<3onMySleeve Diaries (Vol. 13)
Here's Volume 13 of my emotionally expressive mix series. Ongoing since 2012, these mixes tell stories based on my most meaningful life experiences. The entire process of compiling, mixing, and relistening is cathartic to me. This is how I close a chapter in order to have a blank new page to write the next story on. About the narrative behind this mix: This mix tells a tale of a beautiful love that blossomed rapidly, but unfortunately ended just as quickly as it began. It seemed as though it was all in the blink of an eye. What a journey, its one I know I'll never forget. But the fact that things didnt turn out the way I hoped is okay with me. Sometimes, our final display of unconditional love toward someone is to simply let them go. We're all doing our best, and sometimes it just doesnt work out like we'd hoped. Lets see what the universe has planned next.... I hope you enjoy the musical journey! ✌️ (( Cover photo was captured by me in 2013 in Red Hook, Brooklyn NYC, as part of a series of images I captured using a wooden heart that I had found discarded in a trash pile. It was near some film studios so I think it was a theatrical prop of some kind. So I took that heart on a voyage around Brooklyn, looking for existing street art which the heart could be placed in front of, to create new art. The concept was to find a more suitable home for that discarded heart. C'est la vie! )) Here is a running Playlist of all the sets I've included in this series, including several sets that weren't officially part of the series, but are still relevant to my ongoing saga, and were compiled in the same manner by tapping into my memories and emotions: 💓onMySleeve Mix Diaries Playlist: https://on.soundcloud.com/TouCl28T5k8XjTF2Mn

Feeling.. Sunny (Feb 25, 2026)
Another impromptu journey into deep house. Deep, soulful, sundrenched, jazz-laced house music, with an uplifting and motivating spirit. As the sunsets come later each day, something within me awakens from winter hibernation: gratitude. So here's another "Feeling..." mix which portrays my inner weather forecast. Sunny and colorful. Orange, red, purple, and pink, to be exact. 😊 This one is all about momentum; embracing change, self-love, and building inner and outer strength, while embracing immense gratitude for each day. There's also an ode to the sunset at the end, as chasing the sunset is a daily ritual which keeps me grounded and anchored to the beauty in life. When in doubt, just look up to the horizon. There's nothing more hopeful than a beautiful sunset (or sunrise). (Cover photo captured Feb 22 ,2026 in Broomfield, CO, USA.)

Feeling.. Deeply (Feb 14, 2026)
Here I am, doing what I do. Healing through music. This mix flows through the range of feelings I've worked through over the past month or so. Music is my emotional medicine, the conduit through which I fully process life's challenges (and triumphs, too!) I'm grateful to have been gifted with this ability, rather than becoming stuck in place or avoiding the feelings all together, as many do. Around here, we go at those feelings head-on, dance through them, and let them go 🕊. Everything in life is temporary, especially emotions. Includes music by Larry Heard, Kerri Chandler, Fred Everything, Robert Owens, Steve Bug, Life On Planets, Subb-An, etc, etc. Through the maze of emotions, onward and upward we must go! ↗️✌️

"Farewell to NYC" Mix (Originally published by 5 Magazine Chicago) [Oct 30, 2017]
This mix was originally published by 5 Magazine Chicago as a podcast in November 2017. I recently discovered that the mix was removed at some point, so I made this original upload "public" for nostalgia purposes, because this was honestly one of the most heartfelt mixes I ever recorded. Back story: was planning to move to Berlin on Nov 1 2017, and woke up the day before my flights feeling the need to play some music that conveyed the intense emotions I was feeling in that moment (story of my life 😅) By the time the set was over (totally impromptu, I didn't plan anything prior to recording)... I was in shambles, tears were flowing on the mixer, but I felt a release through the music I played. Every track conveyed a message that exuded my intense emotions around leaving the city i called home for many years, and the friendships I had built along the way. The music seemed to come to me from somewhere outside of myself... it was perhaps the closest I have ever come to connecting with pure creative energy... LOVE. I ended up missing that flight because I should have been focusing on packing and preparing.. but that was fate. This was the end of my life as I knew it up until that moment... that chapter was over, and I had no idea about the madness that laid ahead.... that's what I'd call blissful oblivion.... In any event, I'm glad this moment in time was captured, and hope you all enjoy hearing it.

