Why Christianity and Marxism Cannot Coexist | Grey Matter with Leighton Grey

Can Christians embrace Marxism in the name of compassion and social justice? In this Grey Matter commentary, title Siren Song, Leighton Grey argues that Christianity and Marxism are not simply competing economic or political theories. They are rival belief systems with fundamentally incompatible understandings of God, humanity, freedom, property and redemption. Christianity teaches that generosity must flow voluntarily from transformed hearts. Marxism transfers that responsibility to the state, replacing charity with compulsion and personal stewardship with confiscation and centralized control. Leighton examines the frequently repeated claim that the early Church practised communism. By placing Acts 2 and Acts 4 alongside the account of Ananias and Sapphira, he explains why the first Christians’ sharing was voluntary, Spirit-led and rooted in love—not imposed by government force. The commentary also explores Scripture’s teaching on private property, honest labour, personal responsibility and cheerful giving. From the commandment against theft to Paul’s instruction that believers give without compulsion, the biblical vision protects ownership while calling Christians to use what they possess generously. Responding to New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s promise to replace “the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism,” Leighton warns that collectivist rhetoric can sound compassionate while concealing a dangerous transfer of authority from individuals, families and churches to the state. Marxism promises redemption through revolution, centralized power and economic control. Christianity offers redemption through Jesus Christ, the transformation of individual hearts and communities built through voluntary love. Christians are commanded to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and defend the oppressed—but through compassion, not coercion. One gospel proclaims Jesus Christ as Lord. The counterfeit enthrones the state.

Why Intelligent People Surrender to Groupthink | Grey Matter with Dr. Andrew Fox

Why do intelligent and educated people sometimes surrender their own judgment to an ideology? In this episode of Grey Matter, Leighton Grey speaks with theologian, author, professor and Anglican priest Dr. Andrew Fox about his forthcoming book, Truth in the Age of Applause: How Stupidity Is Ruining the American Dream. Drawing upon Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Dr. Fox argues that stupidity is not necessarily a lack of intelligence. It can become a moral and social condition in which otherwise rational people abandon independent judgment to gain approval, preserve their status or remain safely aligned with the prevailing ideology. Leighton and Andrew examine groupthink, multiculturalism, religious accommodation, gender ideology, women’s sports and the growing pressure upon Christians to remain silent about difficult cultural questions. Dr. Fox also recounts his dismissal as a volunteer chaplain with the Austin Fire Department after expressing his Christian beliefs on a personal blog. He explains why he refused to issue the apology demanded of him, how the resulting four-year legal battle affected him and why defending the Christian voice mattered more than avoiding personal hardship. The conversation ultimately moves beyond the culture war to consider a generation searching for something real. Drawing upon his research with hundreds of university students, Dr. Fox explains why politically and spiritually homeless young people are becoming interested in ancient liturgy, Communion, Christian tradition and an understanding of truth greater than personal preference. Can Gen Z resist the pressure to conform? And will older Christians leave the sidelines to give them the wisdom, mentorship and courage they need? Truth does not become true because the crowd applauds it.

Britain’s Grooming Gang Scandal: Who Failed the Children? | Grey Matter with Leighton Grey

How could vulnerable girls report horrific abuse while police, social services, schools, health providers and political leaders repeatedly failed to protect them? In this Grey Matter commentary, Leighton Grey examines Britain’s grooming gang scandal and the institutional decisions that allowed organized child sexual exploitation to continue across multiple communities for decades. Drawing upon survivor testimony, previous official investigations and claims contained in Rupert Lowe’s independently funded Rape Gang Inquiry Report, Leighton describes how vulnerable girls were groomed, trafficked and abused while agencies repeatedly missed, dismissed or concealed warning signs. The commentary examines victim-blaming, inadequate data collection, institutional defensiveness, fear of addressing relevant cultural patterns and the repeated failure to treat exploited children as victims rather than willing participants. Leighton also considers what this scandal should teach Canada and other Western countries about child protection, immigration, cultural integration and political accountability. At its heart, this is a story about abandoned children and broken institutions. It is also a challenge to Christian men, parents, churches and public officials to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves and defend the innocent when authorities refuse to act. Protecting children must come before political reputations, institutional convenience or ideological narratives. Viewer discretion is advised. This episode discusses child sexual exploitation and institutional failure.

