The Murders of Theresa Bunn & Hazel Lewis (Chicago, Illinois)

We’re diving into two separate cases from Chicago’s South Side that remain unsolved to this day—the brutal murders of Theresa Bunn and Hazel Lewis. But these two women are not alone. Their deaths are just a fraction of a larger, more disturbing pattern that has been happening for almost 3 decades. These cases are a mirror, reflecting a crisis that has been unfolding for years—a crisis where Black women continue to be targeted, their disappearances glanced over, and their killers allowed to walk free. And by the end of this episode you'll wonder: Is this the work of a serial killer? Or is it something more insidious but far more common — the systemic neglect of black femicide? If you have any information about the murders of Theresa Bunn or Hazel Lewis, or any of the 51 murdered women in chicago please contact the Chicago Police Department at (312) 746-6000. But most importantly, keep sharing their stories. Keep saying their names. Keep demanding justice.Follow @forgottenechoespodcast on Instagram, TikTok and subscribe on YoutubeTo suggest a case email me at [email protected]:Vocal Media: https://vocal.media/criminal/body-of-strangled-pregnant-woman-left-burning-in-dumpsterRoosevelt University: https://www.roosevelt.edu/stories/news/student-journalists-tell-unreported-stories-51-murdered-womenWTTW NEWS: https://news.wttw.com/2023/02/03/homicide-clearance-rate-lower-chicago-s-black-communities-reportChicago Tribune: https://www.aetv.com/real-crime/is-there-a-serial-killer-in-chicago-right-now-strangling-women-and-burning-their-bodiesWGN NEWS: https://youtu.be/jMJVxK5v-Dk?si=sxvM5LQzwUMf3agoChicago Sun Times: https://chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/2021/1/1/22209510/chicago-murder-female-forgotten-john-fountain-homicide-unsolved-murders0Disclaimer:The content of this podcast is intended for mature audiences only.
