Why Jesus Used Parables - S07E08

Send us Fan MailS07E08: Why Jesus Used ParablesSeries Title: Lessons from the Parable of JesusHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaHave you ever noticed how a simple story can slip past our defenses and land straight on the heart? Jesus often did not begin with an argument—He began with a picture: a farmer scattering seed, a lost sheep, a father waiting at the road, a Samaritan stopping to help. And somehow, those stories still read like they were written for our moment.Welcome to the Fountain of Life Podcast. Today we’re beginning a new series: Lessons from the Parables of Jesus. The parables are more than memorable Bible stories—they are mirrors that reveal what is happening inside us, and windows that show us what the Kingdom of God is like. They speak to timeless human realities: pride and humility, fear and faith, forgiveness and bitterness, distraction and devotion, greed and generosity, justice and mercy. That’s why their lessons are still deeply relevant in a world of noise, pressure, and competing voices.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

Improving The Stories That We Tell Ourselves - (Pt 7) - S07E07

Send us Fan MailS07E07:  Improving The Stories That We Tell Ourselves - Pt 7Host: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaThe mind is a master storyteller, but not always an accurate historian.Growth begins when you notice which parts of your story are interpretations, not truths. Many limiting narratives survive simply because they’ve never been questioned. Writing down the “story version” and then listing only the verifiable facts underneath it is a surprisingly effective reset. Before we ever change our direction in life, we usually change the story we’re telling ourselves. What are the important things we need to know or do to change the narrative about our lives if we know the stories we are telling ourselves are not helping us grow as individuals?Long before our behaviors change, the meaning we assign to our life usually does. When the story we’re telling ourselves stops supporting growth, what’s needed isn’t denial or forced positivity, but a deliberate and compassionate narrative update. I discuss some principles and practices to help change our internal narrative. The Stories That We Tell Ourselves - (Pt 6) - S07E06

Send us Fan MailS07E06: The Stories That We Tell Ourselves - Pt 6Host: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaWelcome to today's Episode. We all live by stories—stories about who we are, where we come from, and what we are capable of becoming. Some of these stories empower us, while others quietly confine us, shaping our choices, our courage, and even our faith. Have you ever stopped to think about the story you’re telling yourself right now? Before the prodigal son ever packed his bags and left his father’s house, he had already made up his mind—and that decision was driven by a story he told himself. A story about freedom. About fulfillment. About life being better somewhere else. It wasn’t a true picture of his reality, but it was convincing enough to cost him everything. And then, somewhere in the middle of the brokenness, another story emerged. A different one. This time, it was a story filled with humility, hope, and the possibility of grace—and that story led him home. The truth is, we are all living out the stories we tell ourselves. Those stories can quietly pull us away from God and wreak havoc in our lives, or they can awaken us to God’s love and point us toward redemption. In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about the stories we tell ourselves—and how those stories shape our choices, our faith, and ultimately our destiny in God.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

The Stories That We Tell Ourselves - (Pt 5) - S07E05

Send us Fan MailS07E05: The Stories That We Tell Ourselves - Pt 5Host: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaWelcome to today's episode. Have you ever noticed how much the stories you tell yourself shape the way you live? The way you talk to yourself about your past, your abilities, or even your calling can quietly determine how you show up in life. Some of those stories push us forward—but others keep us stuck. In today’s episode, I want us to look at this idea through two familiar biblical characters: Gideon and King David. Gideon’s story is one many of us can relate to. He saw himself as weak, insignificant, and unqualified—even while God was calling him a mighty warrior. There was a big gap between who Gideon believed he was and who God said he was, and stepping into his purpose meant rewriting that inner narrative.David, on the other hand, did something different. When he faced fear, opposition, or uncertainty, Scripture tells us he encouraged himself in the Lord. David reminded himself—again and again—of God’s faithfulness, power, and goodness. Those reminders shaped how he saw himself and how he faced his battles. So today, we’re going to reflect on the stories we tell ourselves. Are they grounded in fear and limitation, or in the truth of who God is and what He can do? Because when our inner narrative lines up with God’s truth, we become far more ready to be used by Him.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