What Archaeology Reveals About the Bible | Grey Matter with Dinesh D’Souza

Is the Bible merely a collection of religious stories, or does the ground beneath the Holy Land reveal something more? In this episode of Grey Matter, Leighton Grey welcomes bestselling author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza to discuss his new book, The Stones Cry Out: Biblical Archaeology, Prophecy, and the Last Days. After three years of research and travel, Dinesh examines archaeological discoveries connected to the people, places and events recorded throughout Scripture. The evidence stretches from Abraham, the Exodus and the Israelite kingdoms to King David, the trial of Jesus, the high priest Caiaphas and the earliest Christian communities. Dinesh explains what archaeology has corroborated, what remains undiscovered and why he believes the physical evidence places biblical skeptics on the defensive. He also recounts the extraordinary discovery of an ornate ossuary bearing the name of Joseph Caiaphas, the high priest identified with the trial of Jesus. The conversation explores the Dead Sea Scrolls and the remarkably accurate transmission of Scripture across centuries. It also considers biblical prophecy, the restoration of Israel, the signs of the last days and why major discoveries may be emerging at this particular moment in history. Finally, Leighton and Dinesh discuss how the Bible helped shape Western civilization through its understanding of creation, human dignity, morality, forgiveness and God-given rights. The stones may not possess voices of their own, but the evidence emerging from the earth has an extraordinary story to tell.

Slavery of Ignorance: The History of Slavery You Were Never Taught | Grey Matter with Leighton Grey

Slavery is often presented as a uniquely Western crime. But does that tell the whole story? In this Grey Matter commentary, Leighton Grey examines the global history of slavery, Christianity’s revolutionary understanding of human dignity and the abolitionist movement that ultimately turned against one of humanity’s oldest evils. From the slave systems of the ancient world to the transatlantic trade, Indigenous slavery in early Canada, other international slave trades and modern human trafficking, Leighton argues that slavery was once nearly universal. What was not universal was the conviction that slavery itself was sinful and had to be abolished. The commentary explores the influence of Scripture upon Christian abolitionists such as William Wilberforce, Britain’s costly campaign against the international slave trade and Canada’s place in the history of abolition and the Underground Railroad. Leighton also addresses difficult biblical passages concerning slavery, the distinction between chattel slavery and indentured servitude, and why regulating a broken human practice does not necessarily constitute moral approval. This is not an argument that European Christendom was without sin. It is an argument that honest history must remember both its participation in slavery and the extraordinary moral campaign it eventually led to destroy it. Christianity does not erase history. It calls humanity to repentance, truth and recognition of the equal dignity of every person made in the image of God.

Can the West Survive Without Christianity? | Grey Matter with Dr. David Haskell

Can Western civilization abandon Christianity and still remain free, prosperous and socially cohesive? In this episode of Grey Matter, Leighton Grey speaks with sociologist, public intellectual and author Dr. David Haskell about his provocative new book, Christ or Collapse: The Case Against Godless Government. Drawing on more than 1,000 scholarly sources, Haskell argues that traditional Christian principles produce stronger outcomes in marriage, charitable giving, civic trust, justice, church growth and social stability. He explains how his research challenged his former liberal Christian assumptions and ultimately led him back to a more traditional faith. The conversation examines the West’s postwar retreat from Christianity, the replacement of impartial justice with progressive ideology, the decline of liberal churches and the consequences of removing Christian conviction from public life. Leighton and David also discuss Bill C-9, freedom of religious expression, whether Christian influence in government constitutes theocracy and whether Canada still has time to reverse its cultural decline. Is collapse inevitable, or can courage, truth and Christian conviction rebuild the West?

Led Astray: Christian Men Are Called to Be Holy, Not Harmless

Modern culture tells men to optimize everything: their bodies, routines, income, productivity and self-image. But becoming a better version of yourself is not necessarily the same as becoming the man God created you to be. In this Grey Matter commentary, Leighton Grey examines the cultural assault on masculinity and the disappearance of mentorship, intentional formation and meaningful rites of passage. Drawing on Dante’s Divine Comedy, biblical examples and the tradition of muscular Christianity, Leighton argues that young men need more than therapy apps, motivational advice and self-improvement systems. They need wise mentors, real responsibilities, spiritual accountability and a purpose directed toward God. He also confronts what he calls “the good man lie”: the belief that Christian men should remain pleasant, passive and inoffensive at any cost. Biblical masculinity demands something greater. It calls men to holiness, courageous service, faithful stewardship, honest repentance and obedience even when it disrupts an easy peace. Leighton concludes with two practical challenges: a mission audit to determine whether personal growth is serving God or the ego, and a holiness reset that calls men to confront the responsibilities and difficult conversations they have been avoiding. God does not call men merely to appear good. He calls them to be holy, faithful and set apart.

