Romans Study 48: Loosed From the Law

Before we got saved we were bound to the law much like a wife is bound to her husband. In our case, it was a horrible marriage and the only thing the law could do was point out all the ways that we didn't measure up. However, we couldn't get a divorce either---the only way out was to wait until one of us died (till death do we part).  When Jesus saved us, He put our flesh to death and this freed us from our marriage to the law, so we were free to marry Jesus after we got saved! And Jesus has been better to us than any husband has ever been to his wife!

001: Jeremiah - An Overview of the Book (Survey)

Pastor Jeremy P. Wakefield has been preaching a series on the book of Jeremiah on Sunday evenings in 2025-2026. The series is called, "Compassion without Compromise." Jeremiah is known as "The Weeping Prophet." He was sent by God to the people of Judah to warn them of the impending destruction by Babylon as a result of their wickedness, idolatry, and continued rebellion against God. Jeremiah carries this burden faithfully though none heed his warnings.  This message offers a survey style overview to the Book of Jeremiah that will be beneficial to understanding the background and context of the upcoming study: Compassion without Compromise.

Romans Study 46: The Wages of Sin

As we close out the 6th chapter of Romans we see a universal law that is true from Genesis to Revelation---"the wages of sin is death".

    Duties Don't Conflict

There will never be two places that you HAVE TO be at the same time---it will either be one or the other. There may be two places you WANT to be at the same time, but there will never be two places that you HAVE TO be at the same time... ...because DUTIES DON'T CONFLICT!

    Declaring God's Judgment

There are two judgments in the Bible in which every single person in the world will face one of the two:  Great White Throne Judgment Judgment Seat of Christ No one will stand at both and no one will avoid both And which one an individual faces is determined by how they respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  18. -10

Revelation 13: Signs and Wonders Part 4

When you read through the plagues in Egypt and the heart of Pharoah growing harder and harder and refusing to let the people of Israel go, you are seeing a picture of the time of the Tribulation. God will be sending judgments to this earth and the heart of lost man is going to grow harder and harder.

  19. -11

    Blessed Is the Man

The blessed man in Psalm 1 does not walk, stand, or sit anywhere near sin or things that will cause him to stumble because he delights in the word of God and it keeps him firmly rooted and grounded like a tree planted by the rivers of water. That is the same way that God desires every believer to be to have success in the Christian life.

  20. -12

    Romans Study 46: Making Choices

When we get saved we are freed from sin but not free from our flesh. Our spirit is going to desire to do the things of the Lord, while our flesh is going to desire to go back to the old life. We don't have to obey our flesh but we DO have to choose between the two. Our entire Christian life is making choices between the flesh and spirit.

  21. -13

Romans Study 45: The New Man

In order for us to live the Christian life, there are three key words in Romans 6: KNOW, RECKON and YIELD.

  22. -14

    Declaring God's Word

A study on why the King James Bible was written the way that it was and proof that is the true word of God because God promised to preserve His word.

  23. -15

Romans Study 44: Our Two Natures

Even though our spirit and soul are saved after salvation, our flesh is not. We have living inside of us the "old man" and the "new man". These two natures inside of us are polar opposites and seek to get us to follow them. And this battle will never end until the rapture of the church or or death in this life.

  24. -16

Romans Study 43: Alive Unto God

When we get saved we are dead unto sin which means that sin no longer has a hold on us as believers. We are buried with Christ by baptism and we are spiritually circumcised from our flesh. However, God didn't leave us in that condition. He also breathed into our spirit the breath of life through the word of God.  Therefore, in order to live the Christian life, we can't just focus on the fact that we are dead unto sin, but we are also alive unto God through Jesus Christ.

Revelation 13: Signs and Wonders Part 3

When Moses and Aaron confronted Pharaoh and turned Moses' rod into a snake, Pharaoh's two magicians Jannes and Jambres performed the same sign miracle. How did they do that? These two magicians are a picture in the Bible of the Antichrist and the false prophet who will be able to perform real sign miracles for the purpose of deceiving the people.

  26. -18

Revelation 13: Signs and Wonders Part 2

Before Moses could ever approach Pharaoh as instructed by God to let Israel out of Egypt, Moses had to convince the children of Israel that he had indeed been sent by God. In order to convince them, God gave Moses and Aaron the ability to perform signs and miracles. All the signs and miracles were not to convince Pharaoh or the Egyptians of anything, but they were meant for the children of Israel only. In fact, God PURPOSELY hardened Pharaoh's heart so the He could put these plagues of Egypt on display for the children of Israel to see.

  27. -19

Revelation 13: Signs of the Times

The time of the Tribulation will be much different than the time of the church age because the gospel of the kingdom will be preached, accompanied by signs, wonders, and miracles. Today we are going to take a birds-eye-view of the time of Jesus' earthly ministry up to the church age and see what changed and why there are no signs and miracles today, buy why they will return during the Tribulation.

