Is Jesus Really the Only Way to Heaven?

Is Jesus the only way to God, or do all religions ultimately lead to the same destination? In this episode of the Fridays at First podcast, Nick and Brett examine why Christians believe Jesus is the only way—and how we can communicate that conviction with confidence, humility, and love.Different religions make fundamentally different claims about God, Jesus, salvation, and eternity. They cannot all be true in the same way. Christianity’s claim is not that “our way” is better than everyone else’s way, but that Jesus is who He claimed to be: the way, the truth, and the life.In this conversation, we discuss:• Why contradictory religious claims cannot all be true• What makes Jesus and Christianity unique• How the Old and New Testaments tell one story centered on Christ• The difference between grace and trying to earn your way to God• Why truth and love should never be separated• How Christians can speak with people of other beliefs respectfully• Why our goal should be to reach people rather than win argumentsRelevant Scripture passages include John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Matthew 16:15–16, John 1:1, 1 Corinthians 13:6, John 4, and Matthew 19.What makes it difficult to discuss the exclusive claims of Jesus in today’s culture? We welcome thoughtful and respectful perspectives from Christians and those who are still exploring Christianity.Subscribe for more biblical teaching, practical Christian conversations, and future Fridays at First episodes.Watch more Fridays at First episodes: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdFg1in_72AXmbHmWva1AVKvCBrf5XzUt&si=vIZCO-eQUSckJ3tOWatch a related episode or video: https://youtu.be/u98fuvlTiAELearn more about our church:https://firstbaptistog.org/Connect with us:Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/fbcoakgroveInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/fbcoakgrove/TikTok:https://www.tiktok.com/@fbcoakgroveTIMESTAMPS:0:00 Is Jesus the Only Way?0:41 Welcome to Fridays at First1:19 Is Christianity’s Claim Bigoted?4:04 Do All Religions Lead to God?7:38 Examining Different Religious Claims9:04 How the Old Testament Points to Jesus11:48 Can Contradictory Beliefs All Be True?14:01 Evidence, Apologetics, and a Creator17:49 The Bible’s Consistency and Complexity19:13 Is Christianity Narrow-Minded?20:18 What Jesus Said About the Truth23:05 “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”24:38 Who Do You Say Jesus Is?27:13 Grace Versus Earning Your Way to God30:00 Why We Cannot Redefine Jesus35:27 Responding to People of Other Religions41:16 Seek to Win People, Not Arguments45:51 How to Stand Firm Without Being Disrespectful49:14 Prayer, Kindness, and a Faithful Witness51:40 Final Encouragement#Christianity #JesusIsTheWay #FridaysAtFirst

What Is the Kingdom of God and How Should We Live in It?

What is the kingdom of God, and how should understanding it change the way Christians live today? In this episode of the Fridays at First podcast, Pastor Nick and Brett discuss the rule and reign of Jesus, what theologians mean when they say God’s kingdom is “already, but not yet,” and why Christians can live with hope and purpose while still experiencing the brokenness of this world. They also explore why God often builds great works through small beginnings, how Christians can respond to spiritual warfare without becoming superstitious, and how church policies, traditions, and personal preferences can sometimes keep us from loving and serving people well.In this conversation, you’ll learn:• What the kingdom of God is• What “already, but not yet” means• Why Christians still experience temptation, suffering, and spiritual conflict• Why faithfulness often begins with small acts of obedience• How to approach spiritual warfare in a biblical and balanced way• How to distinguish God’s priorities from personal preferencesScripture discussed includes Luke 13:10–21, Romans 7–8, Philippians 1, Philippians 2:3, Zechariah 4:10, and Matthew 28:18–20.Which part of this conversation most challenged or encouraged the way you think about living in God’s kingdom? Jesus’ Return, Division, and Why Tragedy Happens

How should Jesus’ return change the way Christians live today? In this episode, we discuss what it means to faithfully steward what God has given us, why Jesus brings both peace and division, and how He responds to difficult questions about tragedy and evil. This episode of the Fridays at First podcast revisits three recent messages from the Gospel of Luke. Rather than merely looking forward to escaping the pain of this world, Christians should prepare for Jesus’ return by actively doing His will. That means faithfully using our time, gifts, resources, and opportunities instead of comparing ourselves with others or allowing greed and worry to distract us.We also consider why Jesus can be both the Prince of Peace and the most divisive figure in history. Everyone who comes to Christ can be united in Him, but our response to Jesus ultimately divides those who believe from those who reject Him.Finally, we look at how Jesus responds to questions about suffering and tragedy. Jesus does not always answer the exact question people ask. Sometimes He redirects them toward the more urgent question they should be asking: How should I respond to God right now?In this conversation, you’ll learn:• What it means to be ready for Jesus’ return• Why Christians must steward what God has given them• How greed and worry can interfere with faithful obedience• Why Jesus brings both peace and division• How to respond when family members do not follow Jesus• Why difficult questions should not keep us from obeying what we already know• How the gospel gives believers hope in a world affected by evil, tragedy, and deathScripture discussed includes Luke 12:13–53, Luke 13:1–5, Matthew 11:28–30, Ephesians 5:15–16, John 3:16, 1 Timothy 4:14, and Revelation 22:20.Which part of this conversation challenged or encouraged you most? Why Serving Matters in the Christian Life

Why does serving matter in the Christian life? Serving others is more than an optional church activity, it is one of the ways Christians follow Jesus, demonstrate His love, build meaningful relationships, and learn to put others first. In this student takeover episode of the Fridays at First podcast, four student leaders from First Baptist Church Oak Grove share what motivated them to begin serving and how those experiences have changed them. They discuss serving in children’s ministry, VBS, community service projects, nursing homes, church events, and everyday relationships. You’ll hear how serving can:• Help us follow the example of Jesus• Show people what the love of Christ looks like• Build stronger relationships within the church• Develop humility, sacrifice, and concern for others• Help young Christians discover their influence and calling• Point people toward Jesus through everyday words and actionsThe students also offer encouragement for anyone who feels too young, too busy, or insufficiently gifted to serve. As their conversation explains, serving is not only about feeling able, it begins with making yourself available and trusting God to work through you.Scripture and biblical examples discussed include Jesus coming to serve rather than be served in Mark 10:45, along with God’s work through Gideon, Moses, and David. How has serving others affected your faith or helped you build relationships with people in your church? What Does Ministry Really Look Like?

What does ministry really look like beyond preaching, teaching, and what people see on stage? In this episode of the Fridays at First podcast, Pastor Nick, Brett, Carrie, and guest Tyler Shook have an honest conversation about the realities and rewards of Christian ministry. They discuss the unseen work that happens behind the scenes, the financial sacrifices ministers sometimes make, the importance of mentors, and how to remain faithful through church conflict and hurt.Ministry can be difficult, messy, and uncertain—but it also offers the incredible privilege of watching God change lives, strengthen families, and work through ordinary acts of faithfulness. In this conversation, you’ll hear about:• The behind-the-scenes work involved in ministry• Trusting God through financial and personal uncertainty• Finding and becoming a faithful ministry mentor• Responding to church hurt without walking away from Jesus• Handling conflict in a way that produces greater closeness• Supporting and encouraging pastors and church leaders• Why every Christian—not only pastors and missionaries—is called to minister• Serving faithfully before receiving a position or paycheckScripture and biblical teachings discussed include 2 Corinthians 5, Matthew 5:44, Proverbs 27:17, James 3:1, Luke 16:10, and the biblical picture of the church working together as one body. What has God taught you through serving others or walking through a difficult season in church?