Send us Fan MailS07E04: The Stories That We Tell Ourselves - Pt 4Host: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaWelcome to today’s episode, where we explore the stories we tell ourselves—and how those inner narratives can quietly shape our faith, our choices, and our outcomes. In the parable of the talents, the servant given one talent, acted from a distorted view of his master, and that belief limited his fruitfulness. In contrast, David’s life shows what can happen when our inner story is grounded in the truth of who God is. Together, we’ll look at how these narratives form, how they influence our walk with God, and how to replace limiting beliefs with truth that leads to freedom and growth.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

It’s Christmas time—a season full of joy, family, and celebration. But you know, Christmas isn’t just about gifts under the tree or festive meals. At its heart, it’s about the incredible gift God gave us: a Son, sent with a purpose that goes way beyond the manger.Think about it—when a family welcomes a son, it’s about carrying on traditions and values. But when God gave us His Son, it was about sharing His love and purpose with the whole world. The prophet Isaiah gave us a hint about what this Son would mean for us, and as we celebrate, it’s a great time to reflect not just on Jesus’ birth, but on what His sonship means for our lives today. So, as you’re enjoying the holiday season, let’s take a moment together to dig a little deeper. What does it mean that God gave us a Son? How does that change the way we see Christmas—and ourselves? I hope this episode brings you encouragement and a fresh sense of hope. Persistent ingratitude can lead to a negative outlook, causing us to push away friends, family, and colleagues. Additionally, ingratitude makes us miss out on the beauty of life. Studies have shown that people who regularly practice gratitude experience a 23% lower level of stress and significant increase in happiness and reduction in depressive moods. Additionally, acknowledging the small joys in life, such as a beautiful sunset or a kind gesture from a stranger, can enhance daily experiences and contribute to a more positive mindset. But Scripture speaks directly into that moment: “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.”And that raises a bigger question… why would God care about something like that?So let me ask you—what does it really mean that God gave humanity “dominion” over the earth? Is it about control… or something deeper?Because when you start reading through the Bible—even in small, easily overlooked laws—you begin to notice a pattern. God actually cares a great deal about how we treat animals. Proverbs even says that a righteous person cares for the needs of their animals… which means this isn’t just about farming—it’s about character. So the Bible doesn’t call us to worship animals—but it definitely doesn’t give us permission to be harsh or careless with them either. Why? Because they’re part of God’s creation… and we’ve been entrusted with their care, not given a license to exploit them.In this episode, we’re going to unpack that idea: What does Scripture really say about how we treat wildlife? And what does that reveal about the kind of people God calls us to be?#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

The Basic Foundation of Gratitude - S05E17

Send us Fan MailS05E17: The Basic Foundation of GratitudeSeries: GratitudeHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaIn a couple of days, the United States would take a break to celebrate thanksgiving. However, the celebration of thanksgiving is not unique to the US, since other cultures around the world also celebrates it in some form. Why is it important in life for us to pause, reflect on our circumstances and be thankful? what constitutes true thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is more than a verbal response, it is related to gratitude, an emotional and rational sense of appreciation of good. Consequently, gratitude is the foundation of true thanksgiving, and thanksgiving is actually gratitude in action. I discuss the basis of gratitude and how it relates to thanksgiving in this episode.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

Biblical Principles of Sustainable Usage of Plant and Animals - S05E16

Send us Fan MailS05E16: Biblical Principles of Sustainable Usage of Plants and AnimalsSeries: The Church and the EnvironmentHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaWhat if the natural world is one of the clearest ways God still speaks to us today? When we look at the natural world, we’re looking at more than just trees, animals, and open fields—we’re looking at something that reflects the wisdom and care of God. Jesus often used nature to teach deep spiritual truths. He pointed to the lilies of the field and the birds of the air to show us God’s provision and attention to His creation. But that raises an important question: what happens when the very plants and animals that reveal God’s wisdom are misused, overexploited, or lost? In our time, as more species and ecosystems come under pressure, the issue of how we treat creation becomes more urgent. The Bible shows us that the earth is not ours to abuse, but a gift entrusted to us by God, meant to be used with wisdom, gratitude, and responsibility. In this episode, we’re going to talk about biblical principles for the sustainable utilization of plants and animals, and what those principles can teach us about faithful stewardship in the world today.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

