For All the Writers & Artists | An Interview With Denise Trull
Happy Feast Day of St. Joseph the Worker! In honor of this special day, I’m thrilled to share this episode with you. This episode is dedicated to all the writers and artists who could use a little inspiration for their work. I had the pleasure of speaking with one of my favorite writers, Denise Trull, who writes for publications such as “Theology of Home”, SpiritualDirection.com, DappledThings.org, and on her own Substack called, “The Inscapist”.Denise is the writer I aspire to be one day. She has a unique ability to notice details that many of us might miss, and to call them out in a way that makes you pause and simple say, “Wow”. She is humble, kind and just an all-around wonderful person. Can you tell I’m a fan? It was absolutely delightful speaking with her about her writing, her daily inspirations, and her processes. If you have an old manuscript that has been collecting dust or a painting you’ve been wanting to finish, then this episode is for you. Listening to Denise will inspire you to pick it up, and to try again even for a few minutes. We need artists in our lives, and especially ones that points us to the Master Artist. Be sure to subscribe to her Substack (https://substack.com/@theinscapist/posts) for a daily dose of beauty! Also, here is her reflection about Madame Benjamin (https://substack.com/@theinscapist/p-195520185) that we talk about in the episode. To connect with Valentina, visit: fiatcareercoaching.com.

From U.S. Army to College President | An Interview with Dr. Jeffrey Talley
Dr. Jeffrey Talley never planned to be the President of Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina. He assumed after spending 34 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve he would continue his civilian career in the corporate world leading organizations. However, God had other plans. Listening to Dr. Talley’s story reminded me of the importance of holding our plans loosely and trusting in God’s perfect plan for our lives. Dr. Talley is a Benedictine Oblate and lives out a rule of life seeking God through prayer and work. It was insightful to hear how he strives to bring order out of disorder in his daily work and to point others to Christ. If you have a young person in your life discerning where to go to college or if you would like to hear from someone striving to keep Christ at the center of his life, then this episode is for you.To learn more about Belmont Abbey College visit: https://belmontabbeycollege.edu. Padre Pio and You | An Interview with Mary O'Regan
There are few saints in the world that have had the magnitude of impact as Padre Pio. Born in 1887 in Pietrelcina, Italy he later became a Capuchin friar, priest, stigmatist and mystic. He had the ability to read souls, bilocate and God worked many healings through him. During World War II, many allied pilots even saw him appear in front of their airplanes with arms outstretched, preventing them from bombing the town and monastery where he lived in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy!Although I’ve always heard these remarkable stories about him and been in awe of his life, it wasn’t until I experienced an answered prayer through his intercession that made me realize how close the saints in heaven really are to us. This reality became even more profound when I read Mary O’Regan’s new book, “Padre Pio and You”, which details his incredible life and ministry. O’Regan is a gifted writer with a remarkable ability to draw readers into the story and feel like they are truly there. I felt like I was watching a movie each time I picked up her book and began to encounter the person of Padre Pio in a personal way. Mary’s own life story is fascinating and in this podcast episode she shares how she first met Padre Pio and the near-death experience she had that completely changed her life. This book is a true masterpiece and great testament to Padre Pio’s life. I highly recommend you pick up a copy if you love learning about the lives of saints and want to learn more about this incredible intercessor in heaven! You can watch this episode on YouTube or listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. "The Divine Presence," An Interview with Susan Joy Bellavance
One of the things I enjoy about hosting this podcast is speaking with authors and learning what inspired them to write their books. For example, I was thrilled to learn that a miracle took place that led to author, Susan Joy Bellavance, being able to publish her new children’s book, “This Little Light of Thine”. The best part is the miracle involved a Nebraska priest and led Bishop Conley of the Diocese of Lincoln to endorse the book. (I used to live in Nebraska for many years and have a lot of respect for the bishop and priests there, so it made it extra sweet to read the book.)In “This Little Light of Thine”, readers young and old are drawn in through the beautiful illustrations to the sanctuary lamp, burning brightly in every Catholic Church, all pointing to the true presence. It’s a delightful book to read and has our two-year-old’s stamp of approval. In this episode, Susan shares about the amazing miracle and her desire to start a Eucharistic revolution, reminding everyone of the power of Christ’s presence in every tabernacle. “Newman for Our Time,” An Interview with Msgr. Laurence Spiteri
Would you describe yourself as a truth-seeker? Would you be willing to leave a religion you have always followed and a career that elevated you to the heights of prestige and influence because you found the truth? That was what Saint John Henry Newman (1801-1890) did to the shock and anger of many. His conversion from Anglicanism to Catholicism caused a religious and political stir in his day, and he lost many friends and family members in the process. However, he gained an eternal crown and a legacy that still reverberates in history over a century later. On November 1st, 2025, Newman was declared a Doctor of the Church due to his outstanding contribution to theology, education and critical topics such as the relationship between faith and reason and the critical nature of conscience. I first learned about him over 10 years ago after reading this touching quote of his:“God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission. I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good; I shall do His work. I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it if I do but keep His commandments. Therefore, I will trust Him, whatever I am, I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him, in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him. If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him. He does nothing in vain. He knows what He is about. He may take away my friends. He may throw me among strangers. He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me. Still, He knows what He is about.”― John Henry NewmanI had the absolute joy of speaking with Msgr. Laurence Spiteri about his new book, “Newman for Our Time” about St. John Henry Newman. Msgr. Spiteri is a priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, California and currently works in Rome as the Prelate Auditor of the Roman Rota at the Vatican and Commissioner of ratum-non-consumatum cases. He holds doctorates in biblical studies, psychology, and canon law, and a specialization in international law regarding the Church-state relationship. Not only is he knowledgeable about Newman’s life, but he is incredibly witty and had me laughing through parts of the interview. I hope you too will appreciate his sense of humor as you listen or watch.Tune into this episode to learn more about:John Henry Newman’s journey of faith from Calvinism to Anglicanism to CatholicismHis views of the role of the laity in the churchThe infallibility of the Pope and what that really meansWhy Catholics and non-Catholics love NewmanWhy every Pope (except for two) has cited Newman and his writings ever since he became Catholic You can also watch this episode on YouTube. This post includes affiliate links. To connect with Valentina, visit https://fiatcareercoaching.com/.

