We’re not meant to go through every door that is open to us in this life. Some doors may look attractive on the outside, but in reality, they lead us into sin and destruction. In today’s message, Pastor Jeff teaches us that the doors that God places before us will help us grow in His presence. The challenges that await us on the other side of that door will help us produce the fruit of the Spirit, and overcoming those challenges will make us less likely to fall for Satan’s tricks, since we have gone through the door of salvation.

When you’re at an intersection, and the traffic light turns green, do you just sit there and rejoice that it’s your turn to go? Do you sit there and thank God for turning the light green? Well, of course not! That green light is your signal to go, so you go! In today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that once you are in Christ, it’s not enough to just stay where you are, even if you are celebrating your newfound freedom. You have been set free for a purpose: to spread the light of freedom to those who are still lost.

When you make a wrong turn, do you just keep heading in the wrong direction toward the wrong destination? Of course not! You find a safe place to turn around and continue on your journey in the right direction. Well, Pastor Jeff teaches you today that no matter how far you’ve drifted from God’s will for your life, all you need to do to get back on track is to repent of your sin and turn back towards the Lord’s presence. Spend time in God’s Word, and He will begin to work healing miracles in your soul.

Jesus had to endure the absolute worst of humanity. Not only did He come face-to-face with every form of sin, but He was also subjected to some of the worst torture that humans could come up with. Pastor Jeff teaches you today that Jesus spilled blood seven times as He stood tall against sin. But in all of the pressure He faced, Jesus never resorted to sinful anger. The same strength that helped Jesus endure the violence of this world is available to you today, as you endure trials in your own life.

There are few things in this world more powerful and mysterious than light. The more we learn about light, the more questions we end up asking about it. In today’s message, Pastor Jeff wants you to recognize that Jesus is the light of the world, and that has so many meanings that are applicable to us today. He shines through the darkness to help us navigate through life, but He also gives us a beacon to follow, so that even those who are far from Him can find their way into His loving presence.

If you’ve ever tended a garden, you know the most important thing to do to help your plants grow is to ensure they have a good environment. The right combination of soil, water, and sunlight can turn your backyard from a patch of grass into a bountiful garden! But Pastor Jeff reminds you today that your soul is also a kind of plant that needs to be cared for. If you want to produce the fruit of the Spirit, you need to be rooted in God’s Word, the source of all goodness, truth, and love.

The most devoted music fans won’t just see their favorite artist when they play a show in their city, they’ll travel hundreds of miles to see them perform in different cities, or even different countries! Now, Pastor Jeff wants you to imagine what it’s like to pursue Christ just like a superfan pursues their favorite artist. What is Jesus asking of you today? Are you willing to lay everything down to draw closer to Him? Whatever you give up to follow Him today will be returned to you a hundred times over in Heaven.

In 1859, Charles Blondin accomplished the impossible by crossing over Niagara Falls on a tightrope. He made this crossing many times, and he even crossed with someone riding on his back! Can you imagine trusting someone with your life like that? Well, Jesus asks you to trust Him with all of that and more, but He doesn’t leave you to make those decisions alone. Pastor Jeff teaches you today that Jesus gives you all the assurance you need in God’s Word. You can trust Him with everything!

The reason that faith is able to protect you from all of Satan’s attacks is that it doesn’t come from you! The enemy knows how to exploit your willpower, your resolve, and your intellect. But Pastor Jeff is here today to remind you that when you have faith, you are given supernatural protection! The enemy can’t harm you because he can’t even touch you! As a child of God, you are given the shield of faith that will knock aside every single one of Satan’s schemes. His attacks bounce off of that holy shield!

Throughout the Bible, God has called people to give their very lives to receive a greater reward in Heaven. If you study Church history for even a brief moment, you will read story after story of people who faithfully answered this call. Now, Pastor Jeff isn’t trying to tell you that you will be forced to choose between the Gospel and your own life! But there will come a time when following Jesus will cost you something, and choosing to remain faithful to Him will grant you a greater reward in Heaven!