Biblical Principles of Sustainable Usage of Land & Water - S05E15

Send us Fan MailS05E15: Biblical Principles of Sustainable Usage of Land & WaterSeries: The Church and the EnvironmentHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaThe Cuyahoga River in Ohio has caught fire on 12 previous occasions, but the fire in 1969 finally got the attention of the US govt to the fact that, ordinarily, Rivers don't burn. The Govt's response was the formation of the EPA in 1970 to control pollution in the US. The dust bowl of the 1930's due to poor land tenure system and agricultural practices elicited similar response with the formation of the National Soil Conservation service, part of the USDA. The Bible likewise provides guidelines which God has put in place to safeguard the sustainable utilization of the earth's resources. Humanity often pay a steep price when the wisdom embodied in these guidelines are violated. In this episode, I discuss some of the guidelines God established for ancient Israel with regards to sustainable usage of land and water, which are still relevant today.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

    This is God's Earth - S05E13

Send us Fan MailS05E13: This is God's EarthSeries: The Church and the EnvironmentHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaThe Bible establishes unambiguously that God created the earth and everything therein and God entrusted it to the care of Mankind, a position which the Church strongly upholds as opposed to the theory of evolution. So, why then is the Church silent and largely indifferent to any abuse and misuse of the earth? What is the Church's responsibility to the earth and the environment in which we dwell? Should the church even bother to be engaged in any discussion about environmental issues? These are questions many Christians grapple with. I discuss some of these questions in this episode and subsequent episodes in this series on the Church and the Environment.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

In this series of episodes on the  Foundational truths of the Church, I discuss several topics on the very foundation on which our faith is based: grace, mercy, love, righteousness, as well as our responsibilities in maintaining these privileges we have in Christ. The Good Shepherd - S05E10

Send us Fan MailS05E10: The Good Shepherd Series: Foundational truths of Christianity Host: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaWe hear a lot about how we ought to be loving God and consequently, loving the work of God. In fact, we hear it so much so that we feel that God only loves us when we are 'performing well' based on men's estimation. However, have we paused to ask 'how much does God also love me? Understanding that God's love is not based on how well we think we are performing, and that nothing can separate us from the love God of can be very liberating and empowering since, all our actions are then in response to His Love. God first loved us when we were unlovable as sinners, how much more will He love us now that we are His children? In this episode, I discuss how God uses the concept of the good shepherd to demonstrate his love for us.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

The church is built on a foundation, which is the knowledge of Jesus Christ as the Son God in the flesh, who came to die for the sins of the world. That foundation cannot be changed. However, we live in a world which is constantly changing with shifting social structures, political, and religious landscape. How does the church maintain the integrity of it's foundation? Beyond sustaining all life on the planet, the wind's power and utility is unfathomable. Notably, everything which flies needs air to generate lift, the wind in sails enabled humanity to explore the oceans and travel to distant lands and much more. The wind has also been a divine signature and emblem of the Holy Spirit. What do we learn about the Holy Spirit when we study the wind? Emblems of the Holy Spirit: The Fire - S05E07

Send us Fan MailS05E07: The FireSeries: Emblems of the Holy SpiritHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaFire catches attention, whether as a burning bush which is not being consumed, Nebuchadnezzar's furnace or a rocket hurtling into space. We always react to fire either fearfully or with admiration and awe. The benefits of fire to mankind are endless, we have harnessed the power of fire to do mighty things such as the internal combustion engine to make us travel faster and rockets to help us escape the power of gravity, transform materials, as well as mundane things such as cooking food and much more. But the destructive power of fire is also apparent and so we create safeguards to protect lives and property from fire. It is therefore no coincidence that the Godhead, The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit use fire to communicate their intentions, attributes, personality and presence to humanity. So, what does fire teach us about the Holy Spirit when symbolized by fire? I discuss the significance of Fire as an emblem of the Holy Spirit in the Episode.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

