The Four Seasons of Heartbreak with Sheleana Aiyana
Devi welcomes Sheleana Aiyana, bestselling author of Becoming the One and founder of Rising Woman, to discuss her forthcoming book The Four Seasons of Heartbreak (out February 2). Aiyana frames heartbreak as an initiation and a choice point: bitterness or self-awareness, arguing that healing can’t be rushed and that grief deserves time and permission. What if the person you deem “your person” is not, and the heartbreak plays a bigger role in helping you connect inward to find true JOY on the other side? Using nature’s cycles as a template, Aiyana describes moving through inner “seasons” of letting go, clarity and grieving, renewed effort, and hope, culminating in “the gift of being single” and a deeper relationship with self. She shares how heartbreak can reveal an original wound rooted in early life experiences. Heartbreak could be what helps bring clarity to what you need to pay attention to on your journey. Raising Conscious Children with Dr. Shefali
An urgent and provocative message urging parents and adults alike to put your phones down and connect. Our children are facing a rapidly changing landscape, shifting from play-based to phone-based childhoods that influence how they perceive and interact with the world. Devi welcomes back clinical psychologist and Conscious Parenting Movement Founder Dr. Shefali to discuss how conscious parenting has grown since her 2010 book The Conscious Parent and why she wrote two new books, Raising Conscious Daughters and Raising Conscious Sons (releasing September 15). Dr. Shefali warns us that cheap, superficial “knowledge,” instant gratification, and reduced boredom undermine focus, creativity, grit, and resilience, contributing to anxiety, depression, self-harm, loneliness, and suicidality. She is empowering parents to act fast, break away from the algorithm, and put your phones down because this technological world is not designed for healthy childhoods. Darian shares her path from newsroom work and burnout to creating more nuanced beauty journalism that values specificity, empathy, and strong personal standards while avoiding “gotcha” media and telling people what to think. Psychological Fortitude with Dr. Rheeda Walker
Devi welcomes back Dr. Rheeda Walker, a clinical psychologist and professor focused on Black mental health, to discuss shifts in mental-health awareness since the pandemic and the need for credible, culturally informed care amid misinformation and a shortage of providers. Walker explains how avoidance and media narratives shape fears about mental illness, why training and credentials matter, and introduces “psychological fortitude” as the ability to stay grounded despite life stressors, using a simple 0–10 self-rating to assess needs and choose effective responses over knee-jerk coping. They also discuss Walker’s book No Racial Elephants in the Therapy Room, describing how therapists’ discomfort with race can harm clients and why clinicians must address “elephants” directly. Her “soul work” is to pause, breathe, and rate your psychological fortitude when frustrated. What is your capacity to be able to stay grounded and to take care of the things that I am able to do?" When You Know It’s Time to Let Go with Devi Brown
In this special Q&A episode, Devi responds to deeply personal questions from the Deeply Well community about relationships, intuition, and knowing when it may be time to let go. From navigating friendships you've outgrown to finding clarity when a marriage no longer feels aligned, Devi explores reciprocity, emotional maturity, trusting what your body is telling you, and releasing the pressure to stay simply because nothing appears "wrong" from the outside. Through reflections from her own life, she offers an honest reminder that relationships should leave room for us to feel nourished, inspired, supported, and fully ourselves. Sometimes the work isn't figuring out how to hold on; it's trusting yourself enough to recognize when it's time to move forward. Life Beyond the Internet with Weezy WTF
WeezyWTF (co-host of Decisions, Decisions, founder of WTF Media, producer, bestselling author of No Holes Barred, and creator of the NYC fitness studio TrapHaus) joins us to discuss what it really means to grow beyond the version of yourself the internet thinks it knows. Weezy is unapologetically and unconventionally herself, and that's exactly why we love her. In this episode, she speaks candidly about love, marriage, and why, ultimately, "love is not enough" to sustain any relationship. Beyond Being Seen with Devi Brown
Today, Devi is reminding you that “life is hard,” and if you’re living with chronic pain, autoimmune issues, or ADHD, it takes patience, self-advocacy, and finding what actually supports you day to day. During Devi’s visit to the Sha Wellness Clinic in Cancun, an intentional reset for her personal health, modern medicine + holistic care, VO2 max testing, ICARUS, osteopathy, scans, acupuncture, and biofeedback, she realized she's been in fight-or-flight for five months despite all the wonderful moments that also occurred during this period. The question that has been circling and the idea of being seen has been at the forefront. What does it really mean to be “seen,” and why chasing it can give away your power? “No one is ever going to fully see you… But do you see you?” and we land on this truth: “It’s on God’s time. You still got to do it… even if no one notices.” It is important to know that who you are must exist beyond the share button of exposure. Because the more time you spend seeing yourself, the more deliberate and conscious you can become towards your direct healing needs. You are not alone in your creativity, whether it is music, filmmaking, or another expression. The ability to create offers many opportunities to heal, connect and transform everyone it encounters. Devi sits with Grammy-winning producer Dahi who shares how his upcoming project, Black Boy Alternative, came from long seasons of self-reflection, false starts, and finally a “let God in the room” jam session approach that unlocked the story he actually wanted to tell. He explains why music can be his church, what it means to be a “Black Boy” outside the box, and offers simple yet extremely important soul work: “pray…give thanks…ask for guidance” so the weight isn’t all on you. Dr. Julius Thomas shares how becoming the highest-paid tight end in the NFL didn’t bring peace: “the year of my life that I made the most money was also the year that I was suffering the most”, and how that forced him to face how “cold” and emotionally disconnected he’d become. Peaceful Doesn't Mean Passive with Nina Parker
