HAVEN: You Are Safe

You would never hold over your best friend what you are still holding over yourself. You would tell her God forgives her, it is done, let it go. But when it comes to you — you replay, you punish, you disqualify yourself from grace. In this episode we are talking about why self-forgiveness is so hard and what the Bible actually says about it. Micah 7:19 says God hurls your sins into the depths of the sea. Psalm 103:12 says He removes them as far as the east is from the west. He threw it away. Today we stop going back to fish it out.

If the church hurt you, your pain is real. Your experience is valid. And this episode is not going to dismiss what happened or tell you to just get over it. We are going to talk about what church hurt actually looks like, why it gets tangled up with God, and how to separate the people who wounded you from the Jesus they claimed to represent. Because people will fail you. Jesus will not. And your relationship with Him does not have to end because someone else’s did not look like Him.

Guilt says I did something wrong. Shame says I am something wrong. And shame is one of the heaviest things a young Christian woman can carry — especially when the church has been the place where it got louder instead of quieter. In this episode we are naming the shame that lives in silence and bringing it to the courtroom of John 8 — where Jesus dismissed every accuser and said neither do I condemn you. Isaiah 54:4 says you will forget the shame of your youth. Not manage it. Forget it. That is where we are going today.
