The Church and the Churches
Romans 12:5 Imagine a new believer looking for a church in the yellow pages. He will see names like Presbyterian, Baptist, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Episcopal, and perhaps a few others. He might wonder which is the right church? Much confusion has arisen because people fail to distinguish between the organized, institutional churches and the Church founded by the Lord Jesus Christ, made up of His genuine followers. Dr. Barnhouse explains the difference between the churches and the Church on Dr. Barnhouse & the Bible.

What Is the Church?
Romans 12:4 When you mention the word "church," many people think of a building with a cross and a steeple. Others might think of a particular denomination or religious organization. But the church is a building not made of bricks and cement, but of living stones. It is not an organization but an organism; a spiritual body comprised of born again believers around the world. Dr. Barnhouse asks the probing question, "Are you a genuine member of the church of Jesus Christ?," on Dr. Barnhouse & the Bible.

Humility: Evidence of Consecration
Romans 12:3 The Bible says that a man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. Jesus told of a Pharisee who appeared righteous and godly, yet was filled with pride and self righteousness. But God had mercy on a tax collector whose heart was humbled, broken and contrite over his many sins. Dr. Barnhouse teaches that the path of humility and reverence before God is the path of rich blessing, and spiritual growth on Dr. Barnhouse & the Bible.

Triumph
Romans 12:2 When a nation loses a war, their defeat is shown by their surrender to the enemy forces and submission to their terms. But in the spiritual realm, surrender and submission is the path to victory. God offers peace with Himself to rebelious sinners through the death of His Son and we can experience spiritual triumph when we trust in Jesus Christ and yield to HIs lordship. Dr. Barnhouse shares this good news on Dr. Barnhouse & the Bible.

How God Transforms the Christian
Romans 12:2 Every baby wants his own way and cries when he does not get it. We are all bom with a nature that wants to be gratified and we continue following our selfish desires into adulthood. But when the Lord brings us to salvation, He begins a lifelong process of growing us toward spiritual maturity. How does God transform rebellious sinners into His obedient children who live in yielded submission to Jesus Christ? Find out on Dr. Barnhouse & the Bible.

Christian Non-Conformist
Romans 12:1 In the 1960's, many young Americans rebelled against a society and culture that had largely been shaped by Christian values. This led to a decade of non-conformist counter culture. But the Bible teaches that we are to refuse to conform to the world. Dr. Barnhouse poses the question, "Are you being transformed daily by the renewing of your mind?" on Dr. Barnhouse & the Bible.

Intelligent Worship
Romans 12:1 According to the Bible, the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord Your God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength. True worship, pleasing and acceptable to God, flows from a sincere heart that loves God and is overflowing with gratitude for His redeeming love and grace. Do you go through the motions, or is your worship energized by love and thankfulness to God? Dr. Barnhouse teaches about intelligent worship on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Dominated by the Spirit
Romans 12:1 When the angel appeared to Joseph and announced the birth of the Savior, he said, "You shall call his name Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins." But sadly, many people seem to want Jesus to save them in their sin rather than from them. Are you pursuing a life that is dominated by the Spirit of God? Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible for more.

Living Sacrifice
Romans 12:1 The Bible exhorts us to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. But as one Christian writer observes, "The problem with a living sacrifice is that it keeps crawling off the altar." How can we learn to lay aside our sinful, self-centered desires and yield ourselves fully to the Lord? Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible to find out.

Christianity is Christ
Romans 12:1 Many people assume that the teachings of Jesus Christ form the basis of Christianity. But this is a serious error. Christianity is not merely a set of teachings and principles -- it is a person. The essence of Christianity is Jesus Christ himself and his redemptive work on behalf of needy sinners. Dr. Barnhouse asks, "Is Christ at the center of your Christianity?"

