Pastor Jonathan Eckberg leads us in the next passage through the life of Jospeh. Last week we talked about how great it is to enjoy the peaks of life and how important it is to remain faithful through them. But, once again, we're reminded that the valleys are important too. That's because, not only do they have lessons to teach us, but they are actually blessings from the Lord. As odd as that may feel to say, we see this reality displayed in Genesis 42:1-38.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg leads us back into our study on the life of Joseph, "Peaks and Valleys." We know that there are many lessons we draw from our defeats. But it's still fun to win, isn't it? But it's what we learn from defeat that helps us to respond with humility and grace in victory. Joseph shows us how righteousness in our valleys can lead to greater joy when we reach the peaks.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg leads us in the next chapter of Joseph's life. Wisdom is highly valued by every culture and in every situation in the world. And yet, not all that is seen as "wisdom" is created equal. In Joseph's interaction with Pharaoh and his court we see true, divine wisdom at the forefront and see the magnitude of its power. It's a great lesson for why we must always choose God's wisdom over any power of this world.

To this point, Joseph's story seems to be a series of successive valleys, each feeling deeper and darker than the last. But in Genesis 41 we see how his faithfulness puts him right where God wants him when divine opportunity arises. This week we discuss how we imitate Joseph to be ready for the work God has in store for us.

Sometimes we feel like we've done everything right and yet the results we get are disappointing and frustrating. We may even feel abandoned by God. Over the 250 year course of our nation’s history 42 million Americans have answered the call to serve in our military. 1.3 million died answering that call. As we reflect on their sacrifice this Memorial Day we should also reflect on an even greater calling—the call to a complete devotion and service to our Lord Jesus.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg continues our study of the life of Joseph. Are you a starry-eyed optimist or a cautious skeptic? We all at least lean one way or the other. And our natural disposition affects the way we see the world around us, especially in times of turmoil. But regardless of how we view a situation, God always provides for His faithful children. This is the clear lesson we learn in Genesis 39 through Joseph's time in Potiphar's house.

There are plenty of times in our lives when we feel a disconnect between what we believe about our God and what we experience as we make our way through a broken world. It is important for us to understand how to bridge that gap in our hearts and minds in order that we might walk with increasing faith in God's love, grace, and mercy.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg concludes our study through the Gospel of Matthew. Last week we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is alive! But... now what? As we close our study in the gospel of Matthew, we see the call to action that results from the incredible nature of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Jesus has won, now we advance the Kingdom in light of His victory!

Christ is Risen! Pastor Jonathan Eckberg preaches on the resurrection of Jesus Christ! Emptiness is something most of us try to avoid: empty stomachs, empty gas tanks, empty bank accounts, empty relationships. Empty is bad. But the greatest outlier in the history of mankind is the empty tomb which leads us to the fullness of joy, hope, peace, and life. We can't wait to celebrate with you this resurrection Sunday!

In Matthew 26:17-25 we are reminded that He is also at work preparing us to follow him in bold faithfulness.

As we move to these final chapters of the gospel of Matthew, we see Jesus' ministry accelerate into his intended purpose. Over the next few months we will read about his final steps in the journey to the cross and celebrate the empty tomb. As Jesus prepares for this, Matthew reminds us that this is possible and meaningful because Jesus is Lord.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg concludes our study in Lamentations. As we close this book, we are presented with a poem that sums up the entire book. As one final lament is offered, we see how prayers of lament are crucial to our own experience of suffering. Lamentations 5 lays out the hope, peace, and rest that can be found in our surrender to the sovereign and loving will of our God.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg teaches the 4th week of our current series in the book of Lamentations, "How?!" While the poems in the book of Lamentation are dark and painful, we saw last week how they hinge on the hope of the goodness of our God. But our hope can take a hit in our suffering. So how do we develop and rest in a hope that will sustain us even in our trials and difficult experiences? Lamentations 4 gives us a great answer!

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg leads into the third week of our study in the book of Lamentations. Lamentations 1 and 2 are dark chapters of pain and suffering. But the third chapter rejoices that, even in the midst of deep struggles, there is hope that rests in the goodness of God. This poem reminds us of three important lessons to help maintain our focus on God's goodness in every situation we encounter.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg continues our study in the book of Lamentations. Lamentations 1 presented the foundational realities that we must accept in regards to our suffering in this life. In chapter 2 Jeremiah expands on the trials of the people in Jerusalem, but we begin to see the glimmers of hope in how God deals with His people. In this we see for ourselves the joy of the promise of God's work in and through our own suffering.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg leads us into a new series called, "How?!" as we study the book of lamentations. We know God is in control of all things. But, sometimes, we look around and we struggle to feel it. How can we faithfully follow Jesus when we are struggling to see through the difficulty of the circumstances of our lives? The answer is in the lost art of lament. The book of Lamentations teaches us to embrace our trials with the comforting instruction of truth.

Pastor Ron Eckberg concludes a mini-series on church membership. Being a member of a church means far more than waiving a membership card or pledging our allegiance to a flag. It means living a life of sacrifice and service for the purpose of furthering the Kingdom of God and His church.  “The Kingdom of God”, Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “Is not a matter of talk but of power”. Are we demonstrating that power?

As followers of Christ (and therefore members of the universal church ) we are called to submit to the authority of a local church. With that membership comes a calling to sacrifice and service. But if we come with the right understanding of the church’s mission and attitude about it’s importance, there is great blessing to be found.

In Matthew 24 Jesus called on his followers to be wise about his return but to not be deceived by the evil that exists in the meantime. He concluded this lesson by telling us to be prepared. But what does preparation for the coming of our King look like? Jesus gives us the answer in Matthew 25.

Pastor Jonathan Eckberg teaches from Matthew 23 in our current series, "All Hail the King." The more regular a task becomes, the easier it is to do it without thought or intention. As we live out our faith, we ought never to practice thoughtless religion. But how do we protect our minds and hearts? We find the answer in Jesus' confrontation of the religious leaders in Matthew 23.

But we never really know what's going to happen next. In Matthew 24 Jesus reminds us of a long-term promise, but gives us some short-term instructions in how to live in the midst of the unknown.
