 4. Dropfellas - Shape Dub ‘FKOF began as a blog in 2010, in part, as a way of profiling the artists I was meeting while going to dubstep nights in London during my time at university. One of the first shows I was going to on a regular basis was promoted by two low end enthusiasts from Torino in Italy. It was at Dark Side of London (DSOL) where I initially met Tony Content (when he was still playing out as Drama), Eddy Seven, Sai, the Fused Forces boys and a number of other producers and DJs who would go on to lay the foundations for what would become FKOF. It’s safe to say that – without DSOL founders Paolo and Marco aka Dropfellas – we probably wouldn’t be here today. ‘The three of us reconnected in late 2024 when Paolo and Marco hit me up saying they were back in the studio working on new material. I even dug up an old flyer from the 2011 Easter bash (which has the FKOF logo on!) after moving house. We kept talking, Korrupt got involved on the A&R side of things when we got some demos, and things fell into place for what’s dropping today… ‘The ‘Bowels’ EP, ‘FKOFd063’ has been a labour of love for the four of us, and we’re really stoked on how the music’s ended up. The record spans four tunes that sit across the beats, bass and space ethos we’ve always worked with. Having been testing the record since we got the masters back from Beau 12 ish months ago, we can confirm all four bang. The more stripped back inclusions bring the pure bass weight earlier on the record and more of the stepper vibes close things out, with all evoking what Thursday nights at DSOL used to be like 15yrs or so ago on Shoreditch High Street. If we had to choose, however, the title track ‘Bowels’ is probably our pick of the bunch.

FKOF Premiere! 'Industrial reggae' imprint @menace_systems have lined up FKOF fam @dayzero_jp for their sixth EP - the aptly titled 'CV Mirror'. The EP's a continuation of this dancy vibe we're really rating rn and we absolutely love this tune - 'Density Control'. "Balancing spacious dub modernism and angular techno exploration, Japan's Dayzero lands on Menace with a wide-ranging and brilliantly rendered four-track EP. "Tsuyoshi Hamada has been a prolific presence in the Japanese bass music scene for more than 10 years, turning his hand to all kinds of dubstep variations for local and international labels. He's just as comfortable dealing in roots-referencing steppas as he is stripping back to a raw, synthetic core, and that makes him a perfect fit for Menace's own bassweight mission. In our heyday, we were releasing EPs every month - often off the back of a fairly quick gut reaction on receiving demos. Did the material fit FKOF; was it pure beats, bass and space vibes? Here we are in 2025, still doing the same thing. And we're welcoming two nascent 140 artists to the family with a decent flag in the sand for why you should get to know the Berlin-based duo... 'OTTO & SAIBOD joined forces a while ago under the ZYCH moniker to release on labels like Locus Sound, TooMuchCollective and more. When we somehow ended up on their dubs mailer, a few tunes caught our collective ear and here (as it often goes) we are a few months later with an EP. 'FKOFd062' opens with 'Michael Craw', laying the foundations of what comes throughout the record. Sparsely built, but well furnished, tunes with crisp percussion, heavyweight sub behaviour and eyes down, fingers up atmospheres.