When you’re stuck in a traffic jam on the freeway, the only way to get out of traffic is to take an exit or to stay the course and wait to get through the bottleneck. But when we’re facing a trial in our walk with Christ, we don’t always get to choose how we overcome it! In today’s message, Pastor Jeff teaches us that sometimes God rescues us from the difficult times we are facing. But there are also times when His deliverance manifests as a supernatural strength to endure and outlast our trials. 

Have you actually seen how water slides off a duck’s back? Duck feathers are naturally waterproof, thanks to a special oil that the duck’s body produces. It creates a shield that stops water from soaking through their outer feathers into the interior layers of down feathers. In today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that when you have the shield of faith, God protects you from the enemy’s attacks against your peace! Satan’s missiles will bounce and slide off of you like water off a duck’s back. 

One of the best descriptions of God’s peace is found in Psalm 23. When we’re at peace, we have everything we need thanks to our Good Shepherd. He leads us to still waters and green pastures, and He protects us from our enemies, even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Well, Pastor Jeff teaches us today that Satan is trying to destroy every element of that peace that we have in the Lord. He stands against every good thing the Lord has given us in this life.

The saying goes that you become like the people you surround yourself with. If your closest friends lead you into sinful actions, or they distract you from pursuing God, the best thing you can do to take care of your soul is to walk away from those friendships! Pastor Jeff reminds you today that a true, Godly friend will encourage you as you chase after the Lord’s holiness. The pain of losing those ungodly friendships is only going to be temporary, but the reward for following Jesus is eternal life!

If you watch a professional demolish a wall with a sledgehammer, they make it look easy! Just a few swings of the hammer, and the whole wall is knocked down. But when you go to pick up the hammer for yourself, you realize it’s much heavier than you thought, and knocking down that wall becomes harder than it looked. Well, in today’s message, Pastor Jeff teaches you that the strongholds in our lives are built out of the heavy bricks of lies. You can’t knock down those walls without God’s divine strength! 

One of the ways that false teachers try to deceive you is to disguise their untrue doctrine with the words of the Bible. The Jehovah’s Witnesses use a lot of the same vocabulary found in the Bible, but its meaning is twisted beyond recognition for human gain, while the Mormons try to elevate the Book of Mormon to the same level of honor as the Bible itself! Pastor Jeff reminds you to be aware of wolves in sheep’s clothing, and to learn God’s Word for yourself so you can defend yourself against false teachers. 

Moses could have spent his entire life without giving a single thought to the plight of his fellow Israelites. He lived the life of a prince and had access to all of the riches in Egypt. While you and I probably didn’t grow up in royalty, we similarly have the opportunity to live for worldly things. But Pastor Jeff teaches us today that to live a truly fulfilling life, we need to reject the riches of this world! When we leave all that behind to obey the Lord, we establish a place for ourselves in His eternal Kingdom!

Everyone knows that a boomerang is supposed to come back to you when you throw it, but have you actually tried it for yourself? It turns out that it takes some practice to properly throw that boomerang without it crashing to the ground. Today, Pastor Jeff teaches you about the story of Moses and how his life began with a giant act of faith! His mother placed her newborn son in a basket on the Nile River, entrusting him to God, and was soon rewarded as Pharaoh’s daughter enlisted her to care for her own son!

If you’ve ever been in a large community, you’ve probably noticed people naturally congregate in smaller groups and form their own little cliques within the larger group. We see this a lot in high schools, but it can happen anywhere, even in the Body of Christ! In today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds us not to show favoritism in the body of Christ. All of us are designed to fulfill a specific purpose, and that means we are all important and valuable! No believer is worth more than their brother or sister.

We don’t always get to know how our actions will affect future generations of believers. Even in the small tasks we do to serve the Lord every day, He is planting seeds around us that can grow to produce fantastic fruit! In today’s message, Pastor Jeff teaches us about Phoebe and how Paul sent her to the Roman church with the letter that became the book of Romans. Without Phoebe’s faithful journey, one of the most important theological books of the New Testament might never have been written!