This is a real insight into a longtime friendship between Devi and Nina Parker; they talk candidly about what it looks like to choose yourself when your life looks “successful” on the outside while hiding underlying turmoil internally. Nina shares how therapy helped her stop curating relationships and finally prioritize peace, starting with the simple question, “Do I wanna go? Do I like these people?” Simple questions that are somehow avoided during the decision process. She opens up about surviving an abusive relationship, how grief and public pressure can make you perform instead of dedicating real time towards healing, and why self-awareness only matters when your choices change. Well-Being Rituals with Koya Webb
Devi sits down with Koya Webb to explore what it means to thrive without perfection—through intentional choices, genuine self-worth, and practices that help regulate the nervous system. Koya reflects on a year that brought both marriage and profound loss, including a car accident, miscarriage, and the deaths of loved ones. Through it all, she discovered that grief can become “the accelerator for embodiment.” With refreshing honesty, Koya shares that even after years of wellness practice, she found herself dysregulated, lonely, and needing to deepen her relationships and support system. This conversation is a powerful reminder that wellbeing isn't defined by what we achieve, but by whether we feel connected, supported, and like we truly belong. As Koya notes, having community and a sense of belonging is one of the strongest indicators of longevity and overall well-being. Together, they discuss what it really looks like to design a meaningful life while navigating grief, pressure, and leadership. Koya shares how transforming everyday routines into rituals, intentionally creating beauty and joy, and returning to the breath can help us come back to ourselves. The breath is the master. You'll also hear powerful insights on boundaries, leadership, and choosing alignment over people-pleasing, along with Koya's invitation into deeper healing through a seven-day breathwork experience inspired by her book. Accepting Your Body with Krista Williams
Devi sits down with Krista Williams (Almost 30) for a real conversation about what it takes to come back home to yourself, especially through your body, your boundaries, and your relationships. Krista shares how book launch burnout left her feeling disconnected from something she’s proud of, and how she learned to stop scanning for who didn’t show up and instead focus on who did. She opens up about growing up with intense pressure to be thin, bingeing as a way to numb pain, and how healing began when she shifted from fixing herself to “more deeply understanding myself rather than fix myself.” She offers a simple path: "allow and accept and embrace,” and reframes the body as a spiritual instrument. Black Single Mother with Jamilah Lemieux
This episode is the kind of conversation that makes you exhale. Jamilah Lemieux joins the show to talk about her book, Black Single Mother - the title alone has had the internet buzzing around the topic. Lemieux breaks down how single motherhood is a spectrum, not a stereotype, and how the current wave of public contempt is often about control, to place labels and struggle upon. If you’re dating as a single mom, her advice is practical and protective: be intentional, don’t rush introductions, and “listen to what they say. Believe what they say.” They also name how respectability politics and patriarchy shape shame in Black families, and why mothers deserve full lives: “Don’t write yourself out of the agenda… Include yourself.” Connect with Jamilah Lemieux: Website: https://www.jamilahlemieux.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jamilahlemieux/ Connect with Devi:Website: https://devibrownwellbeing.com/ Substack: https://substack.com/@devibrown Living In Wisdom Book: https://www.devibrown.com/book Living in Wisdom Retreat: https://www.eomega.org/workshops/living-wisdom Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/devibrown/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/deeplywellpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/devibrown?s=21&t=… Merch: https://devibrown.myshopify.com/ Threads - https://www.threads.com/@devibrown See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Beauty is Medicine with Tiffany Howell
Devi sits down with designer Tiffany Howell (Night Palm Studio) to talk about why your home isn’t just décor—it’s emotional support. Tiffany’s main point is simple and powerful: “Beauty is medicine,” and your space can help “reset your nervous system” when life feels hard. She shares how she helps clients find their aesthetic by asking sensory questions: favorite smells, textures, colors you dislike...because it’s “them getting to know themselves again,” and she treats each home like “its own living creature” that evolves with you. This is an opportunity to take away practical steps even without a full redesign: choose colors that make you feel safe, make daily rituals easier, and keep “three things…that bring you joy,” like a candle, a book, or a light you love turning on.Connect with Tiffany Howell: Website: https://www.nightpalm.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nightpalm Connect with Devi:Website: https://devibrownwellbeing.com/ Substack: https://substack.com/@devibrown Living In Wisdom Book: https://www.devibrown.com/book Living in Wisdom Retreat: https://www.eomega.org/workshops/living-wisdom Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/devibrown/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/deeplywellpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/devibrown?s=21&t=… Merch: https://devibrown.myshopify.com/ Threads - https://www.threads.com/@devibrownSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Healing Requires Practice with Devi Brown
