their ways of learning this wonderful art—which, let me tell you, isn’t as easy as it sounds, but with discipline and a lot of perseverance, you can achieve great results. Siempre al final de que mis alumnos cumplen con ciertos requisitos estando en zancos, significa que ya están preparados para su graduación qué se realiza en la playa por su máxima dificultad con los obstáculos, sí se logra pasar todo eso es porque pueden con todo estando en zancos, he de añadir que esta graduación se realiza en la playa de san Luis que queda ubicada en la ciudad de cumaná estado sucre. Once my students have met certain requirements while on stilts, it means they are ready for their graduation ceremony, which takes place on the beach due to the high level of difficulty posed by the obstacles. If they manage to get through all of that, it’s because they can handle anything while on stilts. I should add that this graduation ceremony is held on San Luis Beach, located in the city of Cumaná, Sucre State. Mi querido alumno José, desde el día uno se presentó con grandes cualidades para ser un buen zanquero, solo le hacía falta pulir muchas de esas cosas y tener mucha más práctica para poder cumplir con ese resultado, tuvimos 3 meses de preparación, dónde le enseñe muchos trucos y técnica para poder enfrentar cualquier inconveniente que tuviera estando montado en zancos, pero aún asi me dió a demostrar lo que siempre supe, que sería muy bueno y cumplió está graduación con muchísimo éxito. My dear student José, from day one you showed great potential to become a skilled stilt walker; you just needed to refine many of those skills and get a lot more practice to achieve that result. We had three months of preparation, during which I taught him many tricks and techniques to handle any challenges he might face while on stilts. Even so, he proved what I always knew—that he would be very good and he passed this graduation with flying colors. El día de hoy les traigo un vídeo, de un pequeño ensayo para una de las presentaciones que tengo a final de mes, ya qué me llamaron nuevamente para participar en un número donde ya había bailado antes, este performance es parte del musical "Broadway" un musical presentado por una de las academias de canto de aquí de mi ciudad Cumaná- estado Sucre llamada "Germán Segura" pero donde vamos a presentar este genial baile es en otra muestra llamada "Homenajes" qué también la realiza está talentosa academia. Espavlog/ Join me for a rehearsal at the Luis Mariano Rivera Theater (Cumaná, Sucre State) by D-rock [Esp]-[Eng] I hope you're all doing great, friends of Espavlog and Hive! Today I'm sharing a video of a short rehearsal for one of the performances I have at the end of the month, since I was asked again to participate in a number I've danced in before. This performance is part of the musical “Broadway,” a production presented by one of the singing academies here in my city, Cumaná, in Sucre State, called “Germán Segura.” However, we’ll be performing this amazing dance at another show called “Homenajes,” which is also put on by this talented academy. La presentación será en uno de los teatros más icónicos de mi ciudad y la verdad en uno de los más reconocidos, llamado teatro "Luis mariano Rivera", Inaugurado en el año 1998, el teatro lleva el nombre de Luis Mariano Rivera, el célebre músico y poeta sucrense conocido por sus composiciones dedicadas a la naturaleza y a la vida campesina (como la famosa canción "Canchunchu Florido"). Su construcción fue un paso decisivo para dotar a la "Primogénita del Continente" de un espacio digno para las artes escénicas de alto nivel. Aquí no hay muchos teatros de esta magnitud, y la verdad es que ya me había presentado varias veces en él, y por eso quise mostrarles un poco de este hermoso lugar donde crecemos varias personas de esta ciudad llena de talentosos artistas. The performance will take place at one of the most iconic theaters in my cityand, to be honest, one of the most renowned called the “Luis Mariano Rivera” Theater, Opened in 1998, the theater is named after Luis Mariano Rivera, the celebrated musician and poet from Sucre known for his compositions dedicated to nature and rural life (such as the famous song “Canchunchu Florido”). Its construction was a decisive step toward providing the “Firstborn of the Continent” with a worthy venue for high-level performing arts. There aren’t many theaters of this magnitude here, and the truth is that I had already performed there several times, which is why I wanted to show you a little of this beautiful place where many of us from this city full of talented artists—have grown up. En esta nueva aventura les muestro a todos mi primera vez haciendo un pantalón de este estilo, he de aclarar que no soy un experto cosiendo y que tampoco