Exeter Vineyard Church

We are a church based in and around the lovely city of Exeter, in the South West of England. Our highest priority at Exeter Vineyard is to create a loving, supportive and fun community with God at the centre and us all learning to involve him in all areas of our everyday lives. We think we will achieve this by doing what Jesus asked us to do: make disciples.

Overflowing Good News - 3. Brave Prayers

We’re looking at six incidents in the Book of Acts to see how the Good News about Jesus overflowed into new people, new areas and new opportunities. We’re asking how these incidents might help us see how God wants to overflow from our Hubs and everyday lives.Today Dave looks at brave prayers - the ones that need God to do something. We think about how we can learn and practice brave prayers and what it means to trust God who looks after his own reputation.

Overflowing Good News - 2. Loving Fellowship

We’re looking at six incidents in the Book of Acts to see how the Good News about Jesus overflowed into new people, new areas and new opportunities. We’re asking how these incidents might help us see how God wants to overflow from our Hubs and everyday lives.Today Dave looks at the normal practice of the first church. In many ways it seems pretty unremarkable, but there is something going on that makes it wildly cross-cultural and attractive to people. And this element? Love.

  3. 116

Everyday Interruptions - 4. Overcoming Obstacles

Alan continues our series looking at how so much of what we read about Jesus’ ministry in the Bible happened when he was interrupted. It helps us to see that God is far more active in our normal, everyday life than we might think.Today Jesus faces an interruption within an interruption and acts counterintuitively as he follows his Father’s leading.

Overflowing Good News - 1. Pentecost

We’re looking at six incidents in the Book of Acts to see how the Good News about Jesus overflowed into new people, new areas and new opportunities. We’re asking how these incidents might help us see how God wants to overflow from our Hubs and everyday lives.Today Dave looks at what has been called ‘the Birth of the Church’ - a fundamental change to how God connects to us and calls us into his saving project.

    Easter Sunday: Resurrection Reality

The resurrection changed everything, yet despite that we meet two dejected and disillusioned disciples unsure what it all means. This morning we look at Luke 24:13-32 and think about how we often find ourselves in similar situations - excited about Jesus, but living a life that hasn’t worked out like we hoped and unsure what God might be doing… if anything at all! We consider how to understand the tension between the reality of the resurrection and the reality of our lives.

  6. 113

Everyday Interruptions - 3. Tough Challenges

It’s easy to think that the amazing things Jesus did and said happened in religious settings - at the synagogue, in the temple, during formal teaching… but if we read the Gospels closely we see that so much happened when Jesus’ normal, everyday life was interrupted. Whether he was commuting, hanging out with friends, going for a stroll, at a dinner party or a wedding, Jesus was often interrupted and saw an opportunity to welcome the Kingdom of God into this interruption. In this series we celebrate the fact that we all have normal, everyday lives - which means we can learn to notice when interruptions might be Kingdom opportunities.Today we look at a passage in Luke 9:57-62, where Jesus seems to put off potential followers. We look at how Jesus wants to help the idealists realise it’s not so easy, and the pragmatists realise half-measures won’t do.As part of this the talk is interrupted to hear stories from Libby, Josh and Lizzy, where they tell us how their experience of following Jesus has meant embracing struggles and counterintuitive choices.

  7. 112

Everyday Interruptions - 2. Jesus and the Rich Young Ruler

In this series we celebrate the fact that we all have normal, everyday lives - which means we can learn to notice when interruptions might be Kingdom opportunities.Today Adam looks at the surgical precision of Jesus, cutting to the heart of the matter when he is interrupted by a very religious and very rich young man. We think about what issues might be getting in between us and God.

Everyday Interruptions - 1. Jesus and the Leper

In this series we celebrate the fact that we all have normal, everyday lives - which means we can learn to notice when interruptions might be Kingdom opportunities.Today Dave looks at the ‘mind-blowing’ interruption when a leper stops Jesus on an important journey and asks a profound question…

  17. 102