Macrodose Sessions (Vol .06)
Oops. :-) That wasnt a microdose.🫣 But sometimes you just need to ride the wave..... This volume of Macrodose Sessions was totally unplanned, in every way. What started out as a simple Saturday evening jam session with a little microdose 🍄 at home turned into this musical journey which manifested itself, and very accurately portrays the exact inner experience I had during the process. It was originally just meant to be a private recording, but after erroneously uploading it publicly in my weary state, upon listening back it became clear that it was simply meant to happen. Neither my Vek Neirbo or Kev Obrien personas take full credit for this set, the mushroom god really created it. I was merely its muse. 🍄 😅 Enjoy!

Vek Neirbo @ A&B's Rooftop (Brooklyn NYC) - July 4 2024
I had the honor of playing another fun summer party in Brooklyn this year on my good friends Andre and Brittany's rooftop terrace, where we celebrated the 4th of July under the fireworks. Here's a recording of a set I that I played from 2am till 530am or so, when the party was at its silliest. Weird at times, funky at others, often trippy, sporadically silly, occasionally deep, and sometimes just straight f%&@'d up beyond all recognition. Enjoy!

Liquified Soul (Vol. 3) - [ Soulful Liquid Drum & Bass Mix ]
Ready? Here we go. After 2 years, here's Volume 3 of my liquid drum & bass series. This set was recorded during a difficult period in my personal life, but it was very cathartic. Every track comes from the heart and was an accurate representation of what I was going through during that period. Music is my native language. Always from the heart.... that's how we roll around here, ya heard? One love.. ☝️❤️

Kev Obrien - 💔onMySleeve Diaries (Vol. 12)
Volume 12 of my ongoing mix diary series, in which I depict the feelings I'm going through during notably emotional times in my personal life. Recorded May 11, 2024 This series has been ongoing for 11 years, and is always focused mostly on vocal deep house. The lyrical content and musical vibes are intentionally selected to transmute and release feelings that are much more quickly accessible to me through music, than through any other other means of introspection. It's a cathartic process for me to program, play, and listen back to these musical diaries. This chapter includes a mix of deep house, some organic and minimal house, as well as some breaks, and progressive house, with lots of edits of iconic voices such as Sade, Fleetwood Mac, Amy Winehouse, Billie Eilish, Nina Simone, etc, etc. Every once in awhile, these mixes are done during happier days, but this wasn't one of those times. I did my best to bring some sunshine and optimism into the picture, but the heart feels how it feels, so this was a snapshot of a sad moment, forever caught in time. 🤷 This is my heart on my sleeve. Handle with care, and please enjoy. Full Series Playlist/anthology: https://on.soundcloud.com/PUWflPD9G5fkKalRwE

Vek Neirbo - Macrodose Sessions (Vol .05)
Welcome to Volume 5 of Vek Neirbo's 'Macrodose Sessions' mix series, where the focus is on creating an intentional and experiential musical journey, with a psychedelic twist. This voyage launches with pure minimal house during the first hour during the "come up" stage, before progressing into "peaking" territory during the second hour, with electrifying breaks, twisted minimal, tech house, as well as some acidic progressive elements. The final 30 minutes descends into a gradual come-down vibe, providing a soft and safe landing back into objective reality. This set features music from Audio Werner, Mike Shannon, J Gabriel, Max Jacobson, Sepp, Silat Beksi, Ted Amber, Wyro, YokoO & Bob Stevkowski, Youandewan, and many others. I hope you enjoy your trip! Set your intentions and enjoy the ride :-)

