Danny also chats with Derek Barrett from Derek Barrett Design LTD, renowned for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Fellow Fix Radio Presenter, Andy Cam talks about what it's been like to run a business for over 35 years, shares the wins and set backs he's faced, talks about how you define success and gives advice for any business owners.

Danny Madden looks into a bit of a recent trend where accomplished trade based business owners are choosing to park their business and get into sub-contracting or employed roles with other businesses. Danny talks to George McKechnie about his recent shift in working circumstances and what the benefits have been so far. Dean Saxton explains how moving the family to Cornwall from Nottingham has meant he's had to leave his business there behind and how he's changed the way he works in a new part of the country. Danny also ponders whether he would change how he works or leave his family run business behind.

Danny Madden is starting to worry and feeling unsure of what might happen with his business running costs, material costs and availability with everything going on in the middle east. Material costs are up 30-40% post covid anyway and it's leaving many with an uncertain future without guarentees. Danny asks for clarity and guidance through this from Noble Francis, who is Economics Director at The Construction Products Association and John Newcombe from the Builders Merchants Federation.

Danny Madden talks about his approach to sub-contracting other trades and why he thinks it's out of order for them to get work from clients he's introduced them to, without giving him a cut. Dave White, a Plumbing & Heating Engineer well known on social media who has directly confronted Danny about this approach in the past. Dave explains his perspective and why he took exception to Danny's thought process on this topic. Kimmy The Sparks joins the discussion to share her good and bad experiences subcontracting to General Builders, explains the hypocracy sometimes experienced when subbing to Builders and also all of the underhanded business tactics she's witnessed on the other side of this agreement.

Danny Madden is joined by Kevin Tingley - The Paint Warrior to talk at length about his life and experiences on the tools. Kev talks about his less than ideal start in roofing, how he found decorating from there, finding success after having challenges and setbacks along the way, creating his brand of paint brushes - to today and recent health scares, tool theft nightmare over Christmas and taking a positive step forward with his health.

Almost a year on from when Danny first started looking into a licensing system for construction (which culminated in a trip to the House of Lords with the FMB) Danny asks whether we're any closer to protecting the reputation of Roofers and tradespeople as a whole. FMB Rep & Builder, Rob Clark joins Danny to talk about the FMB's campaign and Builder & Carpenter, John Argyle shares some of his experiences with poor workmanship on roofs and how he's seen standards continue to slip over the decades he's been in the trade.