One of the greatest evangelists of all time was Billy Graham. He held his first crusade in 1947, and his final crusade was in 2005. That’s nearly sixty years of ministry! And even after his retirement, God still used Billy Graham to further the Gospel to all corners of the Earth. In today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that the work of the Gospel is never done, and as long as you have breath, there is something that you can do for God’s Kingdom! The harvest is great, but the workers are few.

When you start to learn how to cook, you may rely on a few recipes and follow them to the letter to cook tasty and nutritious food. But after a few repetitions, you may not need to rely on those recipes as much, and soon enough, cooking will feel like second nature to you! In today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that you won’t become strong in your walk with Christ if you aren’t spending time in God’s Word, learning more about Him! You need to get to the point where obeying God comes naturally to you.

The Bible teaches us to be careful as we walk with God, making sure that we don’t stumble and fall into temptation along the way. However, we aren’t just responsible for our own lives! In today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds us that we should also avoid becoming stumbling blocks for our fellow believers. If we engage in behavior that could cause a brother or sister in Christ to stumble, the most loving thing we can do for that person is not expose them to something that would cause them to struggle.

In the documentary Free Solo, a rock climber named Alex Honnold performs the first-ever free solo climb of El Capitan, a three-thousand-foot-tall rock in Yosemite National Park. He has to have complete certainty of his abilities because he has no tools or helpers to assist him on his climb. Pastor Jeff teaches you today that Abraham had to have an even greater level of faith in God! He had faith that even though he was climbing a mountain to sacrifice his son to the Lord, he would not be returning alone.

In C.S. Lewis’ book The Screwtape Letters, the demon Screwtape gives instructions to his nephew, Wormwood, on how to make a Christian man lose his faith. Wormwood is told to use subtle methods to undermine the man’s faith in God, so that it crumbles from the inside out. Pastor Jeff teaches you today that Satan will employ those very tactics against you! He places trials and obstacles in your life to attack your faith in God, but you can resist him by choosing to trust in God, despite your struggles. 

If you ever go on a missions trip to another country, you may be surprised by some of the customs in their worship services that you’re not used to at your home church! Maybe the songs they sing are different, or the people dress differently than you’re used to. But in today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that to be unified as the body of Christ, you must recognize that one size does not fit all. As long as you are reading and believing in God’s Word, those small differences should not divide the body!

Did you ever think that obeying God by loving others would become counter-cultural? Well, in today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that the standard for treating others in today’s society is to treat them with contempt and rudeness. In a brutal and unforgiving world, an excellent way to make someone curious about following Christ is through showing them love. Is there someone in your life that you can show just a little more love to today? By loving one another, you bring glory to the Father.

The Bible tells us that we can’t serve two masters. We can either serve God or serve our government. But in today’s study in the book of Romans, Pastor Jeff teaches us that we serve God by serving our government. The Lord has a purpose for the institutions of this world, even if we don’t understand how His plans will be fulfilled through our flawed leaders. Unless the government’s laws directly contradict God’s Word, we should honor our Father in Heaven by obeying the world’s laws. 

It breaks my heart to look around the world and see people misuse God’s Word to justify the mistreatment of others. People have taken the Scriptures out of context to discriminate against others based on their race, their national origin, and even their gender! But in today’s message, Pastor Jeff pushes back against that evil rhetoric. The Bible is clear that all are created equal in God’s eyes, and no one is higher or lower than any other in the Kingdom of God. We must not use God’s message of love to spread hate.

When I think of surrendering my life to God, I think of Carrie Underwood’s song, “Jesus Take The Wheel”. I imagine myself letting go of the steering wheel of my life, and trusting in Him to steer me through the trials I face. But life isn’t a highway, and giving the Lord control over everything is a lot more complicated than just letting go of the steering wheel. In today’s message, Pastor Jeff is going to teach us about what it means to truly surrender to the Holy Spirit and let Him control every aspect of our lives.