Is AI Opening a Spiritual Door? | Grey Matter with Aaron J. Smith

What happens when technology stops serving humanity and begins replacing human judgment? In this episode of Grey Matter, Leighton Grey speaks with Aaron J. Smith, author of Project NIMROD and creator of Subtle Cain, about artificial intelligence, propaganda, surveillance, centralized authority and the quiet erosion of human agency. Drawing on his experiences as a veteran and registered nurse, Aaron explains how institutional systems can become dangerous when obedience replaces moral responsibility and expert authority overrides individual conscience. The conversation examines the risks of accepting AI-generated answers as truth, the spiritual implications of creating digital versions of the dead and why Aaron describes large language models as a potential “digital Ouija board.” They also discuss technocratic control, modern medicine, algorithmic manipulation and practical ways to remain independent in an increasingly digital world. But this conversation does not end in fear. Aaron shares encouraging signs that people are returning to faith, family, local communities, homeschooling and lives less controlled by screens. His final message is simple: do not let the world define who you are. Find your identity and hope in Christ. Listen now and join the conversation.

Systematic Destruction: The Death Spiral of Western Civilization

Is Western civilization simply changing, or is it being systematically dismantled from within? In this urgent commentary, Leighton Grey examines what he describes as the “death spiral” of the West: an ideological, institutional, demographic, and spiritual assault on the foundations of Western society. From the erosion of religious liberty and constitutional government to the weakening of families, education, truth, and personal responsibility, Leighton argues that the deepest battle is over the very idea of freedom itself. But decline is not inevitable. Recovery begins by understanding that liberty is not a gift from government. It is an inherent right that must be understood, exercised, and defended. Can the West reverse its course before it is too late? Watch the full commentary and share your thoughts below.

The Allison Inquiry: Why Canada Can No Longer Ignore Vaccine Injuries | Shawn Buckley & Dean Alison

Can Canada begin to heal if it refuses to listen? In this episode of Grey Matter, Leighton Grey speaks with MP Dean Allison and constitutional lawyer Shawn Buckley about the Allison Inquiry, a citizen-led initiative created to hear from Canadians who report serious adverse reactions following COVID-19 vaccination. The guests explain why the inquiry was launched, why some injured Canadians say they have been dismissed or unable to access support, and why many politicians, doctors, and media organizations remain reluctant to discuss the issue publicly. They also examine the performance of Canada’s Vaccine Injury Support Program, the hundreds of witness applications received by the inquiry, and the importance of allowing Canadians to share their experiences without being mocked, marginalized, or automatically labelled “anti-vax.” Could these public hearings finally break the silence, bring greater accountability, and begin a much-needed national conversation? The Crooked Path: When Christian Language Disguises Lies

What happens when Christian language is used to disguise fear, pride, resentment, and tribal loyalty? In this commentary, Leighton Grey examines how words such as “mission,” “justice,” “heritage,” “repentance,” and “oppression” can sound biblical while being used to advance deeply unbiblical ideas. Whether rooted in ethnic preservation, historical grievance, national pride, or culture-war identity, the danger is the same: Scripture becomes a decoration for beliefs shaped by something other than Christ. The greatest threats to the Church do not always arrive openly opposing Christianity. Sometimes they come from within, clothed in familiar language and offering believers exactly what they want to hear. Authentic Christianity confronts our own sin. Counterfeit Christianity flatters us, divides us into tribes, and rebrands our sinful desires as righteousness. The question every Christian must ask is simple: Is Scripture shaping what we believe, or are we using Scripture to defend what we already want to believe?