Devi reminds us that a real wellness practice isn’t about looking impressive or “creating an ideal version of yourself,” it’s about “building a relationship with yourself that you can return to consistently….It’s not difficult, it’s effortful,” and “wanting healing without devotion… is not possible.” You’ll come away with permission to stop performing your self-care, to trust small moments of real-life integration (one breath before responding counts), and to build a flexible practice across mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. The soul work is simple: ask, “What do I need right now?” then write down what comes up without judgment. Understanding Your Holistic Health with Dr. Taz Bhatia
This episode is a grounding reminder that feeling “off” isn’t all in your head, and you don’t have to settle for being dismissed, confused, or afraid. Dr. Taz Bhatia talks about the epidemic of low-grade “micro inflammation,” how it can show up as everything from fatigue and rashes to mood issues and hormone shifts, and why waiting for the classic markers (like CRP, homocysteine, ESR) can mean you’re already at a “five alarm fire.” What really sticks is her take on holistic care: it’s not “all herbs” or being “100% natural,” it’s “looking at you as a whole person and then using whatever tool is on hand,” including labs, supplements, medication, or procedures when needed. She also names how relationships, stress, and environment can trigger symptoms, “the body knows before maybe we know”, and encourages building a team across physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and community health. The Truth About Emotional Intelligence with Dr. Marc Brackett
Dr. Marc Brackett joins us today to talk about what emotional intelligence actually is—and why it’s not just “being a deep feeler” or a good talker. He breaks it down with his RULER framework (recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing, regulating) and pushes for more precise language than “good,” because nuance changes everything. One of the biggest takeaways: emotional skills don’t grow without “permission to feel,” and most people didn’t have an “emotional ally” growing up—someone “non-judgmental” who offers presence instead of fixing. He also shares practical regulation tools: “never worry alone,” watch your self-talk, and set identity-based intentions (like being “cherished” and “alive” as a parent). He reminds parents, including Devi, that it’s “effortful, but it is not difficult,” and sleep is often the hidden barrier. "Take Your Life Seriously” with Nedra Glover Tawwab
Today we sit with our very first guest of Season Five - therapist and bestselling author Nedra Glover Tawwab, who talks about what it means to “take life seriously” through intention, and why success doesn’t have to start perfectly. Her new book, The Balancing Act, is about learning the difference between “tolerable annoyance and abuse and neglect,” so we stop cutting people off for normal friction and end up lonelier. She reminds us, “we are in charge of our phone,” and sometimes the healthiest move is just not answering, without turning it into a relationship-ending talk. What is a healthy community? Tawwab jokes about how important our interactions are, even with the baristas at our local cafe. Every interaction, especially the reliable day-to-day interactions hold value, and often can be healthier than the relationships we put the weight of expectations on. We also elaborate on "how useful it is to know how you show up in the world" and not get pigeonholed into an attachment style. Therapy and our conversations shared within those sessions are to help us identify our patterns and why and how they show up, and create outcomes that don't align with our desires. Tawwab points out these scenarios, how they’ve shown up in her life, and allowed her to acknowledge how she’s grown. As always, we end the episode with soul-work. Nedra offers the question: “What is your relationship with offering people grace, extending it to yourself as well?Connect with Nedra Website https://www.nedratawwab.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nedratawwabConnect with Devi:Website: https://devibrownwellbeing.com/ Substack: https://substack.com/@devibrown Living In Wisdom Book: https://www.devibrown.com/book Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/devibrown/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/deeplywellpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/devibrown?s=21&t=… Merch: https://devibrown.myshopify.com/ Threads - https://www.threads.com/@devibrownSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Art of Holding Multiple Truths
Some things cannot be resolved. They can only be held. This episode is about paradox as a practice. Not a philosophy, not a concept, but a real and living skill for an era that is pulling us in every direction at once. We move through what it means to stop forcing clarity where life is asking for capacity, and why emotional maturity might be the most important work of this particular moment in human history. At the heart of this episode is a deeply personal story of receiving the devastating news of the loss of a friend, whose life was taken.
