Episode 256: The Road To Redemption!
Well folks, here we are at the final week of Ted Lasso… until the beginning of August, when we get season four! But in the meantime, we’re digging into the final season of what will probably wind up being referred to as the original trilogy or something equally lame. At any rate, as Trent Crimm would say, this is the culmination of all the moments and lessons learned from Ted’s time at AFC Richmond. Will the Greyhounds win the whole effing thing? Will everyone find true happiness? Will Roy embrace his emotions? Will we just be openly weeping by the end of this episode? Find out in this, episode 256, The Road To Redemption! Episode 255: The Roy Kent Effect!
In an odd sort of way, the first season of Ted Lasso is more Empire Strikes Back. Most everyone agrees that it’s a solid banger all the way through and in spite of ending on a downer, there’s still the hope of what’s to come. So as we head into season two this week, I suppose this is either A New Hope or perhaps Revenge of the Sith, depending on where you stand with regards to the prominence of Nate the Great to the overall plot. Either way, we’re set to examine the second season of Ted Lasso in this, episode 255, The Roy Kent Effect! FULL VIDEO EPISODES! Episode 254: Believe In Belief!
Are you feeling down on the general state of the world? Feeling like you’re losing faith in humanity? Did you at one time chuckle when people were rooting for an asteroid to obliterate all life on Earth rather than choose a political candidate for office but have now fully shifted into an affinity for astronomy and have a genuine rooting interest in the sweet release from an Earth-shattering kaboom? Well, have no fear folks – Ted Lasso season four is just around the corner at the beginning of August. To celebrate, we’re going to dive into a season for each of the next three Fridays and try to jumpstart a little goodwill. Episode 253: Riyadh Rundown!
WWE’s Night of Champions premium live event is now fully in the rearview mirror and we assume that all those Saudi checks have cleared, so it’s time to look at what happened on the other side of the globe, give our take on it, count up our picks, and speculate wildly on where creative goes from here. With a pair of crowns to decide the new king and queen of the ring, defense of both US championships, the WWE title on the line, and the championship of who gets to reign over the smoking wreckage of the most snakebitten faction in recent history… it was a full night. Episode 252: Bird Versus The GOAT!
We make no secret that we are children of the seventies, steeped in the eighties, and emerged into something like adulthood in the nineties. Gen X through and through. Toss in our New England roots and it’s likely that along with the normal nihilistic bent of our latch-key kid compadres, we are also especially opinionated and hold all the requisite regional biases one could imagine. So we’re going to float out one of our oh-so-popular show gimmicks… and unpopular opinion. Episode 250: Fantastical Booking!
After WWE made the rather bold decision to split all their good and bad matches from WrestleMania onto separate nights, it felt like there was a bit of course correction happening with Backlash – an event that we both thought was better than expected. Since then, it’s been mostly, to quote the great Jim Cornette, the drizzling shits. Episode 248: Workin' Both Sides Of The Aisle!
It’s been a fast and furious week or so in professional wrestling with the build up to PLEs from both major American promotions as well as weekly television and a B-level PLE thrown in just for kicks. AEW rolled into Uncle Todd’s neck of the woods for a live broadcast of Dynamite and Collision and he waded into enemy territory to be part of history. On the other side of the trenches, WWE has been building up to their first ever Italian PLE this coming Sunday as well as cranking out weekly TV and a Saturday Night’s Main Event in that jewel of the midwest, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Back in 2019, “The Mandalorian” debuted on the fledgling Disney+ streaming app and millions of “Star Wars” fans cried out in absolute glee and were suddenly… still crying out in glee. Episode 246: Maul Or Nothing!
Ever since Rogue One, the galaxy far far away has been a bit of a mixed bag. For every Mandalorian, there is a Solo. And for every Ahsoka, there’s a Rise Of Skywalker. So when a new animated show featuring everyone’s favorite prequel jobber was announced, there was plenty of anticipation, mixed in with a healthy dose of trepidation. Now that we’ve had a chance to give it a watch, the sentiment seems to be nearly unanimous. With a Rotten Tomatoes score just under 100% and tons of critic and fan accolades, Maul: Shadow Lord is a blatant success. So, now that the educated arbiters of taste and unwashed masses have spoken, we’re left to ask… what do the idiots have to say?
