Layered guitars, droning synths & heavy reverb collectively create a dense, hazy texture & that density of "Cascades" evokes the feeling of being underwater; where the sounds seems to move around you rather than directly at you. Both lyrically & musically Dexy & Chris were inspired by water on this album & listening to it from start to finish will leave you feeling utterly submerged. The vocals & instrumentation on this album literally seem to float over one another rather than sit squarely in the mix, giving the impression of voices coming from a far off place; like you're listening to it deep within a lake or beneath a moonlit river. They build, swell, & recede like tides, making the listener adrift in the midst of the current of the song. Dreamgaze Overtone; A Family Affair! ✨ This episode of Dreamgaze Overtone was a truly very special one, featuring two incredible guest DJs; my mom aka DJ Garnet & my sister aka DJ Chloe! It was a beautiful trip down memory lane, spinning some of our all time family favorites.