Canada’s Freedom Crisis Is Spiritual, Not Political | Grey Matter vs. Corri Hunsperger

Corri Hunsperger, co-host of Talk Truth, joins Leighton Grey to discuss why so many Canadians and Christian leaders remain silent as government surveillance, censorship, and restrictions on speech continue to expand. Corri shares his personal journey from growing up as a pastor’s son, walking away from Christianity, and ultimately rediscovering a genuine relationship with God. He also reveals how censorship during COVID-19 inspired him and his father, Alan, to create Talk Truth. Together, Leighton and Corri explore Canada’s Christian foundations, the dangers of political apathy, the failure of churches to confront difficult issues, and why honest conversation is essential to restoring freedom and unity. Most importantly, Corri challenges Christians to move beyond empty religion, live their faith courageously, and develop a relationship with God rooted in love rather than fear. In this episode: Why Corri walked away from Christianity How censorship gave birth to Talk Truth Why Canadians have become dangerously passive The growing threat to freedom of speech Why many churches avoid controversial issues Canada’s forgotten Christian foundations How Christians can speak truth with courage and grace The difference between knowing religion and knowing God Subscribe for more conversations examining the spiritual, cultural, and legal battles shaping Canada.

The Devil's Wager: THE SPIRITUAL COST OF GAMBLING

The casino is no longer confined to Las Vegas. It now fits inside a six-inch smartphone and follows us everywhere. Online sports betting has exploded in popularity, particularly among boys and young men. Behind the promises of excitement and easy money lies a predatory industry linked to addiction, bankruptcy, depression, family violence, crime, and suicide. In this episode, Leighton Grey examines the rapid expansion of online gambling and asks a deeper question: Is gambling merely risky entertainment, or does it violate the fundamental principles of Christian life? Drawing on recent research and biblical teaching, he explores how gambling distorts our understanding of work, wealth, risk, contentment, and love for our neighbours. He also explains why parents, churches, schools, and policymakers must confront the growing influence of sports betting before another generation pays the price. The house always wins—but what is society losing?

Father Calvin Robinson: Can Christianity Save the West?

The political and cultural battles consuming the Western world may be symptoms of a much deeper conflict. In this uncompromising conversation, Leighton Grey is joined by Father Calvin Robinson, a traditionalist priest, broadcaster and political commentator, to examine what he sees as the spiritual crisis behind the decline of Western civilization. They discuss the erosion of Britain’s and Canada’s Christian identity, the rise of woke ideology, abortion and euthanasia, attacks on the family, threats to religious liberty, mass immigration, institutional failure and the growing pressure on Christians to remain silent. Father Robinson also explains why speaking the truth requires courage, why the Church must recover its historic faith and how Christian men and families can help renew a civilization that has lost its moral foundation. The culture war is not merely political. As Father Robinson argues, it is part of a larger spiritual battle over truth, faith, family and the future of the West.

Together, they explore: Why gold remains in a long-term bull market The growing global debt crisis and the risks of fiat currencies Why central banks are accumulating gold instead of selling it The outlook for silver and precious metals How inflation, deficits, and monetary policy are reshaping the global economy Whether a return to sound money or some form of gold-backed system is becoming more likely What investors should understand about physical gold, silver, mining stocks, and the coming financial transition Whether you're interested in economics, investing, precious metals, or the future of the global monetary system, this conversation offers a thought-provoking look at the forces reshaping the world's financial landscape.

How Global Governance & Fiat Debt are Designing the Next Tyranny

Dr. Bonta outlines the underreported strategies the United Nations uses to bypass national sovereignty via migration, digital ID tracking, and punitive climate policies. They discuss how the destruction of objective morality directly leads to the expansion of state tyranny, drawing sharp insights from the historical fall of the Roman Republic. Turning to economics, Dr. Bonta applies Austrian economic principles to analyze our current system of fiat currency and central banking. He breaks down how our monetary system requires a continual expansion of debt to survive, what hyperinflation looks like when public confidence shatters, and how the lessons of the American founders regarding sound money can protect families today.   🍁 THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS 🍁 Puurathletics.ca: Thanks to our sponsor Puurathletics.ca! Christianity the Source of All Evil? Setting the Record Straight | Leighton Grey

The illusion of an engineered consensus is cracking. In this commentary, Leighton Grey K.C. unpacks how modern civilization has shifted away from open communication toward a system deeply organized around perception management, algorithmic control, and behavioural modification. From the rebranding of "cancel culture" to synchronized institutional narratives, we explore how fear is being leveraged to manufacture voluntary compliance and artificial public agreement. The Digital Trap: How Bills C-9, C-22, and AI Will Reshape Canada

