    The Heart of "Couples Weekend" with Nora Kirkpatrick

    We had the pleasure of sitting down with Nora Kirkpatrick the writer and director of this month's COUPLES WEEKEND to talk about her fascinating journey from rockstar and actor to filmmaker. Nora grew up in rural Iowa before graduating from UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television. Upon graduation, Nora joined Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, won a GRAMMY and toured the world, playing Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury and SXSW, among others. Nora honed her writing skills while on tour, and upon leaving the group, hit the ground running, selling shows to CBS, Hulu, Paramount and Comedy Central, among others.  She was recently a writer on Amazon's Emmy and Golden Globe nominated hit series, DAISY JONES AND THE SIX, a writer/co-producer on the  Amazon series, THE RUNAROUNDS, from the creators of OUTER BANKS. And prior to that Nora created, wrote and directed a 15- episode interactive television show for EKO and FunnyOrDie called THE COOP, co-starred Tony Hale, Bobby Moynihan, Bridget Everett and Margaret Cho. She created, wrote and directed DOOR NO. 1, a first of its kind live-action VR comedy series, starring Snoop Dogg and Ravi Patel, for Hulu, directed on THE GOLDBERGS and was the first woman ever to direct a campaign for Bud Light.     A Journey to Sundance with Director Giselle Bonilla

    Giselle Bonilla received her MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute Conservatory. Her thesis film, THE BULLFIGHTER, won the Student Director's Guild of America Grand Prize Award, and received Special Mention for Best Comedy at Palm Springs' Shortsfest. Giselle is a Latino Film Institute x Netflix Inclusion Fellow, Telluride FilmLAB Fellow, and an alum of the Sundance Institute as an Ignite x Adobe Fellow. Her feature directorial debut, THE MUSICAL, premiered in U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and is based on a short of the same title she and her crew made while at AFI.     Hooked on a Feeling: Composing for the Screen with Sherri Chung

    Three-time Emmy nominated composer Sherri Chung has been recognized internationally as a trailblazer in the world of film and television scoring. Sherri recently composed the scores for HBO Max/Amblin’s two season animated series Gremlins: Secrets of The Mogwai and Gremlins: The Wild Batch, for which she was nominated for 2 Emmy® Awards for Best Music Direction and Composition for An Animated Program. Other recent credits include Netflix’s live action feature film Happiness For Beginners, NBC’s Found, and the Peacock original series Based on a True Story, which gave Sherri her third Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score). Sherri was a 2024 nominee for the IFMCA Breakthrough Composer of the Year. Alongside her composing work, Sherri is also a pianist, vocalist, performer and songwriter.     Online Personas & Feature Debuts with Bunnylovr Writer, Director & Star Katarina Zhu

    Katarina Zhu is the writer, director and star of Bunnylovr -- in theaters right NOW (April 10th 2026). In Bunnylovr a cam girl navigates a toxic client relationship while reconnecting with her estranged, dying father. We talk about her writing process, how she managed to work in front of and behind the camera at the same time, and the experiences of financing and distributing the film. Zhu graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2018 with a BFA in acting. She spent her primary years focused on acting training before pivoting to academic semesters to further explore her interests in film and creative writing. After graduating, she fostered these interests by making her own short films. She's a fellow for the Women in Film Shorts Lab supported by Google. As a filmmaker, her work is mainly concerned with loss, love and the haunting that is inevitably borne of both experiences.     Documentary Filmmaking: A Conversation with Yangzom Brauen

    Yangzom Brauen is an award winning Film and TV Director. Her short film "Born in Battle" about child soldiers received the well known CICT-UNESCO Enrico Fulchignoni Award as well as the UNESCO Gandhi Medal. After the screening of the film 2018 in a Los Angeles movie theater she got instantly offered her first TV directing gig for "NCIS LA" and she’s gone on to direct shows like FBI, 9-1-1, the Emmy-winning MATLOCK, DEATH & OTHER DETAILS & AMERICAN HORROR STORIES. Yangzom is active and vocal in the Tibetan Freedom movement and in 2009 she wrote her first book “Across Many Mountains”, which became an instant European Bestseller. MOLA follows Kunsang Wangmo, or “Mola” a Tibetan nun exiled from her homeland in 1959 to escape the Chinese occupation. Now 100 years old, Mola has decided her last wish is to die in Tibet.