  28. -20

Revelation 13: Signs and Wonders Part 1

Before we can begin studying the signs and wonders that the Antichrist and the false prophet will perform during the Tribulation, we need to understand what it has to do with the nation of Israel. In this lesson we are going to look at the fact that signs are for the Jews, not for the Gentiles.

  29. -21

Romans Study 42: Baptized Into Christ Part 2

The reason why the subject of baptism is so confusing and is often taught wrong is because when the word "baptism" appears in the Bible, many automatically associate it with water baptism. The truth is there is more than one baptism in the Bible and today we are going to look at every one of them and how they differ from the spiritual baptism we Christians receive when we get saved.

  30. -22

Romans Study 41: Baptized Into Christ Pt. 1

When we get saved we are baptized into Christ. This is our spiritual baptism that takes place the moment we get saved and what puts us in the church body. We are put into Christ, and at the same time Christ is put into us. Our spiritual baptism is an operation of the Holy Spirit that guarantees that we can never lose our salvation, because the Holy Spirit is the "earnest" of our inheritance.

  31. -23

Romans Study 40: Dead to Sin Part 1

While the Bible says that our flesh is dead after we get saved, in reality, it's really alive. However, God wants us to "reckon" it as dead as we "calleth those things which be not as though they were". God wants us to push past all the physical evidence that we can SEE that we are alive and believe by faith that we CANNOT SEE that we are dead to sin and alive unto God.

  32. -24

The Bible Is Still Relevant Today

One of the most common arguments that people have today (even among professing Christians) : "Is the Bible relevant today? How can any of those "outdated stories" told thousands of years ago apply to what is going on today?  In this study we will answer that question...

  33. -25

Romans Study 39: Dead to Sin Part 1

When Jesus saved us, while breathing into our dead spirit the breath of God, and making us a son of God, the Lord also, at the same time put our flesh to death to help us not to do the sinful things that we used to do. Just like we get saved by faith in believing Jesus died, was buried, and rose again, we are sanctified and set apart in the Christian life by faith that we are dead, and our life is hid with Christ in God.

    After Death...

What happens after we die? There are many religions and different groups and individuals who have their opinion about what happens when we take our last breath, but this is what the Bible has to say about the matter of what happens AFTER DEATH...

Romans Study 37: The Two Adams Pt. 2

As we finish our study in Romans 5, we see the comparison and contrast between the first Adam and the last Adam (Jesus).

  37. -29

    Three Gardens

There are three prominent gardens in the Bible: The Garden of Eden The Garden of Gethsemane The Garden Tomb And every person in the world (saved or lost) is spiritually in one of these three gardens, and only one of these gardens will lead someone to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

  38. -30

Romans Study 36: The Two Adams Part 1

In today's lesson we start laying down some groundwork with the first Adam and the last Adam by comparing and contrasting them and how Jesus came to undo what the first Adam did.

  39. -31

Romans Study 35: Our State of Salvation

When we get saved it is not just a "one-and-done" type of operation. We have been saved from all of our PAST sins, we are presently BEING SAVED by the life of Jesus so that we can come to Him when we sin, and we are saved from the wrath to come and from any FUTURE sins that we commit. Our salvation through what Jesus did on the cross is perfect and it is complete!

  40. -32

Romans Study 34: God Commendeth His Love

One of the great mysteries of the Bible is not that God would love us so much that He would give up His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, but WHY He would do such a thing when we are helpless to do anything for Him to pay Him back for such a sacrifice.

  41. -33

Romans Study 33: Peace of God

While the phrase "peace with God" only appears once in the Bible (Rom 5:1), the phrase "peace with God" appears twice and there are conditions attached to them. We get peace WITH God the moment we get saved, but we don't get peace with God unless we LET the peace of God rule in our hearts. God will put us through trials and tribulations in our life so that we develop patience, experience, and hope. This is the process for Christian maturity and there NO shortcuts!

  42. -34

Romans Study 32: Peace With God

After establishing that we are justified by faith without works in Romans 4, Romans 5 begins to discuss the benefits that we have that go along with salvation.  In the first two verse we see that we have peace with God, we have access by faith, and we can rejoice in hope and it is ALL because of what Christ did for us with His work on the cross!

Romans Study 31: Written For Us Also

In the last portion of Romans 4, Paul directs our attention to the fact that the examples given in the chapter of Abraham and David's faith are given for our benefit to give us a picture of how we are saved by grace through faith without works, just like they were. The Bible also gives us many stories in the Bible that serve as pictures of our salvation and how we should live the Christian life.

  50. -42

Romans Study 30: Justified By Faith or Justified By Works?

There are many who believe that the Bible contradicts, and one of the places they claim it does is between Romans 4 and James 2. Romans 4 states that Abraham was justified by faith and James 2 states that Abraham was justified by faith and works. However, the seeming "contradiction" between these passages disappears when you rightly divide the word!