Bills C-9, C-22, and C-8 are laying the groundwork for unprecedented government control in Canada—but they can’t implement them without AI. Nico Lagan joins Leighton Grey and Michael Klassen to expose the shocking reality behind Canada’s new Sovereign Technology Alliance and Mark Carney's push for federal AI control. Learn why Bill C-22 purposefully leaves "metadata" undefined, how AI software like Palantir is used to link your personal data, and why Canada’s cold climate makes it the perfect breeding ground for massive big tech data centers. We also discuss the Senate's recent vote on residential school denialism amendments and the spiritual battle for truth in a post-nation state. The Crisis of Modernity: Marxism, Eroticism, and the War on God

"No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good." — C.S. Lewis   Are the crises plaguing the modern West (from the collapse of the nuclear family to the rise of globalist technocracy) merely political failures, or are they symptoms of a much deeper, spiritual warfare? In this episode, we dive into a profound essay by Leighton B.U. Grey K.C. that traces the philosophical and occult roots of today’s cultural chaos. Drawing on the eerie, accurate 1960s predictions of Italian philosopher Augusto Del Noce, we explore how the West transitioned from a "good society" oriented toward transcendent truth into a "society of well-being" defined by moral nihilism and a weaponized sexual revolution. We unmask the unexpected links between Marxist ideology, the historical funding of revolutions by elite capitalists, and the current globalist agendas operating inside institutions like the UN, the WEF, and even modern Canadian law. But this isn't a message of despair. Ultimately, we discuss how understanding this history of ideas equips us to push back. Join us as we look at practical ways to resist modern tyranny—through reclaiming education, bold political engagement, and a return to the eternal truths that anchor human freedom.   🍁 THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS 🍁 Puurathletics.ca: Thanks to our sponsor Puurathletics.ca! Welcome back to Grey Matter with Leighton Grey. Today, we are joined once again by Dr. Robert Malone—pioneer of mRNA technology, immunologist, and virologist. In this sprawling conversation, Dr. Malone unpacks the recent cruise ship outbreak of the Andes hantavirus strain, separating real virus threat assessment from mainstream media and WHO fear-mongering. He lifts the veil on the structural compromises within the World Health Organization, detailing how private foundation funding perverts global health policies into totalitarian power grabs. Dr. Malone also exposes the moral failures of government-funded medical research—including the horrific "de-barking" experiments on beagle puppies—and discusses the massive regulatory blindspots allowing cancer-causing benzene into everyday cosmetics. Finally, Dr. Malone shares his ancestral philosophy on "homesteading for health," offering a blueprint for navigating modern economic crises through simple, traditional dietary resilience. All Systems Gone: How the Managerial Class is Destroying Canadian Institutions

In this episode of Grey Matter, Alberta criminal trial lawyer Leighton Grey K.C. breaks down the systematic dismantling of Canada’s democratic foundations. From the rise of a self-preserving "managerial class" to the erosion of the Rule of Law in our courts, we explore the stark reality behind the polished language of modern governance. Key Topics Covered: ✅ The Managerial Scam: How failure is renamed as "policy" to protect a ruling culture that survives without correcting its mistakes. ✅ A Broken Justice System: An in-depth look at how the Gladue principles and ideologically motivated sentencing are creating a two-tiered system that often fails the very victims it claims to protect. ✅ Institutional Capture: The transition from public service to a "travelling caste" of consultants, regulators, and NGOs feeding from the same funding streams. ✅ The Carney Government: An analysis of current leadership, including the impact of CCP electoral interference and the "husk" of our remaining democratic structures. ✅ The Truth About Disparities: Examining the Aristotle Foundation report which finds that indigenous economic outcomes are tied more to education and geography than systemic discrimination. The Godless Country: Restoring Canada’s Moral Foundation

By examining government unaccountability, the "brain drain" of talent, and the failure of materialist worldviews, Grey contends that only a return to the supremacy of God can provide the shared moral basis necessary for a united nation.   Thanks to our sponsor Puurathletics.ca Show your support with hats, hoodies, and hand-held coffee cups. https://puurathletics.ca/collections/grey-matter   Grey Matter is a Canadian 🇨🇦 podcast hosted by Alberta criminal trial lawyer, Leighton Grey.   Visit Grey Matter: X - x.com/GreyMatterConvo Instagram - instagram.com/greymatterpodcastofficial Facebook - facebook.com/thegreymatterpodcast Rumble - rumble.com/c/GreyMatterPodcast