The easiest way to get discouraged from the difficult path you are on is to look back. After all, if the road ahead is so hard, wouldn’t it be easier to go back to where you were before? But Pastor Jeff encourages you today to stay on the straight-and-narrow path God has called you to! Abraham knew that God’s promises ahead were greater than the challenges he would face on his journey. He was able to stay the course and become the father of a great nation, all because he didn’t look back!

There are thousands of foreign missionaries serving around the world, doing work God has called them to do to bring the Good News to people who might not hear it otherwise. But let me tell you from experience, it takes a great amount of sacrifice to fully uproot your life and follow after God’s calling. Pastor Jeff wants to teach you today that Abraham didn’t just have to say “yes” to follow God. He had to depart from the only home he had ever known and leave his friends and relationships behind!

Paul understood that the Jewish people would be stubborn and unlikely to accept Jesus as Lord. After all, he had similarly resisted Jesus and persecuted Christians all over Israel! Pastor Jeff wants us to understand today that the Gospel is available to all people, but the people who got to witness Jesus’ ministry firsthand were the ones quickest to reject His gift of salvation. Paul isn’t trying to pit Jew against Gentile, because we are created equal in God’s eyes. Jesus’ salvation is for all of us!

Have you ever looked at the night sky, hoping to see a shooting star? They’re only visible for a brief moment, so imagine how disappointing it would be to blink or get distracted by something nearby, only for that distraction to cause you to miss the thing you’ve been waiting for! Pastor Jeff teaches you today that the Jewish people have been waiting on the Messiah for so long, they don’t even realize that the Messiah has already come! Jesus has been waiting for His people to open their eyes and witness His glory.

A few years ago, I read a book called One Thousand Risks, by Chad Johnson. The author talks about defeating his anxiety in sharing the Gospel by setting a goal to share the love of Jesus with one thousand people, and he saw God do great things through those small conversations! Pastor Jeff teaches you today that God has already planted seeds in the hearts of the unreached; all that is needed is for someone to come water those seeds. Will you take the risk to share the Gospel with someone today?

Can you imagine going bowling for the first time and getting a perfect score of 300? Now, imagine throwing a perfect game after perfect game for a week straight. The odds of that happening are one in a trillion at best! But Pastor Jeff teaches you today that those odds are still better than your odds of perfectly following the Law of the Old Testament throughout your entire life. You can’t be saved by your good works, because even one slip-up is enough to disqualify you from God’s presence. You need His grace!

In a monarchy, the royal crown is passed down from parent to child. It’s not a position the child earns by merit; it’s passed down to them by birthright. But in today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that salvation isn’t something that is passed down like a birthright. The Israelites did inherit the blessings that God gave to Abraham, but that did not buy them access to God’s throne room. They had a front-row seat to what God was doing in this world, but each person has to choose to follow God for themselves.

The book of Hebrews shows us that there is a throughline connecting the stories of Abel, Enoch, and Noah. We’ve learned that the safest place for us to be is walking right alongside God, obeying Him and following in His footsteps everywhere we go. This world around us has been plunged into chaos, but Pastor Jeff wants us to remember that we have a loving Father who knows exactly what to do. If we are faithful to obey His instructions, He will grant us His blessings and peace.

Atoning for your sins is an area of your life where you don’t want to take shortcuts. After all, in God’s eyes, you are either guilty of sin, or you’re not. There are no half-measures. In today’s message, Pastor Jeff teaches you about Cain and Abel, and about how Abel’s offering recognized God’s requirement of blood to atone for sins. However, Cain wanted to take a shortcut by sacrificing the fruit of his fields, but in doing so, he rebelled against God. The Lord doesn’t accept insincere offerings. 

Some promises come with an expiration date. A coupon is usually only good for a few months, a check is typically void after 90 days, and a job offer needs to be signed and returned in order for you to start your new role. Now, there are many Jews today who haven’t yet accepted the gift of Jesus, even though He meets all of the Bible’s prophecies surrounding the Messiah. However, Pastor Jeff teaches you today that the Israelites still have time to recognize Jesus as Lord. But their time is running short!