However, the rain can also have deadly consequences depending on how we relate to it. In the Scriptures, God similarly uses the rain to show his favor and illustrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on His People, but He also uses the rain as an instrument of judgement. So, what does the rain teach us about the Holy Spirit when it is used as an emblem of the Holy Spirit? In this episode I discuss how God uses the element of the rain to show us the invisible attributes of the Holy Spirit.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

Dr. Charles ZutaRivers have influenced the development of human societies, and still do, such as the Nile, Danube, Thames and many others. They awe us with their power, resilience, and ability to sustain all kinds of life on the planet. It is therefore not a coincidence that Jesus compared the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the flow of rivers of living water. There are several lessons that we can learn from the river systems on the planet which would help us understand a bit more of the attributes and operations of the Holy Spirit. As symbols or emblems of the Holy Spirit, rivers of water do show us the majesty, power and beauty of the Operations of the Holy Spirit in our lives and Ministry. Emblems of the Holy Spirit: The Dew - S05E04

Send us Fan MailS05E03: The DewSeries: Emblems of the Holy SpiritHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaThe dew is important for the survival of life forms on earth, especially in the arid regions where rainfall is scanty and water is scarce. The dew is so important that when Elijah pronounced a judgement on Israel because of the wickedness of King Ahab and Jezebel, by imposing a drought, he also withheld the dew. Similarly, when David cursed Mount Gilboa where King Saul was slain in battle, he withheld not just the rain but also the dew from falling on the Mountain. There are interesting parallels between the dew and the holy Spirit which allows us to understand the intangible aspects of the personality of the Holy Spirit. I discuss the dew as a symbol or emblem of the Holy Spirit in this episode.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

However, there are strict guidelines governing the Anointing Oil in its first appearance in the Scriptures when God asked Moses to formulate it. These guidelines give us hints of the nature and invisible attributes of the Holy Spirit which we have to be mindful of in our fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Emblems of the Holy Spirit: The Dove - S05E02

Send us Fan MailS05E02: The DoveSeries: Emblems of the Holy SpiritHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaThe Holy Spirit is a person. A person, who as the third person in the trinity is responsible for the regeneration of the sinner, leading the believer into the will and purposes of God, and transforming the believer into the image of Christ. While many believers in Christ know about God the Father and God the Son, God the Holy Spirit remains a mystery to many believers. However, knowing the Holy Spirit personally, makes all the difference in our walk with God. The word of God helps us to know the invisible aspects of the personality of the Holy Spirit by the symbols or emblems used to characterize the Holy Spirit.  I discuss some of these emblems in the next series of episodes, starting with the Holy Spirit symbolized by a Dove.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show

The Role of Women in Paul's Ministry - S04E26

Send us Fan MailS04E26: The Role of Women in Paul's MinistrySeries: The Female In God's PlanHost: Rev. Dr. Charles ZutaThe Church, the body of Christ is divided over the role of women in Ministry and Leadership. This division in the body of Christ is based largely on the content of two passages of scripture from a letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the Churches in Ephesus and Corinth through Timothy his Spiritual Son in the Lord. The question is, did Apostle Paul intend what he wrote to be for all women for all time? Or was he addressing a specific problem in those 2 assembles? In the absence of possibility of seeking clarification from Apostle Paul, we can only infer from the totality of the Holy Scriptures and also how Apostle Paul related with Women in his Ministry with the early Church to determine the intent of God and Apostle Paul on the matter of women in leadership in the Church and in the work of Ministry as a whole. In this episode, I discuss the role of women in Paul's Ministry and other scriptures which would help us make informed decision on our position on the role of women in ministry.#podcast #fountainoflife #RevCharlesZuta #relationshipsSupport the show