Vek Neirbo @ A&B's Rooftop, Brooklyn NYC (June-04-2023)
On 4th June 2023, I had the honor of playing several extended sets with friends during my good pals' Andre & Brittany's 24-hour+ marathon rooftop party, in Bedstuy, Brooklyn NYC. We had a perfect sound setup for what was an intimate gathering filled with good vibes, great music, perfect weather, and plenty of debauchery 👾🥳🫠. Here is one of my sets from during the early morning hours around 5am, under my Vek Neirbo alias. Trippy and groovy vibes in which I think you can hear and feel the debauchery of the party through the music. Features tunes from Arapu & Charlie, Sweely, Silat Beksi, Shonky, Cabanne, Ion Ludwig, Ted Amber, and many more. I also played a traditional Kev Obrien deep house/house set earlier in the party, which I was very happy with ( update: the house set is now available as a podcast via @electronicgroove... Listen to that one here [only if you're into deep, dubby, feel-good house music ;) ] https://on.soundcloud.com/GtH4A enjoy these raunchy tripped-out breakfast vibes. pretend you're us trying to eat breakfast sandwiches with dry throats at 10am, but forget I ever said that and just listen to the music, aight? #oversharing

Liquified Soul 2 (Liquid Drum & Bass Mix)
Here we are with Volume 2 of my Liquified Soul sessions mix series. Two hours of soulful liquid drum & bass - on the deep, jazzy, and melodic end of the spectrum. Some dubby heaters in there as well, for good measure. Compared to Volume 1, this one goes a bit more uptempo with higher energies -especially in the first hour, while the latter half goes deeper and more melodic which is more reminiscent of Volume 1. Featuring music from artists such as Calibre, LSB, Janaret, Zero T, FD, Goldie, Redeyes, RoyGreen & Protone, Atlantic Connection, Marcus Intalex, Syncline, and many more. Some prominent labels featuring in the mix are The North Quarter, Jazzsticks, Spearhead, Liquid V, Footnotes, Hospital Records, etc. The response to Volume 1 was astounding, so I hope you all enjoy this next chapter as well. Much love from my new home in Denver, Colorado. Kev

Vek Neirbo - Macrodose Sessions Vol .02
Chapter 2 of Vek Neirbo's Macrodose Sessions mix series, featuring tunes from Arapu, Boris Werner, Daniel Bell, De La Swing, Dorian Paic, Dubfound, Guy From Downstairs, Lizz, Swoy, Silat Beksi, and many more. Welcome to the world of Vek Neirbo. It's 5am in a basement filled with sweaty dancers. The room is completely dark, only lit by a faint red glow from LCD lights around the perimeter. Cigarette smoke and fog fill the room, while a massive Danley sound system pulsates eccentric and bass-heavy grooves through your body. You suddenly realize that the microdose of mushrooms you took earlier may not have been micro at all, as the moving human bodies surrounding you suddenly transform into dancing entities of light and love, while you become one with the music and the universe. The sun begins creeping through the basement windows slowly as the music shifts with the energetic pulses of the sun, slowly peeking it's warmth onto a degenerate's playground. Is the party over? Hell no, it's only just begun. :)

<3onMySleeve Diaries - Volume 11:11
After over 3 years since the last chapter, I present the latest iteration of my ongoing audio journal series, Volume 11:11. This is my heart on my sleeve, in audio format. I've often found that these mixes succeed in communicating my feelings far more eloquently than words, and they've often foreshadowed future events in my life as well. When I began this series, music was my only viable form of communication when it came to deep emotions, and so the series was born, and has been intermittently added to over the years during extraordinarily emotional periods in which I needed an outlet. Since 2013, I have managed to go through quite a bit of healing and am now equipped with a wider variety of communication tools, but there is still a unique message I feel I can convey more clearly through music, than any other form of communication. The backstory for this mix: in 2020, my ex-wife Ania and I reconciled our relationship and returned home to one another's hearts. Considering it was her who inspired the series in the beginning, I felt it was only fitting to tell the story of our miraculous journey back to one another, in the same format I used to tell the story of our breakup. Our reuniting only occurred as a result of her going through a near-death brain cancer experience in 2019, which allowed us an opportunity to reunite to see one another in a new light, after 7+ years apart on our own individual healing journeys. This mix is dedicated to Ania and tells the story of our journey back to one another, while also harkening back to the past as well. After all, it is my strong belief that music, like love, is eternal. I hope the music can reach the hearts of those who need to hear its message most. Much love, and thanks for all of your loving ears all these years. -Kev

