Micka Burkhart's record catfish is one of the largest catfish ever caught in America. A potential new Tennessee state record blue catfish has just been caught on the Cumberland River in Tennessee. Micka Burkhart is the angler who caught the giant catfish. Coincidentally, he hold the current Tennessee state record for a blue catfish. State record catfish are rare. Recently, Missouri angler Daniel Mayer has caught the new state record for a blue catfish for the state of Kansas, and the fish died before it could be released alive. Daniel Mayer caught the record blue catfish on the Missouri River in May of 2025 and the record was recently certified.. Mayer was eligible for the Catch the Fever prize of $20,000 for catching a state record catfish. The new state record, caught on the Missouri River, weighs in at 121.1 pounds and measures in at 59.75 inches. In this video I discuss the grand jury indictment in the fatal boat crash on Smith Lake that killed three striper fishermen, and injured two more, in April of 2025. Professional bass angler Flint Davis was fishing on Smith Lake when he collided with a group of fishermen that were striper fishing. A grand jury indicted Flint Davis with five felony charges that included manslaughter and felony assault. The Cullman County grand jury indicted Flint Davis in the deaths of Joe M. Broom, John “Kelly” Clark, and Jeffrey C. Little, 62. Steve has been hit from all angles this last year. From court battles to a 50-year flood event, to a battle with cancer, he has been hit.He started off the year in a court battle just to keep the Monster name. Although he won that battle, it was not without a huge financial burden.Next, he had the flood in the spring which put not only his business but his home under 3 feet of water. Although insurance did step in to pay some, Steve was still financially liable for a large chunk of the expense.Now, if you know Steve, you know he is a tough ole man from here in KY, and he was not going to sit and watch us do this cleanup work without being right there shoveling with us. Well, while shoveling, Steve started to feel really weak and experience some extreme joint pain. After several weeks of doctor visits and a whole lot of testing, he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. While not terminal, the doctor said it was treatable but not curable. Now they are in a battle to stop the cancer from growing and get him a plan together to live out what is hopefully a long rest of his life.That brings us up to now. Steve is unable to work every day here in the shop, and I simply can’t drop everything in my life to be here full-time. So unfortunately, we have been forced to close up shop at Monster until Steve is well enough to at least help me open it back up. This leaves him with no income and a pile of doctor bills, his regular bills, the bills from Monster, and some hefty insurance premiums. So I have discussed this with Steve, and against his stubborn ways, he has agreed to let me do this fundraiser for him. Missing kayaker found dead after empty kayak discovered on Lake Marion. Authorities say they recovered the body of a missing kayaker on Sunday after the discovery of an empty kayak a day earlier. Officials continued their search for the missing person on Sunday after the kayak was discovered on Saturday afternoon in Lake Marion. Authorities said on Sunday that they had identified the owner and were using cell phone data to help to help find where the person may have gone into the water. On Sunday evening, authorities confirmed that a dive team using sonar had recovered the missing kayaker. The missing kayaker was found dead in Lake Marion Sunday afternoon. Trey McKinney nearly destroyed his bass fishing boat while trying to get it on the trailer in high winds and waves on Lake Ray Roberts during a practice round for the 2025 Bassmaster Classic in Texas. The boat was swamped by waves while at the ramp in extremely high winds and waves, and he struggled to get it secured to the trailer. The bend in the river in an I-40 stretch near the Tennessee line was at its banks Friday and early Saturday after Helene dumped more than 2 feet of rain on the mountains. Water from the river cut under parts of I-40 in areas that appeared normal from the surface. There is a new record breaking catfish in Ohio. The giant blue catfish was caught by 15 year-old high school sophomore Jaylynn Parker. A missing fisherman's boat was found Tuesday. The boat of missing fisherman Jeff Kale of Clover SC was found today off the North Carolina coast just hours after the United States Coast Guard called off the search. Kale went missing on Saturday, and a widespread search was conducted all of Sunday and Monday with no results. Oak Island police said efforts to find Kale using cellphone location data were attempted but were not successful.
