We go on further to see Jesus coming to John for a baptism of preparation for the task set before him. Jesus is then led into the wilderness to be tested by Lucifer the “fallen”. Part3. (Matthew, The Gospel to the Jew) The key to understanding the Gospel of Matthew is to keep in mind it’s written to the Jew. In this episode we look at the preparation ministry of John the Baptist and his vitality important work of calling Israel to repentance and heralding the arrival of the Messiah.

Part2. (Matthew, The Gospel to the Jew) In each of the four Gospels God inspired the writers to “pen” the Gospels for a particular purpose and aim. The Gospel of Matthew is designed as an announcement to the Jew, that the Messiah has come. Throughout the 28 chapters of Matthew you find time and again Old Testament verses and scriptures from the Patriarchs, Prophets and others showing that Jesus Christ is the fulfilment of prophecy.

Part1. (Matthew, The Gospel to the Jew) In this new series we are looking at the Gospel according to Matthew, the first book of the New Testament. It’s been called the Gospel to the Jew, it leads in laying the foundation of the New Covenant which is for both Jews and Gentiles. To have a proper understanding of this book or any other book of the Bible we have to ask ourselves some questions for example, where is the writer coming from? … what is his intention? … to whom is he writing? … what is the era, the circumstances, what is the situation of those he is addressing? In other words we need to understand the historical context of the book. In this first part we’ll talk about this consideration before we launch into the Gospel of Matthew.

(Reaching out to those around us.) In this one part study we consider the parable Jesus gives in Luke 14:12-23. God actively seeks out the lost and those who we would not consider reaching out to. Jesus said that he has sheep from ‘another pen’ … not only those of Israel. In this short study we see the heart of God for even the most wayward of humanity … also adding touching examples of Michael and Susan, individuals that I’ve seen God draw to Himself in my 50+ years of pastoring. 

Part7. (The Principles of the Pattern Prayer) In this final part we look at the intent of God in the Pattern Prayer. So much of what we have talked about throughout this study is based on communion and union with the Father, with the focus on intimacy, we understand His mind and will, so that when we pray things happen, that’s our Father’s intent. Part6. (The Principles of the Pattern Prayer) In this second last episode we ponder the implications of Matthew 6:12-13  beginning with “ … forgive us our depts, as we forgive our debtors.” and also how to avoid the pitfalls of temptation.

(The Pattern Prayer) Recapping the priority of praying ‘Your Kingdom Come’ then moving onto the point of  “… give us this day our daily bread …” God has assured us of meeting daily necessities in provision when we apply Matthew 6:33 “…seek first the Kingdom of God … and all these things will be added to you …” God’s intent for us is not just provision but also prosperity and in some cases profusion, but this is dependent on our willingness and His plan. He certainly does not respond to prayer when there is disunity in the Body of Christ. How do we maintain unity in the bond of peace and pray for the Will of our Father to be done.

Part3. (When Gay Turns To Grey) In this concluding part we take a closer look at the “Defiance of Man” which causes him to go any way but God’s. Examining the consequences associated with that defiance which is clear in the Old Testament and further explained in the New Testament (Romans 1:26-32) In the First Book of Corinthians chapter six and verses 9 - 11 Paul describes how the Power of God in Christ is able to save and to free the most defiant of people.

Part2. (When Gay Turns To Grey) Throughout the pages of Scripture God continually talks about the worth of a human soul and because of that every Christian should value every person they meet. It doesn’t matter if they agree with you or are totally apposed, they are of worth, because God offers redemption to them. In this episode we consider Jesus’s word’s … “ In the beginning it was not so …” when He was questioned by the Pharisees in Matthew  chapter 19 (v8) Jesus explains how in the beginning all things were perfect until sin entered, then He goes onto declare and demonstrate the redeeming power of God’s salvation through the Son.

Part1. (When Gay Turns To Grey) These next lot of Bible studies will focus on the disarray of the present world, highlighting how far removed mankind is from the foundational revelation of God, who He is and and what He has decreed. This Gospel which the Scriptures describes and Christians humbly declare is not a Gospel of condemnation, but of revelation, redemption, forgiveness, mercy and power to change human hearts.

