EDP68: Rome & Stockholm Diamond League Round Up / Eoin's 5000m Race Review

It's hard to keep up at this stage but the lads are back with more race results. First up is the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland 🇫🇮 where there was an extremely stacked 5000m where only half the field finished and a deep 1500m.Next it was the 🇮🇹 Rome Diamond League where M11 Track Club's Georgia Hunter Bell got the win in her season opener while Keely Hodgkinson mixed things up and ran a 400m. In the 5000m, Ethiopia showed their dominance claiming the top 7 spots while Linden Hall from Australia and Sarah Healy from Ireland both got shiny new PBs.Then to 🇸🇪Stockholm where again the fields didn't disappoint. Young American Cooper Lutkenhaus got the win over a star studded line up while another young gun Audrey Werro got a shock win over Keely Hodgkinson in the women's 800m, clocking the third fastest time ever. To conclude the event, Yared Nuguse stole Cam Myers' spotlight and out-kicked the young Australian in an enthralling men's 1500m.You think that's all but it's not. The lads preview the 🇳🇴 Oslo Diamond League where again the fields are ridiculously deep, with the highlight event being the Dream Mile.Eoin talks us through his disappointing 5000m on the track where he learned a lesson or two but was able to take the positives.📺 In YouTube Diaries we give you guys a heads up on Team Makou's channel as they release a teaser on a series following Ellis Cross's build to the European Marathon later in the summer.👊 In Double Trouble the lads take aim at head coach ChatGPT and while coach GPT can be helpful, he will never make it as a top coach. All this and so much more in another stacked episode of the Easy Double Podcast. As always we dive into the races, the stories behind them and everything else going on in the running world.🎧 Listen now on Spotify & Apple Podcasts📲 Follow us on Instagram: @easydoublepod📩 Email: [email protected]For early release, no adverts & plenty of bonus content, join us at Patreon https://www.patreon.com/c/EasyDouble

LONDON CALLING EP3: Ran To Japan, Jake Smith & Tim Vincent

Jake Barraclough missed the start of this one… still sat in the sauna after getting caught out by daylight savings kicking in back in the UK but not in Japan 😅 Once we got him on (mid-sweat, still recovering), we got straight into a proper London Calling catch-up with 3 weeks to go.We unpacked Jake Smith’s recent half marathon block — from Bath to Berlin — including front-running battles, getting “sat on” for 10 miles, and what it’s like when it all blows apart in the final kilometre. Then contrasting that with Berlin, where it was a no-pressure, no-taper effort — racing in sunglasses, chatting mid-race, and running just seconds off peak shape at a much lower heart rate. The takeaway? Fitness is in a very good place at exactly the right time.Tim Vincent then looks ahead to his upcoming 10km in Lille — a late entry into a seriously stacked field. We get into why it matters, the mindset going into a race like that, and how it fits into a marathon build. There’s a really honest discussion around respecting the level, racing properly vs “fudging it”, and what a performance here could mean heading into London.Jake Barraclough brings the chaos — from sauna mishaps to a much more serious insight into the last few months. He opens up on dealing with a long-term back issue, running through pain, and ultimately having to step back and rebuild. There’s some really valuable perspective here on injury management, biomechanics, and how quickly things can shift when consistency is taken away.Elsewhere, we get into:Marathon month reality — 3 weeks to go and it starting to feel realLong runs together in London (and why Bushy/Richmond might be the best spots in the city)The mental shift from racing blocks → full marathon focusTaper nerves, start line anxiety, and just trying to get there healthyLondon is close now… and for all three, the paths there couldn’t look more different. We'll be back, the week of the race to capture the lads final thoughts and get into the race plans and stratergies! EDP53: Keely's Indoor WR / Castellon 10k & European Records / Osaka Marathon

Episode 53 opens in classic Easy Double fashion — bird attacks, gym chat and a brief debate about whether anyone should ever run a marathon in jeans — before we get into one of the biggest weeks of distance running so far this year.We dive deep into Keely Hodgkinson’s indoor world record, unpacking not just the time but the authority of the performance. Has she shifted from championship racer to era-defining middle-distance force? What does this mean for the global 800m picture heading outdoors — and who, realistically, can challenge her right now? From there we head to Castellón 10k, where the roads absolutely lit up. European records, outrageous depth and another reminder that road 10k running has entered a different stratosphere. We break down the significance of the performances, the pacing dynamics, and whether the roads are now producing more compelling narratives than the track. We also analyse the Osaka Marathon, looking at execution, pacing decisions and what these early-season marathon performances tell us about championship builds later in the year. Who looked controlled? Who looked aggressive? And what does it signal for the rest of 2026?Listener Questions are addressed with some interesting reflections.YouTube diaries is dedicated to one of the biggest winners at Osaka Marathon, USA's Ethan Shuley who ran courageously and outrageously to go #6 all time for the USA.Plus, we preview a massive week ahead for Easy Double — two major interviews dropping (including a current Australian record holder) and the launch of a London Marathon mini-series.As always: serious running analysis, zero ego, a few strong opinions and plenty of sideways banter.

Joe Wigfield: Knocking on the Door – 62:04 Manchester Half Winner

This week, Ryan sits down with fellow Wirral native Joe Wigfield – the newly-crowned Manchester Half Marathon champion after an impressive 62:04 win over GB international Jonny Mellor.Joe actually coached Ryan to his 2:45 debut marathon so they share some early reflections on the coach/athlete relationship. They dive straight into the details behind Manchester: the race plan, pacing calls, mental battles, and what it’s like tackling longer distances when you come from the track. How to beat and elite marathoner as a traditional 800/1500m guy and what is going through Joe's mind at different points throughout the race.Joe rewinds to his early days at Wirral AC, where he juggled high jump and middle-distance before heading to St Mary’s University under coach Craig Winrow, reflects on a brief and confusing year with HOKA, and opens up on the lessons that shaped his career. There’s plenty more – from GB selection debates to World Cross in Bathurst, dealing with stress fractures, rebuilding confidence, and chasing redemption at the British Champs. Plus a quick-fire round where Joe picks between a GB vest or Liverpool’s Champions League, reveals his top coffee spots in Teddington, and his beer of choice. One of Britain’s most versatile distance talents, Joe’s story is about resilience, range, and the belief that the best is yet to come.