este video es un tutorial, así que no me hago responsable de cualquier equivocación o daño a sus telas jajaja bromita, está máquina la tengo apenas desde diciembre y la comencé a usar en enero, he realizado pocas prendas sencillas, pero nunca algo cómo esto, pero exactamente para esto la compré, para realizar mis vestuarios de la danza y una que otra cosa. Cómo les digo, es mi primera vez haciendo algo así en mi máquina de coser, y estoy muy contento con el resultado final, que lo encontraran al final del video y al final de la publicación, debo de admitir que no fué para nada fácil hacer esta costura, y por eso decidí grabarla ya qué sabía que pasaría por mucho y por varios errores, pero eso es lo bueno de aprender algo nuevo, cometer varias caídas pero nunca rendirse, espero les guste mucho mi vídeo y mi experiencia haciendo este bonito pantalón. Espavlog/ I made my first pair of pants in this style on a D-rock sewing machine [Esp]-[Eng] ¡Hey there, Espavlog friends! In this new adventure, I’m showing you all my first attempt at making pants like these. I should point out that I’m no expert at sewing, and this video isn’t a tutorial, so I’m not responsible for any mistakes or damage to your fabrics hahaha, just kidding! I’ve only had this machine since December and started using it in January. I’ve made a few simple garments, but never anything like this. But that’s exactly why I bought it—to make my dance costumes and the occasional other thing. Like I said, it’s my first time making something like this on my sewing machine, and I’m really happy with the final result, which you’ll see at the end of the video and at the end of this post. I have to admit that this sewing project wasn’t easy at all, which is why I decided to film it I knew I’d go through a lot and make several mistakes, but that’s the beauty of learning something new: making plenty of mistakes but never giving up. Paso 1: sacar el patrón/ Step 1:trace the pattern Marcar el patron en la tela la verdad no tenía mucha ciencia o al menos eso parecía, yo me fuí guiando de varios vídeos de YouTube junto con mi mamá, no fue fácil pero tampoco difícil, la verdad es qué hacer un triángulo en una tela si lleva su complejidad. Tracing the pattern onto the fabric wasn't exactly rocket science—or so it seemed. My mom and I followed along with a few YouTube videos; it wasn't easy, but it wasn't hard either. The truth is, drawing a triangle on fabric does have its challenges. Paso 2: cortar la tela/ Step 2: cutting the fabric Al momento de cortar, las tijeras que usé de primeras no me funcionaron muy bien, así que tuve que cambiarlas, y a pesar de qué estás sí me funcionarán mejor, cortar tela si lleva su concentración y tranquilidad, tuve que primero recortar el cuadrado y luego colocarlo cómo un triángulo, y al momento de hacerlo me dí cuenta que quedó con algunas partes dísparejas así que tocó volver a emparejar. When I started cutting, the scissors I used at first didn’t work very well, so I had to switch them out. Even though these ones work better, cutting fabric does require concentration and patience. I had to first cut out the square and then arrange it like a triangle, and when I did that, I realized some parts were uneven, so I had to go back and even them out. Paso 3: cosemos/ Step 3: let's sew Ahora sí el momento más esperado coser. Siento que coser es un arte de paciencia y qué admito que cuando empecé en todo este mundo de la costura no la tenía, por ahora sigo practicando en eso, pero sí pude coser todas las partes solo que con varios errores, y sí tuve que descoser en diferentes momentos, más que todo ya casi al final, para arreglar y mejorar el diseño, pero siento que todo valió la pena. Now comes the moment I’ve been waiting for: sewing. I feel like sewing is an art that requires patience, and I’ll admit that when I first started out in the world of sewing, I didn’t have it. I’m still working on that, but I was able to sew all the pieces myself—albeit with a few mistakes. I did have to unpick my work at various points, mostly toward the end, to fix and improve the design, but I feel like it was all worth it. The fifth stop was this temple, better known as the Youth Church. Here I was able to participate in part of my EHH a gathering for young Catholics. It’s a very lovely place, and its architecture is among the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. La sexta parada es un poco bastante lejos, y hay que recordar que actualmente todo este recorrido lo hacemos a pie, pero vale la pena llegar, ya qué hay una calma y una paz indescriptible. The sixth stop is quite a distance away, and keep in mind that we’re currently doing this entire route on foot, but it’s worth the trip, as there’s an indescribable sense of calm and peace there. !
