1 Corinthians 11:17-34 //  Only when we come to the table honestly, with no pretense before God or others, do we participate truly. Here in the supper, we learn honesty before God and honesty before God's church. 

Psalm 110 // Jesus taught us to pray "your kingdom come", which means we pray for the arrival and the brining in of the King's Power, the King's People, and the King's Place.

Psalm 23 // Psalm 23 does not promise that the path will avoid darkness; it promises that no part of the path will be without the Shepherd. Jesus, the shepherded King, has passed through death into glory and now leads all who belong to him along the same road. Trust therefore says: He is with me, his goodness is pursuing me, and he will bring me all the way home.

Psalm 105 // Prayer can be an act of remembrance where we remember the word of God, the works of God, the world of God, and the worship of God. 

Psalm 147 // Prayer is not simply a duty, but a delight. Adoration is the way we move in prayer towards the truth, goodness, and beauty of God. 

Psalm 112 // As we pray for obedience, Christ helps us by embodying it, sharing its benefits with us, and empowering us to live it out. In Psalm 112 we see three areas where Christ’s obedience fuels our own: blessing, generosity, and confidence.

Psalm 137 // What do we do when we are rightfully angry at injustice or suffering? We must learn, as the Psalmist does, to confront our anger, pray our anger, and release our anger as a response to the victory and compassion of Jesus.

Psalm 13 // For the Christian, lament helps us move to the questions beyond intellectual meaning or understanding, turning towards a greater reality that God has not abandoned us, even when we don’t feel it. In our asking, seeking, and turning to God, we gain personal knowledge of his salvation of God, secured for us in Christ.

Psalm 22 // Before Psalm 22 becomes the prayer of Christ, it is first a prayer given to the people of God. A prayer for suffering saints, for weary believers, and for those moments when God feels far away. Psalm 40 // Trials present opportunities for us to exercise patience, repentance, gratitude for and witness of God’s work, and our hope in the Lord who saves through Christ.

Psalm 100 // Praise is a responsive, personal, and  prophetic physical expression of gratitude towards and worship of God in Christ.

Genesis 11:1-32 // In the story of Babel, we find an example of what happens when we are driven not by the desire for the world to bear the name of Christ but the world to bear our own name. Godless ambition is seeking glory through dependence—but in God's mercy he frustrates our best laid plans and comes down to meet us in Christ, drawing us back to himself.

Genesis 9:18-10:32 // Genesis 9–10 reminds us that salvation from judgment is not the same thing as the full renewal of humanity. Though the flood washed the world, sin, shame, and self-glory still persisted in the human heart. Yet, God’s mercy moves toward human shame to cover it in mercy and preserve His redemptive promise.

Genesis 8:20-9:17 // The surest balm against anxiety, the problem of the future, is the provision of the promises of God. Through God's covenant with Noah, we find the promise of preservation for the earth, the promise of dignity for all mankind, and the promise of grace for God's people.

Genesis 8:1-19 // God doesn’t just protect Noah from the flood. He remembers Noah after the flood, bringing him out to new life and new purpose. As Noah represents the archetype of salvation, we believe the truth that as we cry out to Christ for remembrance, he will never forget us.

Matthew 4:1-11 // All the hurts, pains, needs, and suffering of the wilderness world you feel? Jesus felt it too. Not only that, but he shows us the way out.
