Jesus points out that if persistence pays with selfish people, how much more with the loving God? The parable presumes God is not into instant results as we are. The Bible has four Gospels that tell us about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, but each one has its distinctives. The Gospel of Luke could be described as "Jesus for the Gentiles." Luke is an investigative reporter on the life of Jesus and gives the longest and perhaps the most comprehensive account of Jesus' life. Luke emphasizes the historical reality of the person of Jesus who lived, died and rose again. The fruit of the Spirit is not exuberance… shouting… spontaneity… frenzied worship… dancing in aisles… falling to the floor… speaking in tongues. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Keeping in step with the Spirit means cultivating these traits of God.