“The Apparitions of Jesus,” An Interview with Michael Lichens
One of the many things I love about being Catholic is reading the lives of the saints. Reading their varied stories always reminds me there are many paths to heaven and holiness isn’t cookie-cutter.One book that highlights this diversity is the “World of Jesus’ Apparitions” by Wincenty Laszewski, a Polish theologian. It is a beautiful compendium of Christ’s apparitions to various saints and mystics throughout history and around the world. However, it’s not a book that merely shares wild and fascinating stories about these holy men and women and their miraculous encounters with Jesus. Instead, reading each encounter felt a little like what I imagine the disciples felt on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:32). As I read each page, my heart burned with a renewed desire to be a saint, to love well and to suffer heroically. In this episode, I interview author Michael Lichens, who wrote the forward of the book about his major take-aways.I highly recommend this episode and this book if you are looking for a renewal to your faith through inspiring stories of men and women who went before us, some not too long ago. “Praying with Sacred Art,” An Interview with Derek Rotty
Every year when Advent comes around, I’m always at a loss as to how to live the season well. It arrives on the heels of Thanksgiving where I’m stuffed with good food and gratitude, and right before Christmas, forcing me to slow down when I want to rush right into decorating and snapping my fingers to “Jingle Bells”.This is why I was so thrilled to read Derek Rotty’s new book, “Praying with Sacred Art: Pondering the Mystery of Salvation through VISIO Divina”. Through this book, he walks through each of the liturgical seasons, beginning with Advent, using historic paintings as a form of prayer. It was a unique experience placing myself in these classic works of art and seeking to encounter Christ in the process. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a good resource to help you fruitfully enter into the Advent season and beyond.Derek’s love of art and history is contagious, and I think you’ll enjoy listening to his description about certain artwork. This is one episode where you’ll want to watch the video so you can see the paintings we’re referencing. “Spiritual Warfare Q&A,” An Interview with Dr. Dan Schneider
Have you ever read a book that stopped you in your tracks? A book that provided clarity and yet made you question past and present decisions? Even a book that left you with more questions and a greater yearning for truth than when you started? This was my recent experience after reading “Spiritual Warfare Q&A” by Dr. Dan Schneider and Jesse Romero. I underlined, Googled, texted my spiritual director, spoke extensively with my husband and prayed continuously about the topics in this book during and after reading this book. It was that impactful!Written in question-and-answer form, this book outlines topics such as exorcisms, deliverance ministry, the laying on of hands during prayer ministry, the occult, magic, horror films, yoga, haunted houses, Freemasonry, and much more.It is well researched and filled with anecdotes from real exorcisms. However, the book is not meant to glorify the work of the enemy, but to give readers a clear understanding of the reality of the spiritual realm and the battle for our souls. I know that might sound dramatic, but if you have ever been involved in any form of healing and deliverance prayer ministry or plan to be, I recommend you read this book. It will challenge what you know, enlighten you on what you may not know, and will leave you wanting to learn more. Dr. Schneider is a wealth of knowledge on these topics, and it was a joy to speak with him about this book. He regularly assists with exorcisms and is a founding member of Liber Christo, a movement in conjunction with Fr. Chad Ripperger, SMD which provides tools and resources for priests and laity working in the apostolate of exorcism.I’ll be honest, I’m still processing what I read in this book and discerning next steps and will continue to take it all to prayer. But this episode is for you if you want to learn more about the:Role of authority in spiritual warfareHow to pray for healing (prudently)Importance of spiritual order in the homePower of the priesthood and the anointed hands of a priestImpact of mental prayer on spiritual combatEpisode Resources:The Liber Christo Method: A Field Manual for Spiritual Combat Holy League InstituteDid you know you can also watch this episode on YouTube? “I Will Come to You,” An Interview with Jamie McAleer
“Live in the mess.”This is my favorite lines from my conversation with Jamie McAleer, the author of the new book, "I Will Come to You: A Story of Adoption and the Relentless Love of God”. The book chronicles Jamie and her husband Jack’s journey to adopt their third child, Alexender, from Russia. It is a journey filled with twists and turns and many steps forward and backwards. I love Jamie’s honest sharing of her struggles to trust God in the process and how her faith was stretched throughout the experience. It is a heart-warming and encouraging read that will leave you feeling desired, chosen, wanted and loved by God. One fun fact that plays into the story is that Jamie and her husband Jack were major players in the growth of the Krispy Kreme dynasty! I won’t be mad if you feel like eating a donut after reading this book ;). Speaking to Jamie felt like sitting down to a warm cup of coffee with my grandmother. I think you’ll find her endearing and a pleasure to listen to. To connect with Valentina, visit: https://fiatcareercoaching.com/

“Experiencing the Healing Power of Christ,” An Interview with Dr. Mary Healy