Livin' The Vibe 04: Brooklyn (feat Akufen, Detroit Swindle, Black Loops, J Gabriel + More)
Continuing this series I began last summer during my travels, each of these Livin' The Vibe mixes have been compiled and recorded in different cities around the world, along my journeys while exploring the vibes and cultures of each city. After doing mixes last year in Amsterdam, Prague, and Vienna, I figured this summer I should start off in my hometown before I ship back off across the pond again in a few weeks. Deep vibes here, mostly all new music, inspired stylistically by rooftop sunset vibes and the free-wheelin' summer energy that permeates around Brooklyn as the temps rise! Music from Akufen, Detroit Swindle, Black Loops, J Gabriel, iO Mulen, Scott Diaz, Harry Romero, and lots more. Enjoy!

Livin the Vibe 03: Vienna (Classics, oldies, lifetime faves)
The mix I did in Vienna for my Livin The Vibe series contains almost zero "electronic music" outside of a few favorites. This is more of a crudely mixed mixtape than anything, its me mixing my "life music".. music that's stood the test of time and feels as if it is being sung by me internally, from people like Louis Armstrong, Bill Withers, Nirvana, Lionel Ritchie, Elliott Smith, 2pac, Gladys Knight, Tears For Fears, Alt-J, etc. It's music that makes me cry. Life makes me cry often. That's how I spend my days, often. Walking the streets of random historical cities, crying behind my sunglasses. Tears of joy, tears of love, tears of despair, and tears of those long gone but not forgotten. Cheers. "Then I look at you, and the world is alright with me. Just one look at you, and I know it's gonna be a lovely day." - Bill Withers

Livin The Vibe 02 - Prague
The second mix in my worldwide travel series which I am recording on the fly during my travels. Following a deeply introspective and rather melancholic trip and mix from Amsterdam, my overall state of being definitely felt as if I was leaving the darkness and embracing the light during my 4 days spent in the lovely city of Prague. The mix features mostly newly released music from artists such as Steve Bug & Cle, Francis Harris, Lauer, dOP, DJ Boring, Erefaan Pearce feat Lazarusman, Chuffing Buffy, and also features classics from Sascha Funke and one of my all time faves from the Commodores to finish things off. And more, obviously 😊

This is my heart, in audio format. ❤

❣OnMySleeve X: Fear and Loathing In New York City
This is the tenth mix in the <3onMySleeve mix series. The Title is pretty self-explanatory for anybody who's read the book or seen the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This set was recorded in the darkest hour of my life. The details of my state of mind are not really something I feel like divulging, all I will say is that it was recorded on my phone using a DJ app while I was walking around Brooklyn, in the rain, very late at night. The only question is, who is it directed toward? At the time I recorded it with someone else in mind, someone who'd taken advantage of my kindness while I was in a very vulnerable state. But since this dark night of the soul, I realized it was really intended for myself, a subconscious message which I was unable and unwilling to realize that I needed to hear. Its a very sloppy and eratic mix using FX styles Ive neved used before and likely never will again. I've tried re-recording this to perfect it, numerous times.. as I felt the track selections were good, and I thought the recording was too raw and rough to post. However, after several failed attempts I realized I was trying to do the impossible. The imperfections are part of the message. The erratic nature of my mixing and use of FX tell a story that are completely separate from the overall message, and so I realized after several attempts to try to mix the same tracks at a later date always ended up to my pressing stop knowing that despite perfect mixing, something was off. Sometimes we need to be true as artists and just unleash the rawest form of ourselves, otherwise the moment is completely lost in time. I realized that trying to cleanse this hotbed of sin only diluted the entire essence of insanity that this mix depicts. The more I've listened to it, the more my entire idea of its message has changed and the more I've realized it's not something I could ever even consider replicating. Its probably one of the most honest and true to myself mixes that I've ever recorded, all in my darkest hour. And I'm not using hyperbole when I say "darkest hour"... it truly was exactly that. Enjoy!