The Foundation for Christian Ethics
Romans 12:1 When you study the Bible and come across the word, "therefore", it is always a good idea to ask, "What is it there for?" When the Apostle Paul uses the word "therefore" at the beginning of chapter 12, we must realize he is building on what he's taught in previous chapters. Listen to Dr. Barnhouse to find out how Paul's prior instruction lays a solid foundation for Christian ethics and godly living on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Israel to Be Restored
Romans 11:23, 24 The Gospel of John declares that Jesus came unto His own, but His own did not receive Him. The religious leaders and the people of Israel overwhelmingly rejected their Messiah and today the majority of Jews continue to reject Him. Will Israel continue in unbelief or will there come a day when they acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Messiah and King and be restored? Find out on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Gentile Domination
Romans 11:19-22 In the days following Peter's sermon on Pentecost, the church was almost exclusively made up of Jews who believed in Jesus as their Messiah. But ever since Peter preached the gospel to Cornelius and his family, Gentile believers have made up the overwhelming majority of God's redeemed people. Does national Israel still have a role to play in God's plan for the future? Listen to Dr. Barnhouse to find out on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Grafted Into the Olive Tree
Romans 11:16-18 You may wish you could be related to some famous person, but you cannot simply graft yourself into that person's family tree. And yet, God has grafted Gentile believers into the spiritual family tree of Abraham. If you believe in Jesus Christ, you too are a part of the olive tree made up of Jews and Gentiles throughout history who have trusted in the Lord for salvation. Dr. Barnhouse shares this encouraging message on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Restoration for Israel
Romans 11:12, 15 Middle East peace summits have discussed the possibility of Israel surrendering territory to the Palestinians or the surrounding Arab nations in exchange for peace. But the Bible suggests something quite different. God has declared that he will expand Israel far beyond its current borders into much of today's Arab world. What does God's word teach about Israel's restoration? Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible to find out.

Gentile Blessings
Romans 11:11-15 A star baseball player will not be cut from the team if he is injured. The manager can keep him on the bench as a pinch hitter and get a player from the Minor Leagues to fill his position. If they win the World Series, both players will be champions. God has not cast off Israel, but has set them aside for a time so that the Gentiles might receive the riches of salvation in Jesus Christ. Dr. Barnhouse preaches about Gentile blessings on Dr. Barnhouse & the Bible.

Men's Hearts Hardened
Romans 11:7-10 If clay begins to dry, it can become so hard that a potter cannot use it anymore. But if it has not completely hardened, the potter can add moisture and work with the clay until it becomes soft and usable. The human heart is naturally hard and hostile against God, but He alone is the master potter who can work in us to soften our hearts and use us for His glory. Find out more on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Grace Alone
Romans 11:5-6 There is no such thing as a married bachelor. Marriage and singlehood are mutually exclusive and the man is either married or unmarried. According to the Bible, salvation by grace and salvation by works are mutually exclusive systems. You cannot have salvation by grace + works. It must be one or the other. Dr. Barnhouse asks, "Does your hope of salvation rest in God's grace alone?" on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

The Lord Knows His Own
Romans 11:2-5 As he fled for his life from Jezebel, the prophet Elijah came to the place of utter despair. It seemed to him that the entire nation had turned away from God and that he alone had remained faithful, but God replied that he had reserved for Himself 7,000 men who had not bowed the knee to Baal. The Lord knows His own and He is able to preserve them by His power and grace. Dr. Donald Barnhouse encourages us with these truths on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

God's People Not Cast Off
Romans 11:1 Years ago, the King of Prussia challenged his chaplain to prove that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The chaplain replied with one word: "Israel." How do we see the hand of God in his dealings with Israel, and what promises to the nation are yet to be fulfilled? Dr. Barnhouse sheds light on this topic on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

God's Arms Outstretched
Romans 10:20, 21 Centuries ago, the arms of Jesus Christ were stretched out upon a wooden cross as wicked men put him to death by crucifixion. Today the arms of our risen Lord stretch forth to offer grace and forgiveness to a race of wicked rebellious sinners. He is ready to receive all who flee into his outstretched arms and turn to him in repentance and faith. Dr. Barnhouse shares this wonderful news of God's love on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Salvation for All
Romans 10:19 Charlotte Elliott was a respected member of English higher society, but one day a minister told her, "Without Jesus Christ, you are just as lost as the worst prostitute in all of London." She later became a believer and wrote the famous hymn, "Just as I Am." No matter who you are or what you have done in your life, you can come to Jesus Christ just as you are and receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Tune in to hear more from Dr. Barnhouse on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

The Heavens Declare
Romans 10:18 When did Christianity begin? Most people would probably say that Christianity began with the birth of Jesus Christ. But in Chapter 10 of Romans, the apostle Paul sets forth an astonishing truth: that the gospel had been known for hundreds of years before Christ. Today, hundreds of years after Christ, the good news of salvation continues to sound forth throughout the world. Tune in to this good news from Dr. Barnhouse on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Faith and the Word
Romans 10:17 The human ear has three tiny bells called the hammer, the anvil, and the stirrup. Each of them must function together in order for you to hear. Three essential spiritual elements must work in conjunction in order for you to be saved: faith, the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit. How do these work together to convert a lost sinner into a child of God? Dr. Barnhouse answers this question using Romans 10:16 on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.
-
76
Disobedience and Unbelief
Romans 10:16 The gospel of Matthew records that Jesus was moved with compassion for the multitudes because they were weary and scattered like sheep with no shepherd. Believers should be filled with joy when others come to Christ, but we must also be filled with compassion for those that do not know him. Do you try to lead unbelievers to Jesus, the Good Shepherd? Listen as Dr. Barnhouse teaches from Romans 10:16.