I don’t know your situation as you read this, whether you’re in good health or in poor. Whether you’re overflowing with peace or barely getting through the day. Wherever you find yourself, I want you know that Jesus is with you. I’ve seen broken bones restored, shortened legs extended, vertigo lifted, and painful memories healed. Not just once, but over and over again. I’ve also experienced when physical healing doesn’t happen, even after many prayers and much time has passed. It is hard to wrestle with that and understandable to question where God is in the midst of that.I had the supreme privilege of speaking with bestselling author and international speaker, Dr. Mary Healy about this topic of healing. Dr. Healy is a Professor of Scripture at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit and a woman I greatly admire! She has a gift of preaching the Gospel in relatable ways and desires to bring everyone into a deep encounter with Christ. In this episode we spoke about:How to experience more of the power of the Holy Spirit in your lifeModern miracles and healingsThe purpose of healingBe sure to listen to the end where Dr. Healy prays for healing for all listeners. "Faith Through Fitness," An Interview with Chase Crouse
Exercising on a consistent basis is hard. For years I’ve told myself that I couldn’t possibly squeeze in any time to exercise while juggling life as a stay-at-home-mom to an active two-year old and managing our home and small business.Plus, I reasoned, isn’t going up and down the stairs with a load of laundry considered cardio? Or hauling our son in and out of his car seat resistance training? Alas, the answer is no. I’ve come to see that I need to prioritize my physical health and the more I make it a priority the greater the ripple effects. I’ve noticed the days that I run, I am more energized throughout the day, I have increased patience and charity, and I carry a spirit of gratitude during my time of prayer. This is why I was so thrilled to read Chase Crouse and Dan Burke’s new book, “The God of Endurance: A Practical Guide for Incorporating Exercise and Nutrition into your Spiritual Journey”.This very concrete book demystifies how to build a solid exercise routine that you can actually stick to and enjoy, the science behind building muscle and losing fat, and why taking care of the body God gave you is actually good for your soul. It was fun speaking with Chase about what led him to start his company Hypuro Fit and what led him to integrate Theology of the Body with fitness. So, tune into this episode if you want to learn more about:The best kind of food to fuel your body How exercising can help you combat habitual sinWhat happens to your muscles after age 40Why sleep is critical when trying to build muscleI highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a reset on exercising or if you could use some ideas on how to improve your current exercising routine. This post includes affiliate links. “The Intersection of Faith and Women's Wellness,” An Interview with Leanne Jarvis
Many women I know have at one time or another felt at odds with their bodies. Whether it has done things we wish it wouldn’t do, like get too wide or too thin, or presented symptoms we didn’t understand, our bodies oftentimes feel like a mystery.I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Leanne Jarvis who is on a mission to equip every woman with the knowledge, community, and natural care she needs to live her dignity fully so she can flourish in her body. Leanne is a certified fertility awareness and hormone coach and is the founder of RoseFem, where she provides holistic, science-based solutions for every stage of a woman’s reproductive journey, from adolescent to the post-menopausal years. In this episode we dive into the world of women’s wellness, as Leanne describes why it’s important to understand our hormonal cycles, the effect of stress on our bodies, and how to have a greater appreciation for our body. Although this episode is geared towards women, we talk about the invaluable role that men have in these discussions as they support their spouses, sisters or female friends along this journey. You can watch this episode on YouTube or listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. "The Temperaments of the Saints,” An Interview with Rosemary McGuire Berry
You are called to be a saint. You are not called to be a saint like Thomas Aquinas or Mary Magdelene, but you are called to be you, uniquely you. I write this, and yet I sometimes fall into the trap of reading the lives of the saints or of some holy person and thinking, “Well, I can’t fast 10 hours a day like that person,” or “My perfectionism and natural playfulness is out of place in the spiritual life.”And yet, I am reminded after conversations like this one with Rosemary McGuire Berry that God uses the messy and brilliant aspects of our nature to make as holy. Our weaknesses are not a hinderance to our holiness, but stepping stones to encountering Him. Rosemary is the author of a new book titled, “Piety and Personality: The Temperaments of the Saints”. In it she shares stories of common and not-so-common saints who wrestled with aspects of their personality and used it all for the glory of God. Tune into this episode if you’re curious about:The 4 temperament styles and what yours might beWhy understanding the temperament styles of others might help improve your relationshipsHow each temperament style can overcome depressionWhy joy is so importantTo connect with Rosemary, visit her Substack: Tea, Talk & Tattered Pages: https://www.RosemaryMcGuireBerry.substack.comOr follow her on Instagram @rosemary.writer.To connect with Valentina, visit Fiat Career Coaching, LLC.