Throwback! Sept-26-2008 - ProtonRadio - DJMix Network Presents
Here is the first of a number of old throwback mixes I have found which I am uploading to add to the archives. This was in my stage where most of what I was playing was more "techno" focused -- it was the sound of the time, and though I may be known more for house these days, versatility is an important aspect to remember as a DJ... so, techno: never leave home without it!

Kev Obrien @ TBA Brooklyn NYC - Oct-18-2017
I've been waiting years for a magical night like this, where the stars aligned perfectly and I could be able to truly play everything I could imagine and even some tunes which I have been yearning to play for YEARS but never had the right crowd, in the right place at the right time, to fit in. Nothing felt forced and seeing my favorite room in Brooklyn that alive and in tune with whatever I threw out there felt amazing. many many thanks to TBA, Newhouse Grooves and the Momentum/Rite of Wednesdays crew for having me back one last time before I set sail on my nomadic voyage.... One love. - Kev

LiLoveLettrs2u #1 (sent from Brooklyn NY USA 11226)
This is dedicated to and intended for YOU. You, meaning whoever happens upon this mix and listens to it. Love for the music has been the defining force and feeling which has led me down the path I have chosen over the past year + after my return to music -- and in a world so full of hate and discouraging acts of everything that is the antithesis of love being blasted in our faces via social and mainstream media outlets... I feel we all need to reminded that we are LOVED. So, this is my first love letter to YOU. It is delivered to you In all of it's imperfect glory, as I recorded it live on a very late morning and chose after much deliberation to release it as-is; mistakes be damned... because as with everything in life, we are human and even love has it's imperfections and shouldn't be perceived as anything perfect. I decided to start this series a few weeks ago when a chance encounter online led me to realize that sometimes we all need a little more LOVE in our lives. Sending a message to a complete stranger to remind them that they MATTER and they are loved can make all the difference in their lives, if even for but a fleeting moment or period in time. (coincidentally the encounter occurred on the EXACT Sept 25 date that the cover-art's postmark indicates, which was the only one I could find on Google (little synchronicity to go along with a lot of love means something!) The love I speak of here isn't of the romantic nature as we often seem to correlate the word, though it's up to the listener, you, to interpret it however it best suits you, as the recipient. With all my love, Kev Obrien Oct 9, 2017

A Decade of synchroNYCity: 2007-2017 Mix (4 hrs: Jimpster, MCDE, John Tejada, Henrik Schwarz etc)
I decided to do a decade mix filled with music from the past ten years that I have lived in New York. The approaching end of summer tends to make me feel nostalgic, so here you go. Four hours of pure deep house spanning my collection, all released between 2007-2017, within the ten years and summers I've spent in this beautiful concrete jungle which we call New York City. I did this mix this afternoon totally impromptu and it's really one of my favorite sets that I've done, as it includes so many of my favorites from such a wide time-span. **disclaimer: at some point during these 4 hours of mixing, there was one technical slip-up in mixing which I had to bail out on to keep the ball rolling. I am human. and there's no way in hell I would go back and be able to re-record an entire set that I played on the fly, in order to project some false image of perfection to the world. I can't remember where the slip up is, and it really doesn't matter (to me) -- let's be honest, laptop DJs and sync buttons have taken something away from the art of DJing as well as dancing. It used to be claps and fist bumps to hear a DJ working their way out of a bad situation to fix a mix that veered off the tracks. Nowadays? Chinstrokes and sighs abound when someone is even slightly loose on a mix. Just stating facts, because we shouldn't be ashamed of our errors, we should see them as indicators of our being human, not computer. Includes music from Henrik Schwarz, Jimpster, Jay Shepheard, Martin Dawson (RIP), John Tejada, Christian Prommer, Eagles & Butterflies, Niko Schwind, Erefaan Pearce, Mr. V, Manuel Tur, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Daniel Steinberg, Zepherin Saint, Justin Martin, Dplay, Chopstick & JohnJon, Ron Basejam, Soukie & Windish, Keira, DJ Metatron and more. In November, I'll be setting sail for Europe (Berlin) to be closer to colleagues, clients, etc. It's going to be a bittersweet move, as I love this city dearly (Brooklyn, namely), and the past year has been one of pure magic, following 2 and a half years away from music, it's been filled with surprises around every corner, and amazing friends both near and far have been gained, while some others have moved in the direction of their dreams as well.