How Beautiful the Feet
Romans 10:14 As they spread the gospel far and wide, the apostles often walked for long distances on rough, dusty roads. Their feet would have been smelly, caked with dirt and covered with callouses. We would hardly consider this to be an appealing sight. But to the Lord, there is nothing so beautiful as the feet of those who bring the good news of Jesus Christ to those who need him. Tune in as Dr. Barnhouse brings a message from Romans 10:14, "How Beautiful the Feet."

A Plea for Missions
Romans 10:14 Jesus commanded his church to go into all the world, preach the gospel, and make disciples of the nations. We know this as the Great Commission. Sadly, the church has largely been guilty of a great omission in reaching the world for Christ. How can we recover a passion for proclaiming the gospel and building the kingdom of God throughout the world? Find out on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Reaching Sinner
Romans 10:14 Years ago, AT&T used a popular advertising slogan: "Reach Out and Touch Someone." It is true you can brighten someone's day with an encouraging telephone call, but you can touch someone's life for eternity by reaching out to them with the good news of salvation. Today on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible, Dr. Barnhouse poses the question, "Are you committed to reaching lost sinners with the gospel of Christ?"

Call on His Name
Romans 10:13 You should call 911 if you are in danger and need to be rescued. But if you are in spiritual danger from eternal condemnation, you must call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible promises that everyone who will call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Have you called upon His mighty name for your salvation? Hear more about this important promise on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Lord of All
Romans 10:12, 13 Anyone can claim to be a Christian, but it is vital that you actually possess a relationship with Jesus Christ and not merely profess to have one. Our confession that Jesus Christ is Lord must be accompanied by our submission to Jesus Christ as Lord. Do you obediently follow Jesus Christ and acknowledge Him as Lord of all? Tune in to hear Dr. Barnhouse's message entitled, "Lord of All" on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Believer Without Shame
Romans 10:11 A mother might tell a rude, unruly teenager, "You should be ashamed of yourself!" But we often say the same thing to ourselves when we consider our sinful deeds, words, and thoughts. There is an ungodly type of shame that finds its origin in human pride, but genuine, godly shame over our sin leads to repentance, salvation and spiritual growth. What valuable insights can the word of God teach us about shame? Find out by listening to Dr. Barnhouse today on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Complete Salvation
Romans 10: 9, 10 The zealous believer stopped a man on the street and asked, "Are you saved?" The startled man replied, "Saved from what?" We should not be surprised when unbelievers do not have a proper understanding of salvation, but we should be alarmed when Christians don't either. Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible as Dr. Barnhouse asks the question, "Do you truly understand what the Bible teaches about salvation?"
-
68
Confession
Romans 10:10 We do not expect a young boy to support his family with a full time job, but we do expect this of his father. A grown man has greater responsibilities in society than his child, and much more is required of him. We have a greater responsibility before God than those who do not have access to the Word of God, Bible study materials, Christian radio, and faithful evangelical churches. Do you take God's blessings and privileges in your life for granted? Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

67
Confession and Faith
Romans 10:9, 10 If a policeman or an FBI agent is working undercover, it is vital for him to keep his true identity a secret. But if you are a Christian, you must never try to keep your identity a secret. God wants us to boldly live out our faith as a testimony to a fallen, unbelieving world. Do you confess Jesus Christ before others, or do you try to live out your life as an undercover Christian? Listen as Dr. Barnhouse shares a message from Romans 10, verses 9 and 10.

Man's Answer
Romans 10:9, 10 The Philippian jailer fell down before Silas and the Apostle Paul and asked, "What must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved." Many people today ask the same question, and God's reply is the same as well. Have you responded to God's call like the Philippian jailer did and come to the Lord Jesus Christ in repentance and faith? Find out more on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

The Word We Preach
Romans 10:8 Countless lives changed when the apostles preached the gospel throughout the Roman empire. Has your life been transformed by hearing the Word of faith? Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible to hear about the power of God's transforming Word.

Righteousness of Faith
Romans 10:5, 6 Those who claim to be faith healers and miracle workers attract many people who seek signs from God and manifestations of divine power. But true faith does not seek after signs and wonders. Biblical faith lays hold of the promises of God, rests and relies on the finished work of Jesus Christ, and responds with joyful obedience and service. Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible to hear about the righteousness of faith.