"Saints Among Us Part 2: Nathan Raun," An Interview with Teresa Raun
One person whom I would love to meet one day in heaven is Nathan Raun. He was a 13-year-old boy from Lincoln, Nebraska who died of brain cancer in 1998. He loved sports and God and had a natural sense of humor that put others at ease. Although Nathan died over 27 years ago, many people, (me included), have been recipients of answered prayers through his intercession in heaven. I had the honor of speaking with his mother, Teresa Raun, whose mission is to share Nathan’s inspiring story with the world. In this episode, Teresa shares about Nathan’s 10-month journey through cancer and the many miraculous stories of people whose lives he has changed, many years after his death. To connect with Valentina, visit Fiat Career Coaching, LLC.

"Saints Among Us Part 1: Carlo Acutis," An Interview with Mary Beth Bracy
What can a 15-year-old videogame loving Italian boy teach us about living and dying well? That was my question when I began reading the book, “God's Influencer: Holy Advice from St. Carlo Acutis,” by Andrea Acutis and Antonia Salzano, the parents of Carlo. I began the book skeptical as to how I could possibly learn from him (prideful I know), to getting a few pages into the book and realizing the tremendous gift and example of Carlo’s life. He was a humble and normal athletic boy who was in love with God. He was compassionate towards the poor, an effective and natural evangelizer, and someone I hope our son can one day emulate. Reading his journal entries and various accounts of his life from his parents helped me to see why he is considered by many to be “the greatest saint of the century,” and why he was nicknamed “a Thomas Aquinas in blue jeans.”I had the great joy of speaking with author Mary Beth Bracy, about the book and to share the stories that most touched us about his life. “Healing Through the Sacraments,” An Interview with Dr. Bob Schuchts
What if I told you that it was possible to experience the sacraments in a deeper way? That the sacraments of baptism and holy communion could heal deep-seated wounds of rejection or abandonment respectively? My guest for today is, Dr. Bob Schuchts, author of the book, “Be Transformed: The Healing Power of the Sacraments,” and founder of the John Paul II Healing Center in Tallahassee, Florida. In his book, Dr. Bob provides insight into how each of the seven sacraments (baptism, holy communion, confirmation, holy orders, matrimony, reconciliation, and the anointing of the sick) heal specific wounds we all face. These wounds of rejection, abandonment, powerlessness, confusion, fear, shame, or hopelessness hinder us from recognizing our true identity and block us from living out our true mission. However, God in His mercy, has provided the 7 sacraments as antidotes to these wounds. If you would like to experience a greater release of the power of the sacraments in your life, I highly recommend this book and this episode.Resources Mentioned in this Episode:John Paul II Healing CenterRestore the Glory Podcast- Episode 122: Faith that Heals w/ Fr. "Novena for Work - Day 1"
Are you, or someone you know looking for a new job? Today begins our novena praying for work through the intercession of St. Josemaria Escriva. To follow along on this novena each day, please subscribe to my channel. To download the full text of the novena on the St. Josemaria Institute website, click here. A novena is prayer repeated for nine consecutive days, asking for God’s provision for a specific situation. I prayed this novena several times over the past 10 years when I was looking for work. Although I can’t promise you that you will receive a job offer by the end of the novena, I can promise you that you will receive tremendous graces and peace in the process. St. Josemaria Escriva (January 9, 1902 – June 26, 1975) was a Spanish priest who founded Opus Dei (The Work of God), a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church, focused on promoting holiness in the midst of ordinary life. I first learned about him when I lived in Spain my senior year of college. I had moved there to teach English and met several people involved with Opus Dei and became enamored by his writings. He is a saint of our modern times and there are numerous videos of him on YouTube speaking to crowds all over the world. He is warm, funny, practical and a joy to listen to about becoming a saint through our work. The prayers for the novena were written by the St. Josemaria Institute. "Radiating Joy," An Interview with Stephany Anderson and Maria Benes
Can I tell you about my friend Michelle Duppong? At age 31 she died of cancer and was one of the most joyful people I have ever met. She was spontaneous, prayerful, and full of life. I met her when I was a student at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, and she was serving there as a missionary. I had the honor of being in her bible study and part of her discipleship chain with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS). Her life not only impacted mine, but also thousands of people, to the point that in 2022, her local bishop officially opened her cause for canonization. I recently sat down with two friends to share stories about Michelle’s life and some of the lessons she taught us. On Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, there will be a one day showing of a documentary about Michelle’s life, called “Radiating Joy: The Michelle Duppong Story”. You can purchase your tickets here! I highly recommend watching this documentary and listening to this episode if you need some inspiration in your faith journey, or if you’re going through a particularly difficult moment and not sure what to do. “Contemplating the Seven Sorrows of Mary,” An Interview with Dr. Joseph Hollcraft