People love to hear stories of time travelers! Whether their vehicle of choice is a phone booth, or a car with a built-in flux capacitor, their brave pilots go back and forth across the timeline, fighting monsters and preventing history from erasing itself. Well, Pastor Jeff teaches you today that God is even more powerful than a time traveler! He knows the entire story of humanity, and He knew it before He even created the world. He knew to choose you to be part of His Kingdom, before you were even born!

It’s easy to think of salvation only in spiritual terms. After all, who needs a body if your soul will live forever in God’s presence? However, Pastor Jeff reminds us today that our bodies won’t just be left to decompose in the ground when we go to meet the Lord. When Jesus returns for His bride, He will also bring resurrection for the dead! Our old bodies will be raised up out of the ground, and remade into new and perfect creations! We will become truly perfect in God’s sight.

When you see that a loaf of bread has gone moldy in your pantry, do you assume that only the moldy slice is affected, or do you toss the whole loaf? Well, seeing visible mold on the loaf means that the entire loaf is likely contaminated. Pastor Jeff reminds us today that the depravity we see in this world today is the outward symptom of a world that has fully given itself over to sin. This darkness should bother our consciences, because the Holy Spirit is concerned about the state of the world.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a fan of free samples at the grocery store. Sometimes, the product being offered at the sample station is one that I already planned on buying! When that happens, I know that the sample I’m tasting now will only get me excited for the full portion I will enjoy later! Pastor Jeff reminds us today that even though we are filled with the Holy Spirit’s power, we have only experienced a fraction of what we will see when we receive our full portion of God’s presence!

The valley of the shadow of death may be the darkest valley that you ever cross in your life. It’s a place where the fear of loss can cause as much damage to your soul as the loss itself. But God doesn’t leave you to face that valley alone! In today’s message, Pastor Jeff wants you to recognize that the Lord is your good shepherd, and He is always looking out for you! It’s not hard to find His hand reaching out to guide you. Knowing that His hand is there in the first place is the hardest part of the battle.

We all need a GPS at some point in our lives. Maybe we’re traveling to someplace new and need directions, or our usual route isn’t available because of a road closure. Well, Pastor Jeff is here today to remind us that God wants to be our guide, helping us through life, and leading us into peaceful pastures. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be difficult times to go along with the calm moments, but we can be equally assured that there is no safer place than walking right by His side.

Whenever I get up in the morning, my mind races to check my phone. Whether I’m checking my unread messages or looking at the weather so I know how to dress for the day, that little rectangle holds so much information that will be important to my day. But when I choose to start my day in prayer rather than flooding my mind with noise, I notice a difference in my spiritual life! Pastor Jeff reminds us today that we have a choice to make every day: will we make God more important than our flesh?

Have you ever been on a boat that got so far from shore that you could no longer see dry land? It can be scary to be in the middle of a vast ocean, with no shelter in sight besides the boat keeping you above the surface. Well, in today’s message, Pastor Jeff reminds you that just as the ark protected Noah and his family from the condemnation of sin, God protects you from the waters of condemnation by sealing you within His grace. You don’t have to be afraid of judgment, because it will never reach you!

The world loves to label evil things as good, hoping that you won’t be paying attention! All kinds of greed and corruption are perfectly legal under the law of the land, but are condemned by God! Pastor Jeff teaches you today that the Law we find in the Old Testament plays an important role, because it lays out God’s standards for life. Something that may be legal in the law of the land may be sinful in God’s eyes, and it’s important to remember to follow God’s commandments over man’s laws.

Living up to the perfect standard of the law is like being asked to recreate the Mona Lisa perfectly. Sure, you can try to be super diligent and recreate every brushstroke as closely as you can, but your recreation will not live up to Da Vinci’s standard. Pastor Jeff reminds you today that you cannot perfectly follow the Law, and that the marriage that bound you to the Law was never going to save you. Instead, it is the grace of God that saves you, by releasing you from your captivity, and giving you new life in Christ.