Change of Administration
Romans 10:4 When the words, "The End," appear on the movie screen, there is no doubt what this means -- the movie is over. But there's been much confusion and misrepresentation about the Scripture verse which states, "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes." Stay tuned as Dr. Barnhouse shines biblical clarity and insight upon this difficult passage.

Christ, Our Righteousness
Romans 10:3 Jesus Christ was God in human flesh- the physical manifestation of God's perfect character and righteousness. The Old Testament told all about him and pointed to him as Israel's Messiah. Yet the Apostle John wrote, "He came unto his own and his own received him not." Why did the religious leaders and people of Israel reject Jesus and the righteousness of God that comes through faith? Find out on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Two Kinds of Righteousness
Romans 10:2, 3 We sometimes say you can't compare apples and oranges. But this is what many people do when they talk about the righteousness of God. They believe it is merely an exalted, perfected form of human righteousness. But God's righteousness is of a completely different category altogether. How does the Bible differentiate human and divine righteousness? Find out from Dr. Barnhouse on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

Paul's Heart Desire
Romans 10:1, 2 What is your heart's desire? You might hear many different answers to this question such as a loving marriage, a happy family life, a larger home, or a big promotion or raise. But the Apostle Paul was so filled with the love of God that his heart's desire was for the people of Israel to turn to their Messiah and be saved. Does your heart long for the salvation of those that do not know Jesus Christ? Listen as Dr. Barnhouse challenges believers on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

A Short Work
Romans 9:25-29 The Apostle Paul reminded the Ephesians that at one time they were aliens from the Commonwealth of Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise, without Christ, and without hope in the world. This was the sad state of Gentile peoples before Jesus came. But now, Gentile believers, just like 1st century Ephesians, have been brought near to God by the blood of Jesus Christ. Has God performed His work of salvation in you? Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

God's Power and Grace
Romans 9:22-24 When tragedy strikes, many people lash out at God, accusing Him of cruelty and injustice. They cry out and say, "What did I do to deserve this?" We forget that we deserve nothing but judgment and condemnation, and yet God has dealt with us according to His love and grace, culminating with the atoning death of Jesus Christ on our behalf. Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible with Dr. Barnhouse to hear about God's power and grace.

Election
Romans 9:21 There are many people who are swing voters. They cannot decide whom to vote for and sometimes remain undecided right up to election day. Many evangelists portray unbelievers as spiritual swing voters. God has cast his ballot to save them, Satan has cast his ballot for their eternal condemnation and they must break the tie. But is this accurate? Listen to Dr. Barnhouse to find out what the Bible teaches about election on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

God, Judge of This World
Romans 9:19-24 When the president brings a judicial nominee before Congress, they scrutinize the nominee's character and record and discuss his qualifications to serve as a federal judge or a Supreme Court justice. But God's suitability as a judge of the universe is not open for discussion. He alone is infinitely holy and wise and is able to execute perfect righteous judgment. Have you been acquitted for all your sin and guilt by the sovereign judge of this world? Tune in to Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible to hear more.

God's Sovereign Will
Romans 9:17, 18 When Moses delivered his people from bondage, Pharoah's stubborn resistance against God led to the destruction of the Egyptian army in the waters of the Red Sea. The Bible declares that Pharoah hardened his heart against the Lord, but the Bible also declares that God hardened Pharoah's heart. Christians are often confused by this seeming contradiction. What does the Bible teach us about God's sovereignty and human responsibility? Find out on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible with Dr. Donald Barnhouse.

Salvation Is of God
Romans 9:16 A man makes many decisions every day, but when he is dead, he cannot simply choose to become alive again. Many Christians assume that every person has the natural moral ability to exercise his or her free will unto salvation. But the Bible declares that every person is born spiritually dead in trespasses and sins and must be born again by the sovereign grace of God. Dr. Barnhouse asks the question, "Has the Lord transformed you by his sovereign work of salvation?" on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

God's Righteousness
Romans 9:14 If ten guilty men are sentenced to prison and the Governor pardons one of them, he is not acting unjustly towards the others. The nine receive exactly what they deserve for their crimes, while the one who was set free receives undeserved mercy. Many people argue that the doctrines of election and predestination make God seem to be unjust, unfair, and unrighteous. How does Scripture answer this charge against the Lord? Find out from Dr. Barnhouse on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

The Sovereignty of God in Election
Romans 9:6 That's not fair! Virtually every parent has heard that complaint countless times from their children. What does the Bible have to say about these complex and controversial subjects? Find out on Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.