How do you react when someone dear to you is suffering? Are you quick to provide a consoling word, or is your immediate response to be a loving presence? I have to admit, I’m usually quick to provide an encouraging word and to try and “fix” the situation in order to get that person out of their pain. However, I’m learning more and more the power of just being there for the other. In his new book, “Contemplating the Seven Sorrows of Mary: A Chaplet with St. Alphonsus Liguori,” Dr. Joseph Hollcraft and co-author Ruth Berghorst, share about the power of loving accompaniment, through the eyes of Mary. I recently started praying the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Mary and have experienced peace in stressful circumstances through it. I found this book to be a useful guide in learning more about the chaplet and having meditations to assist me in my prayer. By contemplating Mary’s seven sorrows, we accompany her through her suffering and invite her to accompany us through ours. I highly recommend this episode if you have ever been curious about: - The history of the devotion - The promises Mary gives to those who pray the chaplet - Why pray the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Mary - The power of intercessory prayer- (Dr. Hollcraft breaks down the Greek word for “intercession”) Dr. Hollcraft is a Professor and Director of the High Calling Program at the Avila Institute and was a pleasure to speak to for this episode. You can watch this episode on YouTube or listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Be sure to share with a friend. “From Judaism to Christianity,” An Interview with Debbie Herbeck
Debbie Herbeck was born Jewish. She grew up in a Jewish family, had Jewish friends, and thought everyone was Jewish. She had never read the Bible and didn’t know anything about Jesus. In college, she had a life-changing encounter with Jesus and came to know Him as the Messiah. Debbie’s journey from Judaism to Christianity is an incredible story of our God pursues us even when we are not aware, and how He meets us in the midst of our struggles. From deep family tragedy to redemption at the end of life, Debbie is acutely aware of what it is like to suffer the cost of becoming Christian. However, through it all God has proven His faithfulness to her and her family and enriched them in the process. Listening to Debbie was truly a gift and I know you will be equally touched by her story. You can watch this episode on YouTube or listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Be sure to share with a friend. "Authentic Love," An Interview with Rachel Bulman
We all desire authentic love. The kind of love that doesn’t run away when we put up walls or when we fall or when we struggle to love ourselves. We all want that faithful kind of love that lasts, that is proven in fire. Think of someone in your life, (or maybe you’re that person), who is secure in who he or she is. That has experienced that kind of authentic love, and freely gives it out. They practically glow with genuineness, and you feel more like yourself being around them, because they fully embrace themselves, warts and all. I can think of many such people. Rachel Bulman, my guest for today, is one of those people. She is an author, speaker, wife and mother to six children, with one in heaven. Speaking to her was like speaking to the older sister I never had. She is a woman fully secure in who she is and whose she is (a beloved daughter of God). She is funny, real, and the kind of person you want to invite over for coffee every week. I first heard about her through a reality television show on YouTube, called "Meet the Bulmans" back in 2022. (If you haven’t seen it, you have my permission to stop reading, click the link, binge watch a couple episodes and then come back.) It follows the lives of Rachel, her husband Jason and their kids, and their joys and challenges of the week. My husband and I watched it around the time we got married and it gave me great hope as we embarked on this crazy, wonderful journey. Through this podcast episode, my prayer is that you’ll not only be re-affirmed in your true identity as God’s beloved, but you’ll also become more aware of the many small and big ways His love is manifested in the people and situations around you. Tune in for: Advice for maintaining love in marriage in the long-haul The power of blessing and affirming our children How Rachel and Jason navigated through his calling to the deaconate program How Rachel would describe her vocation as a wife and mother Rachel’s weightlifting skills Resources mentioned in the episode: Meet the Bulmans "With All Her Mind: A Call to the Intellectual Life” (Word on Fire, 2022) “Becoming Wife: Saying Yes to More Than the Dress” (Our Sunday Visitor, 2023). “Combatting Human Trafficking,” An Interview with Felicitas Brugo Onetti
This past summer while speaking at the GIVEN Forum in Washington, D.C., I had the pleasure of meeting Felicitas Brugo Onetti. Felicitas was a fellow panel speaker, and I was really moved by her life’s mission of combatting human trafficking and wanted to share her story with you. She is as an Anti-Trafficking Education and Outreach Coordinator for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, where she works to highlight the intersections of social justice issues such as foster care, substance use, online exploitation, young adults, child welfare issues, and other adverse health and social effects. As God would have it, we had the opportunity to record this episode in person and talk more about her work, how she maintains her joy while working in such a heart-wrenching field, and the importance of approaching difficult conversations with love. Tune in for: What the average person can do to combat human trafficking How parents and friends can help prevent someone they love from becoming exploited Felicita’s beautiful faith journey and how the saints have aided her along the way Resources mentioned in the episode: U.S Conference of Catholic Bishops Anti-Trafficking Program 2024 World Day of Prayer Toolkit St. Josephine Bakhita Bakhita: From Slave to Saint (I highly recommend this movie on Formed.org about St. Bakhita’s life.) "A Call to Holiness," An Interview with Kathleen Beckman