Kev Obrien Brooklyn Bounce Mix Aug 2017
Just an impromptu mix I threw together of the type of stuff I like to play to make people dance and whatnot. FriskyRadio: Artist of the Week 06.20.17- Kev Obrien
I had the honor of being FriskyRadio's Artist of the Week at some point, last month. The lads asked me to do a two-hour mix. It's summer time, so this mix is horny as fuck. In the summer time, the party begins when the horns sound. Until you hear horns playing, the party has not begun. Period. Tell all your friends. full tracklisting & info: https://www.friskyradio.com/show/artist_of_the_week/06-20-20171/kev-obrien-at-06-20-2017 Download the fuck out of those horns. This is science, it's fact. People often respond with a disgustingly stupid "huh?" type answer when I present them with this obviousness, but then either minutes, hours, or days later, always come back to me with the same resounding response: "OMG, I Never noticed all of those horns....thats crazy.... wow" - there you go. Horns. Everywhere. They're all yours. So now we get it. It's not a fucking party until there are horns. Right?! Kthx. I love all of you, because you're all amazing. Yes, you! <3 subscribe to frisky, yo! https://www.friskyradio.com/subscription

Kev Obrien Live @ Align Brooklyn - July 08 2017 (DJ-ed Yoga Session )
When the opportunity to DJ a live yoga session sprang about, I was immediately intrigued. The experience was as lovely and challenging as I thought it would be, for there's a fine balance between crafting a set that enhances one's experience during their session, and one that could damper one's experience or become a distraction. I think I towed the line well, and the feedback from participants confirmed this. Thanks to Align Brooklyn studio for having me! Here is the set, minus a few minutes as I forgot to hit record during the first song. For more information on Align Brooklyn's services and sessions, check out http://www.alignbrooklyn.com --- they're amazing people! Namaste' :-)

indepenDANCEdazed 2017 feat Henrik Schwarz, Crazy P, Till Von Sein, , Chloé, Joris Voorn etc
On the eve of officially announcing the launching of eyedyllic music, a special boutique digital and limited vinyl imprint, I decided to do as I did last year and record a mix on independence day. As always you can expect as many classics as you can new records, and this one may be the first set I've released with 3, count em!, 3 Henrik Schwarz cuts... Recorded at home in Brooklyn following an inspiring set from Soul Clap and Wolf+Lamb, the funk is nasty but the groove moves on. As always, there's a bit of a story to tell here, but it's mostly about good damn music.

Throwback! - Kev Obrien - Stranjj Selections - June 2009
Here is a real throwback which was not previously in my archives, it was actually the most popular mix I think I've ever done at the time, it somehow ended up reaching somewhere upwards of 120,000 downloads or so, which was weird for a guy in his parent's house making music on a shitty PC laptop. Exposure NYC was run by Lee Johnson, and I am pretty sure that most of the guys who also had a show on that channel are already well known or on their way to becoming such, in this little global electronic music bubble we live in. Dont remember tracklist, but enjoy a trip back in time 8 years to June 2009, when labels like Freak n Chic, 8bit, and people like deadmau5 were still not yet THAT famous. :) thanks to @debbierose for providing this long lost missing piece of my archives!
