To celebrate that momentous occasion I am inserting a few bedtime stories that feature Juanita from that time period. In this episode, published on the 50th anniversary of our marriage, I tell about when I gave Juanita Ray her engagement ring in 1976 in the Wilkinson Center elevator between the second floor and the Sky Room. I relate how this led to a tradition of passionate kissing in what must be called romantic elevators!

In 2002 Grandpa Edward Jeffrey Hill, Grandma Juanita Ray Hill, and five children (Abby, Hannah, Emily, Amanda, and Seth) were working in orphanages in Cuenca. In keeping with Ecuadorian customs we made an effigy out of straw and old clothes. We had a lot of excitement on New Years as we kicked and kissed and burned our effigy. We learned that whether the old year was happy or sad was unimportant. The new year is full of possibilities!! Happy New Year! May 2026 be your best year ever!