Holiness is attractive. Think of Mother Teresa, John Paul II or even that elderly woman at church whose encouraging smile and wave puts you at ease and somehow points you to Christ. Regardless of our particular vocations or the circumstances in our lives, we are called to be living icons of God. However, sometimes in the griminess of life and the bumps and bruises we experience, we can begin to put holiness on an altar and think it’s just for nuns or priests or the aforementioned old lady at church. But not so. There are women like the Mexican mystic from San Luis Potosí, Mexico, María Concepción Cabrera de Armida, (lovingly called Conchita) who show us that holiness is for everyone. Conchita, who is now a Blessed, is one stage away from becoming a canonized Saint in the Catholic church. She was a wife, mother of nine, foundress of five Apostolates and author on the level of St. Thomas Aquinas. I had the great pleasure of speaking with evangelist and author, Kathleen Beckman about her book on Conchita’s spirituality, “Beautiful Holiness: A Spiritual Journey With Blessed Conchita to the Heart of Jesus.” This was a conversation I know I will come back to for all the grace-filled gems that Kathleen shared. We spoke about: Conchita’s naturalness in sharing the Gospel The power of loving those in our sphere of influence How to fight discouragement like a saint Why praying for priests is so essential as they our “warriors on the front lines” Resources to help you in your spiritual life It was truly an honor to speak with Kathleen and I know this conversation will bless you as much as it did me. Resources mentioned in the episode: “Beautiful Holiness”: Learning From Blessed Conchita — Catholic Women in Business - A review I wrote on Kathleen’s book Kathleen’s Books: A Family Guide to Spiritual Warfare: Strategies for Deliverance and Healing Praying for Priests: An Urgent Call for the Salvation of Souls The Foundation of Prayer for Priests- Kathleen’s apostolate of spiritual motherhood and fatherhood for the holiness and protection of priests To connect with Valentina, visit: https://fiatcareercoaching.com/.

As an avid reader, I am always on the lookout for good children’s books that share the faith and inspire the love of reading in my son. I was delighted to read Susan Joy Bellavance’s new children’s book, “When Jesus Speaks,” and was enthralled by the beautiful illustrations and text. I had the opportunity to sit down with Susan to talk about her inspiration of the book, and it was a joy hearing her passion and the insights she desired both parents and children take away from the book. “Restoring the Lord’s Day,” An Interview with Daniel Fitzpatrick
What does a typical Sunday look like for you? Does it revolve around time in worship with anticipation of a lively breakfast after church? Does the idea of Sunday conjure up thoughts of a cozy nap or of laundry day in preparation for the week? Whatever your Sunday currently looks like, I encourage you to consider that God might be inviting you, and me, to something more. Many of us consider Sunday as a “day of rest”, and rightly so, as during creation God rested on the seventh day and commanded us to do the same. Rest is for our good. However, it is so much more than just a day to put our feet up or to hurriedly prepare for Monday. In his new book, “Restoring the Lord’s Day,” New Orleans native, Daniel Fitzpatrick, takes readers on a journey to understand why our Sunday observances have vastly changed from ancient times to now, some of the root causes, and how we can restore Sunday to its’ proper place. I enjoyed speaking with Daniel about his book and gaining tips I can incorporate into my family life to live Sunday even better! "Reform: Experiencing Christ-Centered Wellness," An Interview with Jackie Mulligan
As we navigate life, it can sometimes be tempting to live in a disintegrated way. How often do we “live for the weekends” or look at something so essential as our health as separate from our faith life. One apostolate that is seeking to aid people in living a more integrated and whole life, is Reform. Founded by Jackie Mulligan, Reform is a wellness apostolate and functional health practice focused on helping individuals heal both body and soul. I first learned about Reform from a friend of mine several years ago, and so I was excited to sit down with Jackie to learn more about her entrepreneurial and faith journey and the lessons she’s learned leading people to physical and spiritual healing. To learn more about Reform, visit https://www.reformwellness.co/. To connect with Valentina, visit https://fiatcareercoaching.com/. Padre Pio Prayer referenced: “Live simply. Eat simply. Love one another simply. Do not complicate matters unnecessarily. How do you live simply? You remove activities that are not necessary or that pull you away from duty. Consider your duty. Then move through each day and try to serve only that duty. Have order in your life and in the life of your family. There should be a rhythm to each day that does not change. Rise at the same time. Retire at the same time in the evening. Pray at the same time. This creates an environment in which you are free to consider God. Do not think, my friends, that you live in a world where the need for simplicity has disappeared. There should be calm and if there is not calm in your life, change your life and keep changing it until you feel calm.”