Part3. (The Restoration of all Things) In this last episode we look at certain behaviours socially and events throughout this ‘world’s system’ that the Bible points to as markers that indicate the sudden intervention of God. One evident marker is, the persistent increase of totalitarian power, until the Antichrist is manifest. The Apostle Peter in his second Epistle in chapter three describes these events and attitudes. Part2. (The Restoration of all Things) Looking at the chaos of coming events which will precede the great Day of Christ’s appearing to take all believers and His coming to the the earth to establish His Rule. Following the outline of events Jesus foretold in Luke 21:20-27, from the destruction of Jerusalem (in AD70 by the Roman general Titus) to the disbursement of the Jewish people to the four corners of the world, also the relentless persecution suffered wherever they fled. Looking at modern history we see God’s sovereign act of restoration of the Jewish Nation which stands alone among the Nations … and current events mark the nearness of The Lord’s sudden intervention in the rule of man.

Part1. (The Restoration of all Things) In this new study we explore God directed history, current and future evens that will bring about the ‘climax of the ages’.  Part one we look at the disciples’ and more broadly Israel’s understanding of the restoration of the Kingdom. Does the Christian Church have a proper Bible based understanding of these events? … If so how should it shape our thinking and the way we live.

Part10. (Israel, Loved in Heaven, Hated in Hell) In conclusion, this last episode we discuss how  Christians should have a general understanding of end time events, so as to be able to give an answer to those who ask. But there are very few Christians today who know fully, confidently and Biblically what part Israel is playing at this present time. We examine the final restoration of Israel  according to God’s purpose.

Part9. (Israel, Loved in Heaven, Hated in Hell) The apostle Paul talks in Romans 15:27 how the Gentiles in Christ are debtors to Israel because they are partaker’s of Israel’s spiritual things and therefore the Church should minister to Israel in material things. Also the Church should be praying for the peace of Jerusalem and declaring to Israel the message of the prophets, that Her Messiah is coming and to be prepared. Isaiah 26:1 the prophet speaks of a day coming, “In that day …” when there will be a remarkable change in Jerusalem and the people of Israel. In this episode we explore the events in Scripture leading to this change.

Part8. (Israel, Loved in Heaven, Hated in Hell) As we further pursue the principle of, “whatever God loves, satan hates and seeks to destroy. In Luke chapter 19 we see Jesus entering Jerusalem and all the people welcoming Him as King, (vs 41-44) but Jesus weeps over the city because they did not recognise the proper time of the Coming of The Lord. John 1:10 is a concise description of theses events, Israel’s rejection of Him and the curse that comes upon the nation. Jesus knowing all the devastation that will take place in Jerusalem in the immediate future and beyond, weeps! Israel had been blind to the proper order of events even though they had the Scriptures as a clear indication of the “times and seasons”.

Part7. (Israel, Loved in Heaven, Hated in Hell) This episode highlights the accuracy of the Bible and how relevant it is to the current world situation, and that is Israel being the focal point of the Nations. Zechariah chapter 12 and verse 3 describes Jerusalem as being a burdensome stone to all the Nations that have confederated in a united intention to “deal with it”. We see throughout Israel’s history how the intentions of man (the Nations) bring about the interventions of God. Examination of Psalm 48 and Isaiah chapter 26 will add clarity and definition to this study.

Part6. (Israel, Loved in Heaven, Hated in Hell) In the last episode we looked at that ominous Scripture in Deuteronomy 28:64 that God was going to scatter Israel for their disobedience. In this study we focus on the In gathering of Israel as proclaimed by Jeremiah in chapter 31 and verse 10. Throughout Israel’s history there has been much trauma, but God will always bring about triumph in accordance to His plan and will.

Part5. (Israel, Loved in Heaven, Hated in Hell) In this episode we touch on the uniqueness of Israel wherever she is either in Her Land or disbursed throughout the Nations in captivity. God’s plan for Israel is that Israel will be a sigh pointing towards His fulfilling the Promise to the World for Salvation through Jesus the Messiah.

(Israel, Loved in Heaven, Hated in Hell) Israel’s purpose was to bring the Messiah and in preparation of that event was also to influence the Nations around about towards God, that they might be saved. Throughout Israel’s history we read how many times the Nation has turned away from God and His purposes and so many times the Devil has sought to destroy Israel. We find this depiction in the 12th chapter of the Revelation. The Church is not exempt from comprise and the opposition of Satan.

Part3. (Israel, Loved in Heaven, Hated in Hell) This episode we are focusing on Israel’s calling and God’s prophetic dealing with Israel at this present time in order to perform the many promises spoken to the Nation.