"How to Grow in Hope," An Interview with Constance Hull
Have you ever read a quote or story at just the right time? The type of writing that just speaks to what you’re walking through at that very moment? That’s how I felt when I read Constance Hull’s article, “How Our Worldly Failures Lead Us to Grow in Hope” last year. I had been praying for an increase in the virtue of hope and struggling with some recent disappointment. Reading Constance’s words was a gentle, yet firm, reminder on how to tackle life’s disappointments like the saints. This episode is for you if you’re walking through a season of changes, sickness, loneliness, or if things aren’t going the way you planned. By the end you’ll be encouraged and reorientated to the true source of all our hope. "God is Beauty: A Hidden Retreat By JPII," An Interview with Bill Donaghy
What was the last beautiful thing you saw? Was it the morning light as it danced across your windowpane? The face of your child or your beloved? Or the steam rising from your coffee as you reached for your favorite mug? Hold that memory for a second. Did you know that deep down, at the essence of that very thing, is God? Bear with me for a moment. The very depth of all things that are good, true and beautiful is God. He is Beauty. If you don’t believe me, then take a listen to today’s episode. During Holy Week in 1962, Saint John Paul II, then Karol Wojtyla, delivered a retreat to a group of artists about the beauty of God, the ache of artists, the importance of prayer, and the Eucharist. Originally published in Polish, this retreat was recently discovered by Dr. Christopher West, from the Theology of the Body Institute (TOBI) and translated to English. The result is the book, “God is Beauty: A Retreat on the Gospel and Art,” which contains Wojtyla’s exquisite retreat, as well as rich reflections by various artists and theologians on Wojtyla’s major themes. Today’s guest is Bill Donaghy, Senior Lecturer and Content Specialist for the Theology of the Body Institute, and one of the authors of the book. In our conversation today we discuss: How God uses beauty to draw us upwards to Himself Why beauty is so important and how it will save the world How we are God’s poetry (and what to do if we don’t feel that we are) How to connect with God when you feel distant I think you will thoroughly enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Reading this book changed my view for the better on who God is, who I am, and how I’m meant to view those around me. I highly recommend it, whether you think you’re an artist or not. As Saint John Paul II said, “Not all are called to be artists in the specific sense of the term. Yet, as Genesis has it, all men and women are entrusted with the task of crafting their own life … to make of it a work of art." Additionally, the TOBI is also offering a discount to all listeners for this book. Use the code BEAUTY during checkout to get 20% off one or more copies of God Is Beauty from their store. I’m joined by Dana Nygaard a Catholic Licensed Professional Counselor, speaker, and author of the book, “365 Dates to Renew Your Christian Marriage: Increasing Your Emotional Intimacy One Question at a Time.” I stumbled upon Dana’s book last Fall, and my husband and I began using it on our date nights and it has greatly enriched our conversations. "There's Power in Your Tongue," An Interview with Maria Vadia
Today’s my birthday and in gratitude for another year around the sun, I want to share this special episode with you. I had the honor of speaking with Maria Vadia, an evangelist and founder of The Glory of God Foundation and was blown away. I know I say that about each guest but listening to Maria felt like walking on the road to Emmaus next to Jesus. Maria is from Cuba and her and her family fled to Miami to escape the Communist regime when she was 10 years old. She is passionate about scripture and speaks with such conviction that my heart was stirring throughout. As I listened to her, I realized how often I have misused a great gift I’ve been given - my tongue. The words we say about ourselves and to others matters. We have the power to build up or to tear down, and both have eternal consequences. This episode is for you: If you’re tired of the negative thoughts swirling around your head and you want to break any word curses spoken against you. If you want to learn how to speak blessings on yourself, your children and those around you. If you want to know how praise and worship can lead to radical healing and breakthrough in your life. At the end of the episode, Maria shares a couple words of knowledge for certain people listening or watching who have certain illnesses that God wants to heal. If what she says applies to you and you receive healing, please email me so we can give God thanks for your healing! To learn more about Maria, visit www.thegloryofgodfoundation.org. "Finding Peace in the Storm," An Interview with Dan Burke
There are certain conversations I know I will remember for the rest of my life. This podcast episode is one of them. I had the pleasure of speaking with Dan Burke, the President of the Avila Institute, about his new book, “Finding Peace in the Storm: Reflections on St. Alphonsus Liguori’s Uniformity with God’s Will”. Dan and I first spoke last year about how to live an abundant life, and it was great to have him back on the show. His new book is a page-by-page reflection on a treatise first written by St. Alphonsus Liguori, an 18th century bishop and moral theologian in 1755. Our conversation had a profound effect on me for two reasons: Dan’s vulnerability and the topic of God’s will. As you will learn from this episode, Dan lives with a life-threatening illness, and his growth and acceptance of God’s will in and through it is remarkable. Secondly, like most people, I hate suffering. It’s easy for me to accept God’s will when things are going well. However, my inclination is to throw an internal temper tantrum when difficult things happen and to wonder if God has abandoned me. Reading this book has changed that pattern. I am learning to see how suffering can be for my good and God’s glory, and how seeking God’s will in all things is my fast track to heaven. Dan said it best- “There will be a day that the things that used to ‘wreck’ you will instead propel you to heaven.” If you would like that to be your perspective, take a listen to this episode. "The World Needs Your 'Yes'," An Interview with Katie Hile Patrick
I feel incredibly blessed to know so many amazing people. One such person is Katie Patrick who lives in my favorite town of Lincoln, Nebraska (yes I’m biased). Katie is the Executive Director of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska, and the Founder of Totonga Bomoi, a non-profit educating artisans and entrepreneurs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is an exceptional leader and was recently awarded the “Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year,” due to her outstanding contribution to the Lincoln community. Katie is also a wife, a mother of twin girls and one of the calmest women I know. I wanted to interview Katie as she is an excellent example of someone who is living out of their charisms. She inspires me and so many others to step out in faith and use the gifts we’ve been given. I believe you will truly be inspired to give your own “yes” to the world and bless those around you after listening to Katie’s story. “Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father’s Love,” An Interview with Fr. Boniface Hicks, O.S.B.
We each yearn to be seen, loved and accepted. We value when others acknowledge our strengths, our contributions, and even our presence. That desire to be loved and received as we are, is stamped in our DNA. Can I propose that God wants to meet that desire for intimacy and fill you to the brim with His love? If that has not been your experience and if instead you experience God as distant and disinterested, I invite you to take a listen to today’s episode. I’m joined by Fr. Boniface Hicks, a Benedictine monk and the Director of Spiritual Formation at Saint Vincent Seminary. I first learned of Fr. Hicks through my classes with Encounter Ministries and through a book he co-authored titled, “Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father’s Love.” It started as an optional reading assignment that I wasn’t planning to read (I’ve read a lot of books on prayer and couldn’t imagine how this could be anything new- prideful I know!), to being a book I couldn’t put down and now recommend to everyone! In our conversation, we talk about how: Prayer is both human and relational God is vulnerable with us and how our vulnerability with him begets true intimacy Praying with scripture and immersing ourselves in the Gospel stories will lead us to the intimacy we desire To lean into the silence of prayer and not “freak out” by what bubbles up within us or when we don’t seem to perceive anything from God It was a true joy to speak with Fr. Boniface and I know you will be encouraged through our conversation. To learn more about Fr. Hicks, visit www.fatherboniface.org. To connect with Valentina, visit www.fiatcareercoaching.com.

"The Art of Storytelling," An Interview with Claire Dwyer, Writer, Marketing Manager of the Avila Foundation
Have you ever wanted to be a writer? I remember being a child and sitting on our back step, scribbling reflections and stories on mini notepads as I overlooked our neighbors’ yards. Writing was a gateway to another world and a way to make sense of the jumbled thoughts in my head. Fast forward several years, and I am still enamored by the art of writing and crafting a good story. This is why I was thrilled to interview today’s guest, Claire Dwyer. She is a best-selling author of the book, “This Present Paradise: A Spiritual Journey with St. Elizabeth of the Trinity,” the Marketing Manager of the Avila Foundation, and co-founder of PraiseWriters, a new writing community for Catholic writers. In our conversation, we talk about: Her journey to becoming the writer she is today How to be patient in the waiting, as we become who we are and wait for ‘good fruit’ to produce within us Why the world and the Church needs our stories How we become more like God when we create Practical ways to overcoming writer’s block I was so inspired to write after speaking with Claire and I know you will be too! "How to Create a Rule of Life," An Interview with Amber Ezeani, Wife, Mother, Business Owner
In AD 516, the Rule of Saint Benedict was written by St. Benedict of Nursia. This book of precepts details how monks living communally should live their lives in virtue and with order. What is shocking is this same rule is still being used in Benedictine communities today, 15 centuries later. Why does a book of “rules” carry so much appeal? Could it be that at the core, we all crave structure and stability? That knowing our boundaries and living with intentionality can actually lead to greater freedom and growth? My guest today is Amber Ezeani. Amber is a wife, mom to five children and a business owner whose life illustrates this concept well. Several years ago, her and her husband embarked on a journey to live life with greater intentionality and order. After much research and trial and error, they now operate under a rule of life, individually and as a family. This means they have a daily and weekly schedule they aim to live by, and monthly and yearly goals they plan around. However, the goal is not to just have a streamlined life schedule, but instead to orient their entire lives around the love of God and neighbor and to live out their purpose. I encourage you to listen to today’s episode if you desire: Tangible tools that will help you be more proactive versus reactive in your day. To live life more intentionally. To know and accomplish the mission you believe you were put on this earth to do. I was so inspired after speaking with Amber and I know you will be too! What does God’s voice sound like? Does He still speak today? What if I can’t hear Him? These are the questions my guest, Fr. Stephen Graeve, and I discuss on today’s episode. Fr. Graeve is a priest in a country parish in Nebraska and someone I have known since I was a wee lass in high school. He is wise, hilarious, and the kind of priest that inspires you to live an authentic life in Christ. In this episode, we discuss: Fr. Graeve’s journey to becoming a priest The different ways God speaks (ex. visual, auditory, sensing, knowing) How to discern if it’s God’s voice, our own, or the enemy speaking What to do if you feel like you can’t hear God’s voice The importance of vulnerability in prayer Get ready to laugh and smile throughout this episode. Diane Reiber is an artist and author residing in Lincoln, Nebraska whose paintings immediately took my breath away the first time I saw them. I have always been fascinated by artists. Their freedom with medium such as oil and watercolor that seem to transcend space and reality has always inspired me. However, unlike other artists whose paintings leave you merely appreciating the subject at hand, Diane’s paintings draw you upward and outwards towards God. If you have ever desired to be an artist or are curious about how art can heal, take a listen to today’s conversation. You can find copies of Diane’s work on her website or take a peek into her studio through Instagram. To connect with Valentina, visit fiatcareercoaching.com.
